Best bet would have been to click buy now at the 10 am drop and don’t try and click confirm and buy. Then just fill in your cc details and apply the coupon ready for the 2pm drop where you spam confirm and pay. Has worked for every drop since November ;)

  • Aipods in the cart from the 10am drop, CC lock and loaded.

    • success?

  • Someone had Airpods on Gumtree I was trying to buy off for $50 more. He just updated the listing saying he got 2 instead of one for sale. Second one available after Thursday. Seems like he scored a deal today (again).!!!

    • which area?

      • Parramatta, but seems like he removed the listing. Cant imagine it sold that quick but must be an OzBargainer ashamed of himself?

        • or maybe 2pm drop for him said it was successful but wasnt successful :)

  • COuldn't get it

    • Looks like it went live 13s in and ended 24s in.

  • just seconds off!

  • Had the checkout waiting from earlier and clicked 'Confirm and Pay' the second the clock ticked over to 2pm on time.is and still couldn't score a pair.

  • Still didn't get it, and I had the bastard in my cart!

    • How do you do it?

      • @rkshar , I had it in the cart from 10am drop , prefilled credit card details at payment screen and proceeded to repeatedly press pay now at 2pm. That’s it no tricks.

    • +4

You'd better go update your Gumtree listing!

      • @ash lol. It’s for family and friends but the gumtree generalisation is hilarious.

        • It’s for family and friends but the gumtree

I hope you'll be charging them a small premium. There is a $100 opportunity cost giving them away at cost.

Also…..Remember to cancel your eBay plus subscription…..It will be much less of a bargain if that rolls over.

          • @ash2000: Thanks for the cancellation tips appreciate it.

No, I’m doing ok so there’s no commissions simply cost price for family and friends.

    • +2

That means you have at least 3 eBay accounts. Maybe you used something like Java scripts to fulfill your greedy need too.
If I were you, I would feel shame to share this 'achievement' to the public.

      • -1

There’s no shame mate , stop sulking

      • I blame eBay, not those who multi-account it. These promos are flawed from the get-go and leave most irritated.

    • Here come the Neg Brigade!

  • I got "Thanks! your order was placed" but there is no transaction on my purchase history…

    • lol, I got the same.

      • Did you try to pay with paypal? Mine shows up in cancelled order as payment didn't go through

        • No, I used credit card.

        • Mine is strange, I can still go back to the checkout screen but if I press 'Confirm and pay' I don't even get the item is out of stock message. The 'Confirm and Pay' button just disappears completely and will appear when I refreshes the page.

Looks like I have no hope for the 6PM drop now…

          • @Sainter4Life: Press it at 2 seconds to go. It will probably take that long to confirm right on the hour. If not. Press it again straight away.

          • @Sainter4Life: Can't believe I actually scored one doing it from scratch in the last drop could have something to do with the extra 140 units.

        • This is what happened during the first and second round of the airpod rush earlier this month. Many initially received a success screen, then only to discover payment didn't go through.

eBay honoured the sale with those who were impacted during the second round.

I hope they will do the same here.

          • @ash2000: They wont, there is a disclaimer on the "How to shop" text.

Items placed in cart are not reserved. You may receive an order placement message post checkout, however orders are not confirmed until you receive email confirmation.

  • +2

Gosh, I had the cart loaded, kept pressing "Confirm and pay" but didn't get through…

    • Same

  • missed

  • Sold out in 11 seconds!

  • +1

It is impossible that they were sold in 10 secs surely! I got one in my cart and it was gone by the time the promo code was entered!

    • +1

People already had it in their cart with code applied from 10 am. That's who you're competing against. Even then, most (including I) had no luck.

  • +1

Same here, had it in my cart. sharp at 2pm started clicking but no luck.
Now it's not even in my cart.

    • +1

Yeah I got a message saying something went wrong and it is gone

  • +1

wow! that went in seconds, lmao. How is that possible? Bots?

  • Damn! I have it in my cart on desktop at work place and to leave here before 6 pm :( Doesn't show the same in my app. How do I resolve this?

    • +2

      Leave office at 6:01pm.

      • +1

6:02pm I would say, given you would want to wait to see if the order was successful (even if it says successful!)

        • 6:03pm then when you found out it wasn't successful, you would wait to see if it became successful(miracle!)

    • +2

You likely pressed "buy it now", not "add to cart". I don't think you can revive a sold-out item from your cart anyway, you can only try and continue a "buy it now".

      • Yes, I did and the code is applied too.But it tells me" we noticed a problem, please review your items. Will give it a try! Should I start trying 2 seconds before 6pm an keep spamming?

  • +1

I clicked the banner at exactly 2:00 as the deal was released and it went to the listing page saying the AirPods were sold out. Thats like 2/3 seconds tops and no "Buy now" button to even entice me. How is that even possible?!

    • Really waste time, I kept refreshing the page at 2PM and saw the buy now button and clicked on it then show me OOS

  • There are so many new accounts going for this deal. I won't be surprise if someone out there has 20 of these by now. Birth of ebayplus mafia.

    • +2

36 new users won in the last round. Professional multi-account buyers.

      • +1

I paid $49 for my membership and haven't got a single benefit out of it yet. F U eBay, rewarding newbies at loyal customers expense.

      • +1

There is no way I would get one. Ebay should dump the whole stock at one go so these multi-account buyers don't have multiple chance.

        • One way to do it is simply make it eligible to those who are paid, members. That would stop it.

        • they did 900 and some people went off to ebay to complain. guessing they dont want to do it again.

          • @richmond12: All the multi account buyers must have complained.

          • @richmond12: was literally the only way I was able to score a deal with the 900 drop, they need to do more big drops as well as change the code each new drop so that those greedy double dippers have to actually go through the process everyone else does instead of having it in their cart and purchase straight away.

            • @MaXX5000: Problem is if you change the code, it's free for all, including those who got it on previous deals.

              • @julz15: surely it shouldn't be that sophisticated to have it in their system that they cannot apply the different code if the first code was successful from a previous purchase earlier in the year.

  • +1

Are the Airpods worth all this effort? Actually curious how they stack up against something like the QCY T5 which have been my daily drivers for a couple months now.
Or is it some kinda Apple ecosystem-locking thing and they're a must-have if you want wireless buds?

    • +1

Airpods are more comfortable to wear for most people and yeah it works perfectly with iPhone

      • Are they good with android too? I am a samsung person, wanted to try apple product without losing an arm. Is it still worth a try?

        • +1

They are excellent with Android as well.

          • @boozler: Agree. I'm using the pros with Android. Need a third party app but otherwise works well. Very comfortable and mics are great.

            • @julz15: What third party app do you use? Buying for the folks, they only have android

    • +1

They are not known for the sound quality but it's seamless integration with the iPhone.

      • Yeah I was just having a google… Looks like it's very elegantly baked into the UI experience, which Apple is quite good at imo.
I wouldn't imagine many people not using them if they had an iPhone.

        • +1

Many have to use it with the iphone because apple got rid of the headphone jack.

  • So I got it and followed the advice here:
    - missed the 10am drop but had payment screen loaded
    - used the time.is and when the clock hit 2:00:01 I was smashing confirm
    - actually took a few turns and I got pissed
    - success!

I’ve also ended up with 2 tax invoices from Titangear…

    • haha hilarious cracking me up

    • 2 invoices? then its genuine. congrats

      • Strangely enough the invoices say the RRP + delivery fee. So not sure what’s going on there?

        • +1

its normal on the invoice. dont worry

    • I was smashing confirm

So the harder I hit the confirm button, the more likely I am to find success?

      • +1

Broke the enter key and my mouse so I guess so!

  • -2

At 10am (actually like 30 seconds before 10am) I kept slamming the refresh button but kept getting “invalid” and then pooof OOS. Then at 2pm, I kept getting “thanks for your order, your item has been delivered” but that was the order at March round 🤔🤔🤔 Hmm….can’t imagine eBay has such sophisticated program to prevent me from scoring another pair….

    • +2

      "another pair"?

      • “another pair” after the previous previous round back in March. And different code. Haven’t scored any yet this round with code PMRL84. Same seller though…

  • +2

I've tried at least 10 times for Airpod, when this "competition" began since last year, finally got a pair.

    Here is my conclusion,
    * You need NBN connection - otherwise your "Confirm and Pay" command upload to eBay is too slow,
    * You need a SSD laptop - otherwise your refresh web page is too slow,
    * Don't do it from work, the firewall and other filters it loaded will slow your down,
    * Mobile site is slow if you are in CBD due to the congestion (pre Covid-19)
    * Save your CC details for buying from eBay by buying one $1-$2 item beforehand.
    * Fetch an accurate time window as @jaymzrsa suggest TimeIs, which will help you know the time to hit "Buy it Now"/"Confirm and Pay", you would be suprise
    * Don't hit those buttons too early, it will take time to reload/refresh page, hit it after 3-5 seconds after the set time to avoid the congestion.
    * Pray you get the Airpod, pray it won't get cancelled.

    Good luck.

      • Don't do it from work, the firewall and other filters it loaded will slow your down,

      No issues for me.

    • -2
      • I need to upgrade my 33.6k dial-up connection to super fast NBN - COST $$$
      • I need to upgrade to an SSD drive (actually my laptop needs upgrade too) - COST $$$
      • I need to take a day off from work - COST $$$
      • I need to look for a new job, can't work from CBD - COST $$$
      • buying one $1-$2 item - COST $$$

otherwise….buying from eBay is so cheap & easy! :D (* me run away)

      • So true. After all, it's a "competition", you need to use all the top of trade tools to gain advantage.

eBay should limit the entries to paid eBay PLUS members, instead of allowing everyone in with a free trial membership. But same as all other big Corps, loyalty doesn't pay. Only the new members get all the benefit.

BTW, I didn't neg you though.

        • don't worry, those people don't get the side jokes :P

    • Point 1 is invalid.
I was successful through the eBay app, on 4G.

      • I’m still on TPG ADSL2

  • eBay should have sold these airpods for $159 they would still be sold out in seconds :)

    • $159 should be a fair price. It won't be sold out quickly cause at this price Ebay would be able to have more stocks and it'll eliminate people who are just looking to resell it.

    • True that, with same advertising budget they would have more quantity, resellers would probable pass and less disgruntled eBay Plus members. But these asses decided otherwise.

  • +1

Now eBay is also showing a deal for iPad 32GB tomorrow at 10 AM

    • +1

Try to cram in before EOFY.

    • Anyone know the price?

  • +1

Good luck for those at 6pm. Last airpods drop for the sale.

  • Got them on the app! Lets go

  • Got them!

  • Got it! My first apple product for my samsung phone :)

  • Finally got one

  • Finally snared one on the 3rd go today.
