Need to make clear that the $20 Zip Pay discount is only for first time users/new accounts.

    • +2

I already clarified it and it's not :)

      • Fair enough. I was only going by what was on their own banner promo ad.

        • +1

Yeah understandable and that's why I keep adding it in description.

          • @Pricebeat: hi op… just wondering if that zippay pay $50 or more and get $20 is one time per account only and only works for buying from catch?

i'm not aware there's a banner or t&c that can find anywhere

  • Is the phone any good? How does it compare against Samsung S8 ? Need a phone for daughter's 16th please. Thx

      Reviews look good .
Bloody cheap with uni , zip and 15% off cards $274 :)

Those discounts don't all work together, ao $274 unobtainable.

      • Many thanks. Muchly appreciated.

Oppo A52 is a pretty good phone, was about $220 on OzBargain a few days ago. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/551571

Usual price is $275-300. My mate who got it as a stopgap after losing his S10+ loves it and says it performs "close to it".

Nokia phones are great because they dont try and lock you into one of those sub ecosystems. No icloud. No Samsung account. No TCLHome. No My Moto.

Of course you can install their apps and use them, but its not leveraged into the device at every possible angle.

Also, theres something nice about a European brand vs all the others.

If you daughter likes to be unique, while still having her device compatible, I say go for it.

If she is more of a trend girl, "its not a Samsung" or "its not an iphone" might bother her.

      • It's really just the name that's European. It says here they are made in Taiwan.

No different to Apple. HMD Global is still based out of Finland, so most, if not all, software development and hardware design is performed there.

          • @Murpha: Apple didn’t stop existing and have their brand bought by some other people.

Don’t get me wrong, these new Nokia phones are good for the price! But it’s not the same company.

        • Many thanks. Muchly appreciated.

      • Many thanks. Muchly appreciated. My 1st mobike phone was a Nokia :-)

      • Many thanks. Muchly appreciated.

I love mine. Camera is great too surprisingly.

And best of all it is Android One. No bloat ware, which puts it above any Samsung to me…

    • this phone is slower than a galaxy s8

its using the SD660 chip - 14nm its quite old.

      https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_7_2-9833.php

that impacts heavily on the battery life which is also only 3500mah vs a 4000mah for a large 6.3" screen.

what it has over the s8 is the 48mpx camera.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/oppo-a9-2020-128gb-green
you can get this oppo a9 which is just a non sale rrp that has the 48mpx camera; better battery; newer more powerful and power conservative cpu and lower price.

or if you want a brand name

      $50 extra

if you shop around and wait there should be something more interesting come along.

Bought one, returned it. Faulty with dodgy speaker. YMMV.

    • -2

Downvote me all you want, but after a week it was slow, the speaker didn’t work, It couldn’t multitask and essentially was not worth what I paid so I returned it. YMMV.

No I trust what you've said. Its been a long time since the Finnish knew how to design a proper phone. And that was during the feature phone days. The new revived Finnish Nokia never really made me take a second look. Even Motorolas look better products now under Lenovo.
