@badonde: Except when if a store you buy from goes belly up, and you have to seek warranty from the distributor. Official Australia stock means you can do this.

          • +2

@badonde: Can confirm through facebook chat that they directly import these monitors themselves

          • @badonde: yeah…

if they don't say a hard yes or hard no

then I would take this to mean it is a grey import..
since they have answer most of the other questions except this question

I don't know why they don't just give a definitive answer instead of avoid answering it..

not sure what they are so concern about if it is true that it is a grey import
or why not just answer it..

Seems a bit suspicious/dodgy to me
by them not answering this specific question.

This like the politicians answering but not really answering the actual question.

      • By the way IOT TECH is exclusive Distributor for Dreame, Whale Spout and some xiaomi ecosystem companys.

  • Can I check if those ordered after 10am tuesday would be Australian stock as well? Thanks!

  • Any idea if I cancel my AllPhones eBay order? It was $30 more and they're not expecting any stock before July 31st

edit: ah just saw the statement above. I'll wait for GearBite stock confirmation

  • +5

Grey import or not as long as they honour their warranty claims through the store.

Besides these guys seem to have better customer service.

  • -1

I know for me i would rather have local stock rather than a grey import .

  • -3

What's the hype? This monitor is selling at such a big premium in Australia, comparing to other monitors… I really don't get it..

    • what's the premium? it's basically <15% from buying in China + shipping + GST.

    • What other monitors?

    • +5

Well it’s the cheapest 144hz 34 inch ultra wide available in Australia by far.

  • +2

For the condition at the moment, I decided to get it from gearbite.
I just placed the order and cancalled the order from allphones.
I hope Gearbite could offer the customer services as it shows in ozbargain.

  • +3

I've gone the other way, stuck with my order from allphones, $35 for local stock and warranty is worth it.

  • +1

Just got my refund from Allphones Ebay - I stupidly didn't apply the discount code at checkout too, so it would have cost me $748 rather than the $599 from gearbite.

  • +2

I have bought a few Xiaomi products from Gearbest eBay store, never had issues and shipping and support have always been great.

    • Maybe you meant gearbite and not gearbest?

      • lol yes Gearbite
        my bad

  • Am I able to use my vesa mount to this?

  • I don't know why I bought this thing, but I did, now during the lockdown spending money makes me happy, thanks op.

    • spend it on hookers and booze

      it will make you happier

  • tried getting my pre-order price matched and they didn't budge :/

    also

"We have been communicating with our local Xiaomi AU distributor who has already confirmed the stock was not provided by them, in this case, we can confirm it is definitely not Australian stock.

Please kindly note, the Xioami Mi Curved unit has not yet been released in the AU markers as this should be a Pre-Order listing ETA 31 July. The ETA date had been provided by our Xiaomi manufacturer AU when we should be expecting the stock to arrive and shipped out ASAP"

anyone got thoughts? sure if I should cancel my pre-order or not

  • +1

So I reached out to allphones (hoping for a credit refund with their listed price match) and here is their response:

Unfortunately we are unable to match that price as they are selling different stock from us.The other sellers are selling with Overseas grey import stock which it doesn't come with the local manufacturer warranty.

The ones we are selling are genuine Australian stock with GST tax invoice and comes with local manufacturer warranty. Australian stocks are fully compliant to Australian standards. For any manufacturer issue, you can simply return it to your nearest Mi-store/service center within Australia or return back to us for warranty services with proof of purchase.

We strongly recommend you to purchase genuine Australian stock as they are the best value/price for Australian stock. However if you wish not to proceed with the order. We can cancel and refund your current order.

  • +4

I got this message from allPhones too, decided to stick to my order with them, as to me $35 more is worth it for local stock, and not grey imports.

  • for those interested, can get this for around AU$425 shipped through taoboa direct. sea shipping though so will arrive in about 1 month. Make sure to use credit card through Alipay so you don't get charged GST.

    • Plus shipping you probably are looking at $100 more or less cheaper than this post but you won't have the warranty from Gearbite (provided they will honour it).

      • nah, that price includes 66rmb for shipping via sea. so cheap!

So that makes it around $200 cheaper then deal provided you willing to wait 1 month

        • Have you actually bought one from Taobao? the problem is it may not be able to ship to Australia, you pay the product first, then the product ships to a place where they pack and prepared to ship, however, At that place, they may decide they cannot ship to Australia, then the product back to seller and you get a refund. Because the freight is not operated by Taobao directly, shipping to Australia is not guaranteed.

Shipping via sea is 66rmb for first 0.5kg, and additional weight is charged at 6rmb per 0.5kg, so it is pretty cheap

          • @superlawrence: Not to mention all the problems you will face if need to send it back for warranty purposes…..

          • @superlawrence: might be dependent on seller. I haven't purchased this item as yet, however recently did purchase a number of larger appliances etc (bread maker, computer cases etc) and they have arrived without issue.

            • @lplau: which taobao site did you used? is it the global site? or chinese site?

          • +1

@superlawrence: I can confirm I have purchased one from Taobao and had it shipped to Australia.

        • " 66rmb for shipping via sea", you must only check the base price, I shipped similar size monitor via Taobao and it charged as 0.2 cbm (yeah, the actual size is 0.109cbm) which was close to $80 AUD.

          • @dreamhunter: His price is pretty accurate, that's about the price I paid to have it shipped to Australia.

    • does alipay still work in australia?

I don't think you can add it as payment option anymore
nor there is anyway to login in australia

how do you signup or login?

  • +1

      • I ordered on the 21st at 10:17am, I'm gathering you were out of stock at that point?

        • after 10am 21st will ship next week.

  • Thanks OP, bought one

  • Got an update saying mine is coming tomorrow, will update with my thoughts as soon as I've played around with it.

    • +3

Thanks! Will be very interested to hear if the ghosting is a problem or not.

    • I’d be interested too :) thank you!

    • +2

      please test

      -ghosting
      -gsync
      -day to day desktop usage

      • +5

Ok so I used it for a full work day yesterday and a bit of gaming last night. I've a web developer using MacOs and a 2016 16" mpb w/tb. My usb-c to display port adapter can only do a max of 100hz. Windows PC is a ryzen 3600x with a 2070s.

I've left most of the monitor settings stock except for changing the language and "SmartMode" to movie which made the colours looks a bit better.

        • ghosting: nothing noticeable but it I guess it's subjective. The swipe between fullscreen windows animation on MacOS moves too fast (I assume it's not designed for ultrawide) so it made me a bit nauseous at first, now I don't notice it. Couldn't notice anything with on my Windows gaming rig running at 144hz.

        • gsync: Not too sure how to best test tbh, I used this tool and it looks fine? https://www.testufo.com/gsync#photo=quebec.jpg&pps=1920&fram…

-day to day: Yeah fine, just need to workout a good workflow. MacOS only allows for 2 fullscreen windows side by side - 3 would be good for things like mail, slack and my calendar. I've not done much coding this week but having 3 columns side by side in sublime would be awesome. Also found I've not used my laptop screen for anything, utilising fullscreen windows for some apps and having everything else just placed around my primary desktop seems to work well so far.

Gaming wise I played GTA V for about 10 minutes and it looks amazing, though I need to tweak the settings as the fps is currently only in the 70s.

I'm really happy with it, for $600 it's a no-brainer. Only gripe with the screen is the osd controls are just as crappy as pretty much every other display I've used. I want to be able to quickly flick between DP1 and DP2 inputs but it's fiddly as anything and I find myself pressing the wrong button every 2nd press. Why can't these things have usb control for brightness and input?

Hope that helps, let me know if you want me to film anything like the ghosting/test anything further.

        • +1

          thanks..

For gsync enabled with FreeSync enabled on the monitor, do you notice flickering in the games or menu of the games?
          Someone said they noticed flickering..

yeah a YT video and some pics of the monitor on your deks would be good..

can you measure the foot print of this monitor on a desk (length and width)…
I would like to see how much space it takes up on a desk and if it is possible to add 2 x 24 monitors on the two side..
Measure it like if it was a rectangle box etc.. since that is how it would take up space on a desk anyway..

so you don't notice any ghosting in FPS games
or try rotating the camera to see if you can see ghosting in the games?
          e.g.
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=9&v=D6g85vqdK2A&…

how is the text sharpness and web browsing text clarity..
as well as video watching - youtube, 16:9 TV and movies?

Do you notice any of these issues by this owner of the same monitor?
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553000#comment

"I've got this and the gl850, this is noticeably worse, this is what I had wrote on the previous deal:

For anyone wondering on performance, i've got both this monitor and the 27GL850 and would say that it is quite easy to notice the better performance of the lg.

          About the Xiaomi:
          * text scrolling noticibly worse
          * white text scrolling on black backgrounds becomes very faded
          * If running alongside another monitor, this monitors edge isnt straight so there is a gap between the other monitor.
          * Very noticble ghosting (couldnt notice any with lg)

When playing rocket league performance difference personally doesnt matter compared to the increased aspect ratio, fps games however you would want to go for something like the x34p."

    • So did mine, but it didn't come :(
Now I have to wait until Monday.

Arrived at the post office yesterday but didn't get shipped out today like it should have. Wish I didn't pay the express if it was going to take this long!

      • Mine hasn't arrived yet either. It was marked as express even though I didn't pay for it.

Auspost have been delivering to my house on Saturdays lately for some reason so hopefully it'll come tomorrow.

        • Listed as Monday now :(

          • +2

@chu-oh: Just arrived. First impressions, build quality is really good. I just need to get used to the thing.

Came with an Australian power adapter. 100hz is working out of the box on macos with my usb-c display port adapter.

Colours look a bit washed out compared to the 15" macbook pro screen. Ghosting is only really apparent when I move from one fullscreen window to another - is making me a bit seasick.

            • @chu-oh: If you speak Mandarin, this guy had the same washed out colour problem on Mac, he explained why and how to solve it temporary

              https://youtu.be/lQ3S_jF8pxY

Together with other issues he had (but those were more like personal liking issues) he had to return the monitor, but this apparently was the main reason he decided to do that.

              • +1

@davidl820: "SmartMode" was set to eco, setting it to standard or movie (they look the same) made it look much better.

  • How long will this deal last for? Ta

  • If I buy today, when it will be shipped? Thanks

    • Next Week.

      • which day?

  • +1

Mine said it’ll arrive by the 24th “ON TIME” but it hasn’t come.

Will always trust Australia Post with a grain of salt…I’ll probably end up eating my own words in the next 40mins

  • Mine was supposed to be delivered by Aus Post yesterday, email from Auspost today saying delivery “should” be before Thur 30th otherwise contact them??
Understand COVID but that’s the best they can do Express Vic to syd metro….

  • Anyone who has received it- first impressions?

  • Currently using a 28" Samsung 4k panel, but ive ordered this one now.
I'll lose the 2160p, but there's a lot of positives too.
    144hz vs 60hz
    34" vs 28"
    Curved vs flat
    21:9 vs 16:9
Or I could be a psychopath and try to keep both monitors side by side :)

    • what GPU do you have
and how well it runs 4k gaming?

what fps do you get running 4k?

what is the model of the 4k samsung monitor?

      • sure, i have a fairly mid range gpu, I have a rx580, paired with a ryzen 5 3600. there are plenty of games I play at 4k@60 medium settings, for example gta 5, forza horizon 4, rocket league, battlefield 4. but for games like witcher 3 and fry cry 5, i have to turn it down to 1440p to get 60fps which im fine with. the monitor's model is LU28H750 (28" one not the new 32")

        • Keep them side by side mate, I'm doing the same with a 27 inch, gonna put the 27 inch in portrait mode, and already bought 2 F80 mounts for that purpose.

  • Any chance this monitor will drop below $500 during Black Friday deals?

    • Unlikely. Xiaomi starts low on price also it is not a major brand in monitor business so it doesn't have to play all these games like other big brands. And if the market response isn't good enough this might be the only one batch comes to AU.

      • I doubt the market won't be good enough considering how much they are selling this monitor for vs competitors prices.

        • Too early to say now. This is only the first load comes to AU and people only buy it because it's price so it doesn't necessarily mean it will continue to sale like this. I'd say wait until it gets more reviews.

  • +1

When is the next batch shipping?

    • Thursday or Friday.

  • +4

    Got mine this morning.

Installed and then the problems began. Every five minutes or so the screen goes black for a few seconds and comes back on again. I have reinstalled to factory settings and have checked all cables. Previous monitor worked perfectly.

    Have contacted Gearbite.

    • If have any problem, please contact us, we will happy to help. If product is faulty, we will replace with brand new one.

      • +4

Just to confirm that Gearbite have been great re this issue. Took me through it with facebook messenger and were immediatley available.

I am just seeing if it is a problem my end with either a cable or the hz being too high for my video card. Will know more later today after i use it for a few hours.

Gearbite have already said they will happily replace if the problem persists. Can't ask better than that.

    Mine came today :)

This is selling at $422 on taobao, and the shipping cost is $38 by sea, ship by air is probably too high I didn’t even bother calculate. No GST or import duty buying on taobao, I don’t know why but been buying on taobao for years now and never gets charged. Get someone who speaks Chinese or use chrome translate. Visa/MasterCard accepted, I use ING so no international transaction fee.

    • How did you calculate the the shipping cost?

    • This seller won't ship to the forwarder. I tried.

    • Due to size they charge it as 0.2 cbm so it's charged around $70.

  • Ordered this on the 21st, still haven't even received any shipping confirmation :(

    • Hi, Order after 10am 21st July will ship this Friday.

  • Mine also arrived today, so far so good.
I don't have a video card that can really test the monitor yet, but had no problem turning on G-Sync compatibility in the nvidia driver.
Would be interested to see settings if anyone does a colour calibration, out of box settings are quite bright and vibrant.
Monitor has no C-Tick / RCM markings for local electrical safety that I can see.
In their response on the previous page Gearbite Rep links to an image here where they have registered various other products with the ERAC to confirm they meet local requirements.
I think Gearbite needs to consider having this monitor registered with ERAC for the peace of mind of their customers that have purchased it.

    • Thanks for your feedback. We Will work this out.

      • before next shipment on friday?

  • Seems like my order is still in Melbourne and delayed even though expected today in WA? Auspost quarantining Vic shipments?

    • Most of parcels from first batch were delivered but WA still in transit. Please let me know your order no by ps, I will happy to check.

    • +1

I am in Point Cook, about 20KM from Melbourne and my order was stuck with Australia Post from Wednesday till Friday in Melbourne without any movement. I guess they struggle with the number of parcels in general.

  • +5

Recently purchased one of these monitors, but due to some unfortunate circumstances with work and COVID I had to cancel. Just wanted to say thank you to the GB team for helping me out over FB chat and having open communication constantly, really appreciate how they dealt with this and the cancellation. I will definitely be back for this down the track once things turn around.

  • Hi, how can I track my order without Facebook or the third party app?

I'm currently still waiting for the confirmation email and order despite payment express post.

    Please help.

    • Please contact us by Facebook messenger if you did not receive update, we will find out why you did not receive update.

  • Got mine today. So far so good. Did a pixel test and all fine for now. Comparing it next to my MacBook Pro 13" 2017 and holding its own.

Will compare when I edit photos how it looks.

Cant seem to figure out how to run two different devices on the side by side screen at a resolution that isn't weird. Eg if I use my MacBook on half the screen, I can't find a resolution to fit it nicely without distortion

  • +1

Also got mine today. Ships with an AU charger along with DP cables in the box. English section of the manual starts in the middle of the user manual.

This is my first ultrawide, whenever I use the “extend” to extend my displays to two, it stretches the pic on the ultrawide to unbearable proportions. When I switch to only use the ultrawide as the main display, the aspect ratio automatically adapts to the aspect just fine.

Is this normal? I couldn’t find a perfect ratio where I can extend my display so that it fits the monitor just enough with no black bars on the sides.

Device in question: Dell XPS 13 2018
