Cheaper at GearBite with 2 years local warranty

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553000

    • +2

      yep.

    • +3

Id rather get it from gear bite

    • But does it also bring fish?

    • Agreed

  • +5

Rep you forgot to mention what we all care about:
    1. Warranty - 2 years?
    2. Dead pixels - Free replacement?
    3. Where do we send to for warranty claim and for how long?

You've got to show us the beef ;)

  • +1

Is this Australian stock or a import ? and what are the warranty terms ?

    • If you select 'Ship From: AU' it will come from an Aussie warehouse. Banggood has an AU warehouse a few years ago.

      • +2

The location it comes from wasn't in question. i was asking if this is the imported version of the monitor or the Australian version.

  • +1

Thank you OP for bringing the price down to $594.

    • +13

Surely you're not gonna buy this and accept a painful warranty experience for a $5 saving right

  • I don't think there is such thing as Australian version for the monitor.

    • according to allphones / mobileciti their version is.

      • +1

They sell grey import products and accessories too.

So I’d take what they say with a grain of salt (unless they show a certificate of proof) and only shop from stores that offer great service and return warranty
        (Which allphones and MobileCiti offers)

  • "gst free" how exactly does that work?

    • +1

I think they mean as it ships from an Australian warehouse that you don't get hit with the 10% that you would if you had it shipped from an overseas warehouse.

      • Or they just account GST cost into the product.

  • +2

By the time my display arrives some store will be offering it for $300

    • my thoughts exactly

    • Aussie stock man. 1 week delivery but the deal with gearbite is better option

    • I would find it hard to believe that would get that low

If i saw it at that I would be buying 3 of the buggers

  • +1

pretty sure this is a parallel import without local warranty unlike the Allphones/Mobileciti version, thats the one I'm going with. Not worth the painful warranty experience if anything goes wrong.

  • +2

Yeah I'll pass on getting a precious monitor shipped overseas with a questionable return policy.

  • Is it me, or does the stand look better compared to the Samsung?

  • Has anyone tried G-Sync on the monitor? Is it supported?

    • G-Sync compatible is Freesync. So yes it will work.

      • how well though…

        • Same as Freesync. Your point about how well the Freesync is implemented is completely correct and one reason why I want to see Hardware Unboxed put this monitor through their testing procedure.

G-Sync is what nVidia call Freesync, which is really AMD's marketing name for VESA Adapative Sync which is an open standard. It does not have the separate special nVidia scaler that G-Sync monitors used to have which made them cost more. They did this because they know that the next consoles will have Freesync as the APUs are both from AMD, and Intel is coming with their Xe graphics which is Freesync.

Rather than keep going with a separate hardware solution, they moved to Freesync and rebranded it. People will not buy nVidia cards if their consoles cannot work on the same monitor. They would buy AMD and have PC & consoles work on the one monitor.

If nVidia test it for G-Sync compatibility (ie Freesync) and it meets their specs, the manufacturer is forced to slap 'G-Sync' branding on it.

          • @Monsta-AU: Oh I didn't know they abandon the nvidia Gsync scalers which made the monitors more expensive..
so I thought this was making Gsync work on Freesync monitor might not be as good as a properly "Gsync" branded monitor..

That is why we need some hardware reviewers to properly test how well the Gsync works on this monitor
since I read someone got some flickering glitches in the menus when they enable gsync on this monitor..

I wouldn't say manufacturers are forced to slap the 'G-Sync' branding on it..
They pay nvidia to test it, so they can put that logo on their monitor and charge more for it..

I don't think ultrawide is suitable for console gaming
so gsync branded monitors are only really a concern for 4k 16:9 monitors (if this is the reason why nvidia abandon their hardware scalers)

Are you sure they abandon nvidia Gsync scalers though?
            I didn't read any info/news that they did this…

            • @pinkybrain: It was kept very obtuse and quiet publicly, but there is plenty of material on it in the tech press and tech youtube community. It was 18 months ago now, just google "g sync now supports freesync" for details.

Some early Freesync implementations were pretty bad, and nVidia with their scalers, testing/certification and driver support were generally far better. There were some very decent Freesync monitors that were as good as G-Sync. That said, Freesync caught up and the bad implementations were the outliers. Now if it is bad, people complain and the monitors don't sell.

There are still specific G-Sync scalers in G-Sync Ultimate & G-Sync HDR branded monitors.

And yes, I fully agree that testing by reputable and trusted outlets like Hardware Unboxed is an absolute requirement. They did a really good job on the Samsung G9 and why it was overhyped. This is why I want to see them put the Xiaomi 34 through it's paces.

  • What is the active display size?

  • Be careful they will not ship from AU warehouse, they ship from China. Wait till you don’t receive your order and they’ll change it in their description like the recent Wowstick deal.

Capturing description as of 24th July “ Ship from AU warehouse, one week delivery.”.

    • Got mine a few days ago and it was from NSW. It took slightly longer than 1 week tho.

      • Probably luck of the draw, they probably ship a few from their warehouse and then put the rest on back order. I don’t mind, just if they state that upfront rather than change their minds about drop shipping after the deal is posted - the cover it up by editing the description without so much an explanation. Just questioning the ethics here.
