  • I just had a call and text to send through a further 4 payslips (after already providing 3).

Seems a bit over the top but maybe additional checks due to COVID?

  • I'm a noob with all this stuff, can someone get the credit card and then gift you the Qantas points ?

    • Yes. It's calls Family Transfers

After you get the points, log into your Qantas FF account and do the points transfer.

  • hi op, any idea when this deal is going to last??? i'm still under 12 mths since i got rid my last card. thanks

  • -1

Is this a citibank backed card?

    • +2

Why would a large Aussie bank need any sort of backing from the Americans?

  • Is there a minimum income requirement for this?
I applied yesterday anyways, let's hope for the best haha

  • When the QFF points be awarded? After 3 months?
Can the card be cancelled after a year so that the 2nd year's annual charges be avoided?

    • +1

Yeah as soon as you have met the $2500 spent requirement within 3 months, you should get the points right away. Then you are free to cancel straight away, just don't lapsed over 12 months otherwise you will get stung with annual fee!

      • thanks! I will do exactly that in true OzB spirit :)

  • Thanks OP, this is a great deal. Pretty quick turnaround for me - I applied on 3/8 and got approved this morning.

  • Thanks, approved within 24hrs

  • Thanks, applied on the 3rd and approved today.

  • Can anyone confirm a minimum credit limit? I have two other rewards credit cards;;

    • Oops, it's $6k

      • Platinum cards across all the issuers usually have a $6,000 minimum.

  • this or the Expired ANZ Frequent Flyer Black 120K Qantas Points + $275 Cashback after $4000 Spend ($425 Annual Fee) deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/552688

  • +3

    Also instantly rejected… what the

  • +4

Instant reject as well. Think they know I'm holding too many credit cards at the moment. RIP. Never got rejected for a card before this.
There goes 3 months of card applications.

    • How many cards do you have??

      • Quite a bit. Might need to cancel some but that means I will take a credit hit.

        • You don't take a hit if you cancel credit cards.

          • +2

@itslittfam: Infact it favours you more because you have less liability in your application.

            • @cloudie9: Btw, I heard ANZ keeps the application for 2-3 months even when I get instantly rejected. Is that correct? If so, I can make an appeal. I will ask them to give me a call, but I heard ANZ's customer service ain't great.

    • Update: Just decreased my overall credit limit, gave them a call and now the app is back on. Submitted the required payslips to the ANZ submission site.

      • Submitted the payslips on the 10th, just got approved for the card. Great stuff….

  • I got a call from anz and it was difficult to say the least.. I have two part time jobs and hard to explain that on the application and over the phone because English is so broken.
So they said they can do a maximum of $2500 credit limit and if I wanted more I have to plead the case.
If I just went with this limit would this affect eligibility to receive the points?.
Wanted to make sure I meet all the requirements.
If anyone can help me !!
    Thanks

  • i have 2 credit cards, one $4k limit, and this one $6k limit which i signed up during the previous 60k ff deal. I have reached my spending of $2500 in the second month (although points wasn't credited into my qantas account yet). I am now thinking to apply for the St George card, but how do I find out what is my overall credit limit in the eyes of the bank as I don't want to cancel any of my credit cards at this time if I don't have to. New to this points game and appreciate if anyone can advise me :)

    • Just keep an eye out on your credit score. You can do this at creditsimple/finder/credit savvy etc.

Too many applications will damage it for bigger purposes like a home loan.

  • I'm a contractor of < 6 months via a company structure, and an employee of my company receiving PAYG income.
Income good, credit history good. Would I be accepted, or would most banks do company ABN searches etc?

  • +3

To just update anyone in my position, after 20mins of stuff around about things I need to provide, I confirmed that I'm currently on JobKeeper (and working a second job).

She instantly wrapped it up there saying it was company policy not to issue credit cards currently to anybody on JobKeeper, regardless of whether they are working a full time second job or not (if less than 3 months into that second job)

Just a massive waste of both our time.

I said, surely in this environment, it would be the right thing to do to put that policy clearly on the offer page of your website.

  • ANZ application page is down atm.

    • ANZ application page link is back up today

  • After an intense application since Monday, I finally got the approval today. What a relief!

    • It does take awhile. I'm still waiting on the outcome of my application as well. One part I didn't know the difference was the monthly repayments and owing amount. I put the credit owing amount.

  • ANZ application page works fine with using Edge browser as Chrome kept looping back to pointhacks page.

Just applied so hopefully it's all ok.

    • Seems like Chrome has finally met its competitor for general use

  • anyone on Jobkeeper managed to successfully apply?

  • +2

wow.. was rejected……..salary above minimum requirement (same employer for 13 years) …house fully paid, other 2 credit cars are paid in full every month (only keep them for points), partner works, have a free company car, excess income goes into shares…. my payslips showed I was on jobkeeper only for 3 fortnights, and then salary went up again….waste of time indeed

    • How soon did it take to find the outcome? I'm still waiting for 3 days

      • 2 days for me. They did ask for 6 payslips from me which was abit strange. Also asked me a few questions over the phone and was accepted based on my answer.

Kind of sucks how you can get rejected for being on jobkeeper, I thought jobkeeper was $1500 a f/n? Isn't that more than the min income for this card?

        • Hmm I submitted my payslips on Monday. Looks like I will need to wait until the end of the week for the final decision.

You guys do know all your personal details are harvested via PointsHack to get that extra 15,000 points that the ANZ Website officially provides?

  • Is this deal better than the ANZ 130,000 points one where it cost about $150 out of pocket?

  • +2

Got two phone calls chasing more paperwork.
Apparently an investment property rented privately isn't counted, as not through real estate.
I've been with same company for 8 years, but as I've paid off my home, (mortgage isn't discharged yet) it shows I have two mortgages.
Only last year had ANZ black.
    Rejected for the platinum.

    • Just because of the fact it's not discharged? Could you show them it's been paid while pending?

      • Yep, sent copies of bank statements, twice now, showing balance of zero on the loan.
(Still have reasonable investment property loan)
Apparently shows on credit report as having two mortgages though, this is what they've said twice.

  • When does this offer expire?

    • limited time

    • not it says Offer expires: 19 Aug 2020 on the website

  • How long did it take after submitting the online application before you received a call or email as a follow up?

I didn't even receive an automatically generated email and it's my first time applying for a credit card so I'm a unsure if the application went through successfully

    • You should a confirmation of the application and in the email it will ask you to submit documentations such as payslip and etc. I am not sure some folks may have gone through the application without submitting supporting documents on applying but in my instance, I have to provide some docs.

      • Thanks.
I submitted it at about 6pm last night. Hopefully because it was after hours it just needs to be viewed manually before I receive an email response.

  • I applied on 10th and provided my payslips during that afternoon and still waiting.
Just wondering does ANZ call you with private number? as I normally don't answer privateno.

    • Yes they come by private number, if it is after putting applications with ANZ lately, better take the call otherwise they may leave voice message, (if you have that set up as well).

      • had missed private call today bummer, whats to do next :(

        • Both times I've had a call, I've had a text just prior informing me ANZ will be calling me.

    • I got called from an (03) number

  • Applied on the 9th, submitted two consecutive payslips and got an SMS today on the 12th saying it's been approved.

Couldn't do the online ID check so I went to the branch and that was painful. The teller had to go back and forth to her manager for help. Not sure if she was new or they just have old convoluted processes.

Should have the card next week.

    • I submitted 13 pay slips. (Been with same company for about 8 years now)
But, I missed one, obviously when downloading emails I skipped over one.
I got a call informing me they need this missing pay slip and supplied the date that I didn't submit.

  • +3

It is a waste of time.
I got 3 phone calls from the Indians with poor English communication asking the same questions.
Providing 3 months payslips and having a mortgage with them.
Never had a problem with credit card/ mortgage application before in my life.

  • applied on monday, just got approved on thurs…
    4th CC… no questions asked..
however, based on past experience, i am not in the safe zone yet..
for my 1st plat card..i had to make multiple phone calls across 3 months to have them kept "reprinting" my card because i never received it???
each time they make different excuses, from the previous person has not approve it to the previous person has missed a tick.. to sent it a while ago.. rince n repeat excuse LOL

  • Do you get approval email once the card has been approved?

I send email to them with my payslip, but no reply since then

    • Came via a text message for me. Approved in 2 days after I sent the payslips.

  • declined. apparently 4 other credit cards is too much. who knew?

    • I’ve 4 other cards too but told them I was planning to cancel 1 of them when ANZ card is approved and got through the gate. Maybe info for next time.

    • I'd say it depends on your circumstances. I have 6 other cards and got approved without any questions about my other cards.

  • Is paying bills a eligible purchase?

    • When in doubt, always use the postbillpay Paypal hack. Most safest option to earn points. Not sure about government-based charges made via paypal though.

      • Where can i learn about this postbillpay paypal hack?

      • +1

Yeah however there's big surcharge for PayPal CC

        • Oh how much is the surcharge for council rates via paypal?

      • I have Vicroads car rego to pay, any workarounds so I can pay this with my amex? Does bpay count?

  • How do you provide the documents, just by attaching them and replying to the email?

    • Thats what I did. You could also send online via their link

  • It has been a while since I applied last minute for a card does anyone know if we can apply on the last day and get the points or if we need to be approved by the 19th? I applied for myself waiting to see if approved or rejected and hoping to know before end then I ll apply for my partner. Thanks

    • great question, and I'm also interested in this

  • +1

can someone let me know if I use the card to pay for council rates through council website, does it count as eligible spend ? Saw this on their Credit card T&C. Does this mean pay for council rate is not eligible ? Or only if when I pay it though BPAY ?
Eligible purchase means purchases which are eligible to earn Points. Purchases which are not eligible to earn Points are described in the ANZ Frequent Flyer Reward Terms and Conditions (PDF 1.67MB), for example fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions
‘Cash Equivalent Transaction’ means transfers of funds
to or from other financial institutions, foreign exchange
    transactions, travellers cheque purchases, gambling
transactions, utility bills paid in person at a bank or Australia
Post or any bills paid using the Card in conjunction with
the BPAY scheme (if the billing merchant does not accept
credit card payment using the BPAY scheme) and any other
transaction that is treated as a cash advance.

  • Just received my ANZ in the mail. Going to activate later today.

    • If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you get your approval email? I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but wondering if it's held up in the Victorian madness

      • +1

        6 days.

  • Got rejected 😓

    • me too (applied yesterday)

    • +1

      The same. Not happy tbh

  • Are council rates eligible purchases?

  • declines seem to be an ANZ thing, they declined me 2-3 years ago too.
Since then westpac, 2 approvals, and St.George one, paid off any BTs, earned points and closed in the first 12 months.
    whatevs.

  • Wonder if you have a better chance of getting approved with the 60k points offer direct via ANZ? vs the 75k points referral offer?

    • Edit -

How do you apply for the point hacks offer? There is no link / apply button?

    • on the right on the landing page you should see a white and red thing "sign up / login to apply"

  • I just went to the website and it seems that you have to sign up to points hack to apply. When i applied i definitely didnt sign up, does this mean ive applied the wrong way and wont get the points?

    • same I applied last week and wasn't there, haven't heard back yet so I ll apply for my partner just in case I get rejected since tomorrow is the last day

    • I ended up going to another card (BankSA card) on the pointhacks site, then scroll down on the right and it had 'similar cards' and the anz card was listed there with an apply now button.

    • Nah, should be all good. But I always take a screenshot of the sign up page / points offer with no annual fee in the first year etc if needed later.

  • Is this useful for someone who has never used Qantas points for travel? and Does not travel very often?
Any other uses of Qantas Points?
Current holder of ANZ Platinum rewards will be eligible I guess…since they are two different reward programs?
    TIA

    • +1

you can always buy gift card or items on the qantas store if you don't travel

      • Thanks,
Not the best return for points I guess? But then, free is free!
Possible to sell QFF points like people used to do with Velocity? Same valuation 1c per point?

Side question: Which is a cheap/free Amex card to own? The ANZ platinum rewards used to have Amex but they ditched it when all the other banks ditched it…

  • When I applied there wasn't a 'sign up / log in' button for pointhacks, just an 'apply now' button. Hope that doesn't cause grief later on.
