Hey guys,

With the next iteration being announced these have taken a price dive. I had my local Harvey Norman price-match without issue. For me the differences between the XM3 and XM4 aren't big enough to warrant that we are unlikely to see a big discount on the XM4 in a while. Hopefully this helps you!

Isn't this usually around low $300s?

      • +3

        This ^^

    • +8

The lowest price ever for an OzBargain favourite is not a bargain?

    • +3

      I'm still laughing at this…

A price error (in favour of customers) is still not good enough, then I don't know what is lol

    • +1

Well, when something is a lot cheaper than it usually is, it is deemed to be a 'bargain'. Kind of how this site works.

  • +11

wow, nice price. it is a massive drop.

  • Is it Aussie stock

    • +2

I just had Harvey Norman price match it. Digi tech have actual stores in Aus so I presume it's Aus stock.

      • +2

This is actually a good price. Any chance you could upload the Hardly Normal receipt? Might help someone else here.

        • Hey, I'm not sure which parts of the receipt to scribble out =/

        • Not sure whether the incorrect auto-correct naming of the store was intentional or unintentional but yea I can definitely see Harvey Norman being hardly normal sometimes..

      Just get the Beans

These Sonys are amazing sounding headphones. I say that as someone who mostly has hifi gear from the late 70s through 80s because it sounds better. The noise cancelling is also incredible. They compare favourably with some nice open backed Audio Technica headphones I have.

Airpods are the type of headphones that get five stars on computer and business websites, not hifi/audio websites…

    • +3

Comparing AirPod Pro to XM3's is like comparing apples to oranges - it's just not possible.

    • +1

      Lol, what an ignorant comment

  • +4

Wow, great price! Nice find OP, wonder how much lower it will fall in the months to come.

    • +2

Thanks! Yea, I assume it will drop, but I balanced the use I will get from having them against how much more they will drop, then decided to go and get some.

  • OP how did you get free shipping?

    • I didn't, I drove down and asked for a price match.

      • -1

You might need to update the title to include the 14.95 shipping. Thanks for the post though!

        • +3

14.95 for express. e-parcel is free

        • Thanks, I didn't write delivered. I think an admin or the site added it. I've removed it.

  • +8

Half the xm4 in price 95% the xm4 in feature s. Good

  • +5

Yeah not a lot of difference between the XM3 and the XM4 it would seem. Multipoint connection, new Speak-to-Chat feature, auto-pause when you take them off, supposedly "clearer hands-free calling". That's pretty much it?

    • +11

For people who use these with a computer / laptop and your phone. Supporting multi devices is key. It baffled me that they took 4 years to add this feature when Bose had it since QC35 -1 .

      • +1

Yep, that one's a biggie for some people, especially given Bluetooth isn't great at letting you select which paired device you wish to connect to (e.g. like when I want my XM2 to connect to my phone but my PC ninjas it).

        • multipoint connection is one of the reasons I stuck to my QC35s

          • @impoze: Been hanging out for a deal on QC35s myself partially for that reason, but also because I'm tired of the Sony's touch controls and want good old buttons back. One thing I'm not sure about though - if you don't want multiple devices to connect on a given occasion, how do you manage that?

            • @Jabba the Hutt:

I'm tired of the Sony's touch controls and want good old buttons back.

That's not coming back, not even from Bose.

            • +1

@Jabba the Hutt: You can turn them off from the Bose app

        • A bit off topic but definitely agree it'd be a useful feature. But I'd definitely cope without it if it wasn't for windows. Not sure if you're in the same boat, but I can't believe Windows 10 doesn't allow automatic connection to bluetooth devices to be turned off. I use a bluetooth mouse daily (aka need bluetooth on), so the only way to prevent it from getting to my wireless earbuds is to unpair the device as it always seems to be quicker than my phone at connecting to them. Also have the same problem with the smart speaker, will be listening to music, turn on the computer and then it just connects and takes over.

    • +3

Just make sure you flash the XM3 back to ver 2 firmware and not ver 4.

ver 2 has 6dB better noise reduction, while ver 4 adds more smart speaker features.

  • +6

GOT ONE! THANKS! Rather than price matching, I also rather honour the store that has the original offer.

  • Hey, I didn't write this part of the title "Delivered @ digiDIRECT" did an Admin write it or can the community add it?

  • +1

oof good price these cans are awesome paid around this second hand.

  • +2

For Sony products, I always get a price match done at Sony online store. They are pretty quick to respond. Also, they send out feedback emails for which you get $25 voucher if you don't purchase after price match.

  • +14

Can price match @ Officeworks over the phone (on 1300 OFFICE) to get them for $246.05 :)

    • Argh, I didn't know OW had these!

  • +2

I'm disappointed that the XM4 can't do wired mode using usb-c to usb-c

    • that would have been great!

    • +1

Got to wait for those sweet XM5's now!

    • Out of interest is there any phone/tablet/laptop/desktop that has a USB C connection that can output sound directly? My Note 10+ has USB C that accepts a USB C-3.5mm dongle and my MBP 13" 2020 has 4xthunderbolt 3 (USB C type) and a headphone jack

      • +2

Technically any device that could carry USB data over a USB-C port would be compatible, you'd just make the headphones appear as a USB Audio class device, and act as the DAC.

  • +1

that's an amazing price. The M3's are still an amazing set of headphones.

  • +2

This is the lowest ive seen it without refurb. Worth it, the new model being 550$ is (profanity).

  • +10

Just price matched one at Officeworks for 246

    • Would like a pic of receipt please!

    • Could I trouble you for a PM copy of the receipt as well? Been waiting for these! Thanks!!

    • Could you please pm me the receipt please? It would be much much appreciated :)

    • Can you please PM me as well.

    • Hell yeah dude, Please PM order number or Receipt, I was a fool and price matched with Sony but they got back to me 3 hours later and denied cuz the price obviously got updated in that time, We was robbed!

    • Would appreciate a PM too :)

    • I would also appreciate a receipt! that or it be posted here to make It easier for you!

    • Sorry to beg, but can you PM the recept/order #?

  • Does the bluetooth handfree mic actually work for phone calls. I've had mine for under a year and I tried using it for handsfree during the lockdown and no one can really understand me or hear me clearly. Whats the expectation on handsfree, totally useless or should work to a certain degree ? Dunno if I would have gotten a defective pair

    • Problem is all headphones cannot use two-way (duplex) audio… yet and the sound quality when using a mic is changed from Stereo to MONO, for both the mic and the headphone.. This is a good read, it affects not just XM3s but any 'headset' that uses bluetooth only. (Alternative is to use 2.4G wireless for audio and Bluetooth for audio (over aptX or AAC). Another alternative is to buy a MODMIC Wireless and only use the headphones for ANC + Stereo sound.

GL HF, hopefully manufacturer's get off their lazy asses and stop using bluetooth classic 20years post release.

the party's over price gone up 100$

    • Man that was a quick session. I'll update the listing.

    • That was quick. A 30 minute flash sale?

      • +1

Was on since the morning at least. Maybe once it hits Oz bargain they pull it.

  • Damn was in the cart!

  • +1

Adding it to the cart it shows $359.. might have been a price error earlier?

    /edit

price on page now shows $359

    • Looks like it was a pricing error @ 259

      • I'm sure they'll survive the damage we did to their profit. Poor Office Works though :'(

      • +2

You might be right. Is $399 on their ebay store. I added to the cart at $259 and was on hold to OW to price match then gave up but total jumped when I went to checkout.

Good luck to those who got in.

    • Just went back up sorry Johnny!

    • Price was showing as $359 when I tried to do PayPal express checkout. Cancelled and filled out the checkout details manually and was able to score. Legitimately back to $359 now though

  • +2

Looks like it's back $359 again
