Just saw an ad on TV for Buy one get one free Digital cameras + Other deals. Similar to the 'buy one get one free Laptops' I guess.

    Can I just say, my email have gone into meltdown with the flood of comments from this post today…
    Managed to get the last 2 G12's from HN in Midland, am sharing with a mate of mine, plus I'm leaving the country in mid-November, so get to claim back the GST (off $699), meaning that I would've paid about $320 (when the GST is split between the 2 of us) for a G12…unbelievable price for a camera like this…

      Are you sure about claiming on the $699?

      I thought I could do that too but the receipt says that I bought 2 of the SX30 cameras (total for 2 is $393) at half the price for each (196.50) and the GST quoted is for both the cameras..so I guess i would have to take both with me to the airport (which I cant do if I sell one to someone else) and if I dont I cant claim any GST becausee the total cost is less than $300??

      Could someone clarify this for me please?

        If your receipt has split the amount between the two cameras, then I believe you will need to take both cameras to the airport in order to claim under the TRS scheme. Since your total for the one receipt is above $300, then you can definitely claim. I bought 2 Canon G12's today but it lists one camera at full price ($699), and the other at $0. I am planning to bring only one G12 through customs when I travel O/S in a few weeks. My tax invoice also doesn't show serial numbers at all - just says "Canon Powershot G12".

          Yeah, I'm in the same boat, my receipt listed me as paying for one camera at full price, and one as a bonus at $0. So I can't see any reason why I can't claim GST…and regarding the serial numbers, both boxes have the same serial number, so that doesn't really matter…:)
          Must say, I only found out today that claiming back GST is open to everyone, including Australian residents (and I assume passport holders)…always assumed that you need a foreign passport, which is why if we wanted to claim any GST in the past, I always put it under my wife's name! You really do learn something new everyday…

      Make sure your serial matches the one you paid GST for. They'll check it at TRS.

    If anyone is after a G12, the Armadale (WA) store had one on display. I didn't ask if there were anymore down the back but it seems that the Armadale store had quite a lot of all different models left!

      Disappointing, hey? Rather than feedback into the system, they take whatever they can from it. It's actually the sharing nature that makes Ozbargain work and creates community. Sadly, for many, their nature (I won't say human nature as not all act in this way) is to take what you can at your own profit. Incredibly short sighted when the fact is, helping others out returns further help to you in the long run.

        Completely agree…even though I've just signed up as a member not long ago, I've managed to save heaps through all the deals in Ozbargain. Wouldn't even have known about this deal unless it's for people here (or more specifically, m0nkeycheese..thanks mate), so managed to save a heap on a G12 just when I was in the market looking for one…I'm eternally grateful for this site..:)

          Having said that, we are making an assumption that these people aiming to make a profit in Gumtree/eBay was enlightened to this deal through Ozbargain, rather than never ever hearing about Ozbargain, seeing the TV ad themselves and going out on their own accord to get the cameras…but really, who haven't heard about Ozbargain?? :)

    Anyone after G12, XZ-1, SX230HS, S9100, FT3 HN Aspley (BNE) still has them as of 10 mins ago. However, they do not advertise the two for one at all, got to ask, and they will try to sell every accessory under the sun. The other HN in Brisbane I went to have all others except G12.

    (No I do not work there, it just happen friends like to take me cus I can always bargain prices).
