  • Noob here, this or the Dell?

What are the key differences and stuff to look for when choosing a gaming monitor?

    • +6

Dell is cheaper when you consider the features it provides

    • +12

Dell is one of the best IPS gaming monitors you can buy at 1440p. It has incredible response times, input lag, colour accuracy, IPS advantages, and 165Hz. Blows this one away.

Remmber that all Nano IPS panels have terrible contrast at that will be the only category where this would win by a lot. If you watch a lot of movies/Tv it's something to consider

        • Most IPS monitors hover around 1000:1 contrast ratio but it is true that Nano IPS are particularly bad. Although there isn't that much difference between 800 and 1000 contrast ratio. VA is vastly superior in that aspect though, no IPS can come close.

was going to ask the same thing, i managed to get the dell, my main monitor is 32" but the dell is only 27".. but will most likely have to use my 32" as my secondary monitor

    • One more noob question, this one or ultra wide?

      • 34 Ultrawide is better

      • Depending on what you are doing. For movies , yoytube or other 16:9 contents, 32" is better. For some FPS gaming 34" might be better because of peripheral vision.

        • +4

That's totally different to what most people would do though! 21;9 for movies and 16:9 for games

    • Mate that dell is IPS which makes it far superior for an extra $60.

      • ITS also MUCH smaller. :) this monitor is huge next to a 27" i have two of them. in my eye its also bigger then a 34" widescreen

  • Good price

I remember when this first came out, after watching HardWare unboxed reviews it was $399 at Centrecom.
Regret not getting it then, but still worth it at this price if you don't want to wait for the Dell to go back down in price again.

    • Oopsy, that's the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD. Differences are IPS, 27 inches and internal PSU.

      • +1

A fantastic monitor for the price though! I love mine :)

    Ignore this comment..

  • Great monitor 10bit colour (8bit + FRC)

  • How would this compare to the Xiaomi 34" monitor?

    Example specs of the Xiaomi:

Seems the Xiaomi is a ultra-wide (21:9 ratio) and has a tighter curve (1500R). Otherwise, this is a better value monitor, with the Xiaomi being the best value 1440p 144hz ultrawide.

      • Thanks Reddy!

  • How does it compare with this Philips monitor?

    • +2

Sorry, I have just realised this Phillips monitor is only Full HD.

Would be interested to know how it compares to the other dell gaming monitor:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/565681

As they're both QHD 32" 144hz VA panels but this is 150 bucks cheaper.

    Thoughts anyone?
