      • They removed the SSD promotion images from the ebay listing either 13th night or 15th. It wasn't in the listing 16th afternoon. I sent them a message around 15.20 asked about the missing SSD promo images from the listing & they didn't reply, but they included them again to the listing at 15:56 ( please check the listing revision summary)

    • @blackfox: that smells fishy, well, so what do we do now?

      • Unfortunately not much we could do now , ultimately Gigabyte was responsible for the promotion. I already emailed to Gigabyte , the response was "sorry all the prizes redeemed". Still undecided whether to keep the GPU or return it back to the seller.

Same friend. I wrote a very politically worded message via their support page. Gigabyte clearly only allotted a tiny, tiny amount of SSD's (wouldn't be surprised if it was less than 10). The promotion was a trick and I won't be purchasing or recommending their products ever again.

          • @Glacierrr: If you don't get anywhere via support, please lodge a complaint via the ACCC. This behaviour is plain misleading and unacceptable.

@Divado1: I'm a bit flabbergasted. In my complaint letter I accused Gigabyte of using a promotion they had no intention of fulfilling to trick me into buying their product, and all they could muster as a response was:
'Sorry to hear about the situation but the event ended while supply last so it means we have no spares to provide.'

I'm in the process of reporting it as a consumer issue to the ACCC. There's very clearly a gray area here in which companies like Gigabyte can use lack of clarity and technical jargon like 'while stocks last' to run 'fake' promotions in order to trick people into buying products, which isn't right. We aren't talking about Ooshies from Woolies either mind you - you'd think they'd have a bit more respect for the $600 purchase required to even make a claim for their particular promotion. Disgusting.

@Glacierrr: Can't agree more. It's no longer just about the bonus SSD which we deserve, it's the way how Gigabyte treated us so immoral that needs to be punished. We are not stupid, we just over trusted them in Australian way. I haven't been so angry for quite long, how could this happen in Australia!

              • @Glacierrr: I lodged a complaint via Consumer Affairs Victoria, I suggest you also contact your state/territory consumer agency.

                https://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/other-helpful-agencies/co…

I've also reported the incident to the ACCC, lets hope they investigate.

                • @Divado1: I submitted it as a consumer issue via the ACCC website. I'm in VIC too but didn't think it was state specific (still the same thing really).
The most important thing is that it is absolutely provable beyond reasonable doubt that Gigabyte continued to run the promotion even though they had already run of SSD's, and that would definitely fall under misconduct. We'll see what happens.

            • @Divado1: I have written to the ACCC - I'm waiting for them to get back to me. Thankfully, thanks to this pandemic, I have more time (than money, lol) so I'm keen to pursue this.

    • It was on CA's Ebay page when I purchased, and it was on Gigabyte's page when i submitted my claim. If CA knew about this earlier, they definitely did not let us know

  • Same boat, I want the MSI 2070 super gaming trio, but too expensive now, seems like the 2070 super deal are gone and price is up slightly maybe because the shortage of 3080. Will probably need to wait until Black Friday to see 2070 close to 500 again …

  • Seriously.
I registered for the SSD on 5 October 2020 and got the 'fully redeemed' email.

Aorus was still promoting their 'free SSDs' on 7 October, after I registered. Plain misleading advistising knowing customers would not be receiving the SSDs, or pure incompetence.

Wow , may be they allocated extremely limited no's SSD for this promotion

Registered on 5th and still didn't got your SSD? So basically they hold you up long enough while the promo was still on so they could lure more people to clear out their 2070s stock for two more weeks. And then told you bad luck at last! I'm speechless…

Actually I noticed this item in terms of the promotion:
      7. After completing the registration procedure and once the registration approved email from GIGABYTE has been received, you will acquire the right to receive the reward. GIGABYTE/AORUS will send the gift to the provided address within 8 weeks from the date this promotion ends.

My understanding is they didn't really count the SSDs by their existing stock for the promo but only set up a target, maybe 10. Then they will source the SSDs after the end of the promo, otherwise they wouldn't need 8 weeks to to send the gift from the date the promo ends, because they don't have the stock ready to send. Meaning they know their target had been met prior 5th Oct and they still have the promo page active until the Amazon prime day which triggered this eBay plus sale to lure many many more people purchasing their 2070s. It also means they could just send the SSDs to us as they are going to source the SSD stock after the promo anyway, they just wouldn't care.

Bring all these together, I think we should all make formal complaints to ACCC about it, like a class action. It's not only about the SSD, it's for the justice!

Worse, they were actively promoting it on their official page and via merchant. People had a reasonable expectation that there was still stock.

I'll see where my support ticket goes. If it doesn't get anywhere, ACCC or any other ombudsman will follow.

  • Even worse than what happened to Divado1, one of us ordered END of SEPTEMBER and just got the email today that it was out of stock.

    • That's nuts. Really off putting.

It’s truly disgusting how Gigabyte treat their customers. I will never buy any more product from them ever. Worst after sales service. Even if they run out of SSD, they should offer you an alternative gift which at least claim people down. we spent our hard earned money and they only send you an email telling you bad luck, you miss out !

Hi all, this forum post had some discussion on the promotion.

Gigabyte just started a new promotion for 5700XT with the same SSD, and technically today is still within the original promo period of the 2070 super we purchased. The most shameless and disgusting company I've ever seen!
