  • Never purchased directly from Dell - how realistic are the dates of estimated delivery? I've got a date of 23/10 in my order history.

    • +1

My early Nov ETA is more realistic, but Dell have been known to ship oddly early in comparison to the ETA.

    • Update regarding shipping has been provided here

      • +2

Hey mate, I actually was fortunate enough to receive mine on the 23rd (Sydney based). Appreciate the update nonetheless!

  • +1

Last time I ordered one (a few weeks back) it came in a few days, earlier than the estimated delivery. I think it's probably a bit of a lottery but I've been lucky once so far lol.

  • +1

    Thanks LiMaaa, picked one up!

  • My purchase hasn't been confirmed yet, do I just have to wait?

    • Yes. Order confirmation can take time, but if you purchased whilst the coupon was applicable it will be honoured and processed!

      • Got it, thank you!

  • +1

Got one thanks.. fingers crossed it is good with PS5 too

    • +2

Sony has not provided any info regarding 1440p output mode support.

The 60Hz support on this monitor isn't perfect. Some people reported seeing a row of grey pixels at the second last row of the monitor. That problem tends to go away in 120Hz or higher. It is unclear whether Dell is aware of it and if Dell is aware of it, will Dell provide a firmware update for people affected by this issue.

Also, the interpolation mode at 1080p is still not as good as native 1440p mode.

    • No confirmed 1440p mode… hopefully we can downscale from 4K to 1440p.

  • +1

Thanks LiMaaa - I got one too. Have been waiting for the deal and then last night Hardware Unboxed dropped their very positive review. Done deal!

    • The 60Hz mode issue some people are having wasn't mentioned in any of the youTube reviews. Some people reported the IPS glow is on the higher side for IPS (though this is panel dependent so there is a bit of luck of the draw).

Knowing Dell, and with OZB deal, it is likely Dell will oversell this monitor yet again - so there could be a bit of a wait.

Consoles weren't tested. But, honestly, XBox X|sS|sX will be fine due to supporting 1440p/120Hz. PS4 - not really coz. you have to use 1080p (interpolation). PS5 - to be determined.

Do bear in mind, as mentioned in pretty much all the reviews, just like pretty much all HDR400 monitors, HDR400 is fake HDR. This monitor is no exception.

  • +2

What's the chance of another deal on this before end of year? Still on the fence.

    • +6

      Fine, you convinced me!

      • That'd be awesome. It's less "do I want this" and more "do I want two of these, or this and something else". :P I noticed there's a lower refresh rate from Dell which could be a good match for secondary monitor.

        • +3

I have this paired with a S2721D and it's a really nice combo.

          • -1

@LiMaaa: Thinking of doing something similar. Do the monitors look identical from the front (size and aesthetics wise)? Would love a picture if you could haha.

            • +2

@18: Really bad photos, My bros setup. I'll try get better ones soon. http://imgur.com/gallery/5rglZCn

The s2721d bezel does not look that different in real life, just the way my camera is capturing lighting.

            • +2

@18: I have this setup using the S2721DGF and the S2721QD.
They look great together, bezel and frame the same. You can adjust both monitors to the exact same height.
Just takes a little bit of time to match the colours

          • @LiMaaa: Do you think you have any upcoming S2721D deals?

            • @Obey: Maybe for black Friday but nothing confirmed.

              • @LiMaaa: Are they the same in term of picture quality? I got S2721DS, not sure if it's worth buying S2721DGF for normal use (not gaming).

                • +1

@hero1211: They are different panels so there will be a difference. You can adjust settings to get them quite close but they won't 100% match. If you're honestly not gaming on it I really don't see the need for a gaming monitor like the DGF?

I use the S2721D which is your monitor without adjustable stand for my Web browsing, daily tasks as my secondary. The difference you may think they have isn't large enough to warrant paying double if you're not using it for gaming. The S2721D is a great monitor in itself for your usage.

  • +1

I finally got one! Thanks LiMaaa

  • I managed to place an order too but upon review it changed the addresses to previous addresses on my account at the last minute - after making me login a second time just before confirmation. Argh.. Now the live support lines/options are all closed.

I've submitted two emails/tickets with customer support. They don't seem to have a system in place to send auto confirmations at the moment which is weird (?!) so sent a second just in case. Now to see how long it takes to get the addresses changed….

@LiMaaa, I don't suppose you have any suggestions/advice to make sure this is resolved/fixed promptly?

    • +1

Hmm, address change huh, let me look into it.

      • +1

Thanks, LiMaaa! I'll DM my order details in case that will help.

        • +1

          Hi CallumS,

Check your order confirmation mail. It had "If your order requires changes to the delivery address, please follow this link." for me there.

          • @av8: I tried that. It just takes me to the Contact Order Support page: https://www.dell.com/support/incidents-online/au/en/audhs1/o…

Which then provides the standard Email, Chat, and Phone contact options. With Email being the only valid/available at the moment. I submitted 2 emails - for which I have yet to receive any email confirmation of my submissions. Neither the "If your order requires changes to the delivery address, please follow this link." link or Email contact form seem to be working properly.

  • +2

Wow surprised not sold out yet. Are people waiting for black friday or do they have a Dell screen in every room of the house even without a computer attached already lol

    • +3

Welcome to buy limits. I'm pretty sure it's down to a couple units left, almost 400 sold.

Edit: As I wrote this it sold out! Good work guys.

      • Hi i made an order thanks for the deal! But i cant see it in my orders made, i thought it should appear straight away, but maybe this takes a couple hours, im not sure, let me know what you think on this, thanks anyways for the deal regardless!

        • It can take a couple days sometimes. Be patient.

    • Dell have been overselling monitors lately. This one looks like is going to be the same. There is a good chance most people will be put in a queue. The next lot of big shipment of monitors is due mid to late November.

Dell has 400 of these sitting there in their Sydney warehouse… That's wishful thinking..

      • The ETA in my OP should reflect accurately. If I tried to explain how shipping, lots and manufacturing works with Dell we would be here for days, haha.

        • Well, my recent experience deal is totally different. I was assured I would get my monitor in 2 weeks + a few days. 3 days before the estimated delivery date (mind you, not changed for nearly 2 weeks), Dell extended it by 2 months.

I also called Dell 2 weeks ago and was assured my delivery would happen.

          • @netsurfer: Sounds like the original deal. It was an accidental code stack so Dell was inundated with orders and had to delay according to manufacture. It's one of the reasons these deals are limited in qty, to abide shipping timeliness.

            • @LiMaaa: It's not the original deal. It is for a different monitor.

The previous deal, Dell quickly revised the delivery date. This time, Dell did nothing for close to 2 weeks then extend it further by 2 additional months.

              • +1

@netsurfer: Ah okay, I get you. I guess mishaps happen. So far things seem to be in check regarding shipping with my deals. I have communicated the importance of realistic ETA, which is why I try to provide them on my deals.

                • -2

@LiMaaa: Well, I certainly hope Dell is honest this time.

I did call them 2 weeks ago and was assured the estimated delivery date was correct. That was obviously a big lie coz. if that's true, I should have the monitor now. Now, ETA is December 2020.

My questions to Dell was so what exactly did your team do in this two weeks? Also, why the assurance two weeks ago. Dell CSR just gave me some BS reasons.

                  • @netsurfer: I mean you could have provided me your order number and asked me to help if it were taking that long. These deals are handled by specific Dell departments, not all service reps will be able to assist you.

  • +2

    "SKLED" no longer works

  • +8

Coupon used up. Enjoy everyone! I'll be focusing on Black Friday deals next. I am already working on what I think you guys want, but if anyone wants to drop model numbers on this comment and ppl upvote the comments of products they want on deal. Would help. <3

    Example: S2721D pls

    Don't bother asking for Dock deals, U and/or P monitors, it won't happen. :/

    • You said

I have this paired with a S2721D and it's a really nice combo.

      So S2721DGF and S2721D pls :)

      (refresh rate the big difference?)

      • +1

Other than the refresh difference… S2721D - no VESA stand (looks like it has VESA mount though). No USB 3 hub. No "fake" HDR (HDR400).

        • Thanks. Really hope it has VESA mount. For a secondary monitor the other specs don't really matter to me. And yeah the HDR stuff is whatever, it all seems so underwhelming and god knows when impressive looking HDR will come to monitors. Cross that bridge when I finally get to it I suppose (for a decent price anyway).

My god… missed this for the third time. I should just quit my day job.

    • Haha same.

    • +1

      Userame checks out. fu3xfu3xfu3x.

  • Why is this model on sale so much? Exchange rate benefits or what?

    • +6

I keep annoying Dell to offer it? lol. In fairness exchange rates do help marginally to offer it on deal.

      • +1

I'm not saying stop by any means. Well done :)

One of these times I'll be lucky enough to 'upgrade' my S2719DGF, with my luck I might as well wait for 240hz IPS 1440p's hehe

        Thx for the reply

        • -4

Why is this model on sale so much?

Because the margin on 1440p gaming monitors right now is high. Even using the previous deal for calculation, the price was still 50% higher than its 4K 27 inch sibling when discounted. It wasn't the cheapest 1440p 120Hz+ monitors even with the discount last time.

          • +2

@netsurfer: I'm sorry but that comment is somewhat baseless, I'll tell you right now, with expenses to ship during covid, the margins are small. Dell just wants to get their products out there because they think they're good products and will build customer loyalty. I agree with them.

            • +1

@LiMaaa: This is a good idea. I used to hate dell but this monitor is so sweet

            • +1

@LiMaaa: Yeah I'll definitely be looking at dell monitors exclusively in th future. They are awesome.

            • -3

@LiMaaa: It's not baseless. I have multiple 27 inch monitors and I definitely paid premium for this monitor, even with the discount (and mind you, I paid less than this deal). It still costed me 75% more than my 27 inch 1440p 60Hz IPS monitor I bought last year.

Sure, it was the second cheapest IPS gaming monitor in this class here in Aus and the cheapest is missing a few quality of life features that this Dell has. Deep down, I would prefer 4K high fps monitors, but they are just far too expensive.

Looking at the OZBers feedback comments from previous deal, this monitor does have some minor issues. Some were mentioned in the reviews briefly.

I have this monitor and I have used it for some time now, there is no doubt I paid some premium for the high refresh rate, the VESA stand, and the includes USB 3.0 hub. I did have realistic expectation before buying this monitor (knowing the panel technology used and the recent trend of consumer grade IPS panel). Put it this way, I was not surprised about those OZBer feedback comments and I did try my best to help them realise that's just the nature of current consumer grade IPS at this price point. This is a Dell S series monitor after all.

Why do you think Dell is offering heavy discount on S series monitors? You shouldn't use bling bling reviews to justify the purchase. It should be about you really like the monitor and able to use it properly. At the same time, be realistic and know there is no free lunch being offered by Dell here. There are some minor issues which I do hope Dell would fix in a new firmware (but honestly, that's wishful thinking).

              • +2

@netsurfer: Okay, but you have a biased view based on your experience and you keep stating it, almost like its fact? If you had issues, take advantage of warranties, replacement or refund options. I too have this monitor and I'm sorry I don't have half the issues you or some others mention, even my uniformity is good, perhaps I just don't notice them, I'm unsure.

It still costed me 75% more than my 27 inch 1440p 60Hz IPS monitor I bought last year.

No brand mentioned? That's like comparing my $1 Chinese generic usb-c cable to my $10 baseues(I'm sure I spelled that wrong). Or Samsung b-die 'premium' binned memory vs hynix which under performs… I mean they're both ram and work, so no big difference, only minor features, right?

You're making assumptions why these monitors are being offered on deal, instead of just sharing your experience.

I personally think rtings and other reviews offered in this thread are some of the most honest, which point out pros as well as cons and give the customer an accurate depiction of what they can expect from a product. Ofc there may be minor issues with any product and each user's experience is different. We would only hope a company would offer solutions to these in future updates or iterations.

If you want to know why Dell are offering these deals, it's market share. I've seen the the bottom line, honestly we're not far off it. I just don't really see your point ig, you're basically saying this has features that you personally don't need and you're paying for them. If you don't need it, don't buy it, there are other more affordable options like the S2721D, buy what makes you happy. P.S. I didn't neg you.

  • Oh no, I had it in my cart, code worked then in check out it said that code is invalid. I'm sad.

  • +4

Got my 2nd + 3rd and 4 friends bought at least one. <BLaDE of KiLL> thanks you.

    • +2

wtf lol didnt expect to see bok in here small world, hope xele is alive and well

  • +1

Will there be any other deal? Boxing day? Black Friday?

  • +1

    Haha damn
Last time I could have bought but decided not to
This time when deal popped up I 100% changed my mind and mentally said “come back at 6pm and buy” but then work came in like a wrecking ball.
    Next time :D

    • I wouldn't worry too much. The reason you haven't purchase one is because you don't need one (otherwise you would have bought one already).

Unless you have a gaming setup with a need for high refresh rate, you don't need this. The 60Hz implementation on this isn't bug free.

It's more expensive than the deal before and even with the previous deal: $507.93, you would still be paying for some premium for high refresh rate gaming monitor.

      • Ha thanks man
        You’re obviously right.
I’m currently gaming (via console) on a monitor but that’s more due to current covid circumstance. While I would like a nice shiny monitor i am getting by. Will probably go back to TV when home

Maybe I’ll wait to see the FPS the new consoles spit out and decide if I go monitor v tv

Considered shifting to PC gaming and an element of the research and build interests me but I also am not sure id utilize it as much, esp given all my work/job is on a work provided PC, so build would be entirely for gaming and general life tasks

  • +1

Third time's the charm! thanks LiMaaa for the deal :)))

Hope my luck don't run out for the 3070…

  • +1

Thanks LiMaaa, this is a great deal and myself and a mate managed to get one each. appreciate your effort on these.
