"Return to your Maldivian Over Water Bungalow as often as you please" does not mean they will allow you to stay all 365 nights continuously. I suspect there will be a maximum stay per return or else you wouldn't need to book each individual return - the room would be yours all year round. Link to terms and conditions?

Be careful what you wish for….unless you're writing your memoir, or a 500 page bodice ripper or you have personal transport to the nearest surf break you're going to get awfully bored in that time….and yes I've been to the Maldives a couple of times (live aboard surf trips). Then there's the health issues to consider of course.

Save $100 - $200 paying with currencies like ZMW on 28 degrees card.

    Sydney used as reference:

SYD to MLE = $1000 pp

Max duration of stay in Mále is around 30 days based on their website so…

Then every 30 days return flight to a nearby country like Sri Lanka if you can't get an exemption ~ $350 pp * 11

    Then return to AU

MLE to SYD = $1000 pp

    Total:

    $41,334 - $150 + ($1000 * 2 * 2) + ($350 * 2 * 11) = $52,884

    $52,884 / 365 = $144.89 per day

Note: This is before any ff points and status credits are taken into consideration.

  • Looks lovely but it would be too remote if there were a COVID breakout on the island. Which would be unlikely I know - but my luck is terrible.

  • I still find it incredible that big money is still building five star resorts in the Maldives when any school age child will tell you they'll all be under water in the foreseeable future, just like many of our low lying Pacific islands (hello Kiribati etc.)

For this price, I expected lunch too!

  • The tricky part as people have mentioned is the cost of meals ,drinks and snacks. Definitely only require 2 meals a day as the buffet breakfast is more than enough. But I have found maldives resort prices for food and drinks to be very high due to the fact that they have to ship / fly everything in as well as the fact that you have to pay it as there is no other option. But what an amazing deal. Although not being able to see family , friends etc might get boring after a while.

    • Although not being able to see family

  • If they give unlimited Internet to work from home

  • $41,334 only? cheap as f***. Ordering 1 now. :)
    Thanks mate.

After a while a hotel stay just becomes another place to live.

    $41,334 = $794/week

    7 breakfasts for two people = $280

That’s $484 on accommodation per week.

Median rent varies by capital city from $385/week in Perth to $582/week in Sydney March 2019 Quarterly Review.

So I guess it’s a bargain for some and not for others.

    • Breakfast is included so it is $397 each per week.

      • I accounted for breakfast at $20/meal.

$794 - $280 = $514. My maths was a bit off in my first post, should’ve double checked my workings.

It depends how much you value the breakfast.
        Your calculation:
        $794 - $397 = $397 = $28.35 per meal.

        • Ah I understand now.. no, I was thinking you thought breakfast was not included and you were adding that in to the cost at a rate of 20 a day. Then dividing that total by 2 to get a per person cost.

Now I get what you were really doing so ignore my other post.

        • But I don’t eat breakfast😢
