55% off Netflix: Basic ~A$4.66, Standard ~A$7.07, Ultra ~A$9.49 Per Month (VPN to Turkey Required) @ Netflix Turkey

3731

November 2021 - See new/latest post here

OzReminder for those who may not be familiar with this hack. Thank you for the original post Ulysses31. Here are some steps to setup a Turkish or Argentinian Netflix account to save $$$. Results may vary so its best to read up, there are plenty of comments below and members happy to help. Unfortunately it may not work for everyone so please keep that in mind.

Netflix plans

Turkey Basic $4.66 Standard $7.07 Ultra $9.49/month
Argentina Basic $4.02 Standard $6.61 Ultra $9.64/month (Note: Taxes will apply)

Step 1: Please understand that following all these steps may not work for you

There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
* Modem reset for faster internet,
* Cash back program purchase tracking,
* Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
* Targeted bargains, and
* Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Step 2: Obtain a Turkish or Argentinian VPN

Express VPN
PureVPN
Torguard
VyprVPN
Windscribe

Step 3: Confirm Turkish/Argentinian IP

IP Check

Step 4: Sign Up to Netflix

In a private-browsing tab open Netflix

Step 5: Enter Card Details

Possibly working: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie
Mixed reports: CBA, ING

FAQs

Q My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work.

Q Where can I purchase a Turkish Netflix gift card?
A Others have had success purchasing Turkish Netflix gift cards (for a premium) or using Transfer Wise.

Q I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A You can try! Visit Netflix website and cancel your subscription ASAP. It will expire at the end of the billing period. Then follow Step 1-5.

Q I thought it would cost $4.66 but I was billed for $5.00.
A Please note that changes in the foreign exchange rate will impact the subscription fee. Happy to update.

Q How do I enter an international mobile number?
A Ignore any requests for a mobile, open Netflix in a new tab and confirm account is working. If you must, there are a couple of resources for codes being sent to an international mobile number. Please note that these services may not work since others may have used the numbers for verification codes from Netflix SMS Codes PVA Codes SMS-Activate SMS Approval.

Q Do I need to use a VPN every time I access Netflix?
A No, VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

      • I can confirm as I just did it today, got charged AUD9.54 in TransferWise for the top tier subscription.

        • You cancelled it today, but did your billing period end today as well?

          • +1

@Cusack: I cancelled before the next billing cycle - couple days ago.

      • I just did that .. the only issue that it charged me $10.xx even when I selected standard plan for ARS459 (charged me for ultra ARS 752)

        • +1

Sorry to hear that, mine's 54.99 TRY = 9.54 AUD

        • ARS459 is pretax. Trying changing to Turkey on your next billing cycle

    • why is this “deal” posted as it doesn’t work anymore!

Because requiring a phone number doesn't mean it "doesn't work".

There are solutions provided in the OP, such as those websites which allow you to receive a Netflix SMS on a Turkish number

Sure, it's an extra step/hassle, but it still "works"

      • -7

Incorrect. Those mobile numbers have been flagged by Netflix, and no longer work.

        • +1

Those mobile numbers have been flagged by Netflix, and no longer work.

I most recently used one of the sites on 24 February and successfully received a SMS. Do you have a more recent data point?

Hi OP. Used all your instructions, account established.
But, Netflix asking for a mobile number to confirm the account.
The only option is to enter a Turkish mobile no ie prefix “+90”.
    So no go.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Hi Atam. As mentioned the account is established ie I can log in, but Netflix are asking me to confirm with a code to be sent to my mobile.

      • Hi Atam. Appreciate the help but getting too hard.

Hi, It could be a dumb question but can someone explain me if do we need to use VPN all the time when we using Netflix or only when signing up for it. Tia

  • +1

I think Netflix Turkey price is now increased to TL 54.99 for premium plan (no longer TL 41.99
    https://www.dailysabah.com/business/tech/pandemic-tariff-net…

    • +1

You're right, but it looks like Turkey will still be the cheapest.

This article and their reference spreadsheet seem to be factoring in the Feb/March price hikes. They state that Turkey is the cheapest for the Premium plan and Argentina is cheapest for the Basic plan, but they don't seem to be factoring in the 35% tax in Argentina so Turkey should still be cheapest for all plans.

Edit: OP has already included the Turkish price rise into the title/description.

      • +1

Turkey is definitely still the cheapest regardless of which tier of Netflix you select, because the Argentina prices do not have the 64% tax factored in

  • They just actually increased turkey prices two days ago.

  • im not sure if it still works but the way i did around 6 months ago was started vpn got all the way to the netflix payment page and i disconnected my vpn and refresh the page 4 5 times and kept pressing confirm or pay i cant exactly remember it then it actually worked after few tries
my latest payment was on 1 march $7.65

but recentlly prices changed in turkey ultra was 41.99 tl now its 55 or something so it will be few $ extra

    • I tried that and was charged AUD$10.99 for basic plan even though TL prices were displayed.

      • im assuming they fixed that trick then

  • Price varies each month with exchange rate. My Argentine account varies between 8.50-9.50 for two screens.

  • How does MTCgame compare to Turgame for gift cards? The latter looks slightly cheaper.

    • I've bought NF Giftcards from turgame successfully. Bought enough to put my account into credit until late next year.

      • Hey. I've been trying the last 2 days to buys gift cards from Turgame with 28 degree card but failing each time. Have checked with 28 degrees to see if card is blocked (is not). How did you pay and did you order via VPN?

        • I just checked my history, I paid with Paypal (my 28degrees mastercard as preferred payment method in paypal). I can't remember if I used a VPN or not. There a strong possibility I used my expressvpn though. Hope that helps.

          • @hodgey: thanks will try a vpn. paypal seems to add more service fees.

  • Hi all

Has anyone purchased a Turkish gift card and paid for the whole year but they have an Aussie account? Would that work or would I need to sign-up for a new Turkish account? Thanks all!

  • ING on Turkish Netflix worked for me after a bit of back and forth between bank and Netflix support.
I had to play dumb with Netflix live chat support and have them set up the ING card. Apparently Netflix blocks ING on VPN or something like that.

  • What I found when I signed up was that I could not login with the VPN running.
So I logged in, then activated the VPN, once it connected I went to the accounts page.
    Worked like a charm

  • I still paid TRY41.99. Billed on Thursday

Will it go up for existing members?

    • definitely should be.
      I experienced with Argentina

  • +5

I wasted alot of time and effort trying to get my Bankwest Platinum Cc to work in all VPN configurations by myself without luck.

The easiest method that worked was:

    1. Cancel Netflix Subscription
    2. Contact Netflix to remove credit card details from their system
    3. I waited 1 day after Netflix subscription expired (probably not necessary)
    4. Use VPN to buy Turkish Netflix gift card
      (I bought a 100TL card for $21 AUD)
    5. Use VPN to re-sign up to Netflix Turkey using the gift card for credit (I used my original Netflix account and Australian mobile)
    6. I had approx 3 months of Netflix from the Turkish gift card.
    7. Contact Netflix Live Chat through the app at anytime before the gift card value expires to add your credit card details. No VPN is required. The operator will send a secure link in the chat for you to add your credit card details to your account.
    8. My Bankwest Cc is now added to the "Turkish" netflix account for the monthly subscription payment. 😊
    • This worked for me, you just have to play dumb with the netflix support for awhile when they ask you what you have tried

      • How did you do that? They keep sending me to the normal payment page?

    • No secure link for me, only told me to try another card

      • I managed on the second try, after telling them my bank did not receive any request from them. I think it varies depending on who you get.

  • I have been using Turkish Netflix’s standard plan from over 6 month and it works great! It costs me 29.99 TL which is equivalent to approx AUD 5.58. I continued with my existing Australian Netflix account when I switched. All I did was cancelled my Australian Netflix account, waiting for the remaining days of that account to complete, waited till the expiry date of the plan, and then accessed Turkish Netflix through VPN to resume my subscription to choose Standard Plan. I did not have to enter any new card details as my previous one and the current one is Macquarie.

    • +1

There’s a price increase and the standard plan that was TL 29.99 is increasing to TL 40.99 (approx AU$7).

      • I hope old customers are still able to continue with old prices. My last month’s fees was 29.99 and the next one shows up at 29.99 too.

  • The g2a netflix Turkish gift card option still somehow comes out to be cheaper than this hack. Current price of 100TL is AUD20.59. This was originally shared here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/594190.

    • How? With the current exchange rate 100TL = ~AUD17.26

    • pay directly using your debit card is cheaper imo

  • Anyone used one of the SMS sites successfully?

    • I'd like to know this too… I can't get past the mobile verification part. Opening a new tab makes no difference… It keeps asking for a Turkish mobile number 😕

This was with my expired account that was set up already with my mobile and amex card.

  • +1

What about PayPal, that’s my default when my current AU gift cards expire. Can I cancel, leave my PayPal on there and then resume on a Turkish account? Or am I better off linking a credit card now, before cancelling?

    • +2

A few months ago I had a lot of trouble with Turkish Netflix because my Australian account had PayPal on it - Netflix in Turkey doesn't have PayPal as a payment option, so it asks for a credit card, but it wouldn't let me add my card at signup without a Turkish mobile number.

But I was able to re-sign up to Australia with my debit card (Macquarie), cancel, wait out the month, and then sign up with Turkey.

      • Hey lbft

Once you signed up with the Turkish price, were you able to go back to your original Aus account and change the payment method to PayPal again?

        • I never tried to be honest.

  • +1

I did the turkey thing a while back, letting my existing account expire with my normal phone number and then signing up for Turkey. Avoids the SMS hassles.

Billed out of Transferwise (Now Wise) card and I often let it fail each month so its a reminder to top it up with 41.99 TRY. Re-tries successfully later that day. Price rise doesn't seem to be too bad for future payments..

  • My last Turkish Netflix ultra charge was $7.88 (41.99 TL), why is this deal higher?

    • +1
      • Ah ok didn't know that, guess I'll get the higher charge this month

  • +1

I’ve been using Turkey payment for over a year. Currently paying with my ANZ Black FF credit card and previously paid with the Qantas Premier credit card. Before that I had several months of AU gift cards - had to let it lapse before signing up again with the same acc on Turkey with a VPN.

I’m on the standard plan and have been paying approximately $5.50 a month… cos the OP says $7 I ended up Googling, and found out there’s a new price increase this month :/

  • Once I sign up with the VPN do I have to use the VPN everytime I want to watch Netflix?

    • +1

      no

      no

Finally decided to cancel my Australian Netflix in preparation to change it to a Turkey account. Thanks, I appreciate the effort.

  • +1

Do you need to run VPN everytime you watch Netflix? Or just for registration purpose only?
    Any advise?

Once I got the account, can I share the additional 4 accounts to others, and they can still watch Netflix Australia content without VPN? Or Netflix USA, if use VPN USA?

    • +2

No need to run VPN every time, it's only for the registration process.

Yep, you can share the account and they'll be able to use like normal without VPN.

      • thank you for the info. :)

    • +3

1 - Do you need to run VPN everytime you watch Netflix? No
2 - Or just for registration purpose only? Yes
3 - Once I got the account, can I share the additional 4 accounts to others? Yes
4 - And they can still watch Netflix Australia content without VPN? Yes, the VPN is only for registration purposed and for setting your account paymnet/currency so you'll be billed monthly in the currency; hence using a VPN so show you're an Argintinian or Turkish local, then forever paying its currency. Once that is done, you can jump on a plane to LA, and log into Netflix, then you'll automatically be seeing Netflix USA library, jump on a plane to Japan, and log into Netflix, then you'll automatically be seeing netflix Japan library etc. In Australia, you'll be seeing the Australian library. Your family members could also be traveling, so at any time, your family members can be accessing different country libraries from the same account. Example, you could be in the USA watching, your family members in Aus at the same time watching, all the while paying with the Turkish lira because once aupon a time during account set up, you used the Turkish lira as your home.

      • thank you for the clear info… much appreciated :)

I signed up with the Argentina one last time uing my UP card and it wored

  • i think argentine cheaper, i got charged 8.80 last tiem i think

  • Netflix Argentina only shows prices in USD for me with NordVPN, and I cannot use UP Bank for Netflix Turkey.

  • Thanks Op.

Subscription had been cancelled for a while.

Had issues using the CBA card set up. Swapped it over to 86400 card from Aus IP address, turned VPN, changed plan, pricing updated and went through with not issues.

  • Not saying you should do this, but I recently tried one of the AliExpress Netflix share purchases. Got a 1-screen for 3 months for approx A$7.20 ($2.40/month). It works fine, but again, can only use one screen at a time (or else it could mess up the other users on that shared plan and cause problems). Was skeptical at first as it seems dodgy, but all is OK. I won't post which store/item I used as it would seem like I'm advertising for someone. Just sharing my experience. If you only needed 1 screen, it's a good deal. For more than 1 screen, the post here seems clearly better.

    • or you could do the exact same thing by making a post or searching the offers on the ozbargain classifieds. Less chance of being ripped off.

    • When i looked it needs a 26 dollars delivery charge, why is that?

      • No idea. I didn't have any delivery charge. It's via email. Not sure what you found, but these AliExpress offers seem to vanish (maybe because Netflix asks to take them down, who knows). To find them, search "Netflix 4K" on AliExpress and sort by price (lowest first). All the ones I see there are free shipping. They actually created a DHL tracking number, but it's not real and nothing is sent. It's just to make it look like they're sending you something I guess so AliExpress doesn't crack down on them. Who knows. I took a $7.xx gamble and so far all is OK.

Agreed on Hodgey's post above. Safer that way. I just decided to take a chance as there was a Cashrewards offer and I couldn't find anything else to use it on :-)

    • thanks so much for this @bk1973 - had so much problems with this VPN stuff I've given up…
Now just bought 1yr on aliexpress will see if it works lol

    • +1

Update: Do NOT do the AliExpress Netflix. It's now a problem and am opening a dispute with AliExpress. I figured it was worth a try for a bit over $7 with $5 cash back from CB/SB (can't remember which). After 3 1/2 weeks of use (of a 3 month plan), it didn't work anymore. The supplier needs to renew the service for the sharers and hasn't yet (been 24 hours almost). AliExpress store has been non-responsible the last few days as I told them that Netflix said there were 3 days left……. so, lesson learned. Let's see how AliExpress protects its consumers (or perhaps, protects it's con-artist sellers).

      • +1

It does now work again. They updated the login and password. They do this when a service runs out. Apparnetly, they use gift cards and stuff to pay for it all, so they never renew, just open a new sharing. So it does work, but I have to change the language every day as it seems to revert back to non-english every day.

  • Can I cancel my Australian Netflix account if I have credit from an Australian Netflix gift card. Will my account then expire, at the end of the current billing period, whereby I can use vpn to reactivate my account in Turkey. I assume I'll still have credit in my account, same account but now a new location?

  • +1

I love this. been a turkish subscriber for over a year now. It's great

  • anyone recommend Credit card can use in turkey account?

try my amex CBA ING all of them are no working

    • ttransferwise and adding TL seems to work for a lot.

      • Is ttransferwise can be used as a credit card?

        • +1

It's a debit card (i.e. you need to put money in it first) but basically all debit cards that are not EFTPOS can be used as credit cards. Card number, expiry month year, CVV. They can hypothetically be distinguished from true Credit Cards, but they can operate just like any other Credit Card.

          TLDR: Yes

          • +1

@illumination: it's looks like a turkey virtual credit card,am Iright?

            • @41202: No. It's just a prepaid card that is designed for multi-currency usage because they don't charge expensive forex rates etc.

Kinda like 28 Degrees Credit Card but a debit card version - so I guess you could say more like Revolut

              • @illumination: i see
is anyone can confirm wise debit credit card can definitely use in Turkish account?

because issue a card will be charged $10

                • @41202: yes it still works, i switched mine over using the TW debit card around 2-3 weeks ago.

  • +1

is there a similar option with Disney+?

    • +1

I can confirm that Disney+, like Netflix, let's you watch in another country.

I use my brothers account that he set up, and uses, in Singapore.

      So should be feasible.

      • People on forums said it is harder to use Disney+ like this Netfilx Turkey option.

Disney+ in India is very cheap for their premium plan but unless you use a VPN to watch it you need to get a OTP to your phone each time to log in (according to reddit)

        • Disgusting pic.

          Kidding.

Back on topic, I assume you're referring to the comments here.

Geez. OTP every time you log in…

Also Disney+ India is combined with Hotstar, which from the reading I've done means that the Indian (and Indonesian, also Hotstar) versions of Disney+ different to that of rest of world..?
