Does Android Auto work on this, or is it just the Find X2 Pro that it doesn't work on?

    • X2 pro has been my best performing device for AA so far. I did have p.o.s in the past so the X2 is a slight upgrade for me. Wish I had a Samsung tho tbh

      • AA doesn't work on my x2 pro. I called OPPO and they said they know about the issue and can't fix at the moment unless I bring into their support centre and they would wind back my ColorOS version

        • +4

Scheisse. Ok maybe it's working because I'm yet to update The Os. Will definitely hold off.

        • Had a hire car for a few days the other week and AA worked on my x2 pro with ColorOS11. What didn't work exactly?

          • @mikr: When you plug the phone into the USBC, the head unit says no response. I've tried two other phones which still work fine.

            • @PSEACT: Oh ok, I didn't use that function. Just did Bluetooth/wireless and the apps worked.

          ???
Devices can be very finnicky with the USB C cable so it could also be that.

          • @AusNugz: Nah I've tried multiple cables and phones man, the other phones are all fine. When I called them they didn't let me finish my sentence, they already knew the problem and had the response ready to read out.

            • @PSEACT: Yeah that's crazy bad. So dissapointing but I guess their phones are good value.

        • My X2 Neo is latest version colorOS 11 and AA works fine.
Though it does popup a message "device not supported". I click ok and it goes away, works perfectly.

    • Wow it doesn't work on the x2 pro? Dayum. I got the x2 neo haven't got a car with Android auto do haven't been able to test it

      • ColorOS 11 is the problem. Don't know if its just on X2 Pro or all.

        • +1

AA working fine on my Reno 10x zoom with ColorOS 11.

  • How does this compare to my old pixel 2 ?

    • Also curious about this, looking to upgrade my 2XL.

      • me 3

but the pixel 6 comes out in August supposedly.

        • +6

This phone is 48 mega pixel

        • +1

          weird
a neg vote for stating a new phone is meant to come out.

I do not understand, but will now neg vote with glee.

  • How does this compare to nokia 5.3 at $97?

worth to pay more for this ?

  • -1

no nfc for this one. Is it half price for all oppo brands?

    • +3

I have this phone and it has NFC. It's a good phone and have had it for 3 months so far.

      • is it going to get android 10 ?

        • +8

It says I have android 11 when I go into the settings

      • -1

I believe you have purchased an overseas model. There is no NFC on the Australian model:

        Frequencies:
        GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz
        WCDMA: Bands 1/5/8
        FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20/28
        TD-LTE: Bands 38/40/41
        SIM Card Type: Nano-SIM / Nano-USIM
GPS: Built-in GPS; supports A-GPS, Beidou, Glonass
        Bluetooth: 4.2
        WLAN Function: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
        OTG: Supported

        • +6

I got it from the Good Guys as with two others for my parents. I'd post a screen shot if I could. Won't argue with anyone though that has bought one from them if it's different.

          • @Pindone: I would be super suprised if the good guys were selling non AU models hmm. are you 100% sure it was the A91?

Oppo is notorious for not adding NFC support, it was one of the main reasons why the A91 flopped in the price bracket it was launched in. Paying ~500 bucks for a phone without NFC, even 1-2 years ago, was a bit steep.

oppo specs for au (where the above list was from) https://www.oppo.com/au/smartphone-a91/specs/

            • +14

@lulzenberg: Yes it is definately an OPPO a91, it's specific model in the settings is cph2021 oppo. The good Guys don't sell overseas models. I am looking at my mum's as well that has it next to me now too.

The box says A91 and it is registered for warranty purposes with Oppo Australia.

Here is a link that talks about the NFC toward the end and other models not having it.

              https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/oppo-a91-better-than-a-working-…

Too much energy arguing about something Infront of me and not I front of others.

Wish I hadn't chimed in now letting people know a feature they might be seeking.

              • +5

@Pindone: I'm not sure why you're getting bogged down under the guise of arguing, mate - i've not been hostile, just genuinely surprised as this is counter to my experience having sold these phones from a Betta store.

If anything it's good that you did chime in, i'm definitely glad you did?

                • +4

@lulzenberg: It might have been a reaction to you coming across as a bit of a know it all and telling him he'd bought an overseas model when he hasn't.

I know "no NFC" is the new "no B28" trigger response to low cost phone deals these days.

                  • +1

@Brianqpr: I guess that's what text does - but i mean, saying what you've personally experienced, conveying that as something you know, also sighting the manufacturers website and blog posts all aligning with your personal experience - would you not also voice this personal experience, backed up by manufacturer websites and blog posts, instead of just taking someone's word on the internet and not saying anything?

          • +4

@Pindone: seem to remember similar confusion with Oppo a52 not listed with NFC but comes with it

            • +1

@bitcoinorbust: It is specifically listed as support on the AU website:
              https://www.oppo.com/au/smartphone-a52/specs/

              Frequencies: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA: Bands 1/5/8 FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20/28 TD-LTE: Bands 38/40/41
              SIM Card Type: Nano-SIM+T
GPS: Built-in GPS; supports A-GPS, Beidou, Glonass, GALILEO
              Bluetooth: 5.0
              WLAN Function: WLAN 2.4G / WLAN 5.1G / WLAN 5.8G, WLAN Display
              OTG: Supported
              NFC: Supported

            • @bitcoinorbust: This was my experience.

          • +5

@Pindone: I purchased my A91 from the Good Guys just over a year ago and it has NFC on it.

It updated to Android 11 last week.

        • +1

          https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/oppo-a91-better-than-a-working-…

Our test software shows ST21NCF secure NFC controller, yet this is not on any publicity or specs, and other international models do not support it. There is an NFC setting under ‘Other Wireless Connections, and it supports Google Pay. Remember only the genuine Australian model supports NFC.

          • -4

@Miss B: We sold these at a Betta store - they definitely didn't have NFC. I'm struggling to believe we would have sold non-AU stock too.

I guess it's time to buy one and find out hah.

            • +1

@lulzenberg: it has to be turned on, it's in a review by someone on that phone. appears Australia is about the only country that got NFC, so defaults were to ignore it in base setup.

              • +4

@quog: I have one from Officeworks that I bought about a year ago and it has NFC. Nothing needed to be turned on. I'm struggling to believe Officeworks, Betta and Good Guys were all doing grey models.

        • +1

it was the same with Oppo A52. everywhere it was listed as no NFC but it did have it, and Google Pay worked fine

        • I bought my a91 from Woollies last year & it has NFC on it
It was updated to Android 11 a week or so ago as well

  • +1

To think I brought a Huawei Mate 20 Pro for $1600 with $100 off at JB not too long ago, and then this manages to match it at this price in every area except for the camera maybe.

    • +2

That sounds like very long ago - Mate 20 pro came out 3 years ago?

      • +3

        Time is relative, I guess.

    • +1

Ouch I got one new from HN on Clearance for $600 and still happy with it great battery life superior screen and resolution and also the triple camera 👍

  • +4

Reasonably good specs for a mid range phone.
Though it's over 2 years old and P70 is roughly equivalent to SDM660.

However you won't find another phone under $200 with 8GB RAM and FHD+ AMOLED screen.

    How's the camera?

  • -5

next week is a boring week at jb, nothing exciting.

  • +3

Mediatek kills this deal 🔥🔥🔥 😂

    • Link?

    • +1

Dude, $174. Still a deal at this price.

  • Whats the warranty on these? 2 Years???

  • What would it take for one decent Android compact phone without crippled performance? Just one is all I ask for!

    • +2

      More than $174?

The processor is the literal only thing scrimped on here. I'd say this is a bargain for $174.

      • feels like waiting for jb to clear x2 lite like officeworks did a while ago at 194 or 259

        • That's a big gamble to make, but if OP is willing to wait phones will continue to eventually drop in price as they become older..

  • Thank you, bought!

  • God dammit brought this 2 weeks from JB for $349…I used the discounted gift cards to pay, so the total paid was like $315. Besides that, any ideas how I can convince them to give me store credit or something to that affect?

    • +1

Should be able to just go in and ask for it, I did when I bought my phone 4 years ago. Mind you it was only a week later when they had it on promotion for $50 less

    • Not on a phone mate…

      • Should be able to change your mind within 28 days. Then buy it again. They don't want that so they will probably offer you gift card worth the difference.

    • +3

Buy this phone with the lower price
      Leave this phone in box
Return this phone with the old receipt?

      • I thought of that, but the receipt has the IMEI number on it…

        • Also wouldn't they at some point check the IMEI of the phone vs the one printed on the box?

          • @Hahuh: I meant to say, leave the new phone in the box.

Youre right, that wouldn't be a wise idea.

  • +2

    Offer already started.

    $174
    $175 OFF^

  • Just bought one for my kid!
    Thanks for that.

  • Will the battery last for 2 days minimum? My 3 year old Samsung J8 still lasts for 3 days on low usage so I have forgotten the feeling of constantly charging my phone now

    • Dayum son, that's solid

      • I only use my phone for like 2-3 hours a day watching youtube really, that's why it last that long

        • Still pretty decent, must have decent cell reception as well ie doesn't drain your battery.

    • +1

Oppo f11 is really close in specs to this. According to this https://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3 the f11 gets 109 hours in their endurance rating with 3 hours of video playback and 1 hours each of voice and internet browsing.

I'm assuming your Samsung is the Exynos (7870) model. 3500mah battery with a 720p screen. Can't find a phone on that list with the 7870 but I would say that it's somewhat hard to compare to phones these days (even the Oppo would be considered budget / low spec). Yours will be considered ancient.

The Oppo should have some aggressive battery management comparable to the j8. I would say with your usage, you should be able to get 2 days easily.

Don't forget you get vooc https://www.oppo.com/au/smartphone-a91/
You could connect the phone for 10 minutes and itll be a sizable charge for you.

  • Dam, better than a52? although dual sim is nice feature of a52

  • Bought it

  • NFC?

  • -1

Going to buy first and regret later. It's still better than the Samsung A30 I'm using…

    • I'm using A20 lol. It seems like a damn good phone at that price

      • It isn't that bad a phone. It does lag sometimes and the camera is a bit below average. That's my only gripe.

        • What I meant was the Oppo was great at that price. Yeah this phone has issues but it's not too bad. Probably need to upgrade

  • +2

    OOS around ADL.
