Is this a water-tight offer Rep?

Where can we view your CVC graphs ?

    • Where can we view your CVC graphs

Mate, where is your scuba gear?
You will need to put them on first before you jump into the ocean to dig up those graphs.

  • +2

    100/40 for 69 is a decent price

    • +3

      Agree.

If their base price was $80 (instead of $90) I would considering churning. But currently on a grandfathered Superloop plan for 100/40 @ $80 and reluctant to take the risk of having to take up newer plans of 100/20 @ >$80.

      • +4

        Stay where you are

      • +1

my plan with SL has jumped back to 99 PM for 100/40, they upgraded me to 1000/40 3TB for now but I will opt out whenever that ends….. paying 99 for 100/40 is just ridiculous…

        • my plan with SL has jumped back to 99 PM for 100/40

Were you on an introductory rate before they reset the price to $99?

they upgraded me to 1000/40 3TB for now

How did you get this? $99/mo?

          • @muwu: intro was like 84 PM.. I took up their offer from Dec 2020, with 84 PM for 6 months then up to 99, for 100/40 unlimited

in about 3 months, they upped me to 1000/40 3TB for free for 6 mths, so it should fall back to 100/40 around sept

the introductory offer ended in june and I'm paying 99 pm from then.

very likely to jump out when the speed falls back to 100/40, not paying 99 pm for that….

            At last, FXXK NBN

            • @HD9990: To me 1000/40 3TB is a downgrade compared to his 100/40 unlimited, lol.

I've easily burned through about 10TB this month already on my current 100/20, and still a week to go.

              • @Beyond:

I've easily burned through about 10TB this month already

10TB in 23 days? That's an average of more than 18GB/hr, 24/7. How are you consuming that much data?

                • @Russ: Linux ISOs

                • +1

@Russ: My PC is trying to use a bunch of the data from my google drive, but first, it's doing a one-off file verification; in that process, it downloads the entirety of a file/sub-folder before approving an internal hash check.
I have my drive set to be mounted as a local drive.
It gives more flexibility as opposed to using an online drive as normal or mounted as a network drive but has this pain in the ass process.

      • Wow that's a ripper deal.

        • It's not as great, but I pay $50 for their 50 Mbps service, with no known expiration date.

    • Yep.

  • Will the 100/40 ever be dropped to 100/20 like many other carriers did ?

    • Most RSPs dropped it from their easy to view/choose retail offerings because of changes made by the NBN, but if you want/ require a 100/40 connection it's easily obtainable, usually you just need to dig a little deeper on their websites or give them a call and be prepared to pay for it. Unless you're on Telstra, apparently they've completely gotten rid of it, most likely will start at pushing mobile broadband for home.

  • Anybody is using them ? How is their quality ?

    • +1

What do you mean by 'quality ?'

      • +1

Speed quality whether the actual speed is greater than 40, 42, 45 or greater during peak hours and whether there are a lot of drop outs ?

  • Do you offer static IP?

    • +1

I asked on chat on their website before and I think they said it's an extra $16 a month for static. If the fee wasn't so high, I'd jump on their 100/40 plan.

      • +2

        That’s just pathetic.

        • +1

EDIT - Just asked again and they said it's $13.50 Monthly for the static IP. Still expensive. Also asked several times if they use CGNAT, but they never answer that question - just reply stating you can have a static IP for $13.50 a month.

      • That's a deal breaker for me. I'm wit superloop and $5 a month for my static ip that I have to have for work.

        • what the benefits of using a static IP? also, is $80/m 100Mbps FTTC is a good deal with Dodo?

          • +1

@webtherapist: No that's not a deal with dodo. Superloop are way better and cheaper at the moment. $69 for 100/40 for first 6mth and superloop tech support are fantastic. After 6 months change to a different rsp for another 6 month deal and back again.
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/641893

          • +1

@webtherapist: Google static ip. You most probably don't need one.

  • Vocus is an absolutely crap broadband provider. I remember EPIC broadband who got their bandwidth from Vocus and there were frequent disconnections.

    • +3

Anyone refute this or provide additional support this comment?

      • People who have used EPIC broadband can vouch for my statement.

        • I think Superloop uses vocus too and it was pretty good.

          • +4

@4kbargain: Superloop has their own network. Vocus themselves are not a bad provider like borat is mentioning above. There are many happy customers of Mate Communicate who are a Vocus reseller. Even Launtel resells Vocus services in some areas.

I think he/she is just sour because of a bad experience with Epic.

            • @bonezAU: I remember vocus was showing up on the speed tests for tangerine (I think), have been with superloop (and now showing up as superloop, not sure if they were with vocus). Either way happy with superloop and the speeds are better (always 52.x Mbps), not sure there are readily any better intro deals around for $55-60/m - can't go back to tangerine for 6 months and already a customer with origin energy. If they could bump the speed up to 100 for $69 be ok but rather pay $50-60. Belong doesn't seem to have any deals, Aqua sounds a bit iffy but no idea about them.

              • @G-rig: I'm with Superloop (no they don't use Vocus) and I can't fault them either, really good peak speeds with no noticeable slow down.

                • @bonezAU: That's good to know, perhaps worth staying knowing their infrastructure/speeds are good. In theory they should all be the same here for HFC but know they aren't from the past. $50 instead of $70 for the same thing would be alright. I think tangerine would work out best given the referral system and random requests from OzBargain.

      • +2

It depends on how much the reseller is paying Vocus for CVC.

  • In fact their website looks crude like EPIC broadband. I doubt if Aqua is a rebranded EPIC.

    • Don't you mean you wonder?

It could be possible, but unlikely as Aqua Mobile shows up as being based in Melbourne and EPIC was Sydney based, both business names were registered in 2019, but it would have to be a pretty long con and Vocus would have to be in on it, as I doubt they would enter into another business deal with the person/people behind EPIC.

  • I've got TPG and according to them my home can only get max 50mbps… Is there a way I could check the line speed myself?

    • I can't remember if your modem has a max speed indication?

Otherwise, no, fancy gear required. And you're probably not going to get an nbn tech you come out unless your house can't even get 12mbps or whatever their cut off is (Iirc that cutoff is increasing in the future but not to 50mbps)

But I'm no pro so i hope you get other answers

You can get a cable tech to redo your line from your wall to socket. Might help if your house is old. But not necessarily by much. I think mine went from 33 to 48mbps when cutting off 4 sockets and doing new cable. I wanted to keep one spare socket for a house alarm but the tech said "nbn doesn't allow multiple phone sockets".. dunno if true

      • +1

tech said "nbn doesn't allow multiple phone sockets".. dunno if true

It is true. NBN is basically pushing radio-frequency signals down phone lines, which were designed for audio-frequency signals.

Radio-frequency signals like seeing a straight connection from source to destination, any "branches", either before or after the "destination" (your modem) act as selective absorbers of some of the radio frequencies. In electronics parlance, they're called "stubs" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stub_(electronics)

As well as making some of the VDSL frequencies useless, the "branches" will also bounce the signal back and forth, like being in a room with strong echoes. This makes it hard for the modem to know which signal is the main signal, which limits the speed the modem can achieve. It may not even be able to "lock on" to the main signal.

When the phone lines were used as phone lines, with audio-frequency signals, an echo of ~100 nanoseconds effectively did nothing. For someone speaking at frequencies from 300Hz to 3kHz (typical voice frequencies), a 100-nanosecond echo just made the signals imperceptibly quieter. And due to the physics of how the signals travel along the wires, the volume of the echo is usually negligible at audio frequencies. VDSL uses frequencies up to 12MHz, and the echo effect becomes quite strong at that frequency. The physics explanation for the difference is that once the length of a wire exceeds about 1/10th the wavelength of the signal you're trying to push down the wire, the signal starts to interact strongly with the wire. At 3kHz the interaction starts to be noticeable at lengths greater than 10km, for a VDSL signal at 12MHz the length is 2.5 metres.

        • Thanks for the explanation.

Whilst it makes sense from nbnco's lopsided perspective, they can get (profanity). It's my house, if I decide the utility of a monitored alarm exceeds the utility of 5mbps on an already slow connection, that's my right to have it.

    • Yes PM me, I'll check.

      • Can you please let me know how I can check my line speed?

        • I had a business selling NBN services, so I have access to the provider's tool. I don't think there is a way for individuals to do it.
But if you call your provider they can tell you.

This tool is generally just for FTTN

    • +3

Go to https://futurebroadband.com.au/sq/ and put your address details in. It will say:

"NBN Speed Estimate: NBN advises the expected TC4 speed will be xx Mbps"

This data comes direct from NBN and is very reliable. It's what your line can handle.

Most came after their last deal and i think they are a young startup

  • So what is this nbn Fixed Wireless 75 MBPS plan ?
Is it over 4G ? And using which provider ?

    • Need to know this too!

    • +1

nbn FW is a wireless signal that connects to a nbn FW tower. You can use any ISP who does nbn FW. 75Mbps is the maximum and you might get slower speeds if your local tower is congested. nbn FW is not using 4G.

  • +1

Already used Tangerine, SL(within 6 months) & currently on ABB. Looking for good deal with Reliable NBN provider. No contract. Find all previous 3 reliable in my area. ANY REC??

    • Mate or Launtel.

      • +2

Mate is still 69pm for 50/20 compared to 79pm for ABB. I will give it a go.

        • +1

I'm in the same position, no point moving to mate from superloop for the same price ($69)

        • Used mate in past, they seem to cap their speed, while speed graph showed good speed, streaming especially netflix was shit. They keep saying we are not blocking anything but something was not right. Moved to tangerine and everything was good.

      • +1

        Spintel

        • It is way cheaper then mate.. I guess its 55pm for 5 Month… thanks

    • Whats wrong with this deal? I just signed up a couple weeks ago so cant talk long term but its been good so far. No contract so bail if it turns out bad thats what im going to do

    • +1

      Spintel

  • Sooo I am currently on Exetel $50/mo 50/20, coming up on month 5 or 6 for their promo. Will need to churn.

Now without getting tomatoes thrown at me, what is the current quality state of fixed wireless? Worth the go for 75Mbps for $50/mo? I would love to get more speed, but my line is max ~45Mbps. Thank you in advance for any advice!

    • +1

don't forget to give 30 day notice to Exetel.. I'm considering either Mate or Spintel.

      • Yea I have it saved as a reminder in my phone to let them know. I panicked for a minute and realised I haven't missed the window!

      • +1

Thanks for this comment. I was considering moving to TPG and didn't realise 30d notice (once I eventually move on from them) is a thing.

    • +1

How good/bad FW speeds are depend on your location.

  • I cant find it on your website, is there any fee for credit card payment?

  • What should we expect with changing NBN providers? Do you end up not having internet for hours or even days? My wife and I both work from home so it would be difficult if we don't have internet for more than a day

    • +1

      depends on your connections.

    • +1

Your new ISP would make use of a spare port on the NTD box. Keep your existing plan active until the new one becomes active. Cancel the old one shortly thereafter.

      • +2

        That only happens on FTTP.

        • Do you know what happens for HFC? Thanks!

          • @sigplay: You'll be connected to the ISP you're with now until Aqua goes live. I don't know how fast Aqua are at activating a new service. You need to update your routers WAN username and password provided by Aqua.

            • @Twix: That's good then. When we switched from ADSL to NBN, we didn't have internet for a few days so I was afraid that's what happens with changing NBN providers too. Good to know it's better. Thanks everyone!

      • Is that for all FTTP connections? I always thought that the new ISP/NBN co just disconnects the old service gives you the new connection…

        • The new ISP can overtake the same port or go on a spare port. Mostly the new ISP goes onto the spare port.

    • +1

My churn was done instantly (in a minute) when changed from tangerine to superloop, may vary on location and network type (HFC). Just remember to leave at the end of the billing month as there's no pro-rata.

  • Their website says they also do a 75mbps plan @$50 then $70.

If only there was more info on these guys.

  • Anyone got an idea if you can use Telstra Smart Gen 2 as BYO?

    • You can :) you won't have access to the 4g backup though

  • I tried to look at their website for more information regarding free trial, but can't find one. Does that mean the first month is free?

  • Signed up to $50 50/20. Installation the following week. Excellent communication and service from Paul (he seems to be the main man here). Can't fault anything - getting 52/19 on HFC, no slowdown during peak.

    • Installation or churn? Did you already have HFC? Should be very fast once they have set up the account etc. May try this out too, that price and speed is good. My last month finishes on the 5th, how many days overlap would you allow? Cheers

Edit what network do Aqua use, vocus too?

      • Installation! Extremely happy with the communication and service.

        • +1

Hmm ok thanks. I've got a good connection at the moment (9ms ping, 52 dl, 19 ul), even is Aqua is a bit slower I could change up to the $69 plan for 100/40 would be the same price as staying at Superloop after the promo price.

The website is a bit lacking, assume no app or login.

Hard to know if these fees mostly apply to the mobile plans or NBN - *Early Disconnection/Cancellation Fee $199.00 *

Non-Direct Debit Fee. - Link your account to a bank or credit card to avoid this charge. $2.50
Paper Bill Charge - Switch to e-mail billing to avoid this charge. $2.50
          Late Payment Fee $10.00
Bounced Payment Fee Applied if your direct debit fails $10.00
Number Swap and Relocation Fee $99.00
          SIM Card Replacement Fee $15.00
          Plan Migration Fee $15.00
          Early Disconnection/Cancellation Fee $199.00

          • @G-rig: I've got 10 ping, 53 dl, 20 up at the moment (7pm) with a mesh network.

        • Just having a look at the Additional fees and charges

          Early Disconnection/Cancellation Fee $199.00

Anyone know if this applies to NBN if cancelled prior to 9 months?
Some of the fees look only applicable to the mobile services.

Hopefully could test out 50/20 then perhaps 100/40 if it's slower than what I'm using.

          • @G-rig: No contracts so they can't really charge that fee.

    • Good to know as I’m thinking of moving from Belong as this deal is cheaper (for the 9 months) and faster. I’m getting 32/19 during peak but during the day it hovers around 20/10. Video conferences have been unreliable some days WFH. Are you able to check what you get during the day or what you get is constant?

      • +1

Constant: I was worried about peak issues. No troubles at all. Vocus is the wholesaler.

  • To monitor your usage you may call on (03) 8400 5212 or Email
    to [email protected]

The website doesn't seem to have an account login section or any bells and whistles, maybe not needed most of the time?
    Anyone with them ?
