      • try again??

i have change the setting to private messages now.

        thanks!!!!

  • Thanks for this great deal

  • How do I tell if I need the 46mm or 42mm?

Also.. LTE is the esim version?

    • Just go for the bigger screen 46mm Classic or 44mm base model.

      Yes, LTE is esim.

  • Well i just pre ordered the 4 bluetooth 44m Great price for a brand new watch. What to do with my active 2 now? Hmmm

    • We buyback. Com. Au

  • +1

Noob here, so if you get the LTE version you can make and receive calls without your phone? Do you have to hold your wrist up to your mouth/ear like an idiot? How is the call quality?

Can you do anything else extra with LTE? Does it have it's own data cap or does it share the same as your phone?

    TIA

    • +2

Correct you can use the watch as a phone without your phone being in BT range. And yes unless you connect vis headphones you'll be talking into the watch. Call quality itself is usually alright but through the watch speaker it's tinny af

However you need a compatible esim plan, usually only offered with your 'high end' carriers and cost around $5/month add on.

  • Do they sell Watch 4 accessories yet? I'm trying to reach $350

    • get a classic ?

      • Not sure I can justify the price on the 46mm model. But i'd have to see the size difference between the 44mm and 42mm irl to make a decision. I might just buy a wireless charger to bump it to >$350 but the wireless charger is only 9W and costs $47…

Luckily there's 26 days left for the sale haha

  • new westpac choice account, no offers, anyone else?

    • +1

In the same boat. After speaking to a few different people on the phone at Westpac I have established that they know nothing about any of their offers. Or what/when/how they are made available to customers.

My suggestion would be to transfer money to your new account. Create the digital debit card and make a purchase.

I will call them again on Monday afternoon as by then my account/card have been active enough to qualify for the advertised offers they list on their website.

Woah, just realised my 5 year old daughter has an edu email address from school! 😂

    • So does my kid but I don't know how to access his inbox lol. How are you doing it?

      • +2

Yeah, took me a while to figure out too. I guess it might be different in VIC? But I had to login to the NSW Department of Education Portal and then click on the Email link to add her email into Gmail.

        https://sso.det.nsw.edu.au/sso/XUI/#login/

        • +2

oh mate…oh lordy. Thank you for your service! haha I've broken in!

          • +1

@ExtraSalt: I know! If only I figured out earlier this year, I could have got the Lenovo USI pen for cheaper! And that is legitimately for my daughter to do her school work! 🤦‍♂️😂

          • @ExtraSalt: How did you get access to this? primary school?

            • @llanfachreth: Yeah my kids a preppy. We got an email months ago with his email and password for home learning while we are in lockdown. I didn't put all the pieces together until @John Kimble mentioned just logging in via the gov education website so I signed in and it worked so now i have it on my personal laptop as well. Turns out he's recieved so many emails from the school lol… Oops.

              • @ExtraSalt: Haha
Oh yeah same, prep, but no edu email as far i can see. Maybe not all schools have it

                • @llanfachreth: Do all communications come to you or your other half? I got my email 21st July… Not saying you would've got the same date but at least the same time maybe?

The school would've used it to sign your kid up to the home learning apps. Showbie and Epic for us.

                  • @ExtraSalt: Thanks will check with her, her hotmail is full she never deletes haha

  • Ordered the 46mm LTE classic in black for $439.30. Stoked.

FYI I had a $50 code issued in December that wasn’t accepted through Westpac Rewards (showing as invalid). However it went through without any issues on the EPP site.

    • same :)
hope it arrives before September 17 as it says on invoice

  • Anywhere have these on demo yet, so I can see/feel the difference between the classic and non-classic?

    • +2

Should be in store on 10th September if your lucky enough to not be in lock-down region

      • Keep in mind that the pre order price will likely be gone by that time though.

  • Can anyone give me a 50$ promo code from the EEP website, I try to get it from my email but they did not sent , been waiting nearly a day

  • +1

    Can't decide between the 40mm GW4 or 42mm GW4C. But I know I want to get Silver.
Currently rocking the original Black GW 42mm which is a bit too big for my tiny wrist.

  • +3

So I've made up my mind that I want a 46mm Classic. Does anyone know whether the black or the silver is more likely to show smudges/fingerprints/etc?

Also for anyone who is on the fence between the standard and classic models this was enough to sway me. Obviously that's just one person's experience and of course there are protectors and such that would come in well under the $105 difference - but it's food for thought.

    • I had a Galaxy Watch Active 1 and when going for a run using the touchscreen is painful. My thinking is the physical bezel will be much easier to use whilst exercising, so that I why I am getting the 4 Classic

      • Any insights on different watch weight / form factor?

Comparing smart watches 30 to 60 grams against old traditional stainless steel 200-gram watches~

Reviews suggest that the difference in a few 10-gram increments is noticeably heavier between the Galaxy Watch4's larger size, stainless steel models and non-classic active aluminium body.

    • I'm wondering if the non-black colour option for the non-Classic is preferable, given that it's soft aluminium, too.

(that being said, that black bit in Reddit post is the same for all colourways)

  • Anyone having problems ordering from the Samsung Govt EPP store? Keep saying " We are sorry but your transaction could not be completed at this time."

  • +1

Pulled the trigger via westpac (its states 15% off, but the pricing would as per OP's table). the $50 voucher code does not work.

Realised the order only appears in my "westpac-samsung shop" but not when i log in to shop.samsung.com on its own (using the same login id & passwd).

  • +3

Anyone need $50 voucher PM me.

    • I would appreciate one please

    • I can't pm atm but would love one if you got any left :)

  • I would appreciate one please

  • I too would appreciate a code if anyone has one to spare :)

  • Would also appreciate a code if anyone has one spare please pm. I signed up with 4 emails and I'll return the favour if/when I get them. Ty.

  • Throwing my hat in the ring - can i also please, pretty please, have a code tried multiple email address\browsers\vpn and no code coming through.

  • Im a new user, not able to send private message. Can someone kind enough to share the $50 code to me please?? Please PM me. Thankssssss :)

  • Anyone have any recommendations on whether I should go for the 4 or the Classic?

Anyone had experience with the the 3 or the Active and can comment on the weight and size?

I’m leaning towards the 4 in 44mm mostly due to the extra weight in the Classic

    • from the reviews iv read.. the classic has a slightly better battery, also is less likely to get scratched due to the stainless steel bezel
seems like the battery sucks tho, 1.5 - 2 days at the most.
i have an amazfit with a battery that lasts for 2 months at a time lol, tho its not as feature packed. id only be buying a galaxy watch for NFC.
ima sit this one out and wait for the 5 and see if theres been a significant improvement in battery

      • Battery is the same. Both smaller versions have the same sized smaller battery and larger have the same. I've held onto my S3 frontier since launch and I was ready to finally make a move. I'd hold onto next gen if I could but I don't think this fella will last another 12months for me lol

    • I own the (large) classic version of the Samsung watches. The weight is noticeable at first but would become normal soon after. The size looks reasonable even though I have a small wrist.

As I have everything on, I need to charge my previous watches every night except the current watch 3 every second night.

The classic version looks like a "real" watch - with beautiful faces (I use Always On Display faces where they never go black on my wrist). Classic. Elegant. Sophisticated. Yet old fashioned.

If you prefer to be contemporary, then go for the non-classic versions. But they can look "cheap".

  • If anyone's got a $50 would really appreciate. Would.post it on the codes page too.

  • -3

Non education emails told not intelligent enough to shop please look elsewhere at normal prices please

Does anyone know if the battery drain is faster on the LTE version vs BT only version?
If the LTE isn't in use or disabled via setting, would it not use any battery at all?

    • Would like to know as well

    • Yeah thats what the reviews says before about the LTE versions of smart watches. Battery will drain faster compared to the BT version.

      • which review is this?

      • +1

I think a lot of the reviewers don't actually do any research and just make assumptions to get a video out and get some YouTube clicks…

AFAIK the LTE is automatically turned off when the watch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. So in normal use it shouldn't be any different, obviously when you are using it by itself with your phone elsewhere it will drain quicker than one that has no LTE connection in that situation.

        • I think for that toggle reason, the LTE would drain faster theoretically. Like how when you are in a low reception area and your 4G is constantly pinging for better service. I guess you could manually toggle LTE off and only on when you require it rather than letting system learning deal with it

  • has anyone been able to use the $50 code on the westpac customer store site?

    • Failed for me

  • If anyone has a spare code please pm me. Thanks in advance! I have tried with three emails but haven't received any. Will share my codes if I eventually receive them

  • Anyone got a spare $50 voucher code? Signup with 4 emails 3 days ago and still haven't got a code yet.

    • Having the same problem, anyone else been able to get the voucher successfully…? I tried the Chatline but they were of no help either… Sent email to support mailbox and am still waiting…

      • I had to manually request the code in email even though I immediately got marketing spam…

Support said your [popular mainstream] email provider may have completely filtered out all promotional emails (…)

Finally got a code and was waiting to use it

Code does not work in the Watch4 order…

Emailed support again and they said the code is not eligible to use here, which directly contradicts the information from other OzBargainers here

        • +1

Depending on which EPP portal you use. The $50 code only works for selected portals.

          • +1

@nosrad: For example, it doesn't work on the Westpac EPP portal.
It does work on the education portal.

  • Talked myself into a Classic 46mm. Can't decide if I need LTE or not….

    • get the LTE
      its $35 more for LTE
      might use or might not
would get better resale value on LTE as RRP is $599 and $699 LTE

      • +1

$70 difference in the LTE 46mm classic vs non LTE.

        • Sorry was comparing to 42mm LTE
          I ordered 46mm classic LTE was $439.30
Seems like a great deal 😄

    • +2

The way I decided this for myself was to take a conservative lifespan of two years and multiply it by the $5 a month Telstra or Optus would charge for number sharing plus the $70 price difference. So $190 all up. $190 divided by 104 weeks comes to $1.83.

Would I pay $1.83 a week for the convenience LTE would afford? Yes I would.

      • +4

Yeah I know what you mean, for less than $2 a week it's not much.

The only problem lies with you being stuck with a main provider, Telstra/Optus/Vodafone. You can't take advantage of any of the smaller providers deals like boost etc, so in reality the actual cost may be significantly more than $5 a month.

        • +2

As a Boost customer this is what held me back from LTE too. There are plenty of articles indicating these wholesale providers will get esim functionality in the future but the added cost of that and what time that will rollout is still unknown.

          • +1

@camsmith12: Yes apparently ACCC has put the big providers on notice and said they are "watching" the situation, whatever that means.

You can bet whenever an iPhone comes out that's esim only, which is something I'm sure apple will do within the next couple of generations, they make sure it's available before then.

  • Probably late to the party with this one, if anyone has a spare voucher they're willing to donate I'd much appreciate it. Thank you

  • +4

FYI all re: battery life - https://www.wired.com/review/samsung-galaxy-watch-4-classic/

"I tested the 40-mm Watch4 and the 46-mm Watch4 Classic. The former barely lasted a full day, and that's without the always-on display (AoD) sucking up power. It always required charging before bed if I wanted to track my sleep. The larger Classic, however, kept the lights on for a full day and a half, even after sleep tracking. It was slightly less with AoD, but not by much. Go for the bigger sizes if your wrist will allow it."

  • Anyone have any luck using a $50 voucher with the Westpac discount?

    • +2

I emailed Samsung about it and this was their response:

"I am sorry to say that as per the terms and conditions of the promotion the Marketing Opt In Voucher is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Please feel free to keep this code for the duration of the promotion and utilise this for a future purchase of over $350 in value."

      • Well at least you got a code. I am waiting after subscribing through 4-5 different emails.

        • My dudes, don't let this $50 stop you from buying it, the watch is on a pretty big discount already. If its something you really want and you like it then do yourself a favor and treat yourself because you deserve it :)

    • didnt work on the westpac page for me, it does work on the education store though

  • Anyone got a edu account they'd be willing to help me pre order with?

    Regards!

  • Can anyone please PM me a spare $50 code. No luck on the email. Still waiting. Cheers

    • +3

Email them. Got my code this morning.

    • +2

      you gotta email them
I emailed friday and they responded today

      • I emailed them over the weekend, hope they respond soon!

  • +1

I signed up for a $50 code on Friday and finally got it about 10 minutes ago, seems like they do it in batches because some others I know got them at the same time.

If you are having issues receiving the email, Live Chat's suggestion is to email [email protected] (from the email you used to sign up).

  • +2

As others have mentioned, $50 code gets emailed in around 10-15 mins time. Happy to share mine if anyone needs it. :)

  • So which one is everyone getting? Classic? which size/colour?

Browsing reviews and seems like black scratches off and smaller sizes have a pretty bad battery. So might go for larger classic in silver?

    • I measured my wrist and went off a wrist watch size guide I found online. My 15cm wrist will fit a 40mm a lot better than 44mm. I've gone with the non-classic because I am worried about scratching the metal - I intend to buy tempered glass protection for the watch to protect the whole surface. I've gone with black.

    • -1

The classic is stainless steel and the black colouring is embedded into the steel, it's not a coating like on the non classic model, so if you get a scratch it will still be black underneath.

So don't let that put you off the black if that's what you want.

      • That is not corect.
it's pvd coated. The black isn't 'embedded'

If you want a black watch which isn't coated, there's ceramic, plastic, carbon, … but not a metal.

        • Ok fair enough!

I had read a comment on Reddit with a heap of upvotes stating what I said… But I guess I should have fact checked myself. I can't find anything to back up my claim (or yours either tbh).

  • +6

A kind stranger on here shared their $50 code with me and I was able to use it to order my 46mm Classic on the weekend.

Now my own code has belatedly come through (but only after having emailed Samsung support last week!).

So if you need a code, send me a PM.

    • Just PMd you hopefully it's still available… I'll do same if I get my code.

    • Hi everyone,

      This has been claimed now.

      • +2

All good. Managed to get the code after Samsung responded to my email request… Seems that it's the only way to get the code based on my experience…

They only responded to 1 of my 2 different email accounts sent… bought the 42mm silver watch 4 classic Bluetooth via Gov EPP. Ships 13 September 2021.

Wonder if this preorder deal will continue to 23rd September given it'll no longer be a preorder after the 13th?

  • The westpac offer seems to have gone all.offers are completely gone. That's what I get for procrastinating….

  • Looks like there's a Monkey Bum feature too: https://www.techradar.com/au/news/samsung-galaxy-watch-4-cla…
