  • Just ordered S21 256GB. Originally showed backorder, went back and re-added to cart and backorder banner magically disappeared. Also bought without any plans, but had existing Telstra NBN account.

    • Hrmmm, yeah, the phone model I ordered at 1:07am that was on backorder is now not on backorder if.i try to order.it again. Great.

Luke, are you able to confirm this (profanity) won't mean that phones ordered first up will be put to the back of the queue?

  • +1

Ordered for a family member, initially said it was on backorder but closed the tab and went back after 2 mins (as I had to update my account's address), and then instead it said 3 - 5 days ETA while ordering, and no warning about any backorder. Hopefully arrives in a timely fashion.

  • Trying to make a new telstra account to buy and it wont go past the first step.

" Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'UnstructuredAddress' "

no option to not make an account?!

  • +1

Had the S21 in the checkout page since the deal went live, but ultimately decided after ~30mins not to buy as I don't really need it now. I'm ashamed to call myself an OzBargainer.

    • I think that makes you more of an Ozbargainer than you'll ever know

  • I reckon s21 is the best value for money in all this phones available right?

    • -2

I reckon the 12 Mini 128GB is better

I have the Mini and the S21 Ultra but don’t rate the standard S21. The price is good but not a great phone

      • Im an apple user myself but i just meant in terms of price

        • -3

The price is very good but so is the price of the iPhone 12 Mini and I think that is a much better phone.

I wouldn’t want to “Upgrade” to a standard S21 unless I needed a new Samsung phone and I had something before the S10

  • "Includes $52 discount per month when you stay connected for 12 months."

"Min cost $1284 when you stay connected on the Telstra Upfront Mobile Plan Small for 12 months, and may change if the month-to-month plan changes."

Hang on a sec, so it's only 50% off if you stay connected for 12 months?? The 50% off only applies month to month and if you cancel the plan you have to pay in full for the remainder of the phone?

    • No, you can. buy outright without selecting a plan. Discount is applied at checkout.

  • are the phones unlocked?

    • Yes

  • +2

Finally secured S21 5G 256 GB outright without any plan. Hoo hoo. Going to bed now. Good luck to all.

  • cant log into telstra ID now, getting errors

  • JUST TO BE CLEAR: Do we need to purchase s21 with the plan for the deal to work??

    • No

    • No

    • No you can buy it outright

  • Ordered Grey one, and that is on backorder.

  • Just ordered a S21 256gb outright for $672 (back order). What a steal!

  • -2

Won't let you purchase outright without a plan. Extremely misleading.

    • -1

It does. Read the comments above.

      • It doesn't. Read my comment below.

    • -1

Incorrect. Just select the outright option and keep scrolling down and select 'next without choosing any plan.

      • Incorrect. When you did that, it failed when validating your details as part of the checkout process. I tested purchasing it outright with and without a plan. Never failed when I added a plan (apart from the scheduled maintenance), never worked when there was no plan included.

  • +1

Finally secured S21 5G 256 GB outright without any plan. Thank you OB

    • was your on backorder? I selected grey and it is still on back order :(

  • One hour and twenty-two minutes later, I have an order. Good luck all.

  • Bought both S21 and S21 Ultra, but seems to be on back order. Wonder when we will receive them?

  • +2

Still Something went wrong on the process page. Any tips?

  • +2

Unable to add payment method on checkout. Goes something went wrong.

    • I had the same error, but it worked with an existing payment method.

  • +4

    We need more ID
We're unable to process your order at this time.
For help placing an order, please bring the following to a Telstra store:
    Your driver's licence or passport
Two other forms of ID, such as a Medicare card, a valid credit card or birth certificate
Your proof of address (your lease agreement or purchase of land contract).
We've emailed these details to you for your reference.

Please contact us on live chat.

    Take me back to Telstra.com.au

    That's a shame.

    • Getting same

  • I can't seem to get past the credit check part unless there is also a service plan on the order but once I get past that screen I can't remove the plan without restarting the whole stupid process and having it fail again. For the people who managed to order successfully - did you already have an existing Telstra service?

    • +1

same issue here. about to give up

    • +1

I had a free Telstra sim which came with a $30 backup phone ages ago. I'd used that to create a Telstra ID, but I did not have any active service.

      • +4

Thanks for the info. I only got it working here by purchasing it through a family member's Telstra account that has a service on it. Seems that right now you need at least a Telstra account that has something on it, even if it's not active. Even then it still made us to a credit check to buy an outright phone only. It's a great price but the whole experience has made me less likely to want to return to Telstra.

  • +2

Please fix ID verification issue! and payment issue…

  • +1

Can't get past the verification stage 🙄

Edit : Yup, plan needs to be added to get me through the final stage. Not sure if by the time I get a $2 sim today if it ll still be on.

  • +1

As a new telstra customer the only way I could make this work was to add a $55 / month plan. I tried several times to just buy the phone outright and it failed everytime at the verification stage. I've accepted the wording states that the deal is only with a current plan..
Order accepted, status shows "Your item is on back-order. We’ll be in touch when it’s been dispatched."

    • +3

i tried with and without the plan on and could not get past the ID verification. bah!

  • Deal is inaccessible.

    • Just worked ok for me

      • Did you have to verify your ID?

    • I eventually succeeded using the advice from others here to buy and activate a $2 SIM using a new e-mail address to get a working Telstra ID.

  • +3

How do you get past the something went wrong error? I tried both drivers licence and passport

    • +3

      you cant. It's a POS

      • Ended up adding a $55 plan to check out, total cost is $679 for the s21 128gb, minimum term is 1 month so i should be able to cancel after i receive the phone. All in all 679 is a pretty good price, although rrp was way inflated anyway. This phone is not worth more than ~850 imo.

        • +1

I did the same but with the 256GB. The price is still decent at $55 more than expected though I'm not thrilled that a wall charger is going to be yet another $30 on top of that. Not including a necessary component in the box is ridiculous for a phone at any price point, nevermind a >$1000 one.

  • Possible to get this on a llan without the monthly sim cost?

  • +1

I currently have a service with Telstra for my dad, I was able to purchases two S21 256GB outright.

    • S42 is a great phone mate. Happy fathers day in advance.

      • The twins are secured but on backorder, wondering if be delivered in time.

  • +8

Why must paying outright for something require a credit check?
I have an existing Telstra I'd, and no current plans.

The site allows me to select the phone, skip plan selection, shows a summary of what I will pay and then the first screen is credit check to determine my ability to pay?
Would not that get proven after I enter my card details anyway?

This is poor design and execution, and an example of disconnected departments.

Plenty respect for the the author but none for the teams supporting this.

    • When they sell it at this price…they don't give a fork.

  • +1

    i cannot give them money

    • Even if you wanted to, they seem to be failing to take it off you, seeing all those errors people are facing.

      • i want to but i cannot :(

        • I could have (or so I assume), but would not. At least this month's Telstra day.

  • The funny bit is, it goes from being available to being backordered from product listing page to cart.
Just how many click baits is Telstra day?

  • I managed to order for myself and the missus, same product (grey, 256G). First one is back ordered, second one is in progress to be shipped?

  • +1

    Just got the grey 256

Was the only 256, all other colours were only 128

  • Silly question but what’s the return policy in case i don’t like the Samsung phone?

    • -1

Lol all that effort just to end up returning

      • +1

No effort for me took barely 2 mins to checkout

    • Most retailers don’t do charge of mine here of you opened it

  • To those that cannot proceed you may have to go in-store to verify your ID. I was successfully ordered the S21 128GB at 1:15AM. Then ordered a second S21 256GB at 2:03AM. Good luck everyone!

  • +2

Getting an error at checkout everytime. Unobtainable.

  • I went to the page with the discounted price. Select GB and colour, selected outright, then asked to login with a really old login and obsolete mobile phone number. I was then asked for ID, chose drivers licence, and then paid the discounted price.
    Went through easily.

    • +1

perhaps only affecting new users then

      • I think you need to be able to log in. Didn't need to go onto plan. Did try for 40 minutes when the site was under maintenance. When they check your ID, your details have to match exactly, like when activating a sim.

        • +2

logged into new account with no issues….details on verification page matches my ID. It just hits a 'something wrong' page. Doubt its managed to go through verification

  • +3

My first day back and was great to see a good deal from a well known company, but this is a mess, not because of technical server issues which sometimes can't be helped but misleading advertising.

Telstra advertises the promo through rep and website with the option to purchase outright. Forced to add a $55 plan defeats the purpose of the telco definition of outright, you're paying an additional charge and locked into a plan for a minimum of one month to purchase your device outright which you fully own after payment cost of the device.

Rep should have already amended deal title to include additional 'hidden' charges yet fails to do so. Just unsavoury behaviour from what should be a reliable and trustworthy telco.

Sorry to all those bummed out with how this went down. Hopefully in the near future I can get you guys some great deals going again. <3

    • +1

I bought S21 256 without adding on a plan. Credit card charged $672.

      • If it's been amended ignore a majority of my comment, but earlier I tried and you could not, perhaps live changes going on. I still can't create a telstra id and at this point give up. Goodluck to those who manage to grab a deal.

        • -1

          Try calling Telstra

          • @abacus: At 3am after 3 hours of roadblocks, I'll take it as a sign this deal wasn't meant to be. Thanks anyway.

        • +1

I managed to create a Telstra Id by adding to cart, but it won't go past verification stage unless I add a plan anyway

          • @MeesusEff: Same with me, which is why I mentioned it seems it's forcing a plan on new customers.

    • You mean more mobile deals?

      • Look at my profile, other deals. :)

        • +1

          Oh your associated with dell

=) sorry i just assumed you were with telstra

  • Ordered at 1:05am - not long got notification that delivery is expected by Saturday :)

    • Really? I ordered at 12.54am and no emails yet :(

      • Did you get the track your order email? That came right after I ordered.

        • Unfortunalety not just the
We've got your order email :(

      • Is yours same as mine on backorder like this? https://ibb.co/K9bz6LB

  • +1

I ordered through Telstra app, no new plan, no problems; too easy.

    • Oh were you able to avoid the problem everyone faced by ordering through app?

      • +1

Just tried, same problem because it opens a Web browser

      • Yes, no problems at all. It opened a "web browser" page from the Telstra app., "shop tab", but it worked easily and without problems.
