        • Did you already have a Telstra account?

    • thanks for the heads up, i've just ordered through telstra app without having to sign up to new plan cheers buddy

  • +1

Managed to order one outright. Such an unnecessary credit check for an outright purchase though. Hopefully it doesn't affect my credit score that much.

  • -2

For those thinking of profiting on an S21 256gb version, you'd be lucky to make close to $200 well with eBay considering they take 13% plus commission here selling new for $929 but great deal if your keeping one
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334108134602

Edit: Anyone know if we get Telstra reward points for purchase by chance has this showed up for anyone after purchase of S21?

    • +1

      Condition:
      Seller refurbished

      • Whoops your right anyway new ones are close to or slightly over $1000

Saying that just bought one :-)

  • Anyone know what the sales rep on live chat is talking about while trying to cancel my month to month plan?

"Yes, you need to keep the plan to keep getting the monthly discount from the 50% off."

"The Telstra Day S21 50% off outright purchase only applies to Business Accounts/Services. For Personal/Residential just like yourself - to be eligible for the 50% discount it needs to be in a contract as discount will be applied in a monthly basis instead of lumpsum."

"Only business customer can buy the device outright under 50% off
For personal/residential the 50% off discount will be applied to your monthly bill."

    • I'm sure i bought as personal and there was an option "tick box" for to state for business purchase

    • +2

They don't know what they are talking about.

  • Just spoke to a rep on chat - Advised me 10-14 days for back orders to be filled.
    Pretty stupid delay

    • +3

It's almost like there's a pandemic on and all sorts of industries are struggling with supplies, shipping, and so on….

  • +1

Ended up ordering s21 but I noticed , Telstra has the wrong service address and when I was checking out I entered in the correct address has any had faced that issue ? What Telstra send it to the address entered during checkout?

    • This should have updated the address in their system but better to check with them.

    • Yeah weird. Same happened to me. Address in Werribee VIC. Have never lived there before.

      • I’m reaching out to Telstra they have confirmed it’s being sent to the wrong address , best you contact them as well to have issue fixed.

        • I changed my address first in my account when I noticed this and then ordered. Was yours also to Werribee Vic?

  • +1

Purchased S21 without issues using an inactive telstra account. Didn't need to add a plan. Thanks, great deal!

  • +1

purchased one. no need for a plan. thanks op.

  • +1

I was able to order it without adding a plan. Lets see if they honour it.

    • How?

      • Don't click/highlight any plan options boxes, just change purchase to outright and scroll to bottom of page and click next to go to next page of purchase and that's it, enjoy 👍😁

        • +1

I did, but still get the "something went wrong" error. Did you already have plan with Telstra before this deal?

          • @polarq: I have 3x existing prepaid services with them so that may have done the trick.

            • @ABA: yeah that might be it.

            • @ABA: I think so. My ancient Telstra account with an obsolete phone number wouldn't work, but my wife's account with a current prepaid plan worked without issues.

  • Just bought a pink S21 128GB for my mum. Just click next without choosing a plan if you want to buy outright.

    Good luck to all.

  • Picked up the 256gb (only available in black/grey) s21.

    • Didn't see any option for black you don't mean Phantom grey?

  • +5

getting the same error as others.
get to identification stage and "something went wrong"
new customer. (had a previous ID, but never finished the sign up process)

also tried as a new account for my wife and got the same error

  • Can anyone confirm if this comes with Telstra branded firmware? I see conflicting comments.

    • Not an issue , you can always flash with XSA if it comes with TEL.

      • Xsa?

        • Australias unbranded firmware. Available from SamMobile.

          • @rifter: @rifter do you know of a tutorial/guide on how to flash it with XSA (if it does come with TEL firmware)? Thanks

  • +6

Damn couldn't get past my driver's license check and 3 attempts has locked me out.

  • +2

Thanks, OP. Got the Phantom Grey S21 128GB for $624. I had a service with Telstra that was closed about a year back. I did not need to add any plan, bought it outright and got the confirmation. Fingers crossed, I get the phone delivered.

    • +1

      Same with me +1

    • out of interest, why are you getting the 128gb version, considerign 256gb is "only" $48 more - yup i realise more is more, but for the double storage, it seems the $48 would be worth it, so wondering if there are other use case reasons for it? Genuinely curious about people's thoughts on the 128gb comparison. Thanks!

      • Would only do that if I was after a colour other than grey since there is no microsd card slot anymore.

      • +1

I got 128gb because the 256gb version is on back order and I need this as a gift asap. Storage isn't really much concern nowadays with Google photo, Amazon photo etc

      • +1

I dont really download, store files, nor take photos/videos on my phone. Currently only using up 32gb on my current phone. Although i plan to download some games, i doubt i'll ever need the extra 128gb. Basically, each person has different needs.

    • Same!

    • Same thing with me. I had a service from back ages ago, and I didn't need to add a plan

  • +1

So difficult to do business with Telstra these days. I just realised that Telstra won't let me use my residential address that includes my unit number. It displays automatically and get selected but won't be accepted. Looked for help to get it updated but after 10 minutes the bot can't do it. So asked for an "expert" and still waiting after another 10 minutes.

  • +7

Spent way too much time trying to get this to work. Thanks for wasting my time Telstra.

    • Same, error checking out.

    • I had same issu with driver license check keep failing, but when adding $55 plan it works and allows me to purchase.

Bought with the extra $55 which is amonth to month plan. Just dont forget to cancel before the next month.

  • +1

Thanks, its working for me this time. The first Telstra day order didn't go through properly, despite being charged. I guess probably that was ordered via mobile app? This time ordered via PC.

  • +1

Just purchased grey s21 356gb, no problems and fast check out.
No plan required, but needed to log into (unused) telstra account (currently with amaysim).

  • So does everybody's order show backorder? Ordered around 1am last night. 128gb phantom grey

    • Expected delivery date: 4 Sep.

    • bought one last night and one 30mins ago for the missus. both expected 4 Sep (Melb metro)

    • Bugger

    • Yes. Mine still shows back order. However i checked with telstra chat last night they said stock is already assigned and should be delivered in 3-5 business days

  • +3

Is anyone having issues with checking out?

    • +2

      Yes

  • +1

Yes. I had issues when checking out

  • +1

I just wasted 2 hours of my life trying to do this, relates on chat were useless. Couldn't get it. they need to put you on a plan, not outright.

    • Nah, just need a Telstra ID so you can log in and place the order (outright).

      • +3

Thanks matey but sadly Credit check. Didn't work online. Telstra then wouldn't do it when I chatted to them.

    • It's ridiculous 😒
      How dear they do this?

  • -3

    Hi OP

Any deals for Pixel 4a 5g? Cheers.

  • +1

just ordered this easy, had an old telstra account from ages ago, logged in bought outright grey 256GB, used passport as ID. BANG

    • with a plan? want the deal without the plan. I have an account but it's not working!

      • Mines without a plan and went fine this time.

        • Same here, got the S21 256Gb WITHOUT PLAN for $672

      • no plan, outright for $672

        • Yeah figured it out!

  • +1

    Useless - "something went wrong"
"Sorry we are unable to resolve the issue"
Not sure why I ever expected more…

    • (profanity)! Telstra should be banned!

  • i just purchased a 256GB outright with telstra account i use for boost auto recharges, no plan required
the something went wrong came up every time i tried to change the cc details so in the end i just purchased on wrong cc

  • Assuming everyone is getting on backorder now? Either that or no stock in SA and it's state based

  • Zero issues checking out here, though we're both on TLS until end of September from a previous giftcard deal. Picked up a new S21. Thanks OP!

  • worked fine with old telstra login, choose outright and ignore the plan option and just click next at the bottom.

    Its on backorder.

  • -2

Unobtainable if you don't have a drivers licence or Australian passport

  • +1

Keep failing before the last step when choosing a new credit card as payment. My default credit card is invalid so I had no option but to use a new credit card.

Down to the last option and that is to call Telstra after 9am. I think the phone queue would be over an hour.

  • Has anyone actually managed to register a Telstra ID today? Do you need a computer?

    • No need computer. But unless you are going to sign up for a plan as well, you can't buy it.

  • +5

It's a dud. Logged in ok with my TelstraID but when I try to pay for an S21 256gb phone I get
    "Something went wrong"
"Sorry we are unable to resolve the issue" like lots of other people.
Might have a look again next month, Telstra may have improved their crap website a bit by then, won't hold my breath though.

  • +3

"something went wrong" tried a few times and can't buy it :/

  • +1

Just bought 2, via seperate orders. Was a painless experience. I’m already a Telstra customer so maybe that helps? Thanks OP and good luck to the rest of you!

  • thanks !!

  • Telstra customer. Just bought outright on PC no problems with ID. Surprisingly painless for Telstra :/

  • +2

Couldn't get it working with new account so added $55 plan (will cancel after a month). Gets through the ID check only when a plan is added for new Telstra customers

  • This or poco f3 5G?

    • this isn't even a comparison. S21.

  • I haven't been a Telstra customer for over 8 years. Logged in with my old account (email ID) and placed 2 separate orders without any issues. One has tracking and the second one is on backorder though.

  • Delivery ETA September 4? Do Telstra's couriers actually deliver weekends? >_>

    • +1

They do. Last time I purchased, it was Toll.

      • Ffff, ordered it to my work, which is an hour away from home.

        • My Telstra orders are usually delivered by Startrack and shipping notification for this one says same.
ETA on my tracking now that it's been collected by Startrack showing 3 September instead of 4 September.
If they miss you I'm pretty sure it will be taken to the nearest PO.

          • @ironik: God I hope so, Toll are hopeless, half the time they don't even bother checking if you're home, just leave a card and then you have to go to their damn depo and pick it up, which i probably can't even do because it's more than 5km from me…

      • oh really ? CRAP Toll are utterly useless

  • +1

So if you made an account today you wont be ordering any time soon.
If you had an old account you're sweet.

I made my own with no luck, logged into my dads and went straight through.

    • +1

I have an existing account with 2 mobile services. Still can't get pass the ID process.

  • Just check the address on the order email. There is some random address that I never entered, nor do I know of.

  • Have telstra account for home internet. Still have same error as everyone.

    Something went wrong
We're unable to process your order at this time.

    Take me back to Telstra.com.au

  • +2

If you have an existing account then it seems to go thru (I have NBN with Telstra). Well at least I didn't have any issues. Just remember to purchase outright and not to select a plan (keep scrolling down and hit 'Next'). Keep driving license handy. Good luck!

  • Got through after a bit of trial and error. Had to create a telstra account. Got 256gb S21.

Didn't seem to get an estimate for delivery date though
