Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 (11.5" OLED, 6GB/128GB SD870, Widevine L1) $561.89 + $26.68 Postage = $588.57 @ Sunsky

2080

Hi fellow OzBargain peeps,

Hope you're all well. If not shoot me a pm, R U OK day might be over but you can still message me and I'll do my best to reply :)

Good price on this Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021. I've been watching it for a while and it's just dropped from $584.55 to $566.46 ($18.09 off) + $26.96 postage = $593.41 delivered. If your after a high end tablet for Christmas this is a great deal.

The next cheapest is Banggood for $622.32 delivered

The Lenovo XiaoXin Pad Pro 2021 Night Aurora is available for $1.37 more. $562.32 + 32.46 postage = $594.78 delivered.

Yes this tablet has Widevine L1, you'll be able to watch Netflix in HD. Also, it supports USB C to HDMI out.

This tablet has the Snapdragon 870. The 888 is currently the fastest SOC, but there are no tablets available with the 888, so this tablet is the fastest SOC you can get.

This would make a great tablet for gaming, especially for emulators. If I hadn't bought the 2020 version tablet from this deal I would've jumped on this and loaded it with a 512GB SD card for emulator gaming on the go out at friends.

A comparison between this one and last year's model.

    This is cheaper from AliExpress

$319 USD delivered, around $426 AUD using master card rate.

      this one is 2021 model

    • +1

Last year's model, but I like an OzBargainer that thinks critically and tries to find a better price. Have a up vote :)

  • +1

I wonder how many people don't realise Lenovo is a Chinese brand. Always get a "oh really" here and there.

    • +6

      cool story bro

    • +1

      More reason to buy.

  • Wish can get the 8GB RAM+ version. Emulators really need more RAM these days.

  • Omg tht gocashback is an utter horse sxxt site. Xxxxing worthless.

  • +3

Wtf a well priced tablet that actually has good specs

  • No five gees

  • OP, What do you like to emulate?

    • +2

      Mostly PS2 and PSP :)

      • +1

        What games?

Have you tried emulating DS or switch?
I'm a sucker for pokemon games haha.

        • PS2: Sitting Ducks, The incredibles, 007 nightfire, Madagascar, Crash Bandicoot the Wrath of Cortex, LEGO games, Star Wars battlefront.

PSP: LEGO games, avatar, star wars battlefront, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, Lord of the Rings Aragorns Quest.

I want to try out the Final Fantasy games. Uni holidays are coming up, so I'll have plenty of time!

I haven't tried emulating the DS and Switch, but I do want to try out the Switch emulator and play Zelda.
Have to admit I've never tried the Pokemon games. I used to watch the TV series. I really should try it the games.

What emulators do you regularly use, and what games do you play :)

          • +1

@Wystri Warrick: Havent had much time for games recently.

Mainly used ds emulator on the phone for some of the pokemon games.
I bought ports of some of the final fantasy games(back when I could use prepaid credit for app purchases). They are quite fun.

  • Tempted to buy. Any good covers go with it?

    • +1

I use this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002768229801.html its a really thin sleeve, no side protection. 100% attached using the built in magnets in the tablet, works great.

      • Thanks. So with Lenovo not doing much in terms of OS updates……how do you get OS updates? Does it need to be a specific update from them that suits this particular device? Or can you use a "generic" Android OS update that can work on this down the line? Trying to figure out if it's worth it down the track or not. Will mainly use for watching videos, maybe a little gaming or emulation if I can figure that out.

    • This is the only leather case that I know if

This or the samsung galaxy tab s7?

    • +6

What are you going to use the tablet for?

If I were getting a tablet for jotting things down onto PDFs as the main reason, I think Tab S7 is better. That said, I am biased as hell when it comes to stylus and writing notes, because I had more pleasant experience with Surface Pro 1, Tab S7 than Surface Pro 3 (and iPad I supposed, though it was just jotting things down in Apple store with Apple Pencil 1st Gen).

Lenovo P11 Pro, the latency shown here doesn't really give me confidence
Comparison between Tab S7 and iPad Air 2020, you can kinda see what I'd prefer with both tablet's latency

These probably are more noticible to me because I mainly use my tablet for notetaking.

Someone linked reviews above which has lot more information about the device than what I've linked.

      • +1

Man its so expensive though… I cry. $600 Lenovo vs S7 tab $800+

I'm betting the pen is a bit more as well. I just want a good android tablet, sadlife.

        • +2

S pen comes with the tablet. I think you have to get Lenovo's one separately though.

          • +1

@iridiumstem: Oh shiit… this lowkey changes things. Dammit now the choice is hard. Haha. Do I want OLED or LCD but known brand

            Thanks :)

I just forgot Samsung also has DeX. underrated feature.

            • +2

@HeyHeyHeyIsItADeal: One thing I will add is, 256GB model has 8GB RAM on Tab S7. It's bloody awful that they've done that, but that 2 extra GB might mean day and night difference in the future.

      • +1

        Kids gaming
Free full versions on android instead pay money on apple ipad.. and also they like toxdraw n coloring

        • +2

I think what I've mentioned make little difference in that case?

Updates might be slightly more iffy though, but I doubt it'd matter too much if the kids are playing the childrens' game.
I am sure you can get something cheaper as well, though Chinese tablets would be something that others would know more about.

I'd probably get some protective casing or something just in case they drop things onto it or drop the tablet.

          That's just me though.

If they are older, and specifically game on their tablet and play something that's taxing, I'd probably look at iPad. Optimisations on iPad would likely be much better.

        • +1

If the kids are young there'll definitely be accidents, so IMO just get them a cheaper Chinese tablet. When the kids get older 12+ then get them something more expensive.

Clear has recently posted some tablet deals that are about $250. Just browse through his post history and you'll find the details. alternatively you could just ask him for his recommendation.

          • @Wystri Warrick: Yeh they have ipad
But keep asking for in app purchase in games
So decided to get an android most games come unlock full already 😁🤭

  • +1

What is Widevine L1? I have never used this before.

    • +3

Its a DRM certificate found on premium devices to allow higher resolution streaming on certian apps, netflix needs it for 1080p.

      • +1

Wait so if you download the movie and play it on this tablet via micro SD card itll play fine? :O

I heard if you update the tablet you lose L1 though no? :O

        • +1

downloaded files can run perfectly on any tablet, you dont need L1 for that.

        • +1

I think someone mentioned losing Widevine L1 via update on this thread?? You'll still be able to play HD+ video files from the on board storage and SD card even if say the tablet were to lose Widevine L1 via a future update

    • It's basically a must have if you watch premium streaming services, Netflix, Amazon, etc. They'll just give you 480p SD otherwise… In which case, why buy a super high read 120hz tablet if it can only stream in 480p.

      • +1

What does the refresh rate have to do with the resolution? I doubt any streaming services even have content above 60fps anyway

  • +1

This or the iPad with long term OS support? iPad is the only Apple device I find worthy of its money.

    • +1

iPad if you can stand their OS imo.

      • +1

I thought the OS on iPad was more open now compared to the iPhones? unless I am wrong…?

        • +2

It's been a long while since I used iPadOS (back when Files app and mouse support wasn't a thing so aeons ago) and my memory isn't that great, so take this with pinch of salt.

I felt like it wanted me to do things how Apple thought up of doing. If I wanted to say, open a PDF file, it wanted to do things on cloud. Files app came out so I don't know how that would work now though.

This isn't to say that how Apple wanted me to do things in wasn't polished, but that wasn't what I wanted to do.

I think with DeX and such, you can basically use the tablet like a laptop for example. Yes, it's unpolished in a lot of areas, but I think I prefer that over not being even allowed to try.

          • +1

@iridiumstem: I agree with all of what you said. DeX was and still is such an underrated feature that I didn't know I needed until I used it. Even on my phone.

            • +1

@HeyHeyHeyIsItADeal: The thing with Dex on tablets is that it basically give you an interface simliar to a laptop (i.e. you can open up multiple apps in smaller windows). Some apps act terribly with it (i.e. AliExpress app), but most of them are alright.

As someone who has tried to use it like a laptop, there are irks with Android OS and apps sometimes. It doesn't feel polished. I feel like Google should be doing more about their OS for tablets.

  • +3

was thinking of getting this or ipad mini 6

    went with apple instead

    why?

resale value - this thing will be worthless in a few years

lack of future updates - guaranteed updates with apple for years to come

android eco system vs apple eco system for tablets ( apple wins )

    my 2cents

    • Understandable. On the other hand I'm thinking to sell my ipad air 3 and getting this. The ipad OS just kind of falls short. For example it's like a 27 step process just to load some movies onto the device, let alone doing any games emulation. The lenovo 'PC mode' looks also looks cool in combination with keyboard and mouse support.

      • Everyone has different needs when it come to choosing tech so each to their own.

Was drooling over the new Lenovo P12 pro but ended up choosing the main stream option as mentioned above.

Had too many worries choosing an android tablet after hours of research ( never owned an android tablet before ).

    • +1

I've been leaning that way but one of my favorite uses for a tablet is to relax and read manga/comics etc. ios seems to have had plenty of great apps but searching before making the jump on a mini or air showed that many are gone, especially the ones with manhua and other fan translations that will never get official releases. Android has the problem too but some apps offer sideloading and some manage to walk the fine line by having copyright free content but allowing people to add other sources etc.

Google need to make a proper tablet os. maybe chrome based with apk support or maybe something completely different. It's going to be hard to get enough market share for the more processional tablet apps to bother with android. It just doesn't seem to be a priority.

  • +1

I’ve got to try this tablet.

    • Do you have any problems with it. Watching 480p streams because and update broke Widevine L1 concerns me a little.

Other than that is it comfortable to hold for prolonged reading? Does the Oled screen add much to the package?

In terms of price and specs it seems great but these little issues rarely get fixed with lenovo I've found. Hell Im using a lenovo laptop and it still has the same 45w power draw as last years model (even in sleep) due to some issue with corairs desktop rgb software they use.

i guess it all comes down to use case.

    It's even cheaper from Giztop.com

    https://www.giztop.com/lenovo-xiaoxin-pad-pro-2021.html

    Standard price $429.00 USD
    Shipping (DHL) $29.95 USD

But you can apply coupon code:

    Coupon code: PADPRO30, $30 off
    Expiry date: October 30

With the $30 off, total price including shipping comes to $428.99 USD which is $574.67 AUD.

I've ordered phones and tablets from Giztop before and they are fine, quick processing and good communication.

    • +2

Giztop are legitimate. When I was working with GizmoChina they were pretty much starting up Giztop ;)

    • +2

      Thanks! Just bought one

    • +1

With the coupon applied it comes to $588.51 for me. Either way though it's cheaper than the deal I posted, so IMO you should post it as a deal so you get the credit, I'd up vote it!

      • +3

Make sure to pay in USD in Paypal, and then use one of the popular Ozbargain credit cards with no currency fees etc. Bankwest, 28 degrees etc

      • +2

He said he will cancel his order on the old model and if approved he will jump on this model.

        • +1

Yes he did. Sorry lack of sleep makes me brain dead …

      • +1

Yes I intend to cancel the old model for the 2021 model.

  • +2

how would this compare to the latest xiomi pad ?

  • +1

Good to see some deals coming from Sunsky. One of the best place to buy phone cases.

  • Can you get a third party keyboard and stylus pen cheaper elsewhere?

  • Any recommendations for case here?

      See above comment

  • Only if there was a hack to run FaceTime on Android, this could replace my old iPad.

  • Wow great price. Kind of feels like I severely over paid for my S7+

  • -1

wait, i cant find any specs saying this actually has some form of GPS despite OP saying it and the previous model do have it. Can anyone confirm it has some form of GPS? Planning on using it in a truck.

EDIT: yep, definitely doesn't have any kind of GPS. What a joke for a top of the line Android tablet in 2021. Had to cancel my order.

  • +1

Wow almost 200 votes. I almost feel like I’m missing out if I don’t get it

  • Re the complaints about how the software won't get updates - isn't there an alternative OS (Android OS) to install and receive updates from the community?

That lack of updates successfully deter me, and Samsung's devices with some updates cost closer to Apple's, which are getting updates for years to come.

  • Want to use this for documentation markups but can't find anything like PDF-XCHANGE editor or Blubeam. Anyone have any tips for a pro pdf editing suite on Android?

    • Is something like Noteshelf something you are looking for?

Not sure whether it would work to like how you want it to work though.

      • Cheers, similar to Squid notes. Looking for an Android package similar to both of those windows apps. Doesnt seem to exist. Closest I can get is OneNote

        • +1

Hmmm, I tried Noteshelf app to see whether I can open the file from PC… It looks like it does save files onto Dropbox (in a .nsa file format), but I don't think there are apps on Windows side to open it. Maybe Evernote?

I kinda use Samsung Note for basic PDF annotations and sync between PC and my tablet, but I doubt you'd be able to use that on this tablet.

  • Anyone having troubles downloading netflix through the google playstore?

    • Yes, no luck here either, Amazon Prime installed okay though.

    • Not sure what's going on. I'll look into it. Maybe try sideloading Netflix?

I've got the 2020 model (just arrived a few days ago.) the Netflix app came pre installed. When I open the Netflix app it says "Please update to the latest version of the app to proceed", however when I tap "ok" I'm taken to the Google Play Netflix page and there's a message saying "This app is no longer compatible with your device. Contact the developers for more info."

    • +1

Is there a specific error message your getting?

      • I ended up factory resetting the device, adding Google Play from the green chinese app store then, after some android stuff updated, I downloaded Chrome, Netflix, Prime all from Google Play with no probs. Not sure what they did to the device before sending it that made it incompatible.

  • I received this tablet and it is not playing Netflix in HD. DRM shows Widevine as L3 not L1. Tablet came with bootloader unlocked which I suspect is the problem. How do I fix to get Netflix HD?

  • Hi, I finally got my hands on this tab. As previously mentioned by some, with the ROM that's shipped with the tablet, when opening playstore, there's no Netflix install. I hence installed F-droid and Aurora Store and loaded Netflix through that. It works fine, aside from the fact that it is in HD and not in FHD. The Playback Specification is as follows:

    Digital rights management
    Widevine: L1
    Version: 16.0.0
    System ID: 21xxx

    Playback
    Maximum playback resolution:
    Full HD

    Supported hardware codecs:
    VP9 (secure)
    AVC-High (secure)

    HDR capabilities:
    none

Even though playback says Full HD, any of the videos I clicked on says HD

Is there a fix for this?
