ASUS TUF-AX3000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router $217.55 Shipped @ Computer Alliance eBay

140
PLUSDEC5

I believe it's the lowest price ever. Or use PLBFSS for $219 and combine this with the 10% cashback later today to get about $19.91 back.

Alternatively, get from their Amazon page or from Amazon Prime for $229 and get $40 back if you have the Amex offer.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2021

  • Is this a better option than the RT-AC86U which was $199 at amazon last friday?

    • Yes, the AX series are the newer WiFi 6 ready routers, so it's definitely worth it for future proofing. AC86U came out in 2017.

      • +1

But not worth upgrading if you already have the AC86U imo.

        • +1

Yeah i bought it last friday, and just set it up. Can't get an exchange now. Didn't realise it was from 2017, but will probably just leave it.

    • +4

Ac86u actually has better chipset and supports 5ghz 4x4. If u don't have devices utilize wifi 6. Ac86u might outperform this one…

  • seems there is alot of tech savy people. Quick question if i may, what is a good router that supports HFC NBN and also has a 4g sim slot capability to switch to using a 4g sim card if we churn between nbn plans and 4g mobile plans

  • Is the AX5400 a better buy at $100 more?

  • Does this model support WiFi 6E? I don't think so but just checking

    • I don't think any models currently available in Aus have wifi 6e, as it hasn't actually been approved here yet? I could be wrong, last I saw it was still in consultation phase or some nonsense? With basically a bunch of manufacturers saying 'Yes please give us all the bandwidth, don't cripple it down to 500MHz, we need all of it to make wifi 6e a viable and exciting proposition now and into the future'.

      • Wi-Fi 6E is still pending approval.

    • TUF-AX3000 = Wi-Fi 6.

  • Any ideas if Amazon is going to price beat? I don't have the AMEX offer :(

    • Their price is only $3.96 higher actually

      • It is? $217.55 vs $229 ain't it

        • That's after coupon code. Actually CA's price on Amazon is the same $229, but Amazon AU's price is a bit higher

  • PLBFSS not working?

    • Not working for me either. Does this mean we can get 16% cashback?

  • Does this qualify for the 16% cashback?

    • It should, as long as you dont enter any coupons

      • I didn't get the pop up from Cashback saying it was successful.. should I cancel?

        edit: I cancelled

        • just got my $20 tracking confirmation email

  • can someone confirm how to bring this down below 229?

Just buy from ebay without using any coupon and we get 16% off automatically from shopback?

Are we supppose to get an instant notification from shopback for the 16% ?

    • The Shopback cashback is capped at $20.

      • how can we confirm we are getting the $20 cashback ?
It is ok if it brings down the price down to $209 after cashback from shopback.

I believe the cheapest option (if you have eBay Plus) is:

    Sydneytec ebay @ $254.19 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/293618730493
Apply code APBF25, reduces to $190.64
Use the 10% Shopback offer to take off $19, reduces to $171.64

Even if you don't like to use Afterpay, can use code PLBF20 instead. Reduces from $254.19 to $203.26. Use the 10% Shopback offer to take of $20 (offer is capped), reduces to $183.26.

    • Yep that's a new listing and a bit cheaper, good deal

  • Might have to pull the trigger on this router after realising that my turd netcomm's 2.4ghz is completely dead. Most of my devices are ok on 5ghz but I have a wireless printer that doesn't support 5ghz and it's annoying not being able to print!

    • It's still available on ebay with PLUSDEC5, but without cashback.

      • I'll probably just Amazon it and use 3% off gift cards better than nottin'!

        • Or get this one, it's cheaper.

        • PLBF20 is still working also. Works for the Sydneytec listing. Makes it $203.35.

          • @tbone74: Not an ebay plus member unfortunately.

            • @Ingram: Pay $5 for a one month membership?

    Received mine.
Shopback showing $20 available by Jan29

Not much difference in terms of download/upload speed compared to Tplink archer 1600 (usually provided by ISP)

The noticeable improvement was the wifi range signal is good even across walls, inside bedroom and up to the garage which is not possible with the TPlink archer 1600

UI on web and mobile app is a lot better and easy to use.

I still need to play around with the AiProtection and how the game boost work or if I can use it to optimised and prioritize specific laptop/desktop use for work

  • I just got this router and have iiNet FTTB.
Any special settings I need to enable/disable?
The ASUS’s WAN port is connected to a LAN port on the TP-Link modem from iiNet…

    • +1

Should be fine, but would be better if you switch the wireless off on the modem to prevent interference. Even better if you setup the modem in bridge mode so everything is controlled by the Asus router.

      • Thanks, I’ll have a look into that, especially bridge mode!

        • Great, with bridge mode the Asus router will control the modem completely so only the hardware portion (modem) is used. The latency should drop by a few ms. Make sure you take note of the modem login information to your provider before setting it in bridge mode.
