        Which internet provider is that?

        • Future broadband

    • +2

Or 119 @ super loop for 6 months

    • I pay 158 bucks I get a 250/100mbps FTTP connection.

110 for 25mbps upload speeds to me is a joke.

  • -8

Pay $99 with mate for the same speed

    • +14

Future Broadband provides static IP and is on a business grade network.
      Different market than Mate

      • "Business grade network" eh? What do they promise this gets me over residential?

Im with Tangerine; static iP and 54/22Mbps on a 50/20Mbps plan.

Clearly much slower; but thats (more than) what im paying for.

        • +2

I am HFC with Aussie broadband, 149p/m and my actual download speed is 960mpbs, peak still over 900.

        • You aren't getting more that you are paying for, it is how NBN services are provided.

NBN provides slightly more bandwidth to allow for overheads so that it is possible to achieve the plan speed.

          • -1

@spaceflight: Im aware. Its my job.

            Let me rephrase;
Im getting more than what their marketing team sold me.

Many ISPs over-sell, so they have lower peak speeds, not higher, than their marketing team use to advertise said plan; then put lower peak speeds in fine print.

        • "Business grade network" eh? What do they promise this gets me over residential?

They obviously can't do much between your place & the POI, but I suspect it's just that they designed their network with better redundancy & capacity.

        At 25 upload? Completely joking…

      • -1

bahahahah business grade sure as long as you not on there HOME USER plans… they are. yet they don't offer a 100/100 mbps connection min or even a 1gb/1gb connection or any kind of decent upload speeds for home users, most people here aren't going to buy a business plan just to get a good connection.

    • +2

I still owe OneTel $50 from their Big Kahuna plan

      • I still owe them $29.95 from the 56k dialup plan lol

  • I consistently get double the speed of the tier I pay for, I assume because Future isn't so well known where I live. These guys have been awesome to deal with & I'm sticking with them when we move shortly.

    • +9

I very much doubt this. If this is the case (which a doubt) I’m guessing something was provisioned wrong and your probably connected at a higher speed but only billed at the lower tier.

What tier do you pay for, what speed are you actually getting? Is upload also “doubled”?

      • +2

Its really common to get 25Mbps on a 12Mb plan.

And on some providers, to get 50Mb on a 25Mb plan, but thats usually where it stops.

Its been a while since i had wholesale contracts in front of me, but its something ive been involved with; lots of contracts will agree to provide X number of 25mbps connections. (Or 50, or 100, depends on what you sell; business grade wholesale can be odd as heck).

So, the retailer will often just connect you to their cheapest plan, but provide no assurances that you're going to get faster than what you pay for.

      • +1

Doubt all you want, I don't care what causes it…I pay for 50/20, get 103-109 down, high 30s upload. Not complaining either way.

  • That's for 600gb?

    • +1

      Nah it's unlimited.

$110pm for NBN 250M/25M Flatrate/Unlimited for as long as you remain connected to Future Broadband 250/25M

Mmm static IP and pretty well business-grade 250/25 internet for $110. Great deal.

    • +1

      business-grade

What do you think 'business grade' means?

  • +1

    are they good internet provider?

    • +1

Yes, they are excellent. Perth based support team.

      • -4

        Hard pass then

        • +13

          Weird flex, but whatever.

        • +1

          The hell?

    • +1

I have been with them a few years now and the connection is super stable. Speeds are constant. The main difference between business grade and residential is really capacity. Peak time for a business network is during the day whilst at night there is heaps of bandwidth to spare. Great price when you consider you get a routed static IP included. For a small ISP they are really pulling way above their weight.

  • Only have FTTC, can I pay for setting up FTTP?

    • Yes. Get a quote from NBN. https://www.nbnco.com.au/learn/technology-choice-program/onl…

It don't whinge that it’s a few grand.

People without FTTC are looking at anywhere between $10-100 grand.

      • Thanks for the link.
Wonder if the price would drop in the future?
Maybe when 5G becomes more popular?

        • There are reports that nbn tech choice has gone up in costs. Wait until next year to get nbn FTTP by going through ISPs.

      • Notice i can now get NBN enterprise.
        This is fibre to premiss?
        https://www.superloop.com/landing/enterprise-ethernet/
        $550 for 250/250. That $6k per year!!
In the long run, this works out to be more expensive than paying $10k initial setup. Unless you need 250 up?

        • nbn enterprise is FTTP. It is really designed for businesses hence the high monthly cost.

      • Yep. Higher cost, now $ 17,132 inc. GST for my HFC to FTTP upgrade, not going to happen.

    • +4

Yep, I paid 10 grand back in the day to get HFC run to my parents place.

Was my life savings as a young teen.

      Was totally worth it.

  • +1

I'm on 1000/50 from TPG under their special 6 month plan $116 i think. last month I did 24TB.

    • +10

dang son that's a lot of 'Linux iso's'…..

    • Lol i thought i was bad doing 6tb on 25mbps

(it was legit.. My steam library.. And the pc is on 24/7 anyway)

    • +1

I've been on 1000/50 since day 1 of availability and 8TB is the most I've achieved, and that was replacing data lost in a hardware failure, but 3TB is my monthly average with normal use. 24TB is insane. Kudos.

  • +8

It's a good deal EXCEPT for the 25 upload.

    I am on 100/40….

    • -2

Depends on what you are going to be doing to have a higher upload speed. Zoom meetings and one drive uploads are just fine at 25 upload.

      • I get you but when we had home learning plus simultaneous meeting, it seemed really matter.

In either case, my only path is 1000/50 and I am currently paying $77 for 100/40. It really is a good deal. I wanna move but I also know I will never get that 40 upload again.

        • +3

          $77 for 100/40?
          What plan are you on?

          • +1

            @congo: Vodafone NBN.

They don't sell this anymore. It's a legacy product. That's why I really need to think not twice but thrice before moving out.

  • Thanks, ordered. No indication if the 50 order limit has expired, so hopefully it's ok.

    • +1

Same here. It's a bit cheaper than ABB for me and looks like a better deal overall- so long as the deal actually applies!

  • +3

It says first 50 orders only from 1st Dec, probably it is already expired. I tried to order but at the last step couldn't see any info about the discount applied.

    • From this post, it's still available as of yesterday: https://whrl.pl/RgmVFe

I emailed them to confirm, will cancel if it's not still valid.

      • +1

Placed an order. It's kinda stupid that no verification on this deal working on submitting request.

    • With some of their specials, you will get charged the full fee at sign up and the discount is then applied, backdated etc on the first invoice. All following invoices show a credit for the discount amount after that.

  • +1

So these guys are just TPG with a slightly less contended CVC pool right?

    • Most new connections are a TPG IP with TPG routers and routing but in their business CVC pool. A couple of years ago people were getting AAPT IP address which landed on AAPT routers and routing which I felt performed just a little more efficiently. That was discontinued last year. However I had a friend recently who signed up and scored on of these but I think it was a glitch in the matrix because everyone just gets TPG now.

    • Correct that's all it is

  • I’m paying $130 with ABB.
How are their speeds in comparison?

I don’t even know what static IP is, so assume I don’t need it…

    • +8

I don’t even know what static IP is, so assume I don’t need it…

If you don't know what it is then you definitely don't need it…

    • +9

      Name checks out

    • Static means your internet IP address is always the same. this makes it easier to remote home into your computer for various reasons without needing to find an address every time it changes.

  • I understand you said its a different service than Mate and how is that? In QLD I find on Vocus it is solid, reliable and always constant 250/25 @ $89 per month with the static IP as well. Would there be a similar deal for 1000 plans on fttp connections????

    • Very little difference to the plan you are on. Mate via Vocus do 'control' some multi threaded downloading and routing during peak time. Future do not. Also the static IP on Future is routed but again, the advantage is extremely minor. When you get a good performing ISP and plan then really the differences are only at the extremes.

  • I'm paying 85 for 250/25 from TPG. (Took over ownership this place was always TPG (

Yeah yeah TPG but I can't fault their service. Been getting full speed all day including peak. Never had any issues for a decade.

I was going to pay 99 for TPG 1000/50 permanently but unfortunately I'm not eligible anymore as this premise is HFC instead of FTTP.

Previously also had an 1000/50 connection from superloop for 6 months, they're good too but had to cancel them due to moving out.

    • +2

I'd be so keen for TPG 1000/50 for $99. Wonder if we will see a deal like that again soon.

    • +1

HFC is capable of Gigabit. nbn still need to do Gigabit upgrades at a couple of HFC locations. Have you checked here?

      • Just checked heres the results

        NBN Speeds Available: NBN 1000/50M, 250/25M, 100/40M, 50/20M, 25/10M and 12/1M
        NBN Speeds Available: NBN 250/25M, 100/40M, 50/20M, 25/10M and 12/1M

Top one says gigabit but then it has another straight after without gigabit.

So it's very confusing as I'm not sure which one is correct, as they can't be both correct.

        • +1

The top one is a TC4 residential plan. The bottom one is a TC2 business plan. You can get Gigabit now if you want.

      • Have you checked here?

What a wacky webpage. In the drop down list for 'Street type' it's not even in alphabetical order… Reach, Road, Ridge, Reserve etc. Amateur hour stuff…
