  • Is ozito battery compatible with aldi tool?

    • No, but bunnings matches with ozito equivalent so good time to enter ozito system

      • -5

Just realised the Aldi one on special is 20V but the ozito is only 18V.

        • +1

Hi. Kfcfatfat . I think it's true that in the industry 20v is 18v. For some reason they round out the 18v to 20v, 36v to 40v, 54v to 60v. Same same.

        • +3

20V and 18V lipo packs are same thing.
Just a bunch of lipo cells in 5S configuration.
It may potentially have cells with higher nominal/full voltage, but functionally the tools that'll accept "18V" will also accept "20V"

20V just looks better for marketing purposes..

As for compatibility, if the ALDI tools only have two pins for battery (positive/negative), you should be able to 3D print and wire up an adapter for it.
Just note that adapters may throw the weight of your tool and may also have trouble delivering the current needed for higher current tools.

Edit: A quick search shows some adapters do exist xfinity->ozito but not sure about other way.

          • @wwwsam: You've asked for too much. I must say in most of the the battery packs are actually Li-Ion 18650s.

            • +3

              @[Deactivated]: Some have 21700.

              • @Richardc: Was just about to say this.

The "High Drain" variants of most brands generally use larger cells.
The rest are yes, mostly 18650.

For Ozito its generally the red tops or ones with "Ultra" on the side.
You'll notice the pack itself is also a bit wider to accomodate these larger cells.

              • @Richardc: Any theory on how to find out?

          • @wwwsam: Also search for einhell as the Ozito PXC tools and batteries bunnings sell here are rebadged Einhell (which have a good reputation and following in EU)

          • @wwwsam: So it ozito a better system to get on compare to the Aldi?

            • @kfcfatfat: Depends on what you want out of it.

I haven't looked into the ALDI ones too much because I already have some Ozito tools.

I believe the ALDI tools are generally cheaper, but with a caveat that they are only around a few times a year (Bunnings will usually also begrudgingly price match).
The Ozito tools are around year round at any Bunnings and I think they have a larger range (and better support).

In terms of quality I believe they are roughly similar.
Keep in mind though these are (very capable) budget home enthusiast tools, and you should look a bit higher up if you are looking to do more heavy duty work.

So I guess if all you need is a one off Drill or something or you not fussed about waiting then ALDI isn't a bad option, but if you know you'll be adding more pieces then Ozito might be a better option.

        • +2

If you check the voltage of your car when it's fully charged, depending on the type of battery will be around 13 to 13.2v… Then why is it a 12v battery?!? Same reason ozito is 18v and also is 20v. Same reason DeWalt is 20v in USA and 18v in Aus… Number looks bigger so better marketing. Both are accurate for all the 18v too ranges

          • +1

@AndyRoo: So why don’t they market vehicle batteries as 13 volt.
Has to be better than 12 volt right 😀😉😂

        • +6

They are marketing the voltage as 20V, the batteries are made up of 5 * 3.6V cells (5S pack). So its an 18V pack not a 20V pack.

When fully charged the cells are 4.2V ea or 21V in a 5S configuration, the output is typically 3.6V per cell or 18V for the pack.

DeWalt started this in the USA to differentiate their new line that wasn't backwards compatible, they marketed it as 20V.

I have an RC addiction, I mean hobby, so I have some experience with lithium battery packs.

I have an RC addiction, I mean hobby, so I have some experience with lithium battery packs.

            you mean disease

        • I used to think this as well. But an Ozito charger wont fully charge an Aldi battery. Ozito tops out at 20V, Aldi's is around 24V.

Thinking the Aldi might use a slightly different chemistry.

That being said, the difference is bugger all and both tools will happily run off either battery.

But again, the Aldi charger will charge either, the Ozito will only fully charge the ozito.

    All Bunnings?

      What's with the math riddle?
      Are we solving for "?"

  • +5

Gonna be my first purchase of the year

  • +5

What kind of font is THAT?? $AB

  • +3

If you are lucky enough you may still find a 2x4ah + chargers pack for $99 like this deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642518

    • Can hardly find stock - if you're in outskirt, you may be lucky but i dont see anywhere in stock

  • +3

I believe this is the normal price for the black batteries.

    • What's the difference between the black and red?

      • +1

Nothing other than the colour AFAIK

  • +1

Sorry if this is a stupid question, does it include a charger? Could I buy a skin only product or do I still need to get a kit and this? Thanks

    • +3

No charger. This is for the battery, only.

      • Thank you

    • If you get a kit you don't need this but most kits only have one battery so may as well get a spare while it's discounted.

  • Anyone know if these work with robo skins and chargers?

    • Hah, autocorrect, should say "ryobi"

      • +1

Not without an adaptor. They are available on Gumtree.

Only charge using their own charger though.

  • None at Bunnings Kingsgrove, NSW.

  • Is this nationwide? Any one managed to find it in Melbourne?

    • Should be nationwide given the premise of the sale (Aldi).

This pic is from Altona. Maybe they jumped the gun putting them out lol. Not that I need to buy any.

    • Seen in Thomastown and Broadmeadows today.

  • +5

does anyone have a 3D print plans for Aldi <> Ozito adapters both ways?

These (profanity) cant agree on a ratified battery standard that will pain from the consumer. Imagine if each car manufacturer had their own battery standards , preventing you buying batteries other than their own?

Agree on one smart battery technology and form factor ffs. Sell your own chargers if you want to make more money.

  • -2

    thanks, bought 20

  • Does anyone have the I/N number for this particular model?

  • Just tried the Bunnings Warragul Vic store, and they wouldn't price match.Still showing $69.00

    • Just tried all the Bunnings, no go.

    • Look at the previous deals. They are different item numbers to the regular priced batteries.

  • Must be store specific unfortunately.

  • Any way to find out where has them? The guy at Woodville SA seemed annoyed when I asked and said no they don't have any.

  • Any idea if there is a Ozito -> DeWalt converter? Or DeWalt -> Ozito? Wouldn't mind sharing between the 2 eco systems..

    I couldn't find one.

    • Depending which DeWalt tool, they use some propietary pins so unless someone is bothered to reverse engineer them and build an adapter around it, theres not really any way to get it to work.

      • Dang. Was hoping for the XR range. Not the FlexVolt, that one is a stupidly heavy battery.

  • Rang Tuggerah. Guy told me they had none.

  • +1

    Item number 0169989

You can look up where it's in stock in the powerpass app

    • Thanks for the info!

Any chance we have an ozbargain powerpass member number we could use?

      Thanks

    https://ozito.com.au/products/pxc-36v-brushless-4-in-1-multi…

I picked up this one for $279 at bunnings Wangara WA yesterday.

This kit includes 2 x 18V 4.0Ah Li-Ion batteries that provide cordless convenience, while two chargers allow you to charge simultaneously. You always know when the batteries are ready to use with the onboard LED state of charge indicators.

Line Trimmer – Ideal for trimming and clearing grass from around trees, shrubs, borders and lawn edges.
Brush Cutter – 3-tooth brush cutter blade is perfect for clearing long grass, tough weeds, shrubs and thick undergrowth with ease.
Pole Pruner – With a high-quality Oregon® bar and chain is great for cutting branches and tall tree limbs without the hassle of climbing ladders.
Pole Hedge Trimmer – For trimming tall hedges or wide bushes in hard to reach places.

    • Anyone seen this product in Victoria? I'm keen for one of these but not listed on bunnings.com.au website. They come out late last year but I wasn't looking for one then….. now I am :)

  • Any deals on battery and charger? Or a kit?

  • Any other Ozito deals to match Aldi, or is it too early yet?

  • I’m wondering why bunning is not matching/reducing some of the RYOBI batteries to match the ALDI price?
If they are not be able to match the price, they can reduce the price.

    • +1

because they dont need to. They are only providing a cheaper alternative to the Aldi deal. Ozito are their 'home brand', so likely they make a bigger profit margin compared to the Ryobi models. People will buy Ryobi regardless due to the percieved better brand, my experience is Ozito PXC (einhell) have been rock solid for home DIY

  • +1

None at Bunnings Kirawee. The 4Ah one they had there scanned at $69

  • I had this battery for over 6months as previous deal. Been great works the same as the red ones. Snag one if you can. Good deal.

  • None at Bunnings Broadmeadows. The 4Ah one they had there scanned at $69

  • None at Bunnings Rouse Hill, scanned normal price.

  • None at Bunnings Blacktown

  • Tried a few local Bunnings in NW Sydney yesterday and most didn't even have the red box at full price let alone the black ones.

  • Yep our local bunnings has no stock of batteries at all let alone these great priced units

Just had my first Ozito battery die on me, unsure on the age but it was in the several years range, colour had faded etc, cant complain about that

    • they have a three year warranty, so if you still have the receipt you could potentially get a replacement

  • Oh i thought they'd only have a year, its probably over 3 years but ill go and see if i can dig up what kit the battery might have come in. It was only a 2AH job anyway i think, not unhappy with its effort if its died close to 3 years

  • Thanks OP I just bought my dad the cultivator tiller and needed a second battery for him!

  • If you're in WA, halls head Bunnings have a whole rack of these (~50?), labelled as $48 and scan through as that. Just picked one up

  • +1

Fellow Ozbargainers, just managed to get one from Northmead (NSW) store. They had a box full when I was there.

    • Your a legend mate, just got 2 for myself

      • Congratz! :)

  • Picked up two at Bunnings Rouse Hill this afternoon. Still $48 and they had about half a dozen left.

  • Just picked up one at Bunnings Belconnen for $48. Was there on Friday evening, and the guy said "It shows stock, but probably at the depot at the back needing to be unloaded." and the computer showed that it was going to scan for $69. Went there today, they had a single one in their cabinet, it scanned for $48.
I didn't see any special display with them in.
The cashier also indicated that the one I took may have been the last one.

  • +1

Just went to Bunnings Forster and asked the guy behind the register in the tools section and he knew what ones right away when I asked for the black ones. He said they had sold out of the last few, but I asked him to check for I/N 0169989. He kindly looked it up for me and was surprised to see 10 in the system and asked me to see another guy restocking shelves, who found a box of 10 hidden away!

I bought four for my dual battery lawn mower, so there's six left now back in the cabinet in Forster if anyone is in that area!
