    I buy Dell these days for our business after going Kogan for a long time – so much better. A 27" model guide, for those playing at home:
    S2721QS – no USBC but great colour, especially for the price. Great for creatives.
    S2722QC – UHD and USBC with 65w PD
    S2722DC – QHD and USBC with 65w PD
    P2722HE – FHD and USBC with 65w PD, eye strain reduction tech

        Agree. QHD is actually better than UHD in some cases too – especially on Macs where you want to avoid the overhead of scaling.

            @sakanasama: They do, but if you're someone who struggles reading text at that resolution and so turn on scaling, you'll have a CPU overhead to deal with.

          Could not disagree more.

          The Mac has had High DPI Retina displays for a decade and the OS pretty much expects it at this point, eg. Sub-pixel antialiasing was completely removed many years ago, and there’s no way to adjust the scale factor on standard displays — unlike Windows which allows you to set scale factors like 100%, 125%, 150% etc at any resolution, MacOS outright requires a High DPI display to enable this.

          On a low DPI display, such as a 27” QHD 2560x1440, you are locked into a 100% scale factor. The only way to make things bigger is to drop the resolution and make things extremely blurry, you can’t size things any smaller, and MacOS’s font rendering is severely ugly on such a display.

          On a high DPI display, such as a 27” UHD 3840x2160 display, you have a number of choices including pixel perfect 4K outputs at at 100% or 200%, as well as the ability for other scale factors eg “looks like 1440p”, that essentially renders a higher-than-native frame buffer at 5120x2880 and then downsamples to 3840x2160. Not as good as 2x Retina 5K display, but an order of magnitude better quality than a 1440p display. It’s also effectively a free operation as far as the GPU has concerned (beyond the tax of rendering at 2x prior to downscale) and again, something that the GPUs have been handling for a decade.

          In fact I would argue the exact opposite — our office is almost exclusively 27” QHD 1440p on Windows (where High DPI remains a frustrating hinderance, 15 years after introduced in Vista, and QHD looks quite good, and may be a better gaming resolution) and 27” UHD 2160p on Mac (where the inverse is true and you're almost 100% productivity).

      If it's just for working at home I think the Dell P3421W is a perfectly fine monitor. My work has the older model U series (U3419W)…I paid the COVID price to grab the Dell 3220DGF in 2020 to WFH, and while it's an amazing monitor for gaming, I missed the ultrawide size I was used to from a work perspective. Grabbed a P3421W which is just the cheaper, non ultrasharp equivalent, and have been really happy using it for work, has USB-C PD so can charge my laptop, decent panel quality, rock solid base etc…honestly the 32" one is just sitting on the floor gathering dust atm as all I do is work haha

      No idea if it'll be in the deal, but work is also looking at the new C3422WE which has an integrated webcam and soundbar to assist with all the video conferencing we're doing now - looks pretty sweet but not cheap.

          Yep. I got one, it can charge a 13" M1 MBP or a 14" M1 Pro MBP just fine.

          Worth noting that there are some documented flickering issues with Dell monitors and M1s. The solution that worked for me was running the LCD conditioning (in the monitor menu) for a few hours and setting the monitor to run at full 4K 60Hz (hold option while clicking Scaled in display settings).

              @pkr123: It comes with one! If you want a longer one, you'll want to make sure it supports 4K @ 60 + power delivery + data transfer.

              @The Quote Train: Yep, although I can't recall where. Googling something along the lines of Dell M1 LCD Conditioning should bring it up. Other than the flickering returning for about 5 minutes after waking one of my machines last week, this has worked for me so far.

        I bought two Dell S2722QCs which I hooked up to my 16” late last year.

        Quality is great but I too have had the flickering issues from time to time which you can find reports of on Reddit etc.

        Changing the display mode from Freesync to 60Hz and changing the operating mode from USB speed to display quality seems to help but doesn’t completely solve the problem.

        One monitor it was happening more frequently to the point where I had to RMA. It’s also not directly related to the USB-C/Mac input —- when it happens I can switch to my Windows desktop (via HDMI) and it still persists for a while.

        Overall it’s mostly fine and the USB-C hookup is convenient but I’d be a lot happier if it didn’t spazz out for 20 minutes or so every week.

    I bought the S2722QC with the S2721DGF in last month's deal. The S2721DGF displays beautifully, but the S2722QC looks blurry in comparison. Anyone know if there is something I need to do to make the S2722QC look crisper?

      Depends on your OS and resolution. It shouldn’t be blurry if it isn’t scaled - so either full 4K 3840x2160 or FHD 1920x1080 rather than anything in between. Running the LCD conditioning routine from the menu probably won’t hurt.

    Any advice on the S3422DWG versus the Prism+ XQ340 Pro (currently $599)?

    I haven't participated in one of these Dell sales before.
    Looking at all of the posts here, 90% of them are for people looking at Dell Monitors.

    I don't need a monitor but I'm looking at getting a decent Dell laptop.
    Will this deal apply for that? I guess I will need to wait and see when that link posted goes live but just curious as I know this deal has gone out before.

    Be careful when buying stuff from Dell, bought a monitor early last year and since then i got bombarded with their customer fulfilment department as my contact details become their customers 1st level contacts. I picked up their calls and informed them of this error numerous times, blocked their calls, registered in do not call… seemed do not work! Now just got stuck with their flooded phone calls everytime they have special deals! Here we go… the phone is ringing again!!!!! Agrrr!!!!

    Do these USB-C hubs work:

    Scenario:
    One keyboad mouse for the plugged laptop and desktop? Like KVM
    One plugged in usb drive readable by both units?
    Can one run PIP both devices laptop and desktop and view in PIP simultaneously?

        If you don't need it then grab the 1440p instead.

        I read through a few posts and scaling down to 1440p on a 4k monitor can make it look a bit blurry.

            Mainly for gaming I suppose, especially if your GPU isn't too recent and would struggle to play most games at 4k.

            Dropping down to say 1440p/1080p would look worse vs a monitor with those native resolutions.

            I think fonts would be a bit too small running 4K native so the S2722DC QHD would probably be better than the S2722QC scaled down… right?

              It really depends on your use though, 4K can be a bit overkill on a 27", but I personally haven't seen one in action so can't judge.

              Might be okay though.
