      • I am also experiencing some odd issue, can you see if you can run a speedtest (ie fast.com or speedtest.net) at all? Mine just wouldn't run while internet is clearly working

  • Hey guys,
If I sign up to today, will the switch over more likely to be done in the weekend or next week?
    Cheers!

  • We just signed up with them, I cant run speedtest, none of speedtest service work but I can browse internet and stream video!? Thar is so strange, are they blocking all known speedtest service? Anyonr have same problem?

    • Call them and ask them to reset your connection with new ip address. I was having similar problem but it was resolved after I got new ip.

      • thanks

  • I want to sign up tonight. Where can I get referral code to save more? I noticed there’s no referral system for More on here.

  • Hey OP @Jofzar, can you confirm if it’s possible to switch between different speed plans while still retaining the discount?

I’m thinking the plan pricing (hopefully showing discount) might be visible from the plan switching webpage

    • I would assume no problem as it says get 30% off from any plan, so don't see why not. But you can always call them and confirm for yourself. OP dose not work for More.

  • Has anybody switched over from Optus? can you re-use the optus suppled Sagemcom router?

    • I doubt. I was told by More tech team that the Sagemcom router is not compatible. Do you have any 'more' updates?

  • Hi, help sought please.

I'm wondering if I should have answered yes to more's modem offering.

I've been on cable internet for years but have now been forced on to NBN. A friend told me that NBN will provide a modem to replace my cable modem so I don't need the More one (which seems more like a wireless router). Does that sound right or am I going to be in a pickle when the NBN tech comes to install my ntd?

    Thank you

    • +1

I am not a tech geek, but in general NBN Co provide a black NBN modem for free (that belongs to that address, shouldn't take with you when move out). You need to have your own router, either buy it or supplied by your provider. In the past most ISP provide the router for free if you commit to say 6 or 12 months plan, but seem this days, you have to pay for it. So you either need to buy one from More or buy your own. I had old router from Belong and it worked fine with More, I also have TP Link Deco M5 WIFI mesh 3 pack. So need to do your homework and see what is a better option buy your own or buy from them.

      • +1

The black modem provided by nbn only applies to properties connected by the HFC network. Check here for what nbn provides everywhere else. Everything else you said is right.

For HFC check the Deco M5 is plugged into the nbn modem. The router from Belong is not required.

        • Thanks, all these NBN options are a bit complicated for me :) BTW, I have HFC, so I could plug the Deco M5 straight to the NBN modem? Wonder if there is harm to keep same set up the same ie, NBN box > Belong Router > Deco M5, I have done that (well I did not know) but also as I have (camera system, Bosch Alarm, 2 wire connection to TV) that are plugged to the router, so wouldn't be able to plug all these to the Deco and I think the Mitsubishi ducted AC app is set up to the WIFI of the router. Thanks

          • @huntabargain: If you plugged the Deco M5 into the nbn modem you need to purchase a small switch to plug into the Deco M5. Plug in your cameras, alarm and so on into the ethernet ports on the switch.

There is no real harm in keeping the setup as it is. Go into the TP-Link advanced menu and check that the Deco M5 is configured as a Wi-Fi access point.

      • Thank you for such a detailed response. Sorry, I got logged out of ozb and didn't notice that someone had responded.

You are right. NBN/More sent out what I thought used to be referred to as a modem(or modem router- I haven't had a chance to look at it in detail yet). Some how the terminology seems to have changed over the last few years and I almost thought that I was going to have to fork out $200 for a new "modem" (the sceptic in me wonders if that is part of the reason for the terminology change!).

I'm hoping that I'll be able to continue to use my trusty old rt-n16 as a router/WAP for a while longer. It's been kicking on for around 15 years probably (yer, wifi tech etc is probably way better now).

Thanks ozbargain community. You've provided so much good information over the years and saved mea bunch of cash.

    • For FTTP, HFC and Fixed Wireless nbn provide a NTD that plugs into your own router. For FTTC nbn provide a NCD that plugs into your own router. For FTTN and FTTB nbn don't provide a VDSL2 modem and you need to purchase one yourself.

      More sells a wireless router.

      • There's a cable splitter in the box. Is it worth a try to run both my NBN cable and Bigpond cable at the same time until Bigpond switch me off our do I have to wait for a visit from NBN?

        Thanks

        • I wouldn't run both nbn HFC and Telstra HFC for more than 1 month. If you already have the nbn NTD plug it in. nbn subcontractors will only come out if the nbn NTD doesn't connect to the network.

          • +1

@Twix: Ok, thanks. They came out for my neighbour's nbn HFC a couple of weeks ago so I assumed it wouldn't work for me until they came out. Apparently they tested the line speed/SNR. If it connects, I'll just cancel Bigpond. Taa

So if anyone is interested i have a pi that runs 3 speed tests a day at 5am, 1pm and 8pm. i was with superloop and moved to More 3 days ago same plan 250/25, comparison after a few days below:

    Superloop: Down 210.7, Upload 22.8 , ping 34.3 (2 months test data)

More: Down 212.2, Upload 23.1, ping 29.7 (3 days test data)

The test server is in melbourne im brisbane based.

    so far similar performance.

  • my issues with more telecom (been with them a week)

Running a speed test is always good.. however actually streaming or doing something (Kayo sports, 4K netflix) its hangs, which never ever happened on superloop.. maybe im being picky but things tend to run in 480p on Kayo now, when it would never ever drop below 1080p

    • +2

Could be a DNS issue you could change the default dns to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 on your router and see if that helps.

    • Did this issue resolve itself?

I've just switched over and have the same issue with Kayo

  • Do you need to call existing provider for cancellation or does More will do it for you?

  • Have you guys received the 10k points?
Any idea what happens in case I am opted to earn Qantas points on my cba credit card?

    • +1

The 10K point will take 6-8 weeks to be added

Signed up as a new customer and have been given a referral code in the welcome email. However there is no info anywhere as to what the referee / referer get from using this. Does anyone know?

    • Isn't the referral code is the 30% discount? That is what I got.

      Discount: Coupon/Referral xxxxxx -$23.10
Agent Referral Code: Agent Name CommBank Awards 30% NBN Discount (24 months)

      • No it’s different.
I had a unique code that I received from cba, that I used to sign up and get my 30% discount

On the email from more titled “your order confirmation” there is a section: your unique referral code: xxx which is different to the CBA code. This looks like it is for existing customers to use to refer their friends.

I noticed there is a whole thread on here of people asking for referral codes, however Strange part is that there is no info anywhere as to what anyone gets by using this referral code.

  • Not to shabby 😉

  • Has the plan changed I only see 205/25 as the max speed for the XXXL plan and can't see any mention of 250 on the website?

    • That'd be the 'typical evening speed' - ISPs are very careful not to over-promise these days.

  • Anyone have experience signing up to more than a single address with a CBA Awards credit card? I'd like to get my in laws on this but they don't have a Awards card, wondering if I can just use mine again…

Also my experience was quite good. Applied at night around 1:30am, churned midst a meeting at around 10am which was quite funny. Downtime was about 20-30 minutes, then they sent that second email with the details and saying the service was activated. Popped the username and password into PPPoE and done, back up and running.

    • I have not tried myself, but can't see why not, system just need to verify payment is through CBA award card, so if you get confirmation email with the discount for 24 months then should be good to go, but might not get the 10k bonus point?

  • +1

reckon you could sign up via a commbank card then switch payment methods to something else? would that work?

  • +1

Anyone got a referral code for this? The sign-up process has a section for a referral/promo code so wondering if there's a referral program with mutual benefits.

    • You don’t need a sign up code. You can sign up from their website. There should be a banner stating if you’re CBA customer, you can get 30% discount.

  • Instead of charging the stated price on the website and during checkout of $69.30 they charged my card $99 which is the non discounted price. What's wrong with these people? I had to call them to refund the $27.3 difference.

  • I created an application on 23 Mar to switch from Superloop; it's 4 Apr and I still haven't been connected. I've called them multiple times, was promised multiple times that I will get a call back but no response and no explanation. I've been out of internet for a few days which is proving to be quite difficult for WFH.

Do you need to sign up and keep your Commbank debit or credit card as payment method or just sign up with it?

    • +1

Did you read the terms & conditions?
As per the term & condition: If your CommBank card expires, you change your preferred payment method to a non-CommBank credit or debit card or you cease to have an account with CommBank your discount will be forfeited and your plan fee will return to the RRP monthly price.

  • When you transfer from other company to MORE, do you need to inform the previous company if you are having HFC?

    • +1

Your old provider should be notified by NBN and usually that account gets cancelled without you needing to do anything - but it's probably wise to check in and make sure your account is closed.

Note that some ISPs will give you a pro-rata refund for unused 'days', others don't - so do your homework to see if you need to plan it for your 'anniversary' to make sure you aren't paying for 90% of a month you didn't use.

iirc some have a notice period too..

      • I checked that nbnco will notify my old provider, that's why I didn't notify them. And then I realised that they bill month of April, and then I contacted them. They said I didn't notify them…

        P/s: I switched my NBN on 31/03

  • signed up to the 250 plan, been using it for a about 2 days now. its been noted already but with this ISP I have intermittent connectivity issues where the internet would slow right down to unusable speeds , i've been experience disconnects from online gaming servers. its cheap and all but I can't deal with random disconnects or the internet just hangs for about 5 mins especially during a WFH work meeting.

I've never had these issues with AussieBB to Telstra and last ISP was TPG, so probably gonna switch to something else.

    • Good to know, was considering switching. Do you have FTTP?

  • -1

Just signed up for my parents -
    1. Can someone confirm, details to login into account is sent when account is active? (only got an SMS)
    2. Can someone confirm, PPPoE details will be sent when account is going live.
    3. can someone confirm, that can you 'pay' the first month fee with a CBA card to get the deal and switch to another card for money managemet purposes, and still get the deal? (i asked the agent online, and they said yes; wanting to confirm with any ozbargainers!)

      • thanks man!
my wife with CBA, but our joint one isn't , just hate managing things non-all in one kind of thing

        • Easy.. just set up an automatic monthly payment to her CBA account.

          • @Ridiculous Panda: yeah did that, just dont like how everything is not in one place, one more thing to automate and remember.

  • Note everyone, MORE NBN are sister companies with Tangerine. So win for me, they have been exceptional for me.

  • How long does it take to connect for FTTP?

My dodo expires tomorrow 22nd, if I sign up tonight will it get connected by tomorrow so I can cancel dodo? Or is it too risky?

  • +1

Sharing my experience from switching over from ABB FTTP.

Signed up for 250/25 yesterday around 11am - received confirmation email and $ charged

    Today:
9:30am - Received an "Order placed" email with my connection details
    10:30am - Lost internet connectivity
11:20am - Received an email & SMS that my connection was up and running

Updated my router to PPPoE with the username/password provided, no issues
Initial speed tests averaging ~267/23 mbps
Pings seem ok so far - similar to ABB

All in all a smooth experience. During sign up I selected transfer NBN service. Logged into myABB portal and no longer see an active service on the account, so I presume it's been cancelled as part of the transfer.

  • Tried to sign up and deal was removed from my cart. I realised our CBA cards are linked to the Qantas program rather than Commbank Rewards. Dam. My wife has a basic debit card as well, so will look into whether that one is eligible for Commbank rewards, but I doubt it. May need to look at whether it is feasible and worthwhile to switch from Qantas to Commbank rewards to sign up for this deal. I wonder if the discount will be revoked if I switch back to Qantas rewards after signing up. Anyone dealt with this issue ?

    • Signed up a couple of months ago and had no issues getting the deal, my CBA credit card is linked to earn qantas points so maybe something else is going on with the website? Don't think the website should be able to tell if your CBA card earns Qantas points vs Awards points

    • I think it will depend which deal you are signing up for - this 30% / 12 month one seem to be open to any CBA customers.

The older 40% / 24 month one was a targeted rewards thing (and may not be around anymore?)

Side note - they're offering 100/40 for $76.30 (discounted) now as well - tempting.

    • I signed up using my CBA Ultimate Awards CC(set to earn Qantas points) and see this week that the points were adjusted

04 May 2022 More Bonus Points Promotion 2022 Adjusted 10000 points

Calling CBA rep to find out why

      • It was part of the promo, you also got a bonus 10000 award points (that will be converted to 4000 QF points) if you signed up with a CBA credit card. I received the same on my account

  • +1

Will bankwest ( CBA owned ) card work?

  • +2

Can I open a CBA account and put $2,000 in (then transfer out) monthly to avoid the $4 account fee?

    • Should work. I'm planning to do the same. The T&C only mentioned $2k monthly deposit and nothing about withdrawal.

      • But says Bank initiated excluded

    • +1

Can confirm this works. I have tried it myself and not been charged the account fee.

  • FTTN is not covered in this deal?

  • Two questions, is it possible to switch over on a future date in 2 weeks time? I have had terrible experiences with NBN providers previously with this, most of them just automatically switch you over ASAP.
Second, can I use TP-Link Archer VR400 AC1200 with More (was provided previously by TPG)?
    Thanks.

    • If you don’t want your existing connection to drop, mention in the signup process that you need new uni data port activation. Otherwise it is pretty much transferring from existing connection. You will then have to manually disconnect from your current retailer.

I set a future date over the weekend and it worked out okay. Transfer took about hour so I was out of internet during that time. You can probably configure your router to pppoe during :-)

  • Anyone used signed up services with the same card and gotten discount for both?

  • Picked this from all the current deals and great experience so far.

Signed up last night as my 2 months free with Origin end tomorrow which I ended up cancelling before ordering More (pun intended).

Anyways, less than 24 hours later, I am online with a Telstra Smart modem (much more seamless set up then I had thought and read about). I had to call them to expedite getting me online as right after signing up last night, I got a text from More:

"We have received your NBN order for NBN Transfer. Please ensure you DO NOT cancel your current service with your old provider as this will severely delay your order. Thanks."

Was online within a couple of hours from that call. Good speed so far with a 50/20 service.

    Overall big thumbs up.

  • Merged from [Commbank] nbn 25MB/s $46.20, 50MB/s $53.90, 92MB/s $69.30, 100/40 $76.30 Per Month (for First 12 Months) @ More Telecom

Had this pop up in an Ad. No lock in contracts. Discount only applicable if paid for with an eligible commbank credit/debit card. Price seems pretty good. I'm with Felix on the $35 unlimited 20mbps and have been waiting for something like this to pop up, getting sick of running a hotspot.

Thought it was a scam at first but seems commbank have teamed up with More for the deal upon further research.

Had not seen broadband this cheap anywhere when researching in the past.

      What about the quality?

      • Not bad. I get around 110 on my 100MbPS connection. Peak time speed is is usually in 90s.

    • Any feedback from the people started using it??

      • +3

Local routes are fine at night but international browsing seems to slow down somewhat. Otherwise all okay during the day (HFC, Melbourne).

Will probably be going back after the $2 Telstra deal finishes.

      • +1

I signed up via CommBank deal a few months back.
250/25 HFC for $80ish. TLDR; pretty dodgy at first until I complained then magically resolved and rock solid since.

        Copy/paste from older thread:
        ….
Joined more y'day. Service activated today. 250/25, supposedly. First speed test was 92/20. A few thereafter ranged between 16Mbps and 65Mbos down.

Called more. Jumped through all their hoops. They've escalated to nbn. Apparently going to hear back within 24 hours. So far it is not the seamless churning experience I've had jumping between SL and ABB.

After about 24 hours of speed test results jumping around between 16 and 120mbps the NBN technician came out and after I told him the sequence if events he asked which RSP I used. When I told him "More" he groaned and replied "That'll be your problem. Complain enough and they'll bump you onto a faster server. They often start folks out on a granny server for people who don't run speed tests."

He spent about an hour running various tests finding nothing wrong with the cable. He eventually swapped out the NBN connection box as a last resort. That made no difference to speed test results. His final words were "there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get up to gigabit speeds on this connection, but obviously you're not. Take it up with your RSP."

About 3 hours later, with no further action being taken from my end, the connection came good and has been reliably testing at 250/25.

About an hour later a more rep called noting that the NBN tech had visited and asked if everything was ok.

Has been rock solid ever since.

      • It's been horrible for WhatsApp calls. I've had to switch of WiFi and use 5g instead to keep a stable connection.

    • Hi op, is Felix better than this?

      • +1

cant say as I haven't signed up as of yet, I have found Felix good and no real issues apart from running it from a phone hotspot that turns off from time to time a tad annoying. Felix is Good if you have kids and go away a bit too as you just take the hotspotting device.

Does bankwest card work for this deal as an eligible card type?
