Now this is a much better deal with the RX6600 8gb compared to 6500xt deals posted on ozbargain a few weeks ago.
Especially those people who thought the 6500xt was good and those who didn't believe you could get better deals on gpu's.
    Where are they now? :)

  • +5

Oh yeah for the same money no way anyone will buy those 6500xt prebuilts

  • +9

pretty nice for the current environment. still miss the days of buying one of those awesome RX 570 deals for ~500 lol…

    • Yeah, I should've jumped onto those. Can never predict the market.

    • +1

I got one of those for about 700 or so with a monitor included, and ended up with a RX 580 because they'd run out of 570s. Good days

      • +1

good choice, that system would still be running hard today and for another few years if treated well. i picked up one with a 1030 in 2019 and been running solid since

  • Haven't bought a computer in a long time. How loud would this setup be? Getting hard to resist these deals!

    • +2

Should be fairly quiet. No spindle disks. GPU/CPU midrange, so should not get so hot. High airflow case with plenty of cooling. If you want it to be quieter you would probably need to upgrade the CPU cooler, which unfortunately is not a offered by TechFast for this deal.

      • +1

From my experience Intel stock coolers are relatively quiet and adequate compared to Amd stock coolers (such as the noisy af prism) in terms of noise.
Aftermarket custom cooler is the way to go (but check the cooler height for this case) otherwise the stock Intel cooler shouldn't be bothersome.

  • Would this be OK for a good home general use pc if I buy this without the graphics card? Does the mobo have on board graphics?

    • +2

No onboard graphics and no option to buy without GPU.

    • This is a whole package, very ideal for gamers and home use.

    • +2

If you asking, this is probably going to be an overkill of what you need.

    • The CPU model is 10400F where the “F” denotes “‘Fraid not” to onboard graphics

  • So how does this go up against the 3060?

      • +4

People need to really stop referencing userbenchmarks, they are really not reliable

        • +2

True but it gives rough idea of what you are getting.

    • +1

the 6600 and 3060 at 1080p have VERY SIMILAR performance. I do believe that the 3060 is better, but don't quote me on that. However, I think the 6600xt is better than the 3060 at 1080p. Please check these facts because I haven't looked at a comparison in a while, but I know one thing for certain: they have very similar performance at 1080p, and the 6600 is one of the best cards for 1080p gaming.

      • +2

You're on the ball, 6600 is a great value alternative to the 3060. In certain games 6600 might edge it, but very similar overall.

  • Just asking for those who bought this without Win10 OS, where to get the OS from?

    • Microsoft

    • +4

If you have a student email you should be able to get it via onthehub or azure dev tools for teaching.

Or you could try out linux. It's getting better by the month, but still depends very much on the games you intend to play — check out protondb to get an idea of compatibility

Find an old laptop running windows 7 that your parents or friends say doesn't run anymore, and give that windows registration number a crack. Worked for me on a brand new PC using the code from under an 11 year old laptop!

  • just wondering what would be a more economic option?

    1. buy techfast pre-built, swap my 2070 GPU with the better techfast GPU then resell the techfast system
    2. sell my current GPU then buy a new GPU
    • +1

Definitely option 2. It’s easier to sell a component rather than a whole system. Youll lose value on the build too since it’s technically not new and you won’t be able to transfer warranty.
Side note: I hope you do realise that you’ll be downgrading if you swap your RTX 2070 with an RX 6600

  • Silly question but would this be any good for gaming such as warzone, six siege and halo infinite on medium/max settings?

Unless this is extreme to run those games, is there any cheaper deals?

    • +1

I wouldn't go cheaper then this build. Both Warzone and infinite run like shit. Just lookup 6600 gaming benchmarks at 1080p. If you can hit stable 60fps is ok.

Mind you this would play 95% games just fine

      edit 6600 not 6600xt.

      • +1

I recently played Warzone on an RX570 with no issues at 60fps.

6600 will not run Warzone like shit at 1080p. It'll be perfectly fine.

Edit: if you were trying to say Warzone is unoptimized compared to like.. Every other game… I completely agree! Haha

        • +1

Yep unoptomised. I played it on my 5700xt and played halo on my 6700xt at 1440p and it was just inconsistent with frames

  • Anyone know how would this build go for heavy DaVinci resolve/Photoshop use? Thanks!

    • It'll be fine, shouldn't have any issues running Resolve/Premiere or Photoshop.

  • +2

Also a way to clear stock of old CPUs: Bundle it with a GPU everyone wants.

  • Allied power supply?

  • How would this go with iRacing?

    • +2

not great - it has no wheels

  • +1

The poor guy who got scammed with that $900 11 year old pc! He will be more pissed when be sees this. At least, he learnt about ozbargain because of that scumbag.

    • +1

      What?

      • Have a look at the computing forum. It's in there. Really feel bad for the buyer

        • Edit: Actually I'm staying out of this, my opinion is irrelevant.

          • +2

@Dvbargain: The evidence from the buyer and part seller confirmed the seller scammed him. There's screenshot conversations etx

            • +2

@maverickjohn: I didn't read that far haha that's shit as then
Edit: I read it further and yeah they're both in the wrong. Buyer for not just doing some of their own research and assuming the world will take care of them and seller for saying bullshit like the components are "Current". 990x isn't a piece of shit but it's not (profanity) current lmao

      • +1

Yep, I already told OP there, with all these super value deals keep coming and keep cheaper, he won't be just expecting a brick thru his window, that buyer will probably burn down his house!

        • Jails not really worth $900.00. But I'm sure seller learnt a lesson on morality and buyer one in trust

  • +6

this or a computer built 12 months ago with GTX1060 and DDR3?

  • How does one operate this without an OS?

    • +2

When you install windows from your bootable drive, you just choose " I don't have product key" . After installing windows, only downside is there is some transparent writing on your display on right bottom corner. But it doesn't bother me anyway.

  • Wow same CPU different GPU but half the price of the other one RTX 3080
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/687622

Can this PC play games like The Witcher 3 and Fall out 4? Or should I look at RTX 3080 for those games?

    • +1

      At 1080p, definitely.

      • At 1080 what is the max FPS?

        • +2

Plenty of benchmark videos on YouTube.

  • What's the current wait time for this one?

  • Can this run dual screen via HDMI etc etc?

  • Also, how 'upgradable' is a computer like this?

  • This, or the BPC 3060 deal posted a week ago?
