      Hi Luke,

Are you willing to ship these unassembled?

      • +1

We can. Email [email protected] and it can be arranged.

      • +1

is this because of risk of damage in transport or why?

        • +1

For me it would be. I think max insurance is $1000, and anything shipped over $1000 some places don't insure at all.

Wouldn't trust a lot of things shipped from melb to Qld let alone a built PC.

          • +1

            @Quantico: Ok - good point
I was going to take the easy option and get assembled but i'm Qld too

  • +4

This is a better deal than the 10700f one for gamers.

  • any upgrades you guys think are worthy before i pull the pin? at this stage
    memory will be upgraded
    storage to 1tb
    3080 to 12gig
and windows as its plug and play at that stage!

    • +7

Memory - You can if you find 16G is not enough.

Storage - there are two nvme slots and a few sata so you can DIY easily

3080 12G upgrade - no big difference compared to 10G one

    • +2

upgrade the case for just $19, and the mobo with msi mpg for $99.

      • +10

        I hope you're joking

      • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

      • +4

I haven't spat my water from my mouth from laughter in so long.

The only thing Dell has going for it these days is support and even that's questionable.

      • Wow I guess this is how Dell manages to do sales. Thanks to ill informed folks.

        • +7

This is bongo's new line of trying to stop people buying from us. He often does this after he gets banned; he puts a thin veil of suggesting other alternatives instead of buying from us, but eventually can't help himself and gets personal, and gets banned. Rinse, repeat. A leopard and a bongocat never changes its spots.

          • @luketechfast: haha, at the end still just an animal … thx for letting us know not to believe into all his BS.

      • how long have u been hating on these guys geez

    • +1

Motherboard with wifi is worth. I switched from Ethernet and haven't had any issues

      • +1

WiFi is pretty good and yeah I have not experienced many changes going from Ethernet to WiFi.

The games I get bad lag in already would not benefit much from me going to Ethernet.

      • +3

So not true , wifi gaming is arse , vs constant ping of 9 with wired

        • +1

If only internet was the only issue…I mostly have issues with terrible server's here in Australia

          • @[Deactivated]: No issues for me …from Sydney 🤣

            • @botchie: I play Warzone and Battlefield 2042 and get constant server lag despite having fantastic internet speed

        • I play online daily. Really strong signal. Haven't had any hiccups

          • +3

@belongsinforums: I usually get hiccups after eating spicy food

    • +1

I personally think the base spec is on point. I don’t believe the 12gb version is worth the extra, but if you got spare cash and don’t need to buy property or pay uni fees then may as well. 16gb 3200 memory all good for gaming as well. Unless you use it for prod workloads then consider doubling it.

    • +1

I think I'd go upsize SSD, considering 32GB ram - not sure why just don't want the same as my current PC as doesn't feel like an upgrade! (even tho older/slower) and would add additional HDD separately.

PS - "Pull the pin" usually means to stop doing something rather than push the go button…."informal. to end a relationship, project, program, or the like, because of lack of continuing interest, success, funds, etc." I'm guessing its origins are in throwing a grenade / blowing something up to end it

      • +1

        Looked this up because internet…

"Pull the pin" actually comes from the act of disconnecting train carriages from each other by physically pulling the pin out that holds the two together.

I think they meant "pull the trigger" - which comes from pulling the trigger of a gun. The bullet is fired and is now unstoppable.

        TIL

        • TIL too and yes, pull the trigger makes sense in the context, hadn't thought of that

          • @MrFrugalSpend: Bonus one:

"Pull the plug" - as in empty the bath water out, after bathing.

I sometimes wonder how you'd ever learn English as a language, it makes no sense a lot of the time.

            Ok… I'll stop.

    • +4

The single thread performance is virtually the same, and no (?) games effectively use more threads than the 5600x has. Any difference is gaming performance, except at stupid high fps counts (300+), will be negligible.

    • +3

The 5600x is a very capable CPU and has proved itself for years.
The term 'bottleneck' has been thrown around too many Facebook groups making people worry too much.

In this configuration, for GPU intensive tasks - There would be very minimal 'bottleneck'(If any) - We're talking 0.5-2%. And when figures are that low, its not even worth mentioning.

A 'bottleneck' would only occur here possibly if you were running CPU intensive games or unoptimized games (like COD noobzone) at 1080p.
But like, who buys a 3080 system to play games at 1080p? (rhetorical question).

Good deal @Luke… Its hard to compete with your pricing lately.

EDIT - This CPU also has a low TDP (or power draw), which Im guessing suited Lukes budget for the 750W PSU.

    • +2

The only bottleneck of such a system is the user himself.

      • good old PEBCAK

  • -6

not sure why they cheap out on the CPU.

    • To bring down the price? There is an 12900kf deal also linked if you care about productivity performance.

        • At 1080p?

    • +5

To keep the price as low as possible, when a more powerful CPU would not help for gaming (especially at resolutions most 3080 purchasers are playing games at, 1440p+)

    • +4

How is a 5600x cheaping out on CPU? It’s proven over and over to be one of the best gaming cpus in current times. Heck, even my 1600af is still good enough for all games

  • +1

Not sure on why they went with BX series ssd, mx500 500gb is $11 more and way more reliable

    • mx500 500gb is $11 more

That's it, that's the answer. These systems shave every unnecessary $ where they don't think a competitor with offer something the majority of buyers will think is significant. Most buyers will not know the difference BX to MX

    • +3

their bulk buy price might differs more

  • What's the brand of this RTX 3080 card?

    • +2

Given Luke said it's a team red version of the other deal, I'd suspect it's the same: "brand/model may vary; Gainward primarily in use but local Giga/MSI stock also incoming. Specify preference if desired but I can't guarantee provision"

      • Correct thanks, added above.

        • Which variant from Gainward?

  • This with a 5700x would be a good deal!

    • +3

just change the coupon code to 5700X-3080-APRIL

  • +1

like to see something similar to this deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/689200

  • +6

HODL!!! (getting more difficult by the day)

    • +1

So tempting but the RTX4000 series is so close.

      • Yeah close but not that close, cant get our hands on it till december I think, I checked for 3000 series in 2020

        • September would be a paper release, More like octrober or november if the mining craze is dead.

      • It will be scooped up by scalpers no doubt and not in plentiful supply…probably better to get a 30 series deal now and wait it out

    • When will you bite? $1700? $1500?

Just wonder what's realistic best price for this/similar build

    • If it wasn't for Elden Ring I would have HODL much longer. Instead I bought the exact same system on Boxing day for $500 more and I didn't get the system until mid Feb. :o

  • Any chance of something like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/689837, with a bit more CPU and a bit less GPU? Still playing some games where the CPU makes all the difference.

  • Any chance you can do a 6900 XT or 6800XT deal?

  • I bought a techfast 3080 last year…now PC is shutting off at random times…now I have to pay for shipping to get it back for a few warranty claim?

    • That's pretty standard, a large number of warranty claims are pebkac unfortunately. Computer shops can't offer cheap computers and unlimited free freight for when something goes wrong.

      • How does dell warranty work? should we pay return shipping there as well?

        • they sent me a courier slip to stick onto the box (they've paid for it already)

    • Are you sure it's not a software problem? Did you reinstall windows?

      • +2

Shutting off at random times…… in order I would have a good look around first.:
        - If just finding it turned off - Power settings, going to sleep!? Surely not that simple but you never know!?
        - If sudden - check for loose power connector (power lead from socket to PSU, PSU leads to mobo and other key components etc -
        - Make sure its not only when under hard load - i.e. overloading the power (overheat / OC)
        - Virus/Malware Scan just to be sure (should already have found if setup correctly)
        - O/S Errors - reinstall Windows as you suggest (Hopefully commenter set it up to easily allow this without too much hassle or file loss)
        - Then I would diagnose hardware issue E.g. I'd hope based on symptoms I'd have a fair idea of where the problem is but if power, I'd probably try powering from a spare PSU to see if its faulty - but if commenter doesn't know how, only after the above would I pay to send back for supplier to do so.

        • +1

Thanks for a really helpful reply. I've tried to troubleshoot and not sure what the issue is. Windows is updated and haven't installed any new drivers lately.

In my limited desktop experience it's usually the PSU as the weaker component but I don't have a spare to try with though.

It tends to shut off either in the first 2-5 mins after logging onto windows not running PC under load, or it works for an hour and shuts off. It's fairly intermittent but now the shut off within first few minutes of windows has become more frequent ie. Once every 3-4 starts.

I'll contact techfast, thanks Luke for your reply also.

    • +2

If it is a fault with the hardware we provided, we will cover the shipping, either up front or via reimbursement.

  • +1

Tfw you haven't even received the 5600X 3080 deal from March yet another 5600X 3080 deal comes along for April that is $150 cheaper.. 😭

    • +1

      Maybe OP can help

      • +1

Would be absolutely great if he can, but I shouldn't expect anything since it is technically a new deal and my build did ship a few days ago, it's just that it was way later than expected. And I couldn't stand HODLing for any longer after the past several years, so no regrets tbh

  • What NVME drive is used with the upgrade?

  • Anything like this but without the 3080? Was looking for a budget upgrade and settled on getting these parts when I can afford it https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/ThatNintendoKid/saved/#view…

  • I told myself 3080 Ti 5950X 64gb ram minimum and if the next series comes earlier before that then so be it.

  • Pity about the lack of payment options such as PayPal or AfterPay.

    • Lack of paypal was the initial reason I never made any purchases, guess it still is since I would've pulled the trigger on this deal.

      • Yeah it's the reason why I'm not buying either, and they probably aren't estimating their losses due to this. It's not a small amount of money and if warranty is required then the customer has to send it back out of their own pockets and back again (I'm assuming) once the issue is resolved.

    • Ouch no Paypal? What buyer protection is on offer?

      • +1

Charge back thru card, Like any other transaction

        • I don't have a credit card..

          • +2

@scottySK: Debit card. Mastercard or Visa debit offer the same.

    • +1

Afterpay cuts into thier profit by a decent margin. It may not be viable for them at this price.

  • back in my day that was a little more than the price of a 3080 on its own…

  • +5

Ouch, friend ordered a 3070TI build from you guys last week under my recommendation, this seems far better.

Here's hoping they never see this, making my advise look bad lol, hey Luke, anyway I can organise an upgrade as a surprise for them without them knowing if I pay the difference? Would make a good bday pressy.

    • +1

Ok I wanna be your friend.

      Good on you man

    • +1

Waiting for the 'I bought a 3070ti, but when I opened It was a 3080mini post'

    • If it hasn't been built/sent yet, show him this and ask if he wants to enquire after an upgrade?
I've seen heaps of comments on past deals where people contact Techfast, request the newer deal and pay the difference?

    • Can do, replied to your PM

  • Patiently waiting on a sweeeeet ITX SFF setup. 🙏
