  • Not bad for 2.

I would buy two Google TV's from Harvey Norman deal posted today instead of this. From what I can tell the Google TV is superior - casting works better, more apps and has better usability than the Fire TV

      • Handy link. Thank you.

Quick look and the only thing i didn't see (it might have been there) but worth mentioning is that the Firestick can be paired with Alexa speakers for the playing of Audio without lag (Google hasn't got this sorted yet when I last looked).

Eg I have two Gen 2 Echo's either side of my tv and they sound loads better than the tv itself and many cheaper soundbars. Some people like to have a bedroom tv sound come to a bedside echo late at night as well for example so as not to wake others.

These also still get use for online radio and Spotify at other times as a stereo pair but use with the firestick is a big benefit to me. Big bonus difference.

Apart from that the remote suits me better. Rarely pick it up by the wrong end like the CCWGTV which I also have.

    • +3

I actually think the FireTV stick 4K max is a better device. Faster, more flexible and certainly more open.

    • +4

I own both. I have had nothing but issues with CCWGTV. A factory reset fixes these issues but they return a little while later. I can't fathom what is going on with it.
The Fire stick has been flawless since I plugged it in. It's also lag-free. 10/10 would buy again.

      • +2

Could not agree more. Never had an issue with my FireTV 4k Max. But have weird issues with the CCWGTV.

      • Ok, sounds like I was wrong then! Depending on how old your version is, keep in mind that manufacturers often do minor updates over the life of their product, so what happened for you won't necessarily happen to someone who buys today

    • Same amount of apps
Tho UI of firestick is quite bad imo

    • I have 4 of the MAX and 1 lite and have no issues with any of them other then the UI is not that customisable.

  • Well, that's about the price was aiming for.
Anyone in Perth want to split this deal with me?

    • +1

Get it with the method I posted below instead.

  • Might be best to wait for Prime day, these will surely get discounted then

  • +2

I'll repeat what I posted in a previous deal earlier:

$67 at Target and should be able to combine with $10 off by signing up to newsletter.

Don't even need OnePass for free delivery either as it's over $45.

    So $57 delivered.

  • They got a native Kayo app on these yet ?

    • Nope, I found out the hard way last minute when trying to watch the footy on the weekend.

      • Yeah, I nearly bought one a while ago but no Kayo killed it for me. I know you can probably side load it or use Kayo web or something, but I just cbf.

        • I'm going to try the Kodi add on but if you cbf with side loading then that's probably too hard too.

          • +1

@OzBragain: Side load is simple and also can easily add it to Kodi.

            • @boxall: You know that and I know that but still too much effort for some.

The game had already started and the kids didn't want to miss any more so we used nine now on the day…just haven't gotten back to it.

          • @OzBragain: Too hard and cbf are different in my mind, but you’re right unless there’s a driving reason I will choose the simpler option.

  • Is this better than the Foxtel now box? Mine is driving me a bit insane with sideloaded apps crashing at present
