    • I couldn't add to cart in Edge, but in Firefox it was fine

  • +9

bought 3 for triple monitor setup thanks OP

    • +66

Buy abit more to make a full circle

      • +29

        • +2

  • -7

    This is an iq test…

    • +32

      This is ozbargain Spartan kick

    • +10

      Best case: bargain monitor
      Worst case: a refund

I’m giving it a go. Dell has honoured price errors in the past though I don’t think such a large one

      • +11

I still have my dell $9 printer.

        • +2

How much does the ink cost you?

          • +3

@Mechz: Like most, it’s still in the box :(

      • +7

Refund probably won't even be necessary. Dell only charges your card after they have shipped the item or about to ship. Which is unlikely in this case

  • +8

pulled the trigger. nice find. waiting for a refund now…

    • I used Paypal. No charge yet :-(

      • same here, no transaction or order confirmation email from dell, but got email from Paypal though

        • +1

I got both, paypal and order received from Dell.

  • Ordered, will see what happens :)

  • I have just ordered as well, Will most likely not be honored, but hey, gotta try.

  • Awesome. Waiting for a refund as well!

  • Ordered. Thanks OP.

  • +3

    HODL

    • +2

      refunds to the MOOOOON 🚀🌑

  • +13
    • This is the only one that looks like an error

    • -1

Time for the real iq test

    • +1

Thanks! Got the S2722QC one as well.

  • +2

    Worth a shot. Either 0 cost or a $2499 monitor for 10%

  • Yeah bought one

  • +2

Thanks. Put 250 into my dell savings account for next week

  • I too dabbled……waiting for the laugh.

  • Gave it a shot

  • +1

    Deal of the year?

  • Thanks OP - ordered one fingers crossed

  • worth a shot

  • +9

Anyone's got a spare coupon code for extra discount?

    • +11

      You serious…?

    • +4

Well I thought it was funny mate..

    • Amex has 10% credit back

  • What's the chance dell honors this?

    • +19

Same chance as house prices going back to 2005 prices.

      • +4

        Very good chance then

      • And chances of petrol goes below $1

        • +5

          Happened in 2020

        • I mean once all crude oil has been mined, theoretically the price ($0) will be lower than $1 since you won't be able to purchase it?

          • @ProjectZero: Looks like you don’t understand basic supply and demand. Very limited supply, very large price increase. Peak oil was a lie, we’ll never completely run out, it may just get more expensive to extract.

            • @Meconium: Pretty much this. And if the price ever gets high enough it'll make other methods feasible, like turning plastics back into oil/oil from other sources. There'll always be another barrel hanging around.

it may just get more expensive to extract.

This point I think is lost on a lot of people. Its pretty much the same with coal, there is always more (at this stage) but you've gotta keep going deeper. Theoretically it is a finite resource but if we've used it up we've probably got bigger problems. I can see oil being used for plastics in the long run, but based on a quick search only 2.8% of crude oil is used outside of fuel (aka directly burning it), so if that lowers we should be able to get by for a long while.

            • @Meconium: I understand that but surely there is overlap with stupid people and rich people so once the oil gets stupid expensive, pretty sure there will still be people buying/using oil.

Considering it is a finite resource, there will be an end to it someday… Just dont know when

  • no idea why but I just bought one too

  • +4

bought one, used paypal pay in 4 so it is only $62.25 upfront today

    • MEE TOO!!!

    • -2

$62.25 today, plus a potential credit check.

    • Me too!

  • their ts and cs confirm the right to cancel and refund if pricing error so fat chance anyone is getting one

    • +6

That is the same for nearly every business. The hope is that they honour it. It's happened before.

      • +1

        Bunnings drone, say no more

    • there is a chance (a small one) some of us here on a previous dell deal got a free upgrade worth $500-600ish when they ran out of stock on the older ultrawide

  • +2

Ordered. Have one right in front of me. Is 2x 38 setup too big ?

    • +4

Never too big for $250 per screen!
But yeah nah it’s gonna get cancelled anyway

    • Sell the spare on eBay and make some profit!

    • -1

I got 3x so I don't have to look at the line between monitors…

  • Worth a shot tor sure.

  • bought 3….waiting for my money to be refunded

    • +1

y the dislikes? just being realistic

  • Ordered, lets see what happens.

Already have enough monitors, but could always make room for this one :)

  • Just jumped on the boat for 1. yay. Waiting for my refund.

  • Ordered

  • Bought one and see how it goes.

  • +1

Expect to be heart broken very soon 😁

  • Gotta be in it to win it!

  • Got one. Even though don't need it.

  • +1

    Ordered, why not haha

    • +1

      Will you honour it?

      • +1

Oops I'm not associated. Misclick on my phone! Sorry

  • No good luck for the women?

  • Took a dip & ordered two. Cmon Dell!

    • +1

Apparently its frowned upon to order more than one, take an upvote.

  • -5

get the lawyers ready if they cancel

  • Anyone else your their card and have not been charged yet?

    • No charge on my card yet. I’ve received the “Order Received” email but not the “Order Confirmation” email.

  • +1

I never order a pricing error before. Placed order and finger cross. Let this be my first time experiencing it!

Dont even need a monitor nor do I have room to put it.

    • +15

These problems are of no consequence to those who follow the way of the bargain

      • +7

        this is the way

      • +1

Sounds like some kind of Jedi academy…

        BECAUSE IT IS

        • Forget about Cashrewards, we must not.

  • AU$2,250.00 discount, unbelievable! It's time to stock up.

  • Oh I would be soooo thrilled if they honoured it

  • -8

  • +1

Don’t forgot to use shop back or Cashrewards for 6% cash back lmao

    • +13

can't risk going through CR. I paid asap

      • +1

        This.

      • How does CR work? Do they hold the money or something?

    • Monitors only get 1.5%

    • 0% cashback for ALIENWARE Monitors

    • Don’t forgot to use shop back or Cashrewards for 6% cash back lmao

It said this on CR site "Alienware (excludes monitors)"

    • Yeah sorry lads. My bad. Was rushing to checkout so I don’t check all these fine prints. :(

  • -6

    Grabbed 10

  • Ordered! Now waiting to see if it gets sent.

  • this has to be deal of the yeear

  • +5

You won't be charged until Dell Australia processes your order. To see the full transaction details, log in to your PayPal account. Please remember, it may take a few moments for this transaction to appear. Thanks for using PayPal.

    • Even easier for Dell to refund everyone, just cancel all orders at once.

  • I look forward to having my purchase refunded , this is great fun at ozbargain stay tuned

  • +1

Can we Price match with Amazon?

    • In most case, no, they can refuse to price match when the price is way under their cost.

  • +1

Gotta be in it to win it

  • +1

Thanks OP. Actually needed this! Cant wait to be disappointed later today when this purchase bounces….

  • -7

Copped 5, don't know why lol thanks OP

  • Bet we will see these on ebay from scalpers

    • Bet we won't and they'll all be cancelled and refunded. But we can only hope they honour a few (mine please!)

  • +16

Guys don’t order more than one, it’s just a higher chance you’ll ruin it for everyone

  • This or the Wuben C3?

  • Well it took the order, so …

  • +2

Nice. Ordered one and a S2722QC on separate orders, fully expecting not to get either.

    • +1

Good idea. The 38” curved might be too big for my desk.

  • Ordered one.
Do anyone get the confirmation email?

  • Fully expecting a refund, but you never know!

  • +2

    No cashrewards "Alienware (excludes monitors)"

Bought one, because of ozbargainers, OP may not be able to get it.

    • No cashrewards no deal /s

      • It’s 1.5% for monitors

        • Not Alienware monitors, I think, this is on the CR site ""Alienware (excludes monitors)"

  • lol DEAL OF THE YEAR!

  • +1

    Don’t need it, bought anyway

  • wohoo…
not greedy i bought 2 just for wfh

  • Ordered

  • +2

Awesome, ordered one of the 27" ones aswell just in case this actually goes through.

  • +1

    Bought one for tax deduction

  • Somebody’s getting fired today.

    • F for fallen comrade

  • Card hasn’t even been charged

    • They won't charge until it get shipped, so a very high chance they won't honor.

But this is my PayPal "You've submitted an order in the amount of $249.01 AUD to Dell Australia"

  • I thought, i will never joined the " things not required but still ordered" army. However this is too good to resist.

  • ordered and waiting
    Thanks OP

  • Ordered, received the order confirmation
    Thanks OP!

  • +9

Even if there was a very very slight chance of it being honoured, after people started ordering multiples etc…i think theres no chance at all it will be honoured.

    • +8

I remember years back when they price errored HDD at $8 they honored all the x1 orders. Those who ordered 2 or more got cancelled - although one friend showed his raid array and they agreed he needed 8.

    • +2

      Yep.. idiots

  • +1

Found 10% cashback in Amex offers as well + 6% Cashrewards, ordered 2 fingers crossed!

    • +1

      cashreward excl monitor i think

    • Nice spotting, added the offer to my Amex

  • Good bargain. Anyone have any further discount codes?

  • Ayo, lets go! Ordered.

  • -2

Almost certain this will not be honoured but that's what I said about the Lenovo deal so I bought one anyway

    • What was the Lenovo deal?

      • +2

        $100 of free shit

  • -17

Just invested in 10 ;) let’s see how this goes

  • It is still not OOS, interestingly how many stock they have.

    • +2

Shipping dates just get pushed back.

  • -8

    Thanks mate bought 100.

    • You'll be richer selling these on marketplace.

  • +2

    ordered one for the culture

  • I have 1 already and would love 3 setup )

  • +1

Can't wait to act indignantly surprised when I talk to their customer service bot

  • damn, wish it was that price on the NZ site

  • Now i need a 3080…

  • Took a punt.
    Lets see what happens.

  • I ordered one too.. Lets see what happens

  • Got one thanks OP

  • Not hoping for anything but ordered 2 for home office.

    • @ksama0079 check your order history page at dell account?

  • Thanks, bought 3 different monitors including the one in the headline

  • -3

    grabbed one.

and then another with two 4k monitors because im a greedy pig.

  • fingers crossed 🤣

  • +4

Bought one, hope they will honor it, for those order 10, 100% they will cancel order

  • ordered, thanks OP

  • Alright It still works haha. Just ordered one though paypal :D

  • Order one thank you

  • First Lenovo and now Dell XD

    • +1

      nah should be under 55

  • -1

Order for 2 placed and accepted via PayPal 0837

    • @rhyso check your order history page at dell account?

  • I'm already imagining working on big screen :D Please honor it Dell Gods!

  • -2

everyone check your dell account, order history.

    i bought two paid 498$
but the order details page becoming 1 unit, still same price

  • -1

I am 90% sure this is a price error. If you go to their monitor deals page, you can see it is meant to include 30% off but the price has 90% off.
I bought 3 with optimism and joy. Lol.

  • -1

This isnt even a $2500. BS RRP.

I bought this last year for $1400. Probably worth less than $1000 now that the OLED models have come out replace this IPS panel

  • +2

Finally saw one of these early enough to participate.

    Bought!

  • +1

somebody at Dell is gonna rock up this morning and wonder why they have 1488… 89… orders pending

  • +3

There is literally 0 chance this will be honoured given how much traction its got here + the people ordering 10. Hopefully they at least give some kind of voucher or something for those who ordered.

    • +3

For those who ordered 1. Not greedy c**** ordering 10.

  • +10

Lesson learnt from Bunning drone and Optus Samsung pad…

You need to be in it to win it!

    Possible outcome.. some $20 voucher
    Worst case…. get nothing.

  • -11

Did anyone else just get the order shipped email and text message? Amazing

  • -1

Bought one, already have the 34” so didn’t really need an upgrade

  • +3

We need to merge all these dell monitor deals, there is no way they are legit.

  • +1

    Thanks OP :)

As many has pointed, could be price error and not honored but gotta be in it to win it :)

Best of luck for all of us :)

Now.. if there's another one like this for a laptop/pc, that would make my week :P LOL

    • +2

      Alienware :))

  • ordered. thanks OP

  • -2

    Bought 3, hype is real

  • ordered one thanks

  • cant believe t his, and its tax deductible as well for my work!!

  • +2

    Ordered 2. Wife not happy.

    • Same. She said, so you get your money back after 7-10 days processing.

      • +1

Wiser than 99% of people here (me included)

  • +4

They accidentally listed at cost price

  • Payment isn't going through. It's over.

  • +1

Nobody from Dell is at work yet

  • Ordered

    • Thanks, bought 10

    • No one gona buy that in 2022

      • No one gonna buy that in 2002

  • I think they're just missing a 9 in the price.

    Old price: $2,499.01
    New price: $249.01

I ordered and received a paypal email which says I won't be charged until Dell process my order. So it's not looking good tbh.

  • I ordered on my phone witb PayPal. Got my confirmation email.
    Wish me luck.

    • Did you get confirmation or just order received? I got one saying order was received and order confirmation would come later

      • Soz, i meant paypal. Not dell.
        So yes, just received.

  • Ordered, Dell has made my day and hopefully the dream is coming true

  • +1

Anyone got a order confirmation email yet? Only got the order received email

    • +6

The hopes in this post is so HIGH

    • First time here?

  • +7

Maybe if Ozbargain didn't catch on and order thousands then there probably would have been more chance of honouring the error 🤣

    • +1

      ^ This…

    • +5

Or if OZB members didn't go silly and just ordered one or two.

      • +2

Don't look at me, I only ordered 100.

      • +3

I am sure there was a Broden somewhere that broke the camel's back.

  • +3

Don't expect it to be honoured, but ordered.

Just the one not to ruin it for everyone else.

Chatted with Amazon, but wouldn't budge on price matching as they do not have such a policy.

Even pushed for a discount, but no joy.

  • Aaaaaaaaaand it's gone

  • Was quick to order. May even buy a new laptop to match.

  • The deal is no longer available.

  • "Sorry, this deal is no longer available."

  • I'll take a voucher, wouldn't mind a monitor though.

  • Ozbargained. If anyone doesnt need , I am happy to take it.

  • +1

Completed order and now the deal is no longer available!! Fingers crossed!!

This link still works - https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/alienware-38-curved-gam…

  • "Sorry, this deal is no longer available."

NOOOO I WAS ON THE CHECKOUT!

  • Its being taken down now, lets see if they honour it

  • +2

I am going to need a bigger desk..

  • +7

    They’ve got to the office

    • +1

Someone's gonna be brought into a performance meeting for sure but we ozbargainers will be their support persons

  • Looks like they've caught on!

    "We're sorry.
There was a problem processing your request.
    Please try again later."

  • +1

Seems like I've already been charged. Paid with PayPal 4 payments.

Edit: nevermind, it's pending but hasn't went through yet

  • Noo the deal is gone :(

  • +3

Zero chance they honour 12,000 OLED displays, they would be losing millions on that…

    • +1

      these aren't the OLED models

      • -2

(profanity) hell!!! I just bought 50…

  • -7

Who's got the pdf copy of the threat to sue for not honouring a price error?

    • +5

      YOU are one desperate guy.

    • +9

Dunno but I've made an email draft:

      Helo,

I bought cheap scren so I really think I deserve to have it. Pls I need it to surf ozbarg and get my 🏅

      Kind regards,
      Ozbarg member

      • +2

Could you forward this to me in times new Roman font to look professional thx

        • +2

Comic Sans is the preferred professional font

      • +1

        You spelt cheep wrong

  • Bought one, thanks Op. I guess Dell won’t honour it. Let’s see, hope I’m wrong.

  • -5

Got charged now via Paypal and received confirmation email from DELL

    • Proof?

    • actually gone through or just confirmed that it will eventually go through?

    • +2

Sorry was Order received email. my bad

  • oh dang, missed out

  • Managed to get one. Thanks OP!

  • +1

They just fixed as I was adding to my cart …

  • +1

Is everyone else's order page empty when you check?

    https://www.dell.com/myaccount/en-au/home/orders

    • Yeap. Says cant find order it.

    • Yes

    • Yep, didn't even get an email for it

    • +3

There was about a 10 minute delay from when I put the order through to when it appeared.

That being said my order is showing as 'received' - but not yet confirmed.

I wouldn't stress, I imagine this is a pricing error and the orders will be cancelled. No charge has hit my card yet.

    • My order is listed 🤞

    • Mine is still showing on there.

  • +1

Got order received email - but it's not confirmed.

    I suspect it'll get canned.

  • +2

…. This must be the best mistake deal of 2022

  • Monitor's back to $2500 now lol. GL everyone

  • OZBARGAIN'D.
Payment declined, had one in my cart trying to enter details and it got taken down.

  • +3

so now we know what time dell warehouse is open

    • 🤣

  • They took my money but says payment declined

  • +1

I received an order acknowledgement email just now but it says I should receive an order confirmation soon. Doubt lol

  • +2
  • Bought one and said order completed but no confirmation email :(

    • +1

it should come thru, took about 10 minutes for me

      • Just got the email. Ure a legend hahaha

      • I ordered at 8.33, no confirmation email.

    • Mine went straight to my deleted folder for some reason. Check there and your junk folder

  • +10

Got an email saying order received. All the best guys! We should do this group activity often. Creates an unusual bond with complete unknown strangers.

    • +4

      Love you bro!

    • We all did. Considering they took it down and blocked checkouts for the entire site, we 0.1 chance ;)

    • Its been emotional

  • +16
  • -5

I placed two orders, second order has no confirmation email :(

  • Doh, had it in the cart but payment didn't go through.

  • +8

Some poor intern is crying into their coffee right now.

    • +9
      • Blames Dell keyboard…
    • Like they care

  • If you click the link here it says no longer available but still shows for $249 on the site itself. When you add to cart though it corrects the price to $2499. Can't see them honouring any of the orders tbh.

  • +5

Missed out! Hopefully everyone who got through, gets it!

  • +5

has anyone received their monitors yet ?

    • +2

      not so fast mate.

      • +10

Elon. Buy dell and honour this

        • +4

          Buy Ozbargain

    • +8

I don't have any emails, there's no order in my account, my credit card hasn't been charged. But I'm driving into to the Dell warehouse to demand my screen right now.

    • Maybe if you work in Dell warehouse ;)

  • +8

This is the 1 year of free Kayo all over again

    • Legendary

    • I actually still have my Kayo and Binge active. Were they cancelled for folks?

      • Yeah, I got the Kayo one in time and it's still working, but the Binge one I missed by a couple of minutes back then.

  • I'm supposed to be WFH today, have to stop clicking refresh on the dell order page to see if it goes to "confirmed" :)

  • +1

Damn. Missed out. That'll teach me for getting Subway on the way to work.

    • Don't stress mate - there is no single chance Dell will honour 10000 orders with - 90% of RRP

      • At least the Subway was good.

  • Dam I snooze I loose as usual.

    • You got more sleep. I spent 10 minutes and will probably only get a email from Dell saying they won't honour it.

  • In true ozbargain fashion, has anyone managed to negotiate for a better price with dell live support?

    • +3

I got them to knock the one cent off down to $249.00

  • +1

Heavily discounted Alienware AW2720HF also just reverted to normal price.

  • -55

FYI, called Dell whilst the price was $249 to try my luck over the phone.
Everyone that has ordered one for that price will be refunded shortly.

    • +2

why did you have to ruin everyone's party?

    • No one has got charged

    • +5

Why did you call them ya Donkey, now they know about it…

    • +6

      Snitches get stitches.

    • +3

      That was very stupid.

    • +3

This was a very unpopular course of action to take…

      • -23

        Let me elaborate further.
As soon as I mentioned an Alienware monitor on sale, they knew immediately what I was referring to and said there was a pricing error.
I didn't snitch on anyone lol.
They were in the process of correcting the price on the website and were experiencing difficulties in doing so.

        • +15

Nah mate, no excuses with this one. Why you felt the need to even call is beyond me.

        • +9

          ban

        • +4

Why would you even call though?
It's clear you can order it through the website for the stated price.Absolutely nothing good could come from calling. If you are unsure about it or don't want to take the risk (even though there is zero risk as you either get the monitor OR get a refund in full anyway) then just don't order it..

          • @AmperSand: Lol did this person get auto disabled cos of too many negative votes? 😆

    • Did you really? Oh man I hope you're trolling. lol

    • +3

This is the guy who ruins it for everyone.

Rule 1 of ozbargain. NEVER CALL THEM

    • Rule no 1 on OzB, if it’s a pricing error, we need to 🤫

    • -14

      Let me elaborate further.

        The 1st rule of OzB:
Never call the seller on any OzB too good to be true bargain.

        The 2nd rule of OzB:
Never call the seller on any OzB too good to be true bargain.

        The 3rd rule of OzB:
Never call the seller on any OzB too good to be true bargain.

    • there's always 1 person who ruin the party

    • you are really uncool, snitched us hard..

    • +2

      LMAO negged into DisabledUser xD

    • +1

FYI, called Dell whilst the price was $249 to try my luck over the phone.

      WTF !!!

why did you have to ruin everyone's orders?

      • He must be the guy who keyed in $249 for this monitor. To save his ass?

  • Got an order received email but there are no pending charges on my card. Fingers crossed though.

  • +4

Man, OP should just not post these deals for a better chance of their order at least being honoured.

  • Madness !!!

  • +4

Can you imagine if Dell honoured these orders, how many would be on Marketplace for $2K "brand new, unused monitor" LoL

    • That happened with the $2 Castrol Edge a while back. Flooded marketplace and gumtree for a while after.

    • +1

      I'm not greedy, I would've sold mine for $1500…but I didn't get to order one :(

      • I'm less greedy than you. Happy to sell at $1499.99 :D

    • +3

      "unwanted gift"

      • +2

        “Hi, What’s your lowest thanks”

        • "would you swap for a '99 AU Falcon, needs some work but recently serviced"

        • $999.

  • -1

Anyone have a photo of the price? Can use price protection

    • Yep, how can a noob like me send it to you?

    • You might as well use inspect element and manually change the site.

      • +1

Haha that's fraud. At least this has metadata 🤣

    • +1

You, my friend could be one of the few to actually get the real bargain.

    • Which credit card has that??

      • Plenty of them do. I think most platinum cards have such a feature. Whether they honour this is a different question as it's clearly a mistake

  • I just got charged 3k instead of the other price, my email says 3k too. I took a screenshot of the cart and completed order at the discounted price.

Should I contact them immediately or later to raise an issue with this?

    I paid via PayPal.

    • +30

Looks like you'll be the only one who gets the item.

      Enjoy your new screen!

      • I'm hoping for the agreed price! 😂

    • +2

Cancel the order asap, they're doing what we did to them!!

    • +3

      Get you lawyer prepared.

      • Do you think it would actually come to that?

        • +2

Legal action is the new ozbargain way

    • +2

Did you receive an email from paypal like this:
"You've submitted an order in the amount of $249.01 AUD to Dell Australia"
If you have only authorized $249.01, there is no way they can charge you $3000.

      • Nah, he's just high. I mean, snoopydoop is HIGH.

      • No, so all email correspondence claims the price of ~3k

However, at no point during checkout did it say anything other than the cheaper price, both at checkout and the order confirmed screen, which I still have up.

So the screenshots are the only evidence I have, everything on their side and paypal's side sent via email claims full price.

Not sure what I should do here.

        • likely they had updated the price already and your browser was serving you a cached version.

          • @thedean: I was on "shipping" page, and it had already reset over on the product page. It then refreshed to the confirm order page, where it asked to confirm all the details (completely new page), I then checked details and confirmed order.

Now, even the completed order page after hitting checkout says the reduced price, but all email correspondence says the higher price. Very odd that their successful order page says the reduced price too. It was only when I checked my bank account that I was informed of the higher price.

    • I just got charged 3k instead of the other price, my email says 3k too

Why you didn't check the final price before click complete order

      • The final price said 249. I triple checked, and have screenshots.

There was no point during the entire checkout process that it mentioned the higher price, including the successful order page.

The only thing I don't have a screenshot of is the PayPal authorisation page for the 249.

  • Did anyone print a PDF of the deal off by any chance before Dell took it down? Google Cached version is full price and there is no recent capture on archive.org. Tempted to buy it at full price and then do a price protection claim with GO Mastercard… 😂 Doubt they would honour it though.

  • +3

Come on Dell, if Lenovo could, you can do much better.

    Ordered 1, fingers crossed.

  • Be amazing if they honour it, they'll have many happy customers that's for sure and if they do, be interesting to see how many flood the seconds market

  • +1

Damn… miss out. How did OP find out about the deal is the real question..

    • +3

How did OP find out about the deal is the real question..

      True ozbargainer.

  • Post your ORDER RECIEVED email time and ORDER CONFIRMED email time here:

Lets see if any have actually received the confirmed email….

    • +1

I've got the 'Your Dell Order Has Been Received ' email from them

    • I got order received email from Dell and payment from paypal

      • +2

The PayPal payment is just a pre-auth. Standard stuff, check your bank and you will see it's likely just a 0 dollar charge pending against your account. Payment itself happens when they process the order (which they almost certainly will not) not when they receive it.

  • Takes me to a page to select the warranty and the price reverts to 2499. Damn!

  • +1

Not a chance Dell will honour this.

    • +4

Someones says that on every honoured deal.

      • +2

        Yes like the Lenovo deal

  • +1

Damn why do I always miss the best deals for stuff I actually could use.

  • +12

Now remember if this is a price error and they cancel there's nothing the ACCC or Fair Trade can do it about it. Completely legal to cancel due to price errors.

    • +5

Don’t let logic stop me from getting my monitor

    • +2

Indeed. Specifically mentions pricing errors in their terms of sale.

  • I have to laugh at the "hope Dell honour it" comments. The deal has over 15,000 clicks.

  • +37

In the likely event that we get refunded and don't receive the monitors…
Just putting this here before people start complaining that they need to honor the price
    ACC price display rules
the important line of text here being:
the business has to fix the display or sell you the item for the lowest price.

In this case….they have fixed the "display". so based on ACCC rules, they have valid grounds to not honor the pricing error.

HOWEVER….some businesses in the past have honored pricing errors, usually comes down to them deciding if it's worth taking the hit or not.

So….lets just see if they are willing to take the hit, for the people that decided to buy 50…..unfortunately i don't think they will be willing to take the hit.

I'm keeping a close eye on my emails today, but it's not going to surprise me if they decline the orders.

Regardless, good job OP, you truly gave my friday a kickstart.

    • +18

I still don't get the people downvoting this….i'm not doing anything wrong, i'm just being realistic, and giving you info from the ACCC

I definitely hope we get the monitors, but if you dont, don't be surprised.

      • +3

In some cases, people hate being realistic. This is one of them.

    • +3

Agreed, no need to downvote the comment as it's providing actual useful information.

The same ruling applies to pricing errors in a physical store. If a displayed price is lower than the expected correct price the store cannot choose to charge you the higher price. They have to decide to either let you have it at the lower displayed price or they can 'remove it from sale', which basically means they won't let you have it at all. A lot of businesses will often let you have the first one at the lower price, then promptly change the displayed price and charge the higher one from there on, but I have had some places say they won't sell it to me due to a pricing error.

  • +8

Threads like this and the comments are why I love this site and am happy to pay for the premium membership.

    • It's actually great fun for a Friday for an office worker like me.

How do you get premium ozbargain membership??? Never knew about this

      • +4

How do you get premium ozbargain membership

Scotty holds a lottery every two years. Only gives out 50 memberships at a time.

        • whats premium membership have that standard doesnt?

          • @Carbon Door: … it's a secret, like Fight Club.

          • +2

@Carbon Door: Premium members will gain access to deals, like this one, 30 mins earlier than standard.

      • +2

It's very underground. I could have mine revoked for bringing it up.

    • +4

First rule of Ozbargain Premium is don't talk about Ozbargain Premium.

  • +3

Managed to get an order in at 09:36 Brisbane time, not expecting it to be honoured but just wanted to be apart of dissapointment

  • +3

Why should dell spend millions on advertising and PR when they could take a loss on a few monitors and gain some good grace with the OzBargain community?

Seems like a no brainer to me

    • +1

say 10% of the clicks through to the website bought a monitor. There have been 17,000 clicks so far, but the deal died a while back, so lets say 12,000. 10% of those people bought only one monitor, so there were 1,200 purchases processed.

RRP is $2,500, so Dell are discounting each monitor here by $2,250

1200 x 2250 = $2,700,000 worth of good grace with the Ozbargain community.

  • +3

I suspect dell would be foolish just to cancel all of these straight away and lose potential customers.
A smart sales manager would apologise and offer a coupon or discounted price to buy the monitor in an effort to convert some cancellations into real orders rather than piss a whole bunch of people off.

I suspect that's probably the conversation that's going on right now. Given Dell doesn't charge until shipping, cancelling these orders has little financial cost to them.

    • +27

      Here's how the conversation goes

"Should we lose millions in sales loss, labour to pack, shipping costs and future warranty return costs for a bunch of tight arses who have spent the past 20 years telling their families that Dell computers are overpriced and it's cheaper to build your own PC through parts at MSY, and who will never visit our site again unless we make another pricing error?"

      "No, no we shouldn't"

      • +1

You're missing the point entirely my friend.
I'm not saying they would honor the price, I'm saying they would be assessing the opportunity cost of sending a coupon and making some profit, or offering some discount exclusively and still making profit.

At no point did I suggest they would honor the price.

        • +2

          Heres your $5 coupon

          • +1

@superdoedoe: My account is actually set up or order laptops / monitors for my work staff, which I forgot about.
Any time there has been delays on orders or changes, Dell has been very generous and offered between $50 - $100 vouchers.

Not sure if normal consumers get that though

    • +1

They've got hundreds (thousands?) of us watching our emails like Hawks, it'd be a waste to just cancel.
Something like a $1k off voucher would still offer 'a deal' to those who genuinely want it while weeding out all the lowballers (myself included) who would never buy at a price that's profitable for them

      • a $1k voucher lol

        • Specifically for this monitor, whatever gets it down to the regular sale price of 1500

  • +1

My order of 2 now shows an order history of 1 unit but at the $499 price. No idea what's going on there

    • I have the same

    • Mine has that as well, maybe they'll offer us 1 for $499 😅

      • +4

I'd still take it for $499 tbh.

    • +1

Go to "download pricing and payment details" and you will see the proper order on that file.
      Make sure you download it.

      • -1

Looks like it's no different to the attachment that came with the confirmation email

      • Have it now, and shows correct order details - thanks!

    • but our email confirmation says 2

      • Below is what the downloaded file pretty much shows.

        Pricing Summary
        Qty Unit Price Total
        1. Dell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DW
        2 units at $226.36 = $452.73
        Subtotal: $452.73
        GST 10%: $45.27
        Total (AUD): $498.00

      • Yes, I received an email with no confirmation yet.

    • +1

It literally says "received" not "confirmed"

      • -4

I am sure it will be confirmed soon, waiting is key.

    • when did you order? I ordered at 8.27am and no confirmation yet :(

              • @AmperSand: Yes, should have posted a new screenshot to acknowledge your humour :)

                • @d86: Oh, that definately wasn't the one advertised here!

      • nope, an actual confirmation email. also a confirmation on his order page.

        • Thats good news, yet to show up on mine

    • how many was in his order?

    • +11

      he has fooled me.

      i have truely been ozbargained.

    • At what time did he order

  • Just noticed a 10% Dell cashback deal on my AMEX too

  • Price went back to $1749.30

  • -44

Damn, missed out. Hope everyone’s order get cancelled so that I don’t feel bad about missing out on this deal 😈

  • How long does it usually take for Dell to confirm orders? I'm surprised nobody has been canceled yet

    • +3

Last time I ordered something.. It was within the first 30 minutes

      • +8

Take a bit of time to draft up an email to state it's a pricing error before they cancel. :P

        • +6

Im hoping for a voucher for the inconvenience..

          • +5

            @bart2: $10 voucher, min $2,000 spend.
Oh. hang on. This is not eBay

          • @bart2: A voucher of $2250 in value, please

        • +1

haha true, I'm just here refreshing the order page & checking my emails every 5 minutes atm..
          I can only hope

    • +2

It took 24 hours for me to get the confirmation email when I bought a monitor about a month ago

  • +2

I have no doubt that this is going to be a successful product, but the issue here is really the likelyhood of price error, so for those reasons I’m out.

    • +22

With the deal being over like an hour ago.. Not sure there were many other choices other than to be "out"?

      • How do you even know he doesn't have a time machine?

        • +2

Wouldn't he have been able to post this at the start of the thread then?

    • +1

i'll give mick dell a bell and let him know, thanks for the heads up

    • I’d like to offer $99 for 100% of the product

    • +2

This is OzBargain, not Shark Tank

  • +3

    Estimated arrival 19/09.. Fingers crossed!

    • What time was your order placed?

      • Around 7.30am. Not celebrating quite yet though because @Alyaeri below could be right

        • +1

True. Have there been any legit confirmations yet? (with some form of evidence to go along with the claim)

    • +3

You get an estimated arrival date as soon as the order is received, unfortunately I don't think this incidates it's been confirmed yet.

  • How does dell so frequently have pricing errors?
Is it just a sales tactic to drum up product views before they blame it on some "intern".

  • +1

this could literally make my weekend turns bad or happy

    • +10

If it makes your weekend bad, then youre doing it wrong.

    • You can always go to the dynamic island and chill out

  • -6

    Order confirmation received.

    Thanks OP

    • confirmation of order recieved or an ACTUAL confirmation of the order?

      • Confirmation of order. Step 2 of 5.

I don't understand all the hate on here.

Also just checking the order it now says quantity of 1 at $498 rather than 2 @ $249

        Not a good sign.

    • +1

be careful. your friend may be lying.

      • +2

You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

        • Noooo
          Neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Why on earth would they do that?!
You can't lie on the internet!

    • -2

Order confirmed is nothing. I have already have my 10 monitors delivered to me this morning ;p

  • +2

Order confirmation is nothing. Wait until it actually ships and then celebrate.

    • +13

Ships is nothing. Wait until its actually on your desk and plugged in.

      • +3

On your desk and plugged in is nothing, wait until it actually turns on and it's not faulty.

        • +1

Wait until you plug in your PC / laptop and the video shows up

          • +2

@delirium211: Video showing up is nothing. Wait until the warranty period expires.

            • @DustyAfternoon: Wait until the warranty period expires and then it dies. What am I celebrating then?

        • +4

Turns on and not faulty is nothing, wait til you browse ozb on your new monitor to confirm you’ve received the confirmation email and the shipping email and that you’ve successfully unpacked it and plugged it in to power and that it’s not faulty.

          • @Replicant: Waiting until the confirmation email and the shipping email and that you’ve successfully unpacked it and plugged it in to power and that it’s not faulty is nothing. Wait until you're old and becoming senile and you remember receiving the monitor and setting it up and enjoying 7 years of use.

  • +2

Bought one but order hasn't been confirmed yet, they haven't charged my CC either. Likely will get cancelled, oh well.

  • +11

Their site held up exceptionally well to the OzBargain load. i'm impressed.

    • I mean, it's Dell.

      • It's Dell, dude!

    • Yes it was amazingly snappy at all times throughout multiple orders

I wonder what kind of scalable architecture they have and burst capacity etc.

      • They make their own servers, duh

  • +38

Maybe the real discount is the friends we made along the way

  • LoL

    Funniest start to my day

  • +4

    There's a deal now for $1,749.30.
I suspect they will cancel the orders and tell everyone they've dropped the price if they still wanted to buy it.

    Oh well.

  • Interestingly, if you sort the monitors on Dell's site by "Lowest Price", it's the first hit even though it should be much further down the list

  • -3

Any legal professionals here that find a loophole in their price match T&C's?
    https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/lp/price-match-guarantee-anz

If you find a lower-price advertised on the internet for an identical Dell branded electronic product or an equivalent (as determined by Dell) Dell, HP or Lenovo computer, Dell will match that price. Call or Chat online with a Dell Expert and we'll walk you through the process.

    • +26

Legal professionals would just work normally and buy this monitor at the proper price.

      • +1

any legal professionals in da house

        • +4

          Only ozlegal

    • The T&C's that refer to price errors would be what come into effect here. I don't see them ever having to price match themselves?

      • -1

Sometimes, bait and switch = 'price errors'

Advertise product as $249, get heaps of traffic & order. Claim 'price error' and offer a measly discount on said item's original retail price for those baited.

        • Offer restrictions
Dell’s Price guarantee applies for 30 days from invoice date to purchases from Dell or Dell.com.au only. Lower price must be for identical product & configuration on Dell.com.au. • I selected Google Pay and then my order received email had instructions to pay via EFT and send an email to [email protected]. I paid their bank account and sent them an email, did I make a mistake?

    • +18

yeah, get a debit card or paypal account like a normal person.

      • I selected Google Pay with my debit card so no idea why they had those instructions in the email. Figured I'd have less chance of it getting cancelled but we'll see

    • +2

I wouldnt worry. My paypal order had the same. Think it's just a default msg

    • You are going to get charged again if your order is successful assuming the payment type on your order is google pay.

    • Lol maybe it will be honoured, because they didn’t take money money

  • +5

It'll be seriously " The deal of the Year" if Dell honor even 1 Monitor per customer. However for price tag $2k I'd expect USB-C display. I know there is cable/adapters for usb-c to dispaly port or HDMI, but direct USB-C monitors looks cool.

    • +2

yes wait till all we get the monitors and then we all arrange one day to send them email at the same time complaining about its not usb c give us partial refund

    • Sure but why would Dell lose all that money (these are well below cost). It’s not like 10,000 people will never buy a Dell monitor again because of a clear pricing mistake.

  • +1

My delivery status has that the quantity is now 1 (ordered two) @ $498. (But if I download the pricing and payment details it still has 2)
And on the side it has:
    Other Order Details
    Quote:-1
    Shipping Code: ES

Still, $500 is a decent price for the 1

    • +1

interesting same here - my email from them says 2 however.

      • Same

    • I ordered one and order details one $249, may be they only honor one per customer?

    • +1

-1, so you owe dell a monitor?

      • I got some nice Dell ones here at work that I am pretty sure the company bought just after CRTs went away. They are welcome to them!

  • +8

Just received an odd looking email that they obviously cooked up on the fly:

"Thanks for shopping with Dell. The item that you ordered was unfortunately priced incorrectly on our site, and we usually would not have the means to honour the order you placed. However, as a token of appreciation for shopping with us all orders placed for a Quantity of maximum 'ONE' Alienware Monitor will be confirmed shortly. If your order contained more than 'ONE' quantity of the item, you will receive a refund in the coming days and a confirmation email outlining cancellation. We hope to see you again soon."

    • when did you buy?

    • +2

      'ONE' is fair enough

    • Hang on, what!? They are going to honour it?

    • +9

      Source: Trust me bro

    • good news?

    • Fingers crossed!

    • +6

Holy crap is this real? That'd be hilarious if so haha

About to set up my Dell shrine and worship it every day at 9AM.

    • +22

100% bet this is a prank. post proof

    • +1

      Haha nice try

    • perfect, I ordered one, best purchase ever if they ship it

    • I need proof before I believe this..
Don't give me false hope x(

    • +6

      Troll Level: Ludicrous

    • what refund, they never charged lol

    • I don't believe this but if it were true, I'd still be nervous since I purchased both this one and another monitor in a separate orders.

    • +1

      Seems legit

      • +4

Yep. As legit as my 10 incher.

    • +8

Correction: you cooked it up on the fly

    • +2

What’s weird to me is that you have the free time to write this load of bullshit up.

    • "honour"

    • +15

      Got a similar email

      Dear valued customer, get (profanity)
      -Dell Australia

    • May be it is real because some order more than one and only got one in their final order details

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12679459/redir

      • +2

It’s obviously fake. Jesus some people are friggan gullible.

    • +7

      I got a similar one..

Dear Customer, Thank you for shopping at Dell. I am pleased to inform you "poopoo peepee".

      Kind regards
      Dell Customer Service Team

      • +3

i'm in my 30's….saying poopoo and pee pee still makes me laugh hysterically.

        • +3

I turned 40 this year. I giggled while I typed it.

    • +2

      Different to the email I got;

      Dear Pharcyde,

      Space Jam 2 was mid.

      Regards, Dell Australia

    • Don't believe it but would be absolute karma for multi unit buyers trying to resell.

    • I think everyone here is going to want to see a screenshot to prove this, unless other people got it too?

  • +1

    Mine is now confirmed.

    I ended up getting two.

    Delivery 19th

    • +2

      Proof?

    • Screenshot?

    • What time did you place your order, if I may ask?

      • You just did, ask

    • Did you actually order 10 and get refunded 8? Or fulfilled 2 and in the queue for 8?

    • What time did you order ?

    • Lol, which is the more surprising… Getting 2x price error delivered, or that Dell monitor delivery is so efficient!! 1 working day, not even that!

    • Yeh and i’m secretly batman!

  • +4

Hey guys my uncle works at Dell and said it’s true 😂

    • +5

Hey guys my aunt works at Dell and said it’s not true 😂

      • +3

Hey guys my 3 yo son works at Dell and said it’s unclear 😂

    • What's true?

Is it because no one would buy one at $2k and buy OLED instead?

    • +2

your uncle name is Roger ?

      • +1

        Ramjet?

    • +1

      Hey guys,

My mum is Adele and said it's true.

  • +14

Hey guys just became the Dell CEO and I'll honor all the orders 😌

    • +2

      elon is that you?

      • elon is that you?

Elon appointed new CEO may be

  • +1

I’m going to be real salty if i missed out on the deal of the year because i was sleeping! 😅😅😅

  • Wow.

  • +21

Good lord there are some proper stingy scabs out here, especially those looking for legal loopholes, like how desperate are you?

If it's a pricing error and you get refunded, then it is what it is, stuff ups happen. And those carrying on about bait and switch, like, ain't nobody buy anything from Dell to begin with, WTF are they baiting and switching? LOL

    • +12

It’s called entitlement. People talking about their weekends being ruined. 🤦‍♀️

    • +2

You must be new to ozbargain?

    • The bait and switch argument is dumb.
Imagine how much bad blood that creates for your prospective clients. Never will they trust a deal you put up again at face value and would be very hesitant to use you as their first choice of vendor again. If they were legit doing a bait and switch as a means of gaining prospective customers the negative impact of such an action would heavily outweigh the positive.

    • Nope, you won't get refund, because Dell hasn't charged the card yet. :)

      • Even more reason to not be upset

      • PayPal

    • +1

Tbh I'm just here to order and have fun with the ozbarg crew - this is great

  • +1

Congrats to everyone that managed to order this is a banger of a gaming monitor
Hope they actually ship might get some good second hand deals pop up afterwards

  • +18

Anyone else not working and refreshing this thread?

    • +3

100% haha. Waiting for my 1 to get confirmed

      • What a nice treat that would be. Fingers crossed just like everyone else

    • Guilty aye

  • +3

Don't do that, don't give me hope.

  • -7

Anyone ordered extra and dont need it. Pm me. Lol..late to the party. Need one to wfh.

  • +6

Seriously. Who in their right mind actually thinks they’ll honour this? It’s clearly a pricing error and the T&Cs state they don’t have to honour it and they won’t.

Dell won’t lose hundreds of thousands of revenue.

    • +2

Theyve honoured crazy price errors in the past. Hard drives and printers comes to mind from years ago

      • +2

        Were they worth $2499?

        • +1

          Now price is $1,749.30

        • I did get the drone from bunnings worth around 2k.
Payed $289 or something like that

      • -1

Sure. But not a price error that’s costing them $1,500 per unit. For potentially 10,000 units given the click rate.

That’s a $15,000,000 loss. Even if it’s less and sure the RRP is BS, it’s still millions in revenue loss.

        • +5

          Mistakenly advertised monitors? $15,000,000

Earning the respect of OzBargain? Priceless

For everything else there is Mastercard

      • +1

When I ordered a monitor from Dell earlier this year, 5 minutes after the order received email, I received the order confirmed email.

I haven't received the order confirmed email, so I'm expecting this to be cancelled.

        • +1

Yeah I bought their 34" on the 5th of September and the confirmation email came 10 minutes after the received one.

        • Time vary for order confirmations, I got instant confirmation for a laptop bag, and 4 days for two S2721DGF during previous sale.

    • +1

although i agree that it's more likely that they won't honour it….i have seen in the past some businesses honour ridiculous value deals, and when those deals are purchased on such mass scale (like this one) they just claimed the hiccup on insurance, and insurance paid it out so they send everybody the product they purchased. Wonder if they will bother putting this in that category.

      • Yes, I see..
It appears you have taken out all of the extras on your insurance cover Dell, I see you have learnt from your past mistakes.
This claim comes under Section 4, part A - "Ozbargain indemnity cover". You are covered for upto $25,000,000 in losses, please proceed to confirm and ship orders. Your claim will be forwarded when all orders are finalized. Thank you and good day.

        • i have a friend that works in insurance, i'll get her to send them an email.

          Don't worry, i got this.

    • I'm telling Tracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Google says Dell does price errors all the time?

    • +2

Please post what Siri and Alexa said about it too.

  • Well done OP, great deal for anyone who manages to get it delivered.

  • +22

Just got off the phone with Dell Support, the agent assured me that Dell would be taking the $20,000,000.00 hit and are packaging up the 20,000 units for shipment now.

    • +1

      Hell yea!

    • +1

Did you talk to the CEO?

      • +6

i am the CEO. i can confirm we conversed.

        • +1

Sorry, how can you be the CEO when I am? Yes we spoke

          • @D3m3ntia: didnt realise i had 3 accounts

            its me micky dell

    • +1

Just got off the phone with Dell Support, the agent assured me that they would be nominating me to become the next CEO.

    • Source Tier? Copium

    • Thanks for confirming. I knew they would. But first hand, unbiased confirmation is always good to have.

  • +3

    hey guys,
i got confirmation for 25 of the 30 i ordered . i only need 15 so im happy to sell the rest at face value

    • Your generosity does not go unnoticed

      • in these tough times it is important we support eachother.

    • Ok do you take Western Union?

      • +1

my preference is itunes gift cards

      • Only iTunes cards.

    • +1

Hi guys, can confirm as I am his debt collector.

    • Who's face?

  • +1

It was a gamble I took with very low risk - wont be sad if it doesn't get honoured.

    • No, you didn't, as you money is still in your bank account:)

  • -3

To be fair, could possibly get honored… Dell is a big company not your local good guys or jb so they can afford to take a loss.

  • +43

    YEAHHHHH

    GOT FKING CONFIRMED GUY

    Proof: https://ibb.co/wzK59J1

    • +5

Mine shows delivered. Gonna do an unboxing video for you guys in a minute.

    • +1

      It's legit

    • Take the upvote you dirty (profanity) :P

    • +2

Hope some salty ozbargainer doesn't call Dell to cancel that order.

      • Oh they will call no doubt some idiot does it everytime

        • +2

Yeah. That's why the IRN should have been removed by the poster.

    • +2

      Haha !!

You win the internet for your Photoshop skills

    • +1

      SAME!
Woooo - widescreen Azeroth and Ozbargin here I come
      https://ibb.co/fMtyfN0

      • Please edit your date to today.

    • no profanity way LMFAOOOOO

    • +1

      Lol looks legit!

    • +1

      WOW

    • +1

Need to change received to confirmed and unbold the confirmed part underneath the progress bar. close though.

    • +2

      clean editing!

    • That's sooooo yesterday!

    • +5

You didn't edit the line above it.

      It says order received

      • +2

Lol. Forgot about it. Should've deleted it.

        • Haha.. This deal and the posts are making my Friday so fun

    • Click the IRN and show us if there is an order number assigned.

  • +4

Show’s over. Cost price changed to 0.00

  • 1 of my orders got confirmed, the others are still in the order received stage.

  • +10

Received mine and opened it. It's a bit big for my liking.
Might just use it as a big clock display for the garage.

    • +1

If you reconfig one of the power buttons to a sleep button you can use it as an alarm clock radio too

  • +1

So I got charged full price despite both the checkout page and confirmed order page stating $249. I have screenshots of both.

I paid via PayPal - for the highest chance of honouring the listing, should I write in to Dell or PayPal, and should I wait until the order has 'shipped' before contacting?

    • +3

I'd be contacting them pretty quickly, unless you are happy to pay $2499

      • +2

        Written into Dell now, thanks.

        • Hope it works out for you mate.

What an adventure this thing is

          • +1

            @Shaquille Oatmeal: Definitely!

It's currently "in production" so hoping it works out for me in some way rather than an outright cancel.

            • +3

@snoopydoop: That's pretty telling if they are putting full price orders into production but leaving the discounted orders sitting in waiting for confirmation….

              • @Azif: Yeah, it moved pretty quickly from confirmed to production too. Estimated shipping in a few days.

    • Show screen shots?

    • That is actually fraud when you have authorized payment for $249 yet they have taken full price without your consent.

      • +1

I suppose there's some argument that it's not intentional, as long as they happily rectify the situation. I just hope my screenshots are taken as enough proof by either Dell, Paypal, or my bank. It's a shame all my emails list a different amount.

Surprised their confirmed page listed the reduced price yet the email said differently.

        • They'll just make you return the item back lol

  • +4

This has been so much fun guys, just saying. <3

    • +10

It'll be even more fun reading it again on a 38" Curved Gaming Monitor

  • missed

    • +1

      That’s enough mate

    • username checks out

    • +3

      Haha.. That's better.

Next Photoshop should be of you shaking the Aus Post guys hand as he hands you the box

      • If it's real, it will be much better. Haha. Time to replace my Xiaomi 34".

  • +18

Guys, my parcel came. The box is a little smaller than I thought… https://ibb.co/SsGCRR6

    • I lol'd

    • +1

      I came, too

  • Fingers crossed.

  • +4

Just got mine delivered by SpaceX to my address on 1 Mars Street, MILKY Way 0001, Earth Moon

Pretty decent bargain considering they used SpaceX for postage carrier

    Proof
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/98190/screenshot…

    • +1

Did they use Falcon 9 or Falcon Heavy

    • I tried that carrier too. Didn't follow through because it's only payment option was Doge.

      • I managed to use ShibaPay
        Elon Musk personally delivered it

  • +11
    • Wow, that was quick!!! Thanks for the confirmation.

    • Wow congrats, you pick it up or it's delivered in 3 hours?

      • That's lime xD

    • +2

      cap

  • I ordered 2, but they canceled 1 and left the price at $249.01 * 2 = $498. WTF?!

    Anyone else with similar issues?

    • Have you got any notification from Dell? Can I ask How you know your order got cancelled?

      • Yes the email receipt says 2 for $498 (already charged to PayPal), while the website order says quantity of 1. I am wondering if they are maybe intending to honour quantities of 1. Possibly my second item will resolve on the order after a refund to PayPal at some point.

        • Thank you for your kind explanation. I ordered 2 but disaplayed as 1, too. I don’t know what’s going on.

          • @eauvert: Ahh. I wouldn't worry. I am hoping that one will be shipped. Then I will contact them about the over-charge. They'll either refund that second amount, or possibly just ship out a second one according to whatever damage-control policy they've struck today.

            • +1

              @dullbeard: You’re right. Fingers crossed! Thanks again😉

              • @eauvert: Also just btw, apparently there's been no actual charge to PayPal yet. PayPal transaction detail says "Your payment method will be charged when Dell Australia completes your order." I had thought that if it showed up at all then the charge was made.

    • +1

still cheaper than most 38 inch ultrawides with high refresh rates and is IPS

  • -16

I just spoke to support about another monitor and they said

Apologies for the inconvenience caused XXXX. Our website had a pricing error in the morning and displayed incorrect prices . Issue has been sorted now

    • +8

What do people not understand about not contacting the company

      • Because burying your head in the sand solves everything, right?

        • +17

Low level workers that ship stuff out don't really care too much when recieving orders. They just get an order, confirm, pack and ship.
Alert sales to what is going on though - which will impact their commission, then yes, you have yourselves a big problem.

If you don't contact them, there is more of a chance of orders progressing and being shipped before the error is noticed. The earlier somebody contacts them the sooner they are aware of the problem and IMMEDIATELY stop all orders from progressing.

So it's not burying your head in the sand. It's more remaining stealth until you've been found out.

          • +10

            @AmperSand: I concur with this.
Using Dell for work, if the product is in stock they can be VERY efficient at dispatching orders within hours of it being ordered.

Understand a lot of people won't have this experience, but buying things full price when there is stock on hand (as opposed to the OzBargin process of mass buying discounted items) results in almost always a next day delivery to Melbourne from Sydney. Even ordering around 3pm.

However once a CSM is made aware of these, they will send an alert to the PM or Category Manager to put a STOP on all orders connected, and they won't make it down the automated chain (I also have worked in these teams).

Which is why we are very justified in being annoyed when someone calls up and asks about the low price. Customer Service officer will create a ticket, high priority, escalate to CSM, passed to Product or Category team, orders are stopped.

No one looks at order volume almost live, it would likely take them hours to see the high volume orders and find the price mistake all on their own. And by then there is the slight glimmer of hope that a few orders have followed their automated processes and been dispatched, which I doubt is the case here.

      • I contacted them over a different screen before I even saw this on Ozbargain, it was due to monitor being advertised at $209, but when I added it to the cart it was $540.

    • +7

You people are the worst what is wrong with you; stop contacting support agents

      • If you think that it's going to change anything, then you're severly mistaken!

      • I contacted them over a different screen before I even saw this on Ozbargain, it was due to a monitor being advertised at $209, but when I added it to the cart it was $540. Take a chill pill..

  • +11

Was honestly worth buying this morning for the comments

  • +8

just had a knock at the door and wouldnt u know it was old 'farmer' mick dell himself, oprah was with him, they said everyone's getting the monitors free due to our financial savvy and general good looks

    have a good wknd angels!

    • +1

Michael Dell ozbargained American Airlines with the AAirpass back in the day, so it’s only karma

  • +5

Customer support said the same director who honoured the $9 printer price error 10 years ago.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73273
Is honouring orders who only bought 1 monitor.

    • +1

I sure hope you are right.. Hopfully they'll send out an email soon

    • +1

Nah dont feed me hope. Its bad for me

    • +1

No way… This is the closest I would get to winning the lottery or something if they honour it

    • +2

Wow can't believe it's been 10 years. I was so excited by this that I still remember where I was at the time I ordered haha

      • +3

        OG bargainer spotted

    • +1

Lol customer support is giving details about directors now

    • +5

Legend says this chap is still waiting for their printer.

      • +2

@billybrown did you get your printer???

    • +1

Inkjets were basically Soda streams, no surprises there 😂 - probably helped them clear warehouse space

    • +2

1 printer is normal and dual monitors is normal too.

  • -5

Just received my order at noon and managed to sell it quickly to my lovely mother in law for $1000.
Should be able to buy myself a month of silence. LOL

    I wish.

  • +46

Dear Dell employee who has stumbled across this post,

Please honour the deal, even if it is just for one item per order. We will love you and continue to promote and push the Dell brand for years to come. Although this may seem like an expensive 'marketing campaign', it will have the best return on investment ever seen. It may even be in the running for the inaugural 'Oz Bargain Deal of the Year' award.

    Sincerely,
    The family at Oz Bargain.

    • Joke of the year!

      • +1

        JB HiFi agent says " Whaa~~t? R U OK"?

    • +5

I will start a religion called 'Dellism', and we will pray at the alter of the Alienware.

    • +30

Bull crap, OzBargain members are like cheap whores, they will jump into bed with another client if they are offered better deal elsewhere. We all here are lack of loyalty XD

      • +2

No. We are all loyal to bargains, true bargains, mate.

    • +2

I also take back everything bad I said about Adele.

      I love you long time.

      Sincerely,

      ChickenDinner123

  • So are orders being honoured?

I ordered one monitor at about 8:15am and have received nothing in my email, no money taken from bank account and nothing confirmed in my Dell account.

Its not the end of the world if I miss out, just wondering if I did anything wrong.

    • +1

A lot of us are in the same boat, still waiting

      • +1

Keeping my fingers crossed! Hope you get one too :)

    • -4

Yep, if you ordered less than 10 I think they are honoring them. People who ordered more than 10 have had their orders cancelled.

      • Ahh okay, thats nice to hear. Cheers!

        (P.s. Unlucky Brodens :P)

      • +2

        According to?

        • +2

          Trust me bro

  • +6

Hahaha no chance they are going to honour this!

Would love to punt 1k on a Sportsbet tab for Dell to end up cancelling all orders with an PR apology.

    • +4

so what? this was a gamble with zero risk….worst case they refund us

      • +2

They wont even take your money, there is nothing to refund until they ship. Its as easy as clicking cancel order for them

      • Would love to punt 1k on a Sportsbet tab

so what? this was a gamble with zero risk….worst case they refund us

1k at Sportsbet will be at risk but we don't

  • It’s coming 💦💦💦

    • You have confirmation?

      • Yes I have comformation

        • Everyone needs a little structure in their lives

      • He mentioned whats coming with symbol ;)

  • -33

I got worried about my order so I called Dell and asked if it would go through. The operator said she was surprised by the number of orders so quickly so I mentioned I saw it on a website. She put me on hold to speak to her manager then asked for the url. After waiting ages she mumbled something about obvious pricing error and people taking advantage of that. I think she was just relating whatever her boss said.
Anyway from what I could gather they'll be cancelling orders from a certain time period, when the deal went live I'm assuming. So that sucks!

    /s

    • +1

How dare you burst our bubble !

    • +10

That can't be wright. Cause I called earlier today and escalletd to th eCEO Dell and he personally todl me taht he owuld be honruging all 20000 orders as a tahnk you to OzB for choosing him.

      • I think my response was from Mr Dell himself. That guy likes to micro manage

    • Thanks for ruining it for all of us…

    • Snitch!

    • omaigod oh no you called Dell, why you called Dell, you are a bad bad person because a company like Dell are too incompetent to realised their own mistake that they have to rely on people calling them to honour an unreasonable deal…

      /s

in all seriousness though, attacking the people who actually called Dell wouldn't make any difference… no money had been taken yet so they will still would have caught up to this and process the refunds whether or not someone called after the listing was taken down…

otherwise, hopefully i receive it by 19th of September!

    • The fact that she asked for the website and if you did provide the original deal posting source…. We’re dead 💀

    • +5

Wait… did all the people voting neg on this really miss the /s?

I'd think it was just because they didn't think it was funny, but some of the replies…

      • Bit of both I'd say.
I would have skipped the /s but I didn't want to be shunned

    • The fool talks, and the wise man thinks.

    • +1

      r/wooosh

  • +1

Customer support told me they're waiting to hear back from their marketing team apparently lol.

    • +3

better hear back from their God………. this is way above human

  • +1

    I guess I snooze I lose… :(

  • +1

I'm feeling so miserably jealous now

    • +1

exactly. that fear of missing out feeling is so precious.

    • +36

You don’t have to miss out.

Send me $249.01. I’ll send you a confirmation email and a refund in 12 hours.

      • +2

        Lol made my day

      • +1

This reminds me of my armour being 'trimmed' on Runescape

  • -24

had a chat with the support… below update i have got…

Order : AU2008-1349-XXXXX is not confirmed and will not go through as there was a pricing error when you placed the order

    • +30

had a chat with the support… below update i have got…

ozbargainer rule "Don't chat with support for a price error deal"

      • +12

he joined 2015… he hasn't learnt yet? Ban him

        • +1

It should be in the website terms of agreement

        • Change his name from OzGainer to OzLoser

        • He's been actually banned now, lol.

    • Why would you even chat with support? Do you discuss all your orders with support? Just buy and forget like with any other purchase.

      • -1

Ok apologies if it’s a mistake to check with the support.. I wasn’t aware of it. Will learn from my mistakes…

  • +4

I accidentally ordered one on my work account (Dell partner here).

would they dare cancelling that lol

    • +4

      I'm in the same boat!!
Personally I think for us they will probably call us before cancelling.

Do you also get called from a new 'account manager' every few months saying they have taken over your account and if they can sell you anything?
      Gosh Dell are keen beans.

      • nah, I don't get much attention. maybe because I am still technically a dell reseller, I get listings and marketing materials dumped weekly in my mailbox (I route it straight to "WhoCares" folder)

    • +1

I got my moneys worth from Dell reps on a Europe trip, much food and drinks were consumed

    • Ditto

  • +13

    Here’s a main rule for y’all:

DON’T CALL THE CS TEAM FOR AN UPDATE 🤫

    • This isn't shrodinger's cat

    • +4

like they aren't reading this thread already

  • -1

I can confirm that I have spoken to Dell Customer Support, who are in the process of refunding a record number of refunds.

I can also confirm that my above statement is absolute rubbish, because I still have 0.00000034% chance that this may happen.

    • +4

Refund? No one ever got charged lol

    • who are in the process of refunding a record number of refunds.

No refund because nobody get charged yet.

      • PayPal would have been charged.

        • You won't be charged until Dell Australia processes your order. To see the full transaction details, log in to your PayPal account. Please remember, it may take a few moments for this transaction to appear. Thanks for using PayPal.

          • @Nathw: People posted this kind of comments because they missed the deal.

Anyway will see if we can get it or not, doesn't matter.

  • +39

It's probably all taking so long cause they are training up a new employee to replace the one that got fired this morning.

    • +14

How many people's lives has this site destroyed over the years?

      • +2

Enough to help build the setups of countless Ozbargainers

    • If, and its a BIG IF, they do honor this deal its a ~$2 million fark up, thats someones career over :D

      • They would have to sell 800+ monitors for it to each $2 million. Don't think so.

        • +2

21k clicks and over 600 upvotes. If people really did buy a couple to onsell, 800 doesn't seem too much of a stretch.

  • +1

Plot twist: the employee did it for Ozbargain so we could all grab a deal ;)

    • Plot twist,: the disgruntled soon to be ex-employee did this as a revenge against Dell.

  • +5

Dell shares have dropped by over 1.2% in the past day (thanks ozbargain)…that's over 300million$ taken off of their marketcap…..proof that they are honoring the deal.

  • +10

My dad who works at Nintendo said everyone who ordered a monitor will get one!

  • -10

i just contacted Dell customer support and i asked them about my order…

they said basically just wait and see if the orders cannot be fulfilled everyone will be getting a free upgrade to the OLED version…

    can everyone please neg me?

  • -13

Dell support said they have received over 12,000 orders for this monitor today.

They said they are waiting for a decision from management on what happens next.

The fact my order for two now shows as an order for 1 could be a good or bad thing.

    • +3

sorry you will be negged for contacting Dell Support

      • +5

I've run out of negs and so has most people. Count +s as negs for the rest of the day.

    • +1

Where did you speak to Dell Support?

I was incorrectly charged 3k and still haven't received a response, it said can take 1 business day. Is there a live chat or something?

      • How did you pay? Considering everyone else is saying Dell don't charge until they ship…

        • +1

Via PayPal. Mine says "in production", not shipped.
But all details list full price, it was only the checkout experience and confirmation screen that said the discounted price.

    • I hope you didn't contact them 🤣

  • +8

can the Dell CEO not take any bonus this year and honour this deal for us?

    • Hopefully they ship every last order out pronto… at RRP.

Because one price “mistake” calls for another

  • +6

    Just called my lawyer:

"I'm confident Dell will ship the monitors out"

    • +2

      Saul Goodman?

    • +1

      RHC Solicitors?

    • +5

some how I read this guy name "I Smell Pennis"

      • +5

        Username checks out.

  • +16

Gosh I need to stop refreshing this thread every 2 minutes.

    • +1

nah, keep going. OzBargainers, strong, together!

      • YIBAMBE YIBAMBE YIBAMBE YIBAMBE YIBAMBE

    • If you don't keep refreshing it, how else will you know about the collective butthurt when we all recieve our token cancellation emails?

  • +3

Looks like this will get dragged to next week

    • +3

likely…..this is likely a decision for higher management, from the tech businesses i've worked at, nobody like to make big decisions like this on a friday before they go away for the weekend. They'll probably give a response next week.

      • +4

Ohh, if they even need to consider this is good news.

  • Missed it. if it gets honoured easily deal of the year.

    • +4

Not a chance in hell my friend

    • +1

what about the daily free pizza hut pizzas?

  • -4

Finally confirmed ! Good luck guys!

    • +1

idk whether to believe this or not…..mmmmm

    • yeah, how about you show us what you have ordered?

    • +1

You better edit the date to today before you post.

    • ordered 15/9 and confirmed 15/9?

      • That's the date it shows on my order too. Sep 15th. I ordered it this morning to join the hope bandwagon.

        • Ah .. also 15/9 for me.

      • +1

i think it's US time on the servers because my order from this morning is also saying it's the 15th

        • +1

It's not US server, it would more likely be UTC time (which is what most servers store logs as).
before 10am is the day before.

    • +3

Signed up 15 mins ago just to troll

      • Why doesn't he have the L in the user name?

    • +6

      also confirmed
hopefully everyone else will get theirs too

      • What? you have purchased 231 units??!!!

      • Lol, 231. You planning on building a sphere out of all the monitors?

      • +3

        Lol nice inspect edit.
This is why we can't have nice things.

  • +5

I have this monitor and am very salty if you guys get it. It's a pretty stunning little screen.

    • +4

      we can only pray..
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen, but would be nice either way
At least this entire thread has been funny af

      • +1

I think I paid about $1600, so it will be the greatest of all time bargain.

        • even for $1600 (considering the price atm) thats rather decent!

          • @xRianax: It was probably worth the money. I don't mind the look of those 4k 32" monitors they have now though.

          • @xRianax: At $1600, I'd rather the AW3423DW though.

        • Will sell for $1600 if goes through

    • Do you get any eye strain? I have the 2018 version and get eye strain from it

      • Nah, nothing noticeable for me after about a year of use.

    • +1

      I have 2 x S3220DGF side by side.

I'm sure if the deal goes through it will go nicely somewhere too

      • If I saw this come up I would have happily bought a second one lol

    • stunning little screen.

      38" little screen?

      • thats what she said

      • Everyone uses 2 x 85'' now a days I think.

  • +6

If this actually goes through, I’m not even sure it will even fit on my desk lol

  • -6

If anyone eventually gets a few of these and has spare, PM me as I missed the deal

    • +2

If anyone gets these they are 100% going to sell at the highest pricce they can get lol.

      • Obviously I’d buy it from them haha

    • +2

I got 12… you can have 1 if you want

  • +4

Thats it, i am calling 911

  • +22

    Dear OzBargain community,

It's Micky Dell here. The man, the legend, the one and only person behind some of your favorite gaming/photography/fapping monitors.

This morning, whilst sipping my soy latte with two equals, I was informed by one of my directors that we had an "ordering incident" on our Australian website. As you know, I have a soft spot for Australia since it's where I once fell in love with Kimmy the Kangaroo during a holiday down under. I thought you could marry kangaroos in your lovely country, but apparently that's only legal in Tasmania and I was in Sydney at the time.

Anyway, I digress. After spitting out my half-finished coffee upon hearing this news, I immediately contacted my senior executives in Australia.

I want to ensure you all that we will be honoring all orders placed through our website. As a good will gesture for any grief we may have caused as you imaged yourself with 3 of these bad boys side by side but were worried about cancellations, we will also throw in a downloadable wallpaper for your new monitors. It features yours truly, on a sheep-skin rug, wearing an exquisite pair of leopard panties. FYI we will also sell these on our store starting next Monday.

I trust you will all enjoy your Alienunderwear monitors!

    Regards,

    Micky Dell

    • +3

      Thanks Micky

      • +1

No worries, I got ya fam.

    • Cool mate.

    • +2

      fapping monitors
imaged yourself with 3 of these bad boys side by side

Wow, Mr. Dell. You really do know everything.

  • +4

Placed mine very early on. No charge or hold has been placed on my CC (or if it had then it’s been removed). My receipt says $0 like others have said so I’d likely think if yours does too then you likely won’t even hear anything further from Dell. Just my guess.

    • +1

The value on the monitor says $0 but the order total is $249.01. PayPal says the payment is pending so haven’t been charged yet

      • Where are you talking about that says $0?

        • +1

My credit card has a pending charge of zero. CBA

        • +2

On the order received page, it says this:

Item Description ITEM NUMBER UNIT PRICE QUANTITY TOTAL PRICE
          Dell Alienware 38 Monitor - AW3821DW 210-AXN AUD 0.00 1 AUD 0.00
          Sub Total: AUD 226.37
          Estimated Tax AUD 22.64
          Order Total AUD 249.01
  • +5

weekend entertainment sorted - thanks Dell

    • Geez must be fun at your place.

  • +1

What a deal ….. as usual I missed it. Good luck to everyone who has ordered!

  • +7

Im surprised that there's still no info about this 8 hours after. I would've expected a cancelation email like 30 mins when they realized the price error

    • +2

Yea, honestly was expecting something within 1-2 hours about this

    • +7

Bad optics for them if they don't do the cancellation immediately. Now they have to come up with some weird gimicky PR angle/offer to placate the masses to avoid recieving huge amounts of negative feedback/reviews/ratings over something as simple as a price error because tour de force ala ozbargain strikes once again.

      • the longer it drags on the higher chance of getting something out of them imo :)

        • +2

IJUST WANT THE PRDOCUT I ORDERED AT THE PRICE THEY TODL ME

        • +2

Don't think it works that way

    • The only other ozbargain pricing mistake ive been in on took about this long for the cancellations to start rolling in. If we haven't heard by tomorrow morning, that will be surprising, and quite positive.

    • Maybe whoever is responsible for making a call on this has a day off.

  • I cant take this anymore

    • +2

I can see you have a Dell U30004 monitor, that's like a 300-inch screen. Why are you so anxious about this tiny 38-inch monitor?

      • Lol

  • +14

To the Dell people monitoring this. Noone expected a cancelation or refund. We all fully expect to receive at least 1 monitor each

    Coupla jokesters above, cancelation aha

  • +3

    21530 clicks

    • +4

      21531 actually

      • 21546 is the correct number

    • Clicks, not orders.
      Orders will be like 1000

      • Even 1k order will let them lose $500,000 over

  • +1

On "sale" now for $1749.30, I wonder if that was triple checked before releasing the price.

    • +1

Yep, been updated for about 6 and a half hours now. Yet no updates on placed orders at all and its nearly COB on a Friday!

  • +1

Anyone's order confrimation showing as monitor: $0 subtotal: $226.37 ?

    • Nope. Ordered 2. Confirmation showing as 1 for $498.

    • +2

Pretty sure that's the same for everyone chief (except if they ordered more than one, multiply by the amount)

    • Mine shows quantity, subtotal and final price accordingly though

  • Going to the shop at least to see how this monitor looks like. Just in case I won't get one that ordered.

  • The wave of backlash if they don't sort this out soon will be pretty full on…. appreciate it may have been an error, but keeping people hanging isn't fun, throw us a bone Dell! :)

  • +2

    hopefully we get 24901 clicks

    • on it

  • +1

Anyone else with an order notice the customer number is now "-1" ?

    • Yeah, it has actually been like that awhile, maybe since originally ordering? I'm not sure.

    • been like that since I bought it tbh

    • Has been since ordering

    • +1

Mine and I reckon its because of guest order
