  • Hey OP, is JR Pass Buy 1 get one free as per title?

    • +9

JR Pass will be 20% off! We'll be doing the deal drop on the final day of the sale (Fri 7 Oct). Very likely chance we'll reveal the code earlier on OzBargain the day before to give members an extra day to use :)

      • In Tokyo for one week in 2023. What's the best rail pass deal?

        • +9

Depends entirely on how much you’ll be using it, and where.

There’s a few calculators around but suss out your major trips eg Shinkansen and see how much they’ll be.
Prices on https://www.japan-guide.com/railpass/ are close enough to get an idea.

As an example, if you’re going Tokyo<>Osaka a return trip is pretty close to a 7 day JR Pass, so if you then need to add a N’EX in from Narita airport it’s worth it. Keep in mind that using it on day 1 arrival starts the 7 days so if just hanging around Tokyo to start with it may be worth paying cash then activating the JR pass later.

Also, if only staying around one region, most JR regions have their own smaller passes too, can be much better value than the full JR Pass.

          • @KablammoNick: I see Tokyo has many subways but they don't share any pass or card with JR system?

        • +8

If you're staying in Tokyo, JR Pass is very unlikely to be good value (unless maybe you're really interested in riding the bullet train).

        • +1

I did tokyo to Kyoto. Kyoto to Hiroshima return. Kyoto to Osaka.

And a JR pass was only marginally cheaper.

In Tokyo only, as others have said, a JR pass won’t do you much good.

I found trains in Tokyo to be almost inconvenient as there was at the time no common transport pass… perhaps things have changed?

          • @Eeples: That's odd. Apart my first time there which would've been '05, JR East (Tokyo) and Tokyo Metro accepted Suica. I'm sure it's been a good decade and a half since both main train/subway lines accepted Suica and maybe even Pasmo.

        • +1

Most of Tokyo is better accessed by the subway "Metro" system than the JR railway network and the Metro doesn't really support the JR Pass (two different organisations). JR passes will allow unlimited travel on JR (Japan Rail) networks only including most of the high speed "bullet trains" except the very fastest/top speed ones.
If you are wanting to get out of Tokyo on trips to Osaka, Kyoto or north into the alps or to other regions of Japan, then the JR pass is the way to go. Basically the cost of a return trip from Tokyo to Osaka is about the same price as a weekly JR Pass in price roughly (which is only sold outside of Japan for foreign tourists and you cannot buy within Japan itself).

@bchliu: There is also a Tokyo metro pass for $8/day, $12/2 days and $16/3 days on klook

            • @bluedufflecoat: Yeah.. That's worth it. Metro gets expensive when you start using it frequently. lol.

      • +5

        @BookWithKlook

How do I order a JR pass if I'm not travelling within the next 90 days? This image on the page suggests Klook supports it by not sending the order out until 75 days prior to departure, but all the instructions in the page still refers to a 90 day validity upon booking confirmation. Can't select a departure date more than 3 months out either.

        • +1

Thanks for flagging - we're definitely aware of this issue and are just currently gearing up our operations again for Japan & JR Passes.

Unfortunately JR pass orders with travel dates >90 days are not currently available on the website. We're looking to relaunch this functionality and have it live on our site by November.

There'll definitely be more promos and offers for Japan coming up in the next few months, so stay tuned.

          • +2

@BookWithKlook: In the same boat - trip in January so will be keen to see what special offers you have!

          • @BookWithKlook: That's a bit disappointing to hear as I was ready to jump on board and buy them straight away lol, wish I was traveling a month earlier. I'll keep my fingers crossed you guys run a similar or better promo in the future

          • @BookWithKlook: Regarding JR pass, do I just need to ACTIVATE within 90 days (1st day within 90 days) or end date of usage must fall within 90 days?

            • +1

              @evp: Hi evp,

              Great question.

Book on Klook > receive Exchange Order within 14 days delivery > go to Japan > go to a JR Office and exchange for the pass within 90 days from booking > activate your JR Pass within 30 days

              Hope that clears it!

              Klook Team

      • UPDATE

The deals page will be updated with the JR offers closer to the launch date (7 October)! Just a head's up, due to limited supply with operators adjusting to the market reopening - we've had to amend the promo so it is only available on 1 Pass per booking, Ordinary Car only. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

        • Does the required ID number need to be a passport number? I am still waiting for my renewal to arrive..
And, will you be releasing the code earlier for OzBargain as previously stated?
          Thanks

        • I was trying to redeem the promo code but it said the promo code wasn't currently supported?

          • @Saitake12: Hi Saitake12,

Please check the update to our post! Due to the massive surge in demand, we've temporarily paused the promo code from 9pm tonight (which was the OzBargain exclusive pre-launch leak) until our official launch of 9am tomorrow morning!

            Team Klook

  • Thanks op - off to Disneyland LA in December if no we have covid and get our passports in time. Unfortunately that’s a big If what are the T&c on this can you cancel and get a refund? Thanks

    • Pretty sure you can pay Klook a small fee for flexibility cancellation to get 60% cost back.

      • +1

Thanks. From what I can tell they give it all back if unused and you cancel - but want to confirm. Wouldn’t be worth risk as losing 40% would still mean throwing away around $500.

        • +2

          Hi Captain Hindsight,

Thanks for your questions. See our cancellation policy on this particular activity below (https://www.klook.com/en-AU/activity/4100-disneyland-park-di…):

Unutilized & unredeemed tickets are FULLY CANCELLABLE on Klook, either within 365 days of purchase date, or until ticket expiry date (mentioned on the ticket), whichever occurs first. Partially used or amended/exchanged tickets are fully non-refundable & non-cancellable

          Hope that helps!

          Team Klook

          • @BookWithKlook: Hi. Can't pick dates past end of 2022 for these disneyland tickets? I'm assuming they're fine to use as long as the ticket hasn't expired (also aware of the reservation system)

            • @niagrabargain: Thanks niagrabargain that's a really good question.

For multi-date tickets, it is indeed an 'open-dated' ticket and you can reserve any future date on Disney. We're also updating the messaging on the page to reflect this!

              Team Klook

          • @BookWithKlook: Thanks but not totally clear, your site says:

“Reservation is required for entry: After your booking, please go to the official reservation link to create an account and link your confirmation code on the voucher to your account before your visit. Check your visit date before purchasing, in case your desired date is fully reserved!”

If I do that is it redeemed, just need some clarity on what redeemed means?

            • +2

@Captain Hindsight: For you/others, as an FYI, Disney has implemented a reservation system since reopening after covid lockdowns where all people (including those with annual passes) need to reserve the date they want to go to the parks. Without a reservation you won’t be able to enter.

              Can check park availability here:
              https://disneyland.disney.go.com/experience-updates/park-res…

Generally speaking, if you are booking several days/weeks in advance you should be ok in obtaining the dates you want (obviously US Public holidays, Christmas etc. can be a bit harder).

Regarding the cancellation policy, I’d be interested to get the specifics from klook also, though I’d say once you have input the voucher code and selected your dates, then it would be considered ‘utilized’ though not yet ‘redeemed’ (hence no cancellations).

Disney via their site doesn’t allow refunds also, so if you don’t get a response from klook, best bet might to be:
              A) buy ticket and just don’t upload into app and select dates until 100% sure.
              B) get travel insurance with Covid cover.

              • +1

@loveyou3000: Thanks Captain Hindsight and loveyou3000 (do you want a job at Klook, lol?) :D

We are looking to make the wording on the page more clear. Once you go to the Disney website and make a reservation, that is considered "utilised" or "redeemed" so you cannot seek the Klook cancellation policy (i.e. free refund within 365 days or ticket expiry).

                • +1

                  @BookWithKlook: Hi all!

We have some good news! We've spoken to Disney and adjusted the policy to make it even more flexible for customers.

Ticket is fully refundable on Klook whether or not the customer has yet reserved via the Disneyland website ONLY IF:
                  (1) the cancellation is made three hundred sixty-five (365) days from and after the date that of purchase;
                  (2) the ticket has not exceeded the expiration date;
                  (3) the ticket has not been used in full or in part; and
                  (4) the ticket has not been modified or exchanged by the guest with Disney or another Disney Company.

                  Team Klook

                  • @BookWithKlook: Great news! Thanks for the update.

And thanks for the job offer; though I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be able to afford me ;)

  • Darn i thought was 80% off JR PASS!!!!

  • +8

    Hi all,

Been seeing a couple of questions on whether the deal for JR Pass is B1G1 or 80% off.

Just to clarify, JR Pass will be 20% off - as much as we love a good bargain, if we go any higher we'll probably go broke.

The JR Pass deal will officially drop next Fri 7th Oct, but high chance we'll share the code earlier here in the comment section, so keep your eyes peeled 👀

    From,
    Team Klook

    • Where should I be keeping an eye out for this? My family is traveling on Oct 25 so keen to order/make use of this code as early as possible to make sure they can arrive in time.

    • silly question but this JR pass deal will come active on 7th oct with a new code? so why put it in this post?

    • @BookWithKlook any chance of sharing the JR Pass code? :-)

      Team Klook

      • Going in November. Is it possible to make two separate bookings under the same account to get two JR passes?

        • Hi K-FleX

Unfortunately you'll only be able to use the promo code once per user account, which means you won't be able to apply the code to more than one booking. If you're travelling with a mate/partner/family member though, we encourage them to sign up or login to their own account to make their booking!

Just wondering is this like a groupon where I present a voucher to the actual vendor. If so is there anyway to see who the actual operators are to see reviews etc. I'm looking at the Vegas to Grand Canyon tour and wanted to get more info.

    • -4

      Hi ClintonL,

We're an online travel agency. We don't disclose the operator for privacy reasons (as we work with many) but we collect and show the reviews on our website.

      Hope that helps!

      Team Klook

    • I have been on 'a' Vegas <-> Grand Canyon tour,
and it was not bought through Klook.
( I got it, at Vegas itself, about 8 years ago. ).

Anyway, the tour was a really long day, from 7am - 10pm, just because of the distances covered.
Since the bus/van travels slower than a car, a 3-hour drive, becomes a 5-hour with breaks in between.

A good thing about the tour is, you will hear interesting stories and the guide can answer questions,
e.g when the tour goes to Hoover Dam.
However, these day-tours don't give more than 2-3 hours in the Grand Canyon,
because apparently it's beauty can be felt, if you go hiking into the canyon, etc…

But for a day-trip, of a few hours there, it's good for those that just want a glimpse of it.
Plus, my tour ensured we saw sunset at the Grand Canyon.

      • did you ask your dam tour guide where you could get some dam bait?

    • They are, you turn up and present a voucher to the actual vendor.

    • Also be careful. Sometimes the place to get the ticket isn't at the usual spot. So you may have to end up walking another 1km somewhere else.

Need to read the TC and reviews.

  • Is it possible to buy the youth version of the Eurail global pass? Looking at the website the only price I see is equivalent to that of the full adult fare.

    • Hi danbob176,

Yep you can! The youth package is cheaper - scroll down below the calendar + first/second class to see the list of pricing.

    • Can't see one here, but remember there is an Amex cashback offer on klook ($20 of $150 spend). I have looked in the past but I think it is usually hard to get deals on Tokyo Disneyland/Sea, although at least the parks themselves are cheaper then quite a few of the other Disney parks. Food was also not too bad either.

  • Any chance of a deal for Disneyland/Sea Japan?

    • Hi SydEP,

1 aud is 93 yen as of right now, that's pretty damn good. One time I went and the dollar dropped to about 70jpy to the dollar.

          • @klonky: 93 yen!

Wow, compared to most of the last few decades, that's a great deal for Aussies.

  • I arrive in Europe on my 28th birthday. If I buy the youth eurail can I simply activate it the day before when I'm 27 even though I won't be able to travel on that particular day? I know that it's valid for whatever age you are on the first day of travel so is there anything stopping me from doing that other than losing a day without using the pass?

  • What will the validity be on the Singapore Universal tickets?

  • Hey Klook, so only the above mentioned are discounted? Will there be other activities or destination not mentioned but also discounted? Eg malaysia

    • Hi runamuck,

We recommend to check back during the campaign launch, as there will be other deals featured on the page that may be relevant for you! https://www.klook.com/tetris/promo-bazaar/celebr8anz/. There will also be Spin the Wheel and Klook Coin with more generic discounts.

      Klook Team

  • Thanks OP! Just to clarify what is one discounted package per booking with the 80% off ones?

Say we have 2 people will the discount be applied to 2 people in one booking?

    • +1

      Hi alwayscheaper,

Thanks for the question. Only one guest/person/unit will get the 80% off discount with the code. If you have 2 people, only 1 person's ticket will get the discount. So you'll need to be quick and get your mate to redeem the other one!

      Klook Team

    • From my last Klook deal experience, my husband and I both open an account and each buy 1 discounted ticket! You cant buy 2 discounted tix in 1 account.

  • any discounts on hotels in Syd

    • Hi ozbargainerlife1!
