Only if you were planning on buying the other Google nest stuff, otherwise, no. You're still paying for all of it.

    • I am in the same boat.
From my understanding, $699 is after the bonus $300 trade-in bonus. Unless the double dip offers work (I doubt it will work), $399 out of pocket for pixel 7.

  • What's the cheapest phone you can buy to trade in?

I was going to keep my Pixel 2 XL as a spare as it's in very good condition and still a great phone but I feel it's time to upgrade.

    • Pixel 2xl is ineligible for trade in unfortunately. Just checked.

      • Ahhh

    • Might want to look into this phone and if you can sinc for photo back up without the Google subscription for extra space. I remember reading this somewhere.

    • Hey, dont forget that for Pixel 3a and earlier models get unlimited storage at original quality with Google Photos..

      • +3

Nah. Only first gen Pixel has unlimited original quality.
Pixel 2 & 3 had it for the first 2 or 3 years then changed to unlimited storage saver.
        5 & 6 doesn't have any of them.

        • Sneaky. Thank you.

    • +1

Info on this deal was up on whirlpool about week ago.

  • Fake trade in round 2 and get the $300 like the pixel 6a?

    • How many fake trade in can you do? Can use the imei more than once?

      • +1

fake i mean put a phone in to trade to get the $300 but later one pay back the value of trade

        • does it still work? is there any admin charges like Samsung trade if you don't send the device?

          • @pluto: No charges.

            $300 you keep.

but you do have to pay back the trade in value of the phone you were intending to trade

        • If you don't use the trade-in coupon they don't even ask you to pay anything because well, you haven't used it and it will be expired.

          • @Mi2: Well yeah but then you missed out on $300 and bought a phone

            • @Poor Ass: You didn't get my point.
              I traded a Pixel for $50.
They sent me a $50 coupon and & $300 coupon separately.
I only used the $300 coupon for S22 and didn't send the phone back to them as they underquoted it. The phone was in perfect condition with unlimited Google photos storage.
They emailed if I don't send the phone the $50 coupon would be voided.
              Nothing happened afterwards.

              • @Mi2: so they never took the $50 from ya credit card for the gift card? good to know that works too

                • @Poor Ass: I mean why would they if you haven't used it?

                  • @Mi2: i mean why would they not, it's a valid gift card until they cancel it

ya confused me… because the $300 is the trade in coupon and $50 is actually a gift card for trading in a device… you said coupon for both but we're on the same page

                    • +1

@Poor Ass: You're right. Didn't really pay attention.
But the point remains the same.

                      • @Mi2: give you an upvote mate

                      • +1

@Mi2: Pretty dodgy mate, pretty much fraud.
How many pixels do you need anyway. I'm sure you could buy some 50 dollar phones to trade in.

Can't use the same IMEI more than once anyway, as well as getting blacklisted.

              • @Mi2: When was this? Wouldn't that leave a negative mark on your profile the next time you do it?

                • +1

@fungorilla: Yes it does. I recommend not to do it and return the phone.

    • can you apply multiple coupons (voucher codes) against a single Pixel 7 transaction? Was that the case with P6?

      • +1

gift card codes from trade in and the $300 trade in yes… multiple coupons of other types probably not unless it allows stacking…. what coupons do you have?

        • I have two devices for which I'd like to do 'fake' trade-ins and just wondering if I could stack two $300 trade-in coupons.

          • +1

@DeepMidWicket: Nope, it'll be $300 bonus + device credit for the two devices. In which case don't apply as you're doing 'fake' trades so no point in doing two as you can't use the value anyway. Though might suggest against it if they end up charging your credit card the $300 bonus if you didn't actually trade anything.

            • @BeerCrisp: That's a good point. It'd be a bummer if they charge $300.
              This is from their FAQ

If our Returns Centre doesn’t receive your device(s) within 14 business days, we will either cancel your Trade-in Credit from JB Hi-Fi or charge your credit card the equal amount if the trade-in credit has already been redeemed.

          • +1

@DeepMidWicket: haha no… only one $300 per purchase

  • What's the best discount?

Using 20x points gift cards to pay? I'm not sure how much that credits you

    $300 bonus off

Value of phone, let's say nothing? I gotta work out a cheap phone I can trade it. Does it have to be working?

And apparently double dip with the freebies? I imagine this is automatic as there's no OPT in. It just says they'll email you.

Basically does that = $300 google credit? Which is better lol

    • nah you just pick a fake phone and get the $300 credit…. they'll bill you for the trade in value but they won't ask you for the $300 back as that's a coupon

      • +1

fake phone you say? i am all ears

        • Any phone worth value on square up e.g Samsung S22 128gb worth $500

          Pixel 7 $999 - $300 - $500 = you pay $199

2 months later because you didn't trade in they'll bill you for $500 but the $300 you don't have to pay back

          • @Poor Ass: But if I don't use their trade in value and use their 300 promo, they would cancel the trade in value only.. is that correct?

            • @RQNinja: Well to get the $300 coupon you need to trade something in. Then you get a gift card for that trade. Even if you don't use that gift card you'll have to pay it back back with a credit card as I don't think they cancel the gift card

      • What's the cheapest fake phone?

I think the other deal through google may be better!

Google play gift cards could of been handy if you could paid via those lol

        • Probably pixel 3

But doesn't really matter any phone. You'll just pay it back eventually

  • Yes, If I understand correctly, P7 $999 (128G)- trading value of P6 $300- bonus trade-in promotion $300- value of google hub&TV $200- JB GC$100=$99

    • well ONLY if the hub&tv can stack not sure yet

      • Really doubt it will stack

    • Hub and tv are more like $80 each so $160

Surely you can sell p6 for more

  • Last time i looked it was just the hub and chromecast. Did they recently add the gift card? or i simply didnt even notice it…

  • Pre-order now and get a bonus Chromecast, Google Nest Hub and a $100 JB Gift Card!

where does it say $100 gift card?

  • +8

good deal, only if you are planing to upgrade. don't upgrade because it's a good deal unless you can make money out of it. spending is spending.

  • Phones loose the $$ value so fast

  • Got samsung ultra 21 last year. Is it worth to upgrade to pixel pro? Getting 490 value for the phone

    • Unless you need pixel software it a pointless upgrade. The s21 ultra is still relevant

      • And better battery life

        • Battery of s21 s bad

          • @Nickbag: Yes i meant the pixel battery is good and don't need samsung software

  • I have a feeling JB got the release date wrong..

Phones supposed to release on 16th (per google website), but JB has the release date as 13th Oct which coincides with the start of this deal.

  • If I do not want the pre-order gifted nest hub 2 and chromecase, I can sell them to CEX for about $50.
So if I trade my 6 pro 128GB to JB, I can then get the 7 pro 128 GB for the price as below.

    1300-300-450-50=500

Also, I can have $100 JB gift card.

    Is that right?

    • yes

    • Yes but unsure if you can stack the deals so you may have to forget $50 & $100 gift card

      • seems jb is matching google official store which does its pre order till oct 16th

    • Yes, but it's not 500. It's 500+(whatever you paid for the pixel 6 pro)

  • If I trade in 2 devices, separately of course, can I stack the $300 vouchers? I've got a pixel 3 eating dust in a drawer and my actual phone. If I trade in both of them can I use the $600 combined?

    • +2

Doesn't stack. Trade one and maybe privately sell the higher value one.

  • +19

    Read post, confused.

    Read comments, even more confused.

    • 100%

  • How to find out what my phone is worth? Will they take LG phones?

  • +2

Anyone knows if the trade in works with debit card? The only credit card I have is Amex and sadly they dont accept Amex for trade in.

  • +1

Anyone know if you go through the trade in, get the voucher etc, apply it and get the bonus credit on top but then don't send the phone back, do TradeUp charge you for the value of just the phone or phone + bonus credit?

Ie. My Galaxy S10 has been valued at $80. With the bonus $300, that would get me $380 off the Pixel 7. If I decide to keep the Galaxy S10 and not send it back, do they charge my credit card for $80 or $380?

    Thx in advance

    • +3

From what I've read just the $80 as the $300 is discount code in the pixel 7.

      • Thx mate! Thought that the case but wasn't sure!

      • +1

From the Trade Up FAQ https://jbhifi.squaretradeup.com.au/faqs click on "How do I get my bonus coupon during the promotion period?"

And it says "Trade-in orders that are cancelled, may also mean coupon cancellation."

Not sure if that was there on the previous deals.

        • Ah interesting. Worth considering. Not sure how they can do it if you've already redeemed it and got your new phone tho.

          • +1

@uder: They charge your credit card. Just as they would had you used the trade in value.

But the wording of "coupon cancellation" suggests they just invalidate the (ideally unused) coupon as opposed to trying to recover the funds.

I really don't understand this offer

    • I am honestly contemplating an Apple shift after years from 12 Mini to Pixel 7 Pro, but this deal is so confusing…. I really don't know though, the 12 mini is fast, it's never had any issues with software, but dipping into 120hz would be real noice.

      • What does the 12 mini give in trade value? Do you like the smaller phone? I was thinking of trading my 13 mini in as it’s worth $500. But my phone works great and fits in my pocket so good.
I do like the idea of a good zoom lens though.
        Hmm

        • I love the small phone, but I need to carry a power bank or something if I tether it or use it for more than just normal use.

I can get $330 apparently, which is not great, I could get $500+ on gumtree. But with the extra $300 I get $630, it says.

It fits my pocket, it handles well, it's faster than the Pixel 7 Pro processor too, because the Apple SOC design is just so good. But then the OS of iOS is also so good.

Big decision, I could go for more battery, 120hz, brighter screen etc

I would probably prefer a iPhone pro or iPhone 14, but I'm not spending that amount of money! So I was thinking Pixel 7 Pro is probably close, obviously not in SOC output, but probably close in other things. The iPhone 12 mini was like $750-800 or something years back

          • +1

@checkingthisout: If you are in the Apple ecosystem i.e., use other devices like a Mac and Watch it is better to stick with your 12 mini perhaps?

Otherwise, Pixel 7 Pro should be a good upgrade imo.

            • @sridhar: Yeah got a MacBook, didn't think about that, the seamless integration is really good. Damn it.

  • +1

I went into jbhifi today to trade in my Samsung s22 for the $500 and i tried to get the bonus $350 to pre order the pixel 7. But the bonus $350 was only to buy other Samsung phones.

So this new deal that starts on the 13th you can sell a Samsung and get it ?

    • +1

      yeah, different deals

they have different ones for different phones.

when multiple offers like this happen, they send you in the trade in confirmation email, links to select which one to redeem.

i think when they did the pixel 6a one, there was another deal as well and i got 2 links in the email for me to choose which one i wanted to redeem (might have been another samsung one)

do the trade in on the 13th and you will have the option for the pixel 7
you can use any device worth $10 or more based on the info on the website

      • Thanks mate for clearing that up for me. Ill go in on the 13th and try again.

  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or Pixel 7 Pro?

    Dammit

Alot of upgrades for sale, sealed on Marketplace for $1,000 & under.

  • Can I bring a iPhone 3GS working condition to trade?

  • Anyone know if they need the original box with all the accessories or if just sending the phone will suffice for the trade-in?

    • +2

From my last two experience with Samsung trade in, you just need to send phone back.

      • Nice to know I'm not the only one who actually sent it in. Received an email a week after I posted it stating that they're accessing it to ensure it's up to the value. Still a bit anxious about whether they'll charge me if the deem it is not up to what I have declared.

    • +2

      Just bare phone

  • Reviews should be out on the 13th Oct for these i think the embargo lifts on the 12th.

  • Argh I'm so annoyed. I've been waiting for a deal to use my wife's pixel 3 to trade in for bonus credit.
I could have gotten $310 for it to go towards the p7 but she cracked her screen a few days ago and now it's worthless 🤬🤬

    • +4

Time to trade-in your wife 😅

    • +1

      How are you getting 310 on a pixel 3 while I’m getting 220 on a pixel 5?

      • +1

        $10 + $300 bonus
