YouTube Premium: Individual TRY ₺29.99 (~A$2.57), Family TRY ₺59.99 (~A$5.14) @ YouTube Turkey (VPN Required to Sign Up)

8080

If you tried to sign up to a Youtube Premium Family via India, you probably hit a dead end, with most cards ending up declining due to this reason and this reason. Well if that is the case, hopefully Youtube Premium via Turkey will be a breeze (albeit a slightly higher cost monthly), especially for those who have Google One via Turkey already (confirmed working for me, you will not need to enter a new address - took me like 10 seconds).

Google is increasing the prices for Youtube Premium in several countries worldwide, including USA, UK, Canada, Argentina, Turkey, Japan etc. This means Argentina is no longer the cheapest and most OzBargainers will be migrating from Argentina other countries.

For price references, Youtube Premium via Australia is $14.99/mth for individual plans & $22.99/mth for family plans

Notes

  • Most VPN services will connect to Turkey, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN

    • If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TRY, turn it off and on, then refresh the Youtube sign up page. You'll eventually land on TRY. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul

  • Not having any luck getting TRY to show up as currency with NordVPN

I had the same issue. Got it working using a free account with Windscribe VPN. When i first connected using Turkey - Istanbul, it came up with the wings currency. I tried it again after disconnecting & reconnecting and then it worked

    • I was having the same issues until I had it connect to number 49 if I remember correctly

Just a FYI to the OP, Australian price for Youtube Premium is now $14.99, at least for me, so an even bigger savings.

Population of Turkey must be now double the real number :)

    Great instructions thanks

  • For India Latitude 28° does not work but my Westpac Low Rate Credit Card works fine.

  • If I cancel my current Australian and sign up for this one, how much does this mess with my feed/algorithm? I dont wanna see turkish music videos etc on my feed

    • I think your country is still Australia, it just for payment (at least was with my individual one)
Bit confusing the country stuff for google pay / play

      • Bit confusing the country stuff for google pay / play

Google Play Store will have problem searching Aussie apps, some apps with restriction won't allow you to install, like Stocard, you will need another gmail account for apps.

  • Once i connect vpn i cant load any pages 🤦🏼

    • Which VPN? I have problem with VPN unlimited app but OK with their chrome extension.

  • I'm using surfshark.

When I connect to Turkey and go to youtube, the pricing is in UK Pound….. I've reconnected a tonne of times, what am I doing wrong?

    • Use Windscribe.

    • Keep trying Surfshark it should work. I had to try few times and it usually works

    • I used surfshark to subscribe. Worked for me.

    • I'm in the same boat @Tuggs. Did you get it to work in the end?

Thanks OP - successful migrated over to Turkey from Australia in these steps:

Cancelled Australian Youtube premium family (which already had 6 members)
Connected to Turkey with Windscribe VPN chrome extension
    TRY 59.99/month shown straight away
Signed up to Turkey Youtube premium family using 28 degrees card - left address blank.
    Winning!!!

According to the spot rate right now, TRY59.99/month is $5.06AUD/month.

    Compared to $22.99AUD/month, that's a saving of $17.93AUD/month or a whopping $215.16/year!!!

    Thanks again OP

    • No worries, glad I could help

    • You're only winning if all your family members actually get premium with no problems, did you check?

  • +2

I also do this with google one, it works out to be about $5/year for 100 GB. highly recommended ;)

    • Yes 🙌

    • Do you also have YT in India/Argentina/Turkey on the same account?

      • +1

        yeah, turkey.

    • Will have to look into that and change to Turkey too. Already been paying $2.50 / month for 100gb so not a good deal lol.

  • +1

Swapped out YT Premium from Argentina to Turkey. Instructions were spot on and very clear. Used NordVPN to connect to a Turkey VPN. The first VPN site picked up GBP but on the second try TRY. Thanks heaps!

Successfully switched from Argentina to Turkey!

thanks OP, went for the annual plan TRY299…..initially my windscribe was showing Czech Republic currency and location after selecting Turkey, turns out I just needed to update it… worked easily and I used my 28 deg card

    Thanks for the Windscribe tips

    Turkey isn’t a country anymore

Nothing wrong with subscribing to YouTube through an animal, right?

      • Or vegetable or mineral. I'm not prejudiced.

successfully resubscribed to Turkey from Argentina with Windscribe chrome extension and citibank debit card, prefer to pay yearly payment rather monthly as India.

If you are on android, consider using "newPipe" client, it is much better than stock utube app

Family plan in Argentina going up to 699 ARS (AUD$7.28), while it is 60 TRL (AUD$ 5.14). So the saving will be $2.14/month, right? I'm wondering if its worth the hassle!

    • +1

You can see above comments with many switching without an issue. I did mine in seconds

      • Fair point. Thanks I Smell Pennies
I always read your username wrong too

    • You're looking at it the wrong way.
An individual account went from $1.25 to $4..
So $5 for a family instead is a good deal.

  • Best to add family members into a family group before signing up

This should be the first step in your instructions for family membership. Otherwise you will need to either VPN for their account to join, or cancel the whole thing and start again =/

    • No likelyhood of barred if diff surnames etc?

      • +1

        No, the error specifically says:

"It looks like you're not in the same country as the person who invited you"

They don't take the name into consideration.

    • People should read the notes section - they have heaps of time to, and the deal isn't running anywhere.

Not everyone is signing up to a family plan, I see a lot have signed up to individual plans as well

      • If they are doing individual, India is cheaper.

Not everyone is signing up to a family plan, I see a lot have signed up to individual plans as well

You start the deal with "If you tried to sign up to a Youtube Premium Family via India, you probably hit a dead end"

        • I'll put it up there, give me a sec

    • Probably should add a note to ensure family members have also accepted the invitation and are part of the family group before subscribing. I found this out the hard way!

      • Haha exact same thing happened to me too.

I had to cancel the Turkey payment so I can add families. Good thing is the 1 month free trial actually ends in a month, and didn't end as soon as I cancelled.

        • Yep I cancelled as well but now we have a broken family group with only half the members with premium :) Tried vpn'ing to accept the invitations but nothing worked for me. Oh well, half the family happy with premium is good enough. I'll fix it properly next month and get another free month's trial. Good thing I used a fresh burner account as the family manager.

          • +1

@Obs: Go into google pay settings and delete all non-AU payment profiles. This will set your account back to AU. I then reinvited people and they were able to accept. Make sure everyone accepts, then you can follow the steps again to set it up.

      • I found a semi fix and thought I'll share.

        • Cancel any outstanding invitations.
        • On the family manager account, goto pay.google.com, choose Settings, select the payment profile located in Turkey, then at the very bottom choose Close payments profile.
        • Your account should now be back in Australia, so simply resend the invites again.

Note: Simply closing the profile didn't work for me initially. It needed the re-invites, using the original invites didn't work.

clear instruction. easy moving :) thx

Thanks so much OP. Worked for me. Legend!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Worked with ING following your instructions.

    • No worries and enjoy :)

      • Could you pls help me too? I don't know what i need to do to get this subscription cheap? It is still showing me $11.99 per month

  • -5

Can someone pls tell me what I need to do to get this subscription at a bargain price? How to change VPN and get youtube subscription pls?

    • Should at least read the whole OP post

  • Every time i go to subscribe it tells me my Turkish account has been suspended and i gotta verify info. I've deleted the profile and tried to use different VPNs and i've had no luck

  • I am connected to a Turkish server via NordVPN, however the price comes up in GBP. Any ideas?

    • +1

Have to continue to refresh connection until 49 comes up. I believe this is the one I used to get it to show in Turkish Lira

      • Cheers! Number 61 finally did the trick.

        • I tried refreshing about 25 times and kept getting GBP, so downloaded Windscribe and it worked perfectly.

  • How many people can you add onto a Family Plan?

    • +1

      5 others plus yourself

  • Omg Thank you OP!!!

My YT Premium was cancelled because I didn't have a Bank listed for India.

    Now back on baby!

    • Hey. Do you know how to subscribe for Youtube India in Australia and paying that less amount?

      • Wouldnt work. This is only like 50c more per month and less hassles. Didn't need to create a fake address or anything.

  • thanks, got myself the student plan

    • How long did the verification take for you?

edit: After submitting my student ID, it said verification may take up to 48hrs, then redirected me to YouTube homepage.

I then went back to subscribe and clicked the student option, clicked continue, then input payment details (wise card) and it was accepted.
Still a 32% increase over previous (normal, non-student Argentinian membership ~$1.28 AUD -> $1.69 AUD), but way cheaper than the Argentinian price hike was going to end up.

      Thanks OP!

Worked for me using iPhone. Installed the ExpressVPN app, set location to India. Signed up using Chrome in incogito mode. Worked like a charm!
Did the exact same process for my wife but on her Andriod phone. FAILED! Got to the last step where you pay on a webpage powered by Razorpay, click pay, took the payment from my bank account and the next page on the sign up process was blank white?? No email confirmation from YouTube Premium :(

    • same for me, payment taken but no premium

      • Oh damn, you too!?
Worst thing is, i tried again! 2 payments taken and no premium :'(

        • Try doing it for her on your phone?

          • +1

@I Smell Pennies: Just tried now, it worked! Gotta love iPhones haha
I just hope those other 2 failed attempts on her Samsung phone get refunded

            • @reventon: let me know how you go, im still being hopeful that the premium will come through in a day or 2

    • Add her to your family and change to family membership!

      • No options in the profile settings to upgrade to family. But there is 2 top-up options… 1 month and 3 month top-ups

    Thanks OP

  • Hey,

Haven't been able to get a payment working, revolut etc. Tried resetting and profile, didn't even let me set up a profile. Any suggestions

  • This is so confusing, so is this the new increased Turkey price?

If still the original price then wouldn't youtube eventually jack it like they did with other countries?

    • Yes, this is the new increased price for Turkey

      • What was the price before?

        • +1

          54.99 -> 77.99 -> 93.99 TL
