YouTube Premium: Individual TRY ₺29.99 (~A$2.57), Family TRY ₺59.99 (~A$5.14) @ YouTube Turkey (VPN Required to Sign Up)

8080

If you tried to sign up to a Youtube Premium Family via India, you probably hit a dead end, with most cards ending up declining due to this reason and this reason. Well if that is the case, hopefully Youtube Premium via Turkey will be a breeze (albeit a slightly higher cost monthly), especially for those who have Google One via Turkey already (confirmed working for me, you will not need to enter a new address - took me like 10 seconds).

Google is increasing the prices for Youtube Premium in several countries worldwide, including USA, UK, Canada, Argentina, Turkey, Japan etc. This means Argentina is no longer the cheapest and most OzBargainers will be migrating from Argentina other countries.

For price references, Youtube Premium via Australia is $14.99/mth for individual plans & $22.99/mth for family plans

Notes

  • Most VPN services will connect to Turkey, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN

    • If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TRY, turn it off and on, then refresh the Youtube sign up page. You'll eventually land on TRY. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul

Worked perfectly with Brave on Android, NordVPN and 28 Degrees. Just had to disconnect and reconnect Nord several times until Turkish lira appeared. Thank you.

Can confirm Argentina to Turkey move went well. Just need to find a house now. $26 for a year is pretty great.
Had to reconnect about 5 times to get Turkey prices to show on Windscribe.

    Thanks OP.

    thanks, OP.
just moved from argentina to turkey no problems. got a yearly plan. windscribe VPN worked a treat.
    cheers

  • What's the risks of starting a Turkish based family subscription living in Australia?

We have the Google home ecosystem scattered throughout out house, including 2 x Google TVs, and half have android phones, and the others with iphones. I'm thinking of creating new Turkish gmail account as the administrator, and then attaching my family Aussie accounts to this new one to try an iron out any potential location funny business.

    • I'd treat it as just for YouTube premium.
Personally still pay in AUD for Google One.

Switched the family plan from Argentina to Turkey. It was very easy and smooth with Windscribe!
    Thanks OP

guys I don't think VPN is needed to do this. I deleted my payment profile and made a turkey one. i used the address of a plush hotel.

    • Good to hear!

    • Yeah I didn't need an address, think must have a Turkish payment method already

      • probably. i had to delete my original payment profile in play.google.com, and then make a new one. from there you can add a payment method.

    Thanks OP, Got yearly subscription.

  • Just signed up for yearly subscription, however have now decided I would prefer a family subscription.

According to google I should be able to go to manage membership and change it, however the only option I see there is to top up my existing individual membership.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

  • My Argentina Youtube Premium will be end on 17/Nov. the new price start at after 21/Nov, so will I get charger the new price ARS 389 or the old one ARS 119.00?

Am thinking Transferring to Turkey. Should I wait or do it now?

    • you can see how much you’ll be charged on your youtube account by going to memberships page

      • At the moment it show ARS 119 and next bill date is 17/Nov.

so I should be still charge ARS 119 on 17/Nov and then I can Transferring to Turkey after that.

    • so will I get charger the new price ARS 389 or the old one ARS 119.00?/

This is the reason this deal

    • Why not cancel then just wait a few days the sign up

Thank you so much I Smell Pennies. Very clear instructions.

Couldn't be easier. As a new subscriber using VPN (Surfshark - courtesy 98% cashrewards), it wanted email address, card details (Revolut) and that was it. Didn't want an address - geolocated as Turkey.

And even better - the whole deal is legal 😊

    BTW - it's got cheaper. $25.69

    • No worries at all, thanks for your comment 🫶🏽
      Enjoy

Still on Argentina for Family account, might switch to save $2/month when I find the time!

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

My YT Premium is still with India.
I don't understand though. It's still charging my Australian AMEX Explorer card, even though multiple emails have been sent to me about the card details going to be removed soon because of the legislation changes in India.

I just assume Google India will happily keep charging me.

Will switch when this strange situation runs out.

  • Background play stopped working for all my devices recently.

    Anyone else?

I'm still on an Indian plan.

Thanks, just cancelled my Russian individual membership and took up a Turkey Family membership for the same price.

YouTube credited my remaining time from the Russian Subscription, giving a discount on the first charged month.

Thanks. Just subscribed to Turkish Youtube

Thank you - India didnt work with my cards, but this one worked and still good deal than AU price. Cheers

  • I've been doing this one for a couple years now and my life location is used in India. My last bill for premium was $3.81. I don't know if this is from a locked in price. (which I doubt)

  • India coming converting to $9.99 for me maybe prices have gone up?, seems turkey is cheaper at $4.99

I moved from Argentina to Turkey by following OP's instructions. So clear and simple!

Cancelled current subscription to Argentina, connected VPN to Turkey using Surfshark, resubscribed to 1 year plan at TRY 299 (~AUD$25.40). I used the Wise debit card and didn't have to enter my address.

Now subscribed to YT Premium til Nov 2023!

Can you top up for another year? I select top up but can only top up one extra month?

    • Thank you and enjoy :)

Can you top up for another year? I select top up but can only top up one extra month?

I'm not too sure - hopefully someone here knows

  • I used Nord VPN and SurfShark, both gave me the price in £, not the Turkish currency. When I check my IP, it does say Turkey. How can I fix this?

    • Please refer to my comment below

  • +1

    Thanks OP simple instructions.
It's been mentioned in comments but I'll mention it again if you're using NordVPN to connect to Turkey and the currency displays in pounds or euros keep connecting to the different Turkey servers and refresh the web page until it changes to Turkish lira.

I'll also mention I made a brand-new Gmail account to do this and when I went to the YouTube premium page I was offered a one month trial and I excepted that knowing that it stated it would renew to a one month subscription I just had to enter a name and some credit card details underneath there was a box for billing address I left it blank and clicked next and it worked. Next I went to manage my account hoping I could change the membership to yearly but I couldn't and I didn't really want to wait a month and mess around changing it so I took a little bit of advice from OPs instructions mentioning switching from different countries and the fact that people could just cancel and I noticed as well when you cancel you get to keep the service until that billing cycle so I cancelled the trial and then chose a yearly plan and paid for that and it expires in 13 months so the trial stacked fine.
    Hopefully this may assist somebody.

    • Thanks @Sammyboi. I managed to get to the part to show the Turkish currency. I entered the name, credit card details, and like you, I didn't need to enter an address as it let me proceed. But then an error message popped up "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, secure your account." It took me to a link "Secure a hacked or compromised Google Account" and I followed the steps. There were no "No security activity or alerts in the last 28 days", so there was nothing that I could do to remove this problem.

Has anyone else encountered this same problem?

Thanks for passing on your experience. Enjoy :)

  • less than 1 week after subscribe for 1 year, my YouTube is suspended. i contacted them but they decided. i appealed without success. i don't know the real reason. maybe i did bad comments, maybe i published a video, maybe maybe, i just used YouTube music and watch video. i never comments and never published anything. The most scary is they decided without give the reason. maybe because i used vpn to subscribe? however they refunded my yearly Turkish account. my account still blocked and probably will stay like this for ever. is anyone got info. Cheers

    • When your account is block, does it impact your ability to use your email?

      • I'm pretty sure just the YouTube channel gets blocked but I could be wrong.

        I Smell Pennies..,thank you ,1 year subscription TRY 299.99 = $25 AUD. 👍🙏🏾

  • just checking with everyone that is buying 1 year subscription it is just for individual plan. Is there a way to buy a year on a family plan? TIA

    • I believe family plans are only monthly

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just migrate from Argentina to Turkey for 1 year subscription. Simple and easy

Transferred over my Indian account to Turkey. Credit card was about to expire and couldn't update or add a new card without having issues. Cancelled Indian and signed back up to Turkey with no issues.

  • Finally, I was able to subscribe to my premium using this hack. My account got suspended when try adding my ING card. My learnings:
    - If your account gets suspended with one card, do not use the same card for another account. Google will automatically suspend the new account when adding the card to your payment settings.
    - As per the instruction, add the family members without the VPN first and then follow the instruction for a new account.
    - If use incognito in Chrome, you can't use the Windscribe Chrome extension, I used UrbanVPN instead.

    • How did you un-suspend your account?

      • Could not!! I had to use another Google account and add the suspended account as a family member.

        • Ah so suspended payment but not from accessing the account?

  • +1

Thanks op, I got charged AUD28.56 for single annual

    • How did you pay Annual?

      • +1

It's is an option when you sign up, but only for single subscription, not for family

      No worries :)

    09/11/22 - family $5.09 - 28 Degrees

  • Anyone recently receive this email from Youtube and have an idea if they mean they'll be changing the pricing? Or is there nothing to be concerned about?

"Thank you for being a YouTube Premium member. We hope you're enjoying your YouTube Premium benefits, including ad-free and downloadable videos, background play and YouTube Music Premium.

As a reminder, on 15 Nov 2022 you will be charged TRY 59.99. After that, you'll be automatically charged your membership price on a monthly recurring basis. If you want to see your current membership details, change your payment method or cancel before your next charge, go to YouTube Settings. If you have any further questions, go to our Help Centre."

    • It is the same price listed in the description for family premium. Is that what you picked? Are you currently on youtube premium trial?

Could be a reminder email that you will be charged on 15/11.

  • If you currently are using YouTube via a different country does anyone know how you can update your credit card details if they change (eg: new one issued). I've tried to change my payment details but keep getting an error message.

    • +1

I was subbed to Indian YT and tried to update my payment CC last week aswell due to getting a new card.
Had same issues. Ended up cancelling Indian YT and resigning up to Turkey with new card with no issues.

  • I'm currently using Argentina family account and I found difficulty adding family member as it looks like they also need to change their address to Argentina and won't be able to use their google pay.

I suspect the best option for me is to?
    1. Cancel my subscription
    2. Change my address to Australian address
    3. Invite all my families
    4. Resubscribe using Turkey family subscription

    Thanks

    Nice.

Interestingly I didn’t need to put in a Turkish address anywhere…

  • Currently have a Google one plan (for photo storage). Does anyone know if I can use this for the YouTube premium on my same account? Or do I need a different google account?

  • +1

Couldn't get it to work with Nord but managed to with Windscribe. Paid a year up front. $25 via my CommBank debit card. Thanks for another solid deal!

  • Errrm has anyone had an issue where the payments come out but it hasn't updated in your account settings? Still saying my premium membership is ending in Jan even though I had $25 come out of my bank.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I've been on YouTube India for years without issue, and this month my CC expired. Unfortunately I couldn't update payment methods due to RBI regulations, however was able to successfully move to Turkey. At first, I was getting different currencies (Czeck and then GBP) using Winscribe and only after using an Incognito browser it gave me TRY.

Interestingly, it didn't ask me for a billing address and defaulted to 'Turkey'. Thanks again!

  • Do debit cards work with this method?

  • +1

thanks, another person who was on the india family plan with cc expiring. swapping over was easy

Anyone who has signed up for 1 year membership via TRY, once you are into the 1st month you can go in again & get a second year via topup using the same payment method.

  • anyone having issues with family members not getting YTP? this happened to my family members after i switched from Argentina to Turkey

    • Make sure they are using the correct account with YTP on it.

Double check they are part of your family group too.

    • You might have to get them to join the family before signing up for YTP. If you're already signed up maybe cancel and sign up again? Not sure but I read somewhere someone suggesting having the family first.

  • +2

My latest charge today for family plan was A$4.81 (no internation txn fees)

    Win

  • Best way to add family members? Should I cancel arg then add all family members, then move to Turkey and subscribe again?

  • Used Hotspot Shield VPN (comes with my dashlane password manager). I cancelled the Argentina subscription and resubscribed using Turkey family membership. Was a breeze.

  • For those who are struggling with payment error message "Secure your account" try to use chrome incognito browser and log in to Youtube then follow the same process, it should work without asking Turkey address. Worked with CBA debit mastercard. Thanks OP!

    • AUD$24.44 pending on my account cheaper than what I thought ^_^

  • Thanks for this. I switched from India to Turkey (old credit card expired and couldn't renew with India). I use a CBA Mastercard and used Windscribe VPN (Free) and it worked first go. Perfecto!

  • I'm struggling with this - my credit card expires this month, so I figured I'd switch from India to Turkey. I get through mostly OK until I enter my card details and I get the following error:

Your request failed. Use a different payment method, or contact us.

I've already set up a Turkey payment profile and deleted the Indian one - I only have the one profile showing on https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings

I'm using the Windscribe free VPN extension. I usually use Getflix VPN but for some reason Youtube thinks I'm Russian whenever I connect to the Turkey VPN server so I had to use Windscribe.

I've tried different cards and I get the same result each time (Amex, Westpac, NAB and ubank). It looks like a few people have seen this error but manage to get past it…?

    • Refer to my comment above:

Try using chrome incognito browser, log into Youtube and follow the same process it should work.

      • Does windscreen free VPN work in chrome incognito mode?
