  • Well, I guess I have my Christmas present. Wasn't looking to upgrade my original Mavic Pro - but here we are. Thanks OzBargain :D

    • Same boat. Mavic Pro is ageing and while I'd like a Mavic 3 Pro, I can't justify the price. I think the Mini 3 Pro has similar quality, if not better to the Mavic Pro and is so much lighter. Looking forward to carrying less weight when I go on walks

      • Much quieter too, which is great when using it <100m from people.

      • Yeah, I watched a review when it came out and decided it would be a good replacement but not at MSRP. Looking forward to way more portability than the Mavic and easier to get going with the controller. I also saw a video on doing 3D modeling with it which seemed awesome - Would love to try that out as a fun thing to do.

  • Always sad to see new lows on something you've paid more for, but I have some great vids from the last few months on this thing.
This little drone is the business, spend the extra over the previous model.

    • +2

I mean, if its been months already, what's the issue lol

  • Is the screen worth it?

    • +3

Yes, 100%. Not having to worry about your phone battery when you want to fly is an amazing luxury. I used to use the original DJI drone and if I got any notification or phone call during a flight, I wouldn't be able to answer.

      • What's your take on the insurance do you think it's worth it on this particular drone?

        • +1

Depends on the flyer. You get front and back sensors on this model so for the most part you should be covered. You might run into issues if you fly horizontally for side tracking or POI shots as there aren't any side sensors. I recently took it overseas so I did buy it for peace of mind. You get extra warranty if you don't make any claims.

grab the intelligent battery plus here with the same discount https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/234764899917 down to $119

    • Approximately how long is the flight time with the (fully charged) battery that comes with the drone itself?

      • Approx max time is 34mins for the standard battery but actual is more like 25mins.

The plus battery is 47mins, with actual flight time closer 38-40mins

There are few youtube videos on this

    • +1

Just keep in mind that the intelligent battery plus pushes the weight to over 250g

      • +1

Always wondering, is someone going to actually put your drone on a scale?

        • If you're unlucky to meet a tech-savvy police who knows his/her DJI drones, he/she doesn't even need to weigh your DJI Mini 3 Pro with Plus battery to know it is over 250g.

  • So general question - What would the average consumer do with one of these? Is it just for a bit of fun?

    Take photos/videos while on holidays?
Do some landscape videos/photos from different perspectives?

    • Basically yes, but consider this more of the pricier hobbyist range like a DSLR vs using your phone camera. You can do some creative video shots however noting where you are permits it or maybe a cliffside photo you wouldn't be able to get normally. The possibilities are there but you'd have to consider how often you might use it to warrant the price.

    • +1

Apart from your standard holiday photo/video stuff you can also use it to do roof inspections :). I was able to save myself a few call out fees (for getting initial quotes) when I had an issue with my solar hot water system. Also going to help a friend pin point a possible gutter issue over a weekend.

      • can also use it to do roof inspections :). I was able to save myself a few call out fees (for getting initial quotes) when I had an issue with my solar hot water system.

This was pretty much my justification for buying this to the missus (Chief Financial Controller).
It will pay for itself in due course if you can avoid those nasty call out fees by diagnosing issues yourself first.

  • Will the prices likely to go any lower around 25th November?
My FOMO and HODL sensors are now in conflict with one another.

    • +2

i dont believe so, usually offers are strong at first and then fizzle

  • where can you fly drones in Sydney? Bought an DJI Mavic years ago, been collecting dust for so long, battery probably dead also. Flew less than 10 times I think.

    • This is a good deal but I am not buying to replace my old Phantom 3 Advanced, because I have run out of places to fly around Sydney and it is now gathering dust.

    • Here's a map of where you can fly:

      http://opensky.page.link/opensky-casa-web

Actually AFAIK the Mini 3 Pro has more freedom to fly that what those maps show because it is sub-250g, but I haven't been able to find any maps appropriate to the sub-250g category.

  • The gimbal tilt can tilt vertically on these right? If you want to take optimal photos and videos for Instagram etc?

    • yes

  • Grabbed one for $935.10 at anaconda (Canberra). Thanks!

  • Managed to price beat at anaconda Everton Park for $935. They won't hold but call up to confirm stock, said they had a fair bit left.

    • Just got 1 at Anaconda Everton Park for the same. I think they have 1 left. They told me they had 6 to start with.

      • Anaconda Everton Park now OOS. They sold 6

  • +13

got 1 from Anaconda Innaloo for $935 with 10% off gift card from bigw so just under $850 after all discount

  • Anyone know if you're allowed to travel with one of these in your hand luggage ( obviously talking about a plane here) if they battery isn't connected?

  • Because there is currently no local stock in my Harvey Norman (only order online/ship), my local Anaconda said they can only match the price not beat it by 10%…

    • For those like me, I called JBHIFI and they managed to bundle both the Drone/RC + FlyMore for $1250 ($1194 best price at Anaconda). Not a bad alternative.

      • Might just pop into Big W first and pay for it with $1125 of gift cards…

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736949

        • +1

or ask them to hold it for you until Wednesday and get the 15% off gift card. get it for $1062.5 instead.

          • @RichardF89: Appreciate that! Managed to get it all for $1081 after getting some of the Ultimate Gift Cards at Big W ($500 + 10% off + 10% off for everyday rewards trial).

      • Would you be able to share the receipt man? JBHIFI offered me 1279 for the bundle

  • Price match +10% difference off at Anaconda Ashmore, GoldCoast @$936, they asked if I called as they had few enquiries. I attended with no reservation around 11am but I noted 2 other stores closer to me in Tweed did not have stock so drove 45mins up the M1 to collect.

    • No stock in Ashmore when I just checked

      • I just picked mine up from Ashmore about an hour ago.

  • I noticed all Anaconda stores in VIC are now showing Out of Stock online.

    • They've also updated the price to $895. Clearly this was ozbargained
EDIT: I was looking at the wrong model. The one at 895 is with the normal RC controller (without the LCD screen)

  • Tempting, been tossing up between a second-hand mavic 2 pro or a new 2s. I like the warranty factor but this seems like a ripper deal. Reviews suggest the 2s is superior but obviously more expensive. I am hoping for a good deal on a 2s soon!

    • +3

Get this, 2S may have a better camera but this has lot less restrictions for being under 250g and a good enough camera. No point in buying a better drone if you can’t fly it freely. Drone rules are getting tighter every year, you’ll need to register anything over 250g pretty soon, and the current 5.5km controlled aerodrome no fly zones can really restrict where you can fly those bigger drones.

      • +1

        Starting to think exactly this!

  • +1

    Cheers OP :)

  • Just picked one up at Anaconda Kawana waters but they wouldn't price match. Rang the area manager and wouldn't budge.

  • Anaconda approved my price beat over the phone, but when I arrived in store their price had also been updated to $1039 so they rejected it. Waste of my time.

    • Price is now $895 but OOS everywhere

      • Where are you seeing $895?

        • -1

I was looking at the wrong model actually. The one at 895 is with the normal RC controller (without the LCD screen)

  • +4

Picked one up from Frankston store, used gift cards from big w for extra 10% off $845 all up, thanks OP! The guy gave me the price beat without me even asking, must have had a few come in tonight

    • I was one of them lol. I thought I didn't have the time to get the gift cards as all the other stores were OOS and had the feeling they would update their price (which they did some time today)

      • +1

Also forgot I can claim back GST when I go on a cruise in 6 weeks! Total only $760 now 😄

  • Anaconda now lowered the price, so no extra 10% off lol

  • Managed to get it from Anaconda with 10% beat before their price change. Now to find a fly more plus kit on sale….

    • Are you going to get the insurance?

      • Not sure yet. Would be keen to hear what others think of if to get it or not.

  • +2

Snapped one up from JB with price match and 15% off gift cards from the last deal. Not too shabby!

  • +3

Managed to snag one at Kawana Waters. Had to drive 90min each way to get it but took the bike so fuel cost like $15…still worth it. Got $900 of big W cards for at 10% off, they relucantly did the price beat, but also combined a 5% cashback offer from Commbank so about $819.60 all up including fuel.

  • $1035 Same price at Harvey Norman now as well…. Called and spoke to a bloke I had bought an Ozbargain laptop deal off a few weeks ago.

Didn't have stock but agreed to the receipt price $935 and said he will have it before Friday……… WINNING

    • That is cunning! JB hifi and good guys have stock and willing to match the $1035, was able to get with Fly More Combo Plus Kit (extended run time batteries) for $1319. Fly More Combo Plus Kit not being in stock but a few days lead time.

    • How did you get him to agree to the 935! I missed the boat on the anaconda price beat :(

  • +1

Hmm so this is showing up at $1039 at TGG.

Could use RewardGateway to buy a 5% off gift card, price will come down to $987.05 + Delivery.

    • +1

Thanks for the tip mate, used a 5% off gift card from RewardGateway and a $20 voucher I had for a total of $969

      • All good, not sure if it's the cheapest option but a decent saving nonetheless!

  • It seems like a smart idea to buy the DJI care package. What do you recommend buy the 2 year or nothing at all?

  • managed to get for 986 at retravision with price match an 5% RAC discount. Not 935 but not bad.

  • Turns out the guy at Harvey Norman couldn't get me a drone till Christmas, ( code for not ever).

Stealth mission to JB HIFI…. managed to get the to price match the Anaconda voucher from here and they had stock …

Now the precious is in my hands …. 😁

The sky will be buzzing with ozbargain drones…
