Long time lurker, first time poster so please be gentle if I made an error in any way possible :)

Combine with Macquarie 3% discount on JB Hi-Fi Gift cards to bring it down even lower. I got mine for a total of $506.55 by buying a $500 gift card for $485 and paying the remaining amount.

I paid $479.74 at Officeworks last week by price-beating this website: JackDeal
Might be a worth a try for others.

    • I'm surprised they matched them, they are grey imports aren't they?

      • I have no idea as Officeworks did do the match :) I honestly wasn't even sure if the website was legitimate…

      • I work for Officeworks and I'd say Hazzerboraco got lucky. At my store we wouldn't pricematch with Jackdeal as they state they are Hong Kong based. Really depends on how strict store management is on price matches.

        • +3

I got a price match at OW, they originally said they wouldn't due to it being a hong kong website that didn't offer identical warranties. But when I pointed out that didn't matter anymore they relented.

So I ended up paying: $474.05 OW price beat
Less 10% Woolworths gift cards -$47
          Less 2% HSBC cashback -$8.46
          For a grand total of $418.59 😏

          • @shkippy: HSBC only do cashback when you pay under $100.

          • @shkippy: Great. How did you do this? I have a $500 celebration gift card from Coles. Just swipe the cards at checkout?

    • +3

Damn, jack has a deal website with cheap prices

Muzeeb must be Chief Price Officer

      • +2

I thought prices would be jacked with a website that name jackprice

    • +1

Hey thanks for the tip. Officeworks price-beat for me too.

  • +3

PSA: You can buy Macquarie gift cards for the exact amount :)

    • For Macquarie customers only?

      • Yeah but it's free to become a customer and I exclusively use it for their instantaneous gift cards

        • Ok great, thanks
          Will sign up then

Wish they still had stock of the Pixel 5… seems like they aren't sold new from most anywhere, but I'm not ready to give up on reasonable sized phones yet :(

    • +3

Agreed, love the size of my 5.

    • Was in the same boat, settled on the 6a which has been a great phone for the last few months, content enough until next round of updates

    • +1

      Cheap on Reeblo

    • Mobileciti are selling them brand new (if you believe them)

Reebelo has them in 'as new' condition refurbished.

    • +1

It's still a great phone. Typing here with one. Good size and unlimited HQ photos. But there's a big issue with the hardware with bootloop likely will happen in 12 months. Reminds me of LG G4

I claimed my warranty from Google store

My daily driver is this one. Work is something else

    • +1

Wish they still had stock of the Pixel 5

Same here. If they made a P7 in a P5 form factor I'd buy one right now

    • +1

Bought off eBay from these guys 6 months ago. Genuine brand new stock. NOT AU model type as listed though - was the US model GD1YQ which does not come with headphones. I argued this and they sent me some genuine Google USB buds (the different model type of the phone didn't bother me).

  • I think this code was available only for Wednesday

    • Code works, just bought one now

  • Is there much else better than the pixel 6a at this price point?

    • +1

      Realme or Xiaomi

    • +1

I was in this dilemma a few months back and decided on a refurbished iphone 11 pro in the end. I wanted to stay with android so bad but was really conflicted with the bad reviews I read on the pixel 6a (it was also a lot more expensive a few months back). ymmv. Am not an apple fan by any means but just wanted a decent, stable phone with a good camera.

      • -1

My experience with the 11 wasn't good for stability but certainly the camera was better than my previous years Samsung flagship. Longevity of updates was also good but quite a few glitches along the way

    • -1

      Xiaomi definitely

  • +1

Is the fingerprint scanner still slow?

    • +2

Very snappy in my experience, faster and more reliable than the rear facing one on my 4a.

      • +3

Very snappy in my experience, faster and more reliable than the rear facing one on my 4a.

Worse than my P5 (I have both). Rear sensors are inherently better because it's dedicated and tactile. In-screen readers will always suffer from the fact that it has to detect your finger, turn off those pixels on the screen, then read it. It's also worse because you have to look at the screen to find where the sensor is. With a tactile sensor this is never an issue.

    • +1

Not reliable, basically just using password

    • +1

People who are saying this is snappy have never tried an S21 or S22 series phones.

The Pixel 7 series use an optical sensor, which is noticeably slower than the ultrasonic ones on the flagship Samsungs. I used to own a Pixel 7 Pro before moving back to my S21, it was one of the main driving factors.

I'd imagine the Pixel 6a to be even slower.

  • When does this deal actually expire? I want to get 10% off via gift card or OW price beat

  • Would you wait for a Samsung Galaxy A54 in 3 months or get a Google Pixel 6a

    • I'm waiting for a pixel 7a, but that'll probably take 6 months or longer.

  • +1

Trying to decide between this and Motorola Edge 30 Neo.( https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-edge-30-neo-5g-1… )

    • All the research I've been doing shows the 30 neo to be the better choice, and cheaper. Likely what I'll be going with

    • You can try price matching Skycomp for $517 (maybe + postage) and then stacking with Coles/Woolworths discounted gift cards.

    Waiting for S23 Ultra

  • Still shopping for Xmas for my daughter. Only thing is in addition to good camera & battery life, she really likes a 3.5 port & SD storage. Anything like that in anyone's travels recently?

    • Something like the Motorola G82 could be worth a look. There are so many Motorola models out there, but this one I looked at for my sister at Black Friday. The Poco phones F3, M4 also.

    • Samsung A52S had these and is quicker than A53, but doubt there are any new in stock anywhere.

Is pixel better security than iPhone?

    • -1

Depends on which iPhone but compared to an iPhone SE, this is better. However, comparing Apples with Oranges

      • +1

        Iphone8+

      • +2

Security depends on software system.. SE gets very same ios that any other iphone gets.. then how is se less secure?

    • +1

If you are coming from Android and consider other aspects also alongside security, better stay on Android.
Google apps are treated like an unwanted guest in ios. Calling app of ios is from 1970s. All calls from all apps are dumped in calling app in a single list making it hard to find the last mobile call you made to your family member from among all teams, WhatsApp and other calls listed there all together. You can't find a contact straight from inside dialer. You've to jump into contacts and type the name you want to find, then select and then choose what you want to do. Compare that with Android dialer.
Ios swipe type is a big pain in ass, no matter what keyboard settings you set, it'll keep f$&@ing your typing by changing previous words as per it's dumb guesses and totally unrelated to the context of the content you are typing.
Ios is slower than android. To understand this, use ios for a day and you'll be surprised how many ios nazzis just try to prove a wrong point.
Iphone batteries don't live as long as a good android device.
Overall ios is just an average experience.

    • No simple answer

  • Is this a better than Samsung S21 FE 5G?
    Will appreciate your’s honest feedback.
    Thanks

If you've got a friend who's buying a Pixel 7 or 7 pro from Optus, you can also make an offer on the free 6a that comes with it.

    • Looks like you can get Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a for $1047.64 if you cancel within the first month.

      • don't think you can do that… when you make the purchase, you basically sign up to an agreement saying you stay with them for <stated plan duration>. Normally 12/24/36 months.

  • +1

And if you don't like being google's b!tch use GrapheneOS.

  • Seriously tempted. Bought the Samsung S10e when it launched thinking it was 5G compatible and now Telstra is putting us on the %g network I find I was wrong.

  • Party's over- wicked wed coupon doesn't work in-store, worked online but then click and collect got cancelled immediately :(

    • It does, but you need to apply at the counter I found.

  • +1

Got mine for $466.80 in Total.

    1. Ultimate Gift Card for Kids $500 from Woolies @10% Discount (Cost $450)
    2. Walk in JB Hi-Fi store - Ask to apply 92WICKEDWED5 Code & use your $500 Gift card (You will only pay $16.80 at counter with gift card).

Grand Total actually spent $466.18 … not bad (You need to go in store because you can't split pay with the gift card online)

  • This or the Poco F4?

  • Stock all around me.
Either a very unpopular phone or they're heavily overstocked.

  • +3

Just bought $500 of Coles celebrations gift cards (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/744614) at 15% off for $425 then price-matched a Google Pixel 6a at Officeworks with Jackdeal to reduce it down to $479.74 (https://www.jackdeal.com.au/google-pixel-6a-6gb-ram-128gb-ro…) ended up grabbing a google case for $49 so came to $523.99 total costing me $448.99 total for phone and official case.

    • I just stocked up this gift card for $500. Do you guys think the price of Pixel 6a will drop further down during Boxing day?

    • Jackdeal is now jacking the price for Sage green from 499 to 507. Should I wait for a better deal?
