[SUBS] Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (IMAX Enhanced) to be added on February 1st @ Disney+

2234

UPDATE: A previous version of this article listed January 20th as the Disney Plus release date. We acquired this information through Disney Plus Support, which gave us that original date.

However, that information is incorrect. We apologize for the incorrect date and have corrected it below.

Starting the year the best way possible! We recently contacted the Disney+ team and we got a First Report on the official release date for the new sequel from Marvel Studios, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The Hollywood Handle can confirm that the movie hits Disney+ on Wednesday, February 1st.

(source: The Hollywood Handle)

As pointed out by glorydaybulls, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is one of a select few Disney+ titles that are IMAX Enhanced. It was announced at CES 2023 that Disney+ subscribers will get to enjoy IMAX DTS signature sound on IMAX Enhanced titles with DTS-compatible TVs and AV receivers later in the year, making Disney+ the first major streaming service to support DTS audio. NOTE: it is unclear whether Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will have IMAX DTS audio enabled on Feb 1st.

Users who wish to Block "Additions to Streaming Services" can do so by clicking on the Streaming Service Addition tag, then clicking the 3 dot menu, then clicking hide on new deals and/or front page. Ensure that on the home page, the new front page is selected for customisation to show. Video Instructions here or More info here.

Worth a watch or more of the standard marvel fare?

    • +40

      Same old crap

        • +4

Having the two coded and oppressed ethnic minorities fight against each other rather than the wypipo probably makes it extremely not woke.

            • +12

@OrderedChaos: or just that you saying it's woke is so super lame

            • +3

@OrderedChaos: Ha ha ha ha. Comment suggest the overly triggered sensitive conservative mind virus is at work. XD

            • +6

@OrderedChaos: "Gravity isn't 9.8 m/s^2, that's just the Newton Hitchcock Illuminati trying to brainwash you"

gets downvotes for being stupid and wrong

"See they are out to get me!"

            • +1

@OrderedChaos: Calls everyone a snowflake but complains about getting downvotes. I spent 5 minutes wasting my time watching the link. Of course youre going to find "woke" issues when you look at it through a woke magnifying glass. I didn't even notice it… is it even that bad?

        • +6

          What's woke about it?

          • +1

@Jazza2400: Disney. They should focus on good, strong, compelling story telling, rather than preaching their own misguided, questionably moralistic world view. And this coming from one of the "oppressed ethnic minority", who's sick to death of insensible people thinking they "know" the oppressed, and quickly turn to oppress others under the guise of "moral virtue". Sickening. All lives matter - not just my oppressed ethnic minority one; white men are like all men - not some species to beat up; colonizers did what all humans have done for millennia - conquer. The world is not full of racists, nor is it with misogynists. The moral virtue signalling, fragile psyche fools, need to back the heck off. Don't preach to me. Educate me… if you think you have a point. But don't bloody preach.

PS: Critical Drinker on YouTube critiques it. Look him up. Entertaining.

            • +3

@OrderedChaos: You are not required to adopt their views portrayed in the movies, given they are only providing their take to the masses. Dictating what their approach needs to be is not in your remit.

Should the masses stop viewing their movies and start voting them down en masse, I'm sure they will review their approach to storytelling to keep shareholders happy.

If you are going to go against the machine, per se, perhaps fighting fire with fire in the offensive against the oppressor isn't the way. Just food for thought.

              • +4

@misunderstood98: Simply calling out those who refuse to acknowledge that the damage Wokism and Virtue signalling is causing. It's not as much "going against the machine" than it's calling out the bigotry of denying a point of view if that view doesn't fit your narrative.

            • +1

@OrderedChaos: That explains what you think woke is in movies but you didn't explain what about the 'Black Panther - Wakanda Forever' movie is woke? If its that (SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED AHEAD)………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Shuri (a woman) becomes Black Panther, then that is comic book accurate. Its not just something they did to be 'woke.'

If its something else, keen to hear what you think was woke in the movie? Not jumping on you here. Genuinely keen to understand

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: That's pretty much my thoughts. Is it a white person protagonist with heterosexual relations with a beautiful woman and a non-white as a villain? No? Woke! Black protaginist with white villain? Oh no it's white genocide. These snowflakes are so dramatic they make me want to set myself on fire.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: 🙂… Best summed up by the cast and execs. The movie was less of an issue than the junkets, and interviews were.

            • @OrderedChaos: @OrderedChaos you know Disney has been making moral fables for over 80 years now, right? Also, unrelated to that statement, have you seen Wakanda Forever? Can you find a single thing that is "woke" about it? One specific thing?

              What an absolute unit.

            • +1

              @OrderedChaos: "But don't bloody preach."

              What is your post then?

            • -1

@OrderedChaos: Don't get outraged about a superhero movie snowflake

              • +1

@BadAtNames: That's the typical delusional ad hominem response from those who themselves rage against the world for no good reason. The outrage that "With a fine measure of woke" elicited, clearly evidenced from the downvotes, suggest that the snowflakes are those of your ilk who can't deal with a simple observation and would rather start name calling and throwing hissy fits.

“Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” Stephen R. Covey
… go on… and don't be "most people".

        • -1

100% extra woke crap. multiple characters who have no flaws and can do everything under the sun…

    • +12

Literally the same, repetitive and generic, at least Dr Strange was a bit different

      • put some love on my far from home too :\

        • +1

That one was great, and I haven't even seen any of the old spiderman movies! :D

    • +1

      Was alright

    • +6

blank panther 1 was good, number 2 is pretty generic. Heck all of phase 4 is dull

      • +2

The TV shows would argue otherwise. But the movies are a bit eh. Spidey and 10 Rings were decent, Strange 2 tried something different, Eternals should've been a TV series or 4 hours long, and… Oh, Thor… what was that?

        • The effectiveness of the TV shows highlights the change in business model Disney has undergone.

        • Thor4 trailer got me cringin

        • in all honesty im actually pretty tired of the marvel TV series. You have to watch them all to get the story. Back when it first started it was just movies to catch you up to speed.

          • @RetroMetro: I've not felt any of the tv shows are essential viewing for the movies, personally. So far, anyway.

    • It took itself seriously unlike a lot of recent stuff like Thor 4, so was nice for that. Very little humour, a lot of haunting atmosphere.

Overall the story was fine but not amazing, with some questionable CGI/costume choices towards the end.

  • +2

Thanks for the heads up. Wondering when it would land.

  • Great for everyone who didn't grab the Mubi deal

  • +1

Ooh.. this reminds me to chase up the flybuys points…..

  • +1

Awesome, I missed this in Cinemas so I'm glad I can catch up so quickly at home.

  • -7

Lots of movies come with streaming services that people pay for so the highlighting of individual movies isn't a bargain

    • +7

      Always one…

    • +1

Look at the bottom of the description - there are instructions for 'your kind' - antistreambargainers

      • +1

“Rar rar streams… rar rar not a bargain”

      • Dude. It's the New Year. Stop being an …. for a second.

        • -4

I'm allowed to express my opinion if I don't think it's a bargain, I'm sure nobody wants OzBargain to just become a dumping ground for ads

          • -7

@BargainMe: This deal is more of a forum thread… are we ok to post every movie that goes to a paid streaming service as a bargain now.? Or only the ones that suit a certain leftist narrative?

            • @siresteelhell:

are we ok to post every movie that goes to a paid streaming service

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/510579

Yes, mods decided they can be posted. Troll posts from snowflakes who get triggered after something like this is posted get deleted though. There are instructions on how to block these posts, but a lot of people prefer to keep seeing them so they can come and whine on these posts even after they are aware.

Mods also won't remove negative votes on these deals, but it does get removed if too many people neg your comment.

  • +4

A bit of meh movie. One watch was enough.

    • +2

Agreed - both BP movies are beautiful to look at and have some good characters, but the stories were kinda generic and don’t make the most of the setting.

      • +14

"Stories were generic" sums up nearly every Marvel/DC movie.

        • +1

          Gotta make the shareholders happy.

        • +3

Every now and then Marvel manages to pull off something special (End Game), but yes, comic book movies are very generic. Topped off with the obligatory
boring massive CGI fistfights at the end.

  • +10

I enjoyed the film; thought the tributes to Chadwick Boseman (who played the Black Panther in the first film, and unfortunately passed away before he could appear in this film) were quite nicely done.

  • +5

Genuinely curious - what makes this a deal?

    • -4
      • +4

You are re-posting how to unsubscribe - I did not mean to unsubscribe. (I in fact like the Blank Panther series very much!😄) But your response is irrelevant to my original question 🤔 - what makes this a deal?

        • +3

I think it’s the fact that it might save some people a $25 movie ticket since it’s still in the cinemas if they realise they can wait a couple weeks and get it for free if they’re already a Disney subscriber

        • +2

It’s not a deal but new releases on streaming services get posted here all the time. Just accept it and move on. There are 1000+ comments everytime saying “this is not a bargain”

        • -1

The number of up votes makes it a deal. Suck it up.

    • +1

One group that sees a deal in some of these posts - and I include myself in this - is roaming subscribers. I commented about this before. Seems like others see a deal too for other reasons, given the large number of positive votes for these posts.

      • +5

hardly anyone downvotes due to certain members jumping on them for having an opinion… neg voted as it is NOT a deal

        • No, I don’t think this is it at all. Say you insist it is not a deal, and someone else advanced a reason why it is a deal, you need to show why the other person’s opinion is wrong and why only yours is right. In order for your argument to stand.

Simply asserting it loudly is not sufficient. As they say, don’t raise your voice, improve your argument. I suspect that is why the neg votes for this kind of posts are getting fewer, as more people have provided reasons why they think it is a deal for them.

And BTW, it is not required that everyone must see it as a deal before it qualifies (just as with any other deal).

          • +1

@bluesky: i dont think it`s a deal, that is my opinion.. get over it

            • +2

@siresteelhell: Not sure there is anything to get over, since I have no interest in you. Had you not interacted with me, I wouldn’t even be replying to you. In that spirit of conversation, was why I shared my thinking – that your reason for why so few downvotes could be wrong.

              BTW I didn't downvote you - because generally I don't use downvotes.

        • agree, all Marvel goes to Disney + streaming, everyone knows this, Disney are also price jacking their sub service

Posters love to cherry pick the popular Movies/Shows to shit post, but never see any Emily in Paris or Bridgerton posts?

        • +1

hardly anyone downvotes due to certain members jumping on them for having an opinion…

Exactly - got a neg for asking a question out of curiosity 😐😐😐

  • +3

Thank you for posting this. I enjoyed the movie in cinemas and looking forward to a second viewing in 17 days.

    • I just want to see those creepy you know what scenes again. They were done so well.

  • -5

Where is the deal?/bargain? This is a paid for service, they always add movies after they have been in cinema…

    • +5

"I think it’s the fact that it might save some people a $25 movie ticket since it’s still in the cinemas if they realise they can wait a couple weeks and get it for free if they’re already a Disney subscriber"
      - @BLB1984

      • +3

they are winding it down at the cinemas… this was going to happen to 99% of popular movies anyway…+ you have to pay for Disney….its not a deal to everyone else who doesn`t…this should be in forums.. not a bargain

    • +2

Unfortunately this is what OzBargain has become. The worst part is the mods retract negative votes so the true feel of the community goes unheard.
Netflix releases movies basically everyday, before you know it OzBargain could just become flooded with new movie releases and nothing else.

      • 'before you know it OzBargain could just become flooded with new movie releases and nothing else.'

Yeah. One day this stupid prediction will be right. Anyday now.

        • Wednesday the 14th of May 2025 is the day it will happen.

      • The worst part is the mods retract negative votes

We have not retracted any negative vote in this post. There is 1 vote revoked, which is yours, and that was done by the community. From this comment which is -8.

        Guidelines

        "When negative votes are revoked:

The community casts a number of negative comment votes to any comment by the user casting the deal votes."

so the true feel of the community goes unheard

There have been 2 negative votes and 170 positive votes in this deal. 1 was revoked by the community (yours). Nothing is unheard.

    • It’s good to give a 29 day heads up for those planning on buying it soon on Bluray or digital

  • -3

No interest in Mavel stuff put +1 to annoy the 'not a deal, should be in forums' crowd

  • +2

    Marvel bros are so cringe.

  • Whoo hoo thankfully chose to watch Avatar 2 over Black Panther so will be able to watch this free on Disney+. Thanks OP!

Seems like there is no reason to watch a Disney movie at the cinema, it will be on Disney+ in no time at all.

    • +5

There no reason to watch any movie at the cinema, it will be on Netflix/Amazon/Disney+ in no time at all

      Fixed your comment

      • +2

cinema experience, big screen, big sound, atmosphere, reclining chairs, are yall ok

        • +2

Yes the cinema experience of paying minimum $30 for sticky floors, people talking in middle of movie, random mystery substances stuck on your seats

          • @illusion99: all part of going out.

the first and last thing you mentioned very rarely happen to me at all

            • @capslock janitor: People are the reason I don't like going out and prefer to just make my home setup the way I like it, including getting a huge outdoor cinema screen and projector. Also have recliners in my living room.

              • @Miss B: thats ok, i would prefer a home theatre too but havent the full means yet

looking for a projector & speakers + new soffa but i got stuff to rearrange at home first
i havent the headpsace to watch a movie in full sitting for many months

external cinema gives a change of scenery too and minor socialization needs

          • @illusion99: Plus 30 minutes of ads. Last time I went we watched multiple ads for the movie theatre WE WERE LITERALLY SITTING IN

            • @beefsandwich: idm their ads, you see whats on offer next and coming out. 30mins sounds like a stretch, i'd say 15-20 tops.

chill out, watch youtube, talk w friends, leave/come back in 10, buy outside snacks, get comfy

many ppl arrive 5-10mins later bc they know there's ads

          • @illusion99: And don’t forget petrol and paying for parking
