    • They vary, but all the ones I have repacked for the few Ozito tools that have that lasted were generic or less common rubbish cells, don't wast your money! have some respect for yourself and buy a quality brand, lower cost of ownership, I'm now embarrassed to think I purchased Ozito!

Need a good Ozito Lawn mower deal to match the Ferrex

    • Couldn't find a Ozito PXC mower that has been matched.

      • yeah they usually do it within 7 days of the other deal going live, hopefully soon.

        • +2

The Ozito PXC 36V (2 x 18V) 370mm Cordless Telescopic Lawn Mower Kit would be the equivalent, but still $399

        • Hopefully soon too - I want to get one for my parents to replace an old petrol one they struggle to start.

          • +2

@MrGareth: Ozito mower make sure you get the steel deck version. The all plastic ones are crap in comparison. Normal price is $399 or thereabouts, buy whenever you see as they vanish quick.

    • -1

No you don't… Ozito rubbish … Xfinity decent! do yourself a favour and have some respect for yourself, never again will I buy Ozito!

      • im using an Ozito corded mower and works fine

        • Yeah, sure, but what does that have to do with the Battery powered rubbish?

          • @Series4Episode10: i thought you meant Ozito in general is trash, i read your other comments, in which case the battery on the line trimmer from 2018 is still going fine.

also i dont care about the how it holds up, but more of Bunnings taking care of it without questions asked (in general) and price ofcourse.

but for battery like i said, my 2018 battery on the line trimmer is still holding up

            • +1

@kehuehue: I had before selling up most things and moving to FNQ some Ozito 240v stuff, mostly worked well, I wasn't using tools like I am now (daily on big projects) but even with light use the 18v stuff fails, 3 out of 7 tools still work that I have that I purchased on special before moving here, had a 240v rotary hammer drill, did some big jobs with it, worked well, a 240v circular saw, had a tendency to wander even with a quality blade, gave up on that!

Had a 12v multi tool, battery lasted for years, worked well … took 10hrs to charge

If your careful and charge them early like when 1 of the 3 leds goes out and don't get them hot they can be ok for home use, but the stuff is poorer quality than the Makita knock off stuff you get on banggood and aliexpress, and that stuff is cheaper! (don't buy Makita, or any knock off battery, those things will burn you, there's still burn marks on the wall of the shed from one and a melted charger)

There's youtube videos with guys pulling the stuff down and comparing it to genuine Makita and stating "good quality tool" I have both a Makita 125mm grinder and the knock off equivalent, one has cut off wheel the other grinding disk, the knock of tool has outlasted 2 Ozito 115mm grinders that were lightly used … the stuff is rubbish and I'm embarrassed I ever trusted it! and if I can save some people the horror of either returning it or sending it to landil, Job - Done should start a web site "Destroy my Ozito"

Not sure if still available (was clearance in selected stores), but the 2 batteries and two chargers for $70 was a great deal.

The $48.60 for the battery is to slightly beat Aldi at $50.

  • +3

Damn, not matching the huge Aldi battery with the 5.2, and not matching with the brushless circular?

    Hopeless by Bunnings

    • +2

Don't know why you are getting down voted, bunnings is happy to rip us off 10 months of the year when Aldi isn't selling and then match often with inferior products all round. The only reason people are down voting you is because they love the PXC range and the all year round warranty over the counter swaps. If it wasn't for that you'd be mad to go for the ozito over the Aldi tools, esp considering you can often find the Aldi ones discounted even further in the weeks after the sale

    • -4

Ozito = rubbish (truly truly awful) Xfinity = decent, not a single xfinity thing has let me down, been 5 yrs since I moved to FNQ almost 1k miles from closest Aldi and all still good, half Ozito stuff dead and all batteries repacked by myself with high current Samsung cells so I could keep using them, Ozito … woeful rubbish!

      • +4

I probably own close to a dozen Ozito PXC items and they all still work fine years on. A few items i wish would die as there are better versions now. Granted, i make sure i look into the item and make as informed a purchase as possible rather than on a whim but to call them rubbish is laughable nonsense. Especially when a lot of items go on sales, the value can be fantastic. Every brand has dud items, its the reality of how products are sourced and manufactured nowadays. I've had items from other more well respected brands i didn't suss out properly turn out to be duds, others just quality control failures, heck my worst item is a lawn mower from Aldi. Crap they offloaded into various markets then run off with our cash. Win some lose some.

Must've bought my 4ah battery five years ago and it doesn't seem to have deteriorated at all, despite some at-times pretty aggressive use.

  • Tempted by the vac as our Xiaomi Dreame V9 is crap now.

    • I have that Ozito vac and the Dreame V10, your V9 would have to be really crap to be comparable. I ended up buying the Ozito 18v wet dry vac to replace the V10, it's a lot bigger and not as powerful suction but cordless and infinitely better to be able to swap out batteries (v10 charges slow af) and not overheating after 2 minutes

      • Yeah somethings definitely not right with the V9. I might need a new filter or something but I get too frustrated to look at it.

Hoping the 2x18v blower is put on sale to match Aldi.

    • It would appear they have matched the Ferrex blower with the XU1 blower kit at $58.90, down from $79
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/xu1-18v-cordless-blower-kit_p039…

The XU1 comes with the battery, unlike the Aldi but it isn’t very comparable. The comparable Oztio single battery jet blower only comes in a kit form with 4.0Ah battery at $159 (I/N 0406048) and isn’t listed on the Bunnings website at the moment.

Why is Makita batteries never on a decent sale

    • -2

They are, the 5ah come up at $100 each delivered from Total Tools, Makita batteries are truly brilliant kit, pay a little extra and you lower your cost of ownership considerably, buy Ozito and you are the "poor man who buys twice"

  • The grinder is 115mm but there are not many 115mm blades. Will the 125mm blades fit in?

    • No, the only way to get them on is to leave the guard off, which is totally not advisable. If you want 125mm blades you are either going to have to go corded or spend up big. I would just go corded since you are fighting the laws of physics. My 110mm angle grinder only works for 10min on a 4ah battery, so if you can't do that job with a 110mm you probably need corded anyway

    • -2

No, 125mm is well catered for,the angle grinder is single brush motor, the brush holder melts destroying the commutator, the batteries don't last even when looked after, have some respect for yourself and buy a decent brand!

  • Picked up a couple at the Wangara store this afternoon. Was still 10-15 there but were all black box promo ones. Not sure if that stock shows up online. The regular red box ones were locked away in counter. Big sign on the batteries saying $48 though so they were prepared. Been waiting for this since i got the steel deck mower that holds four batteries.

  • -2

Have some respect for yourself and buy a decent brand, the batteries don't last even when charged early, the angle grinders are single brush and the brush holder melts destroying the comutator even with light short term use … never again will I buy this rubbish brand!

  • -3

Xfinity compared to Ozito, all my Xfinity stuff from 5 yrs ago still works including the batteries, … all original (kit bought 5 yrs ago) Ozito batteries dead and half the tools, even when carefully charged and kept out of direct sun (heat kills lithium) the Ozito batteries Die!

21 repetitive posts in this thread trashing Ozito, we get it mate. Did an Ozito battery steal your missus or something?

      • -3

No, most of my Ozito crap stole my joy, trying to save some fools from grief, free speech and all !

seriously Ozito should be brought to task, they must be making a good deal of $, the cheap Makita knock off tools leave Ozito for dead!

Don't buy the knock off Makita batteries, they will burn you, Literally!

This is the motor of the second 115mm Ozito angle grinder I wasted money on, barely used it and was careful with it, you can see the commutator with a white nylon bead on it, that's from the melted brush holder

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/bBCTY7ZWgiUVXboG7

the swarf is bits of whatever got ground up as it endoed, mainly brush material.

Your swarf isn't brush material. You can see in the pic how the swarf follows the magnetic field lines - it is especially easy to see at the edges of the vents.

Brushes are carbon, so the remains are not magnetic. Other brush parts are mostly copper, which is also not magnetic. Steel bits such as the brush springs are not possible to grind away to swarf without the motor stopping.

In my experience, there are two likely ways your grinder died.

External swarf making it into the motor.
The brushes then wear out, or unevenly, don't make proper contact, and the higher resistance causes overheating, which melts the brush holders.
I have the same grinder, and the design of the vents are the motor end mean you don't easily get material making it inside. It's not impossible though. More likely in my experience is that the grinder is sitting somewhere and gets sprayed with metal swarf from some other tool. I've done that myself, having it sitting on the ground while using a 240V grinder above it.

Or the swarf is from a dislodged magnet wearing away as the motor runs.
Like with external swarf, this eventually causes overheating because of brush damage.
You may have been unlucky and got a poorly made motor. Or it was dropped / suffered a major impact before you bought it, or after. Which cracked or dislodged some magnet material, which then got ground up over time. I used to use drill motors in combat robot building, and this was not uncommon. It could also be from general high temperature use or overheating leading to failed glue on the magnets.

Keep in mind that this is a pretty light duty grinder. It was recently $29.5, but even at $60 it's cheap. I have a 7 year old one still going strong - though the gearbox is a little noisy as the rubber coupler has seen better days. It's not designed for major grinding jobs (I know this, having used and abused it) and will happily get way too hot if pushed past what it is designed for over an extended period. But it's super handy for smaller jobs, or for keeping a specific cutting disk, flap disc etc on it, and using alongside a larger grinder.

It's not just metal swarf that will damage brushes. My original very used and abused reciprocating saw overheated and melted the brushes. Don't get me wrong, I was using it past its capabilities to cut through sections of hardware fence post when removing an old fence. But the motor vents are also much more exposed than the grinder. Enough fine hardwood sawdust inside, plus extended hard running, and the brush holders melted enough it stopping running. My fault, but Bunnings happily swapped it (4 years old at the time) for a new one, even when I said I overheated it.

Defend the undefendable, as I said wordy boy … the thing shat itself after little use, and it was the second one to do so …! was stupid enough to buy Ozito, out of 7 tools 3 still work and every carefully cared for battery has been repacked as they died, some of the tools died while I was fixing a campervan that I stumbled into, had a limited time to do so … crapped out on me when I could least afford it to and was over 200k's from a bunnings, poor man pays twice, the stuff is soon to be landfill! … have some respect for yourself and buy a decent brand as I learnt to … the hard and expensive way

        • Ozito drills are fine. I had the circular saw, the blade lasted a few cuts and the cuts are often not true. Never had an issue with the batteries and I never pamper any of them.

          • @gadget: Drills are fine are they?! you want to hear about the faulty drill in a set of 5 tools I stupidly bought? upon return the petty tyrant at bunnings wants to jerk me around over it … I'm thinking "Dude, I love wasting my time and money driving back to bunnings returning things WTF?!"… Shoulda known then … shoulda bundled it all up, brought it back and said "not fit for purpose" Poor Quality control as well!

            • @Series4Episode10: Faulty tools will always pop up no matter what brand. Poor CSR's at Bunnings will always be there. You just happen to have scored both at the same time.

              • -3

@gadget: Tell that to my Makita stuff, they laugh at you! … oh, and my 2 Makita knock off tools that I use EVERY day while I build my house (which I only started 3 months ago and why a year ago I woke up to myself and stated buying a quality brand.

But it goes for home use as well, you get what you pay for, which includes relief from failed tools and the hassle of returning the rubbish! or the indignation you feel when you realize for whatever reason you can't find the image of the receipt on google photos, or the utter frustration of the rubbish letting you down when you're over 200k's from the nearest bunnings!

NOTHING should fail at the rate Ozito PowerXchange rubbish does!

Wake up to yourselves, buy a quality brand (include Xfinity in that list) have some respect for yourselves, stop supporting a company that floods bunnings shelves with soon to be landil!

4 out of 7 total Ozito tools I have stupidly purchased are dead beyond economic repair, 2 angle grinders died with minimal light use, purchased years apart, so the design is the same, not fixed! rubbish!

        • +1

I am not questioning that it died. But magnetic swarf on the motor means your issue isn't just from overheating and the brushes disintegrating.

And yes, if you are 200 kms from a Bunnings, working in the heat of far north Queensland, then one of the smaller, cheaper battery angle grinders available is likely not a good choice.

Easy returns or swaps is one of the key things that makes Ozito extra attractive. But that is worthless if you can't utilise that benefit easily.

Brushless would be a better choice by the sounds of your usage. And certainly other brands are better quality. No one is suggesting Ozito is the best quality. It's decent for the price, and based on most peoples experiences here, better quality than expected. But knowing you can swap it for a band new one easily is part of the drawcard, even if you never use that option.

There's a reason why the Makita equivalent to the Ozito is more than 3 times the price.

That said, it's worth testing gear while still in the store carpark when your trek is that long. Someone I used to work for swore by AEG gear, but had a bunch of failures from brand new tools on a job site far away from anywhere they could replace them. It's rare but happens with all brands. There's no way to know if they got baked in a shipping container at very high temps for a long period, or subject to shock or vibration that has caused issues. Or just a bad batch no caught by QC.

          • -3

@Prong: Whatever, does not change the fact it's dead and all ozito rubbish is rubbish and you fools are stupid for supporting the sh!thouse dead beat company

            • +1

@Series4Episode10: I base my continued decision to buy Ozito PXC tools on my extensive experience with the tools, as well as doing specific testing of things like battery capacity over time.

Ozito PXC is rebadged Einhell PXC, so I have no problem with the companies either.

  • I have the https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-36v-2-x-18v-370mm-cord… and it is gutless stall on slightly long grass after a down pour. I also purchased the brushless ozito steel deck mower (promo item) not in stock at the moment and that is miles better. The only gripe would be that it does not have a low setting. Could be a design issue to make it easier on the self propulsion.

I also have the ozito 5 piece kit and the angle grinder and circular saw are junk. The drill is pathetic at best. The impact wrench and the led torch is the only things I use from the kit. I have a milwaukee kit now and it works way better but comes at 5 times the price.

The ozito blower https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-blower-sk… and cordless shop vac https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-wet-and-dry-vacuum… are probably the best ozito items I own and use regularly.

    • That 18v Ozito blower gets a lot of use at my place. Helpful to blow all the dirt etc out of the car as well.

    • +2

Who mows their lawn "after a downpour"???

    • -1

Have the shop Vac, live off-grid and bought it as I'd repacked my dead PowerXchange batteries so I could keep using the last of my Ozito stuff that hasn't yet failed, thing works well IMO, I change the battery after about 3 mins of use to save the batteries, it draws a heap of current, the batteries are hot after 3mins and need resting before charging, and I repacked the batteries with high discharge current Samsung cells, but it sucks stuff up well.

Bought the 5 piece kit also, absolutely the worst investment I've ever made, the grief the stuff has given me!

I find the Ozito saw ok for rough cuts, except for the guard jams and is unsafe, with the repacked batteries it rarely stalls, had to use it as I bought an older Makita Circ saw and the brushes recently needed replacing, that thing cuts for ages and when I measure the charge left in the battery it's only dropped by about 1/2 volt.

  • Still no mower. Sad. Got to Aldi just as their last mower kit was sold.

    • -3

Lucky you, the stuff is utter rubbish!
