    Excellent movie

  • -1

    7.0/10

    • +1

From me it gets a 5.5. Average.

      • +1

The trailer made it seem like it was going to be so much better.

    • +3

7/10 is a pretty good rating for horror.

      • +3

Exactly horror and comedy always have a slightly lower rating on average.

    • +1

That's pretty good compared to the average movie these days. Especially on Netflix.

  • +20

    Conan prequel?

  • +2

I want to watch this but I'm scared :'(

  • Are there any jump scares?

    • +1

You should watch it and find out šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰

    • +7

      Nah none at all šŸ‘€

    • A couple yes

  • +5

Great movie, the trailer doesn't give away too much so it's safe to watch it.

  • +1

Ending was ridiculous, made no sense. Ruined the entire movie for me.

    • +22

Genuinely surprised the down votes are for the quality of the content and not just ā€œRAR RAR subs arenā€™t dealsā€¦ā€

    • -4

You didn't understand what the movie was trying to say

    • +1

Ok tip is donā€™t watch ending

    • +4

Most movies especially horror don't make sense if you apply real world thinking to them.

      • +4

The fact is they can't make a good scary movie without having people taking stupid decisions.

    • +1

Lol this aint ratings for the movie lol

    • +2

If they re-wrote the fall scene somehow, it would score an extra one or two out of ten, as bad as it sounds I felt I was watching an infomercial in the cinema after that sequence, I was completely detached from the movie.

Felt the movie was quite good before that point

    • +4

Yea ending was a bit weird with the cameo from Arnie saying "ill be back!"

  • -5

    This was horrible

    • +10

      Barbaric?

    • +1

      I thought it was overrated.

    • +2

it wasnt great imo but horrible is a stretch
still better than the most horror movies and at least it's entertaining and had some uniqueness to it which i found to be a nice change of pace in a very saturated genre

also the acting and writing is a lot better than your average horror movie

      • Is Barbarian similar to "Men" and "Resurrection"?

I didn't really enjoy those. They were trying to be real cerebral but in the end they both just climaxed with the "I'm cumming, I'm cumming" scene towards the end.
Acting etc was great, but as an overall film they just were not for me.

        • Barbarian is a great horror film with a straightforward story, ignore the negative reviews. I did not like either Men or Resurrection for the same reason you mentioned.

          • +1

@theory: Thanks for the reply theory. Compared to The Menu and Knock at the Cabin, I was still on the fence with Barbarian.
I will definitely give it a watch then. Don't have Disney plus but when it comes to other places.

    • +6

Horrible: from the Latin horribilis, which ultimately derives from the Latin verb horrēre, meaning ā€œto trembleā€ or ā€œto bristle with fearā€.

      thanks for sharing

Try deleting your browser cookies; and then logging back in.

Sometimes they get corrupted, and it leads to weird config changes like that.

      • I am only logged on Firestick. Tried logging out all devices and changing password several times. Yet someone still accesses my account and Disney support is useless.

        • Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Disney+ app?

It could be that its config file's gone a bit wrong, and removing the app will fix it.

(Sorry, don't have a Firestick so I don't know much about them)

          • @jong: But then how do you explain all these items showing as watched on my list.

        • Your Firestick is compromised perhaps? Try logging out on all devices using your phone then changing your password on your phone and not using Disney+ for a few days. Then check if Disney+ gets "hacked" again.

I think you can check for a list of devices that used Disney+ in the settings too.

          • @camelthief: I have tried that too. And Hacker was still
able to access account with even triggering the 2FA email which is puzzling.

Unlike Netflix, Disney+ doesnā€™t show list of logged devices and their useless support donā€™t provide that info without a request from police!!

        • Changed password to be randomly different and not just change the last number? Try changing it from a different laptop if you can, maybe youā€™ve got malware on some. Any other service compromised like this?

          • @soan papdi: Only Disney+ compromised. I tried your suggestions previously by changing password to a complex random one on iPhone still the same outcome.

    • +1

This used to happen to me the first month of signing up with them, in my case it was German language šŸ¤£ it sorted itself out and hasnā€™t happened again.

      • +1

Itā€™s not only about the language. The watched list is full of watched crap thatā€™s been watched by the hackers.

        • +3

I recommend you change your password. Ozbargain was easy to guess mate

    • +2

      Hola

    • Have you tried enabling a Profile Pin? Won't stop them changing the language unfortunately.

      • Does the profile pin stop watching all content?

        • +2

Does the profile pin stop watching all content?

I think youā€™re confusing this with content ratings restriction. Setting this pin would allow you to restrict what the ratings that you allow for people to watch (from G to R

The other pin that is mentioned is the profile pin:

Set a 4-digit Profile PIN to restrict others from accessing your profile on Disney+

This restricts users from entering your profile without first entering the pin that you have set

    • R u loosing anything valuable?

  • +1

    Very entertaining.

  • +1

One of my favourite movies from last year!

  • -1

Good movie, on par with the Smile.

    • -5

Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad

    • +2

I personally rated Smile as a better movie; was dissatisfied with both endings though

      • +1

        100% agree
Friends and I ended up driving across town to another theatre to watch Smile after being disappointed by Barbarian. Both have bad ending acts, but Smile was by far our pick of the two.

      • Me too, but I was prepared to watch and forget. Didn't expect them to be memorable like the Get Out.

  • +3

Interesting to see how polarising this movie can be? Watched it with a group of friends and we all disliked it a fair bit. The overall reception online seemed to be quite positive though.
I understood the message, but it missed the mark on execution for me. Yeah, the underlying premise is gross but they donā€™t do much more with it. Probs wouldnā€™t call it that scary either, more suspenseful instead.
There are definitely worse movies streaming though.

    • Not all horror movies are scary movies.

  • -1

Coochie coochie mum will take care of the little babies. Make sure you feed the babies with milk!

    • +1

Well, Disney is being quite open nowdays about their interest in making young children their entertainment… oops, I mean, making their entertainment for young children (no, I don't really).

  • +10

Not a deal. These services add and delete content continuously. Would be good to see a post summarising all.

    • Disney paid like 100 billion dollars for Fox. I don't think they are going to be deleting this movie.

  • +2

    bhullsh*t muvi

  • +3

    It seemed original to me.

It felt like a good movie to me, perhaps a teensie bit predictable in some areas but overall I thought it was pretty decent.

  • +1

I really liked how the trailers made the plot premise seem straightforward, but wasn't in unpredictable ways
A lot of quality depth added with unexpected backstories instead of horrors usual ad hoc hammering out of plot points

  • +5

I quite enjoyed the film, although I still think Arnold Schwarzenegger was more believable as the main character in the original version.

    • Thatā€™s called Conan

      • The Barbarian. ā€˜Theā€™ itself means Conan movie is the real deal than this one.

  • Any other horror recommendations?

    • +1

I am watching all the recommended, nearly one at day, and they are never up to the hype. Black phone is fine but don't expect to be scared.

      • Yep, I thought black phone was more of a thriller than horror. But it's not bad

      • "Black phone is fine but don't expect to be scared."

What about "Sinister". Also with Ethan Hawke.

I haven't seen it for awhile but it's highly rated. Can't remember exactly what it was about but it involved snuff films and the paranormal I think.

        • Last time I was shocked, not scared, was for Martyrs, that I advice not to watch because it is too much and I wish I listened to the ones saying not to watch it. It shows the horrors that can hide inside any house, more real than paranormal and monsters. But, again, don't go there

          • @Laziofogna: "Last time I was shocked, not scared, was for Martyrs,"

Yes I know that film. The ultra rich are secretly cruelly torturing and bringing people to the moment of death and not letting them die. Over and over and over to try to learn more from them about what happens after death. Yes the gore and pain is difficult to watch, but I found the story interesting.

            • @harshbdmmaster718: There was no reason to spoil it for people that never watched it. Very low.

              • @Laziofogna: Well to make a point. I was told a similar thing you said from most people, that it is shocking/vile and just 100 minutes of torture porn with no explanation and not to watch it.
So based on that I didn't have any interest in watching it. Until someone told me the backstory covering the topics of truth/evil/humanity that's when I was actually interested in watching it. So yeah knowing the story made me want to watch it, and I think it will be the same for other people who don't like the typical cheap gore/horror movie thrills (seems like most people here think of Barbarian as a actual good movie not just cheap gore/horror).
I am talking about the original 2008 version by the way, not the remake.

If I have any recommendation for you for films like Martyrs I recommend 8MM and Taxidermia. Don't worry I won't spoil the story for you.

    • +1

      Pearl
      Terrifier 2

    • Trick r treat

    • Hereditary is the best I've seen in a while.

    • The Menu is great

      • The menu is shocking not what I expected

    • Get Out.

    • X

  • +1

Bit of a meh out of 10, watchable at least

  • A better movie is "I Came By"

  • -1

Been on for a bit, but coincidentally rewatched last night. Upvote for the movie, moreso than the D+ post, loved this and Smile, which came out around the same time.

  • +9

    This isnā€™t a deal

    • +11

Once again…another non deal…people should have to opt in to see these posts instead of people having to opt out of seeing non bargains on ozbargain

      • They should at least have a SUBS tab that has all this type of stuff on there. Not under the DEALS tab as there is no deal to be had here..

      • +4

This, absolutely. There is no bargain. Why is a non-bargain on Ozbargain?

    • +1

Atlanta is on Disney now, awesome TV show but I donā€™t feel the need to post about it

  • +5

Great movie. It completely changes tone half way through with a satisfying ending. Highly recommended.

    • +1

      Argh ..

  • +1

The best horror of 2022 was inflation.

  • +1

Smile was better than this one

  • +2

    Don't believe the hype.
