  • Assuming this works for anyone (non-ING customers)? Just need to open an Orange Everyday account?

    • Yes. As per T&C:

"The $200 bonus will be paid as a rebate into your Orange Everyday account within 60 days of meeting the criteria. Existing ING customers who currently hold an Orange One credit card are not eligible for this offer."

    • +1

What do you reckon you'll be when you open an orange everyday account? I'd say you're an ING customer

      • +2

It seems you’re only ineligible if you have the ing credit card already, right?

  • +1

Couldn't see it in the terms and conditions, but would a 12 month exclusion apply if you've previously owned this card before?

    • You are right. No mention of 12 months exclusion. Just the mention of current Orange One credit card holders not eligible.

    • +2

youll cancel your card and reapply just for bonus money?

  • Just opened new everyday account yesterday, can not find the information in application after inputting promotion code.

    • Credit card account only.,but not the debit account..

    • If you click on apply -> select existing customer -> Login and then takes you to card application page

      • Thanks, I applied Suncorp one instead.

        • why?

        • @Toddtian because it give bigger bonus, right? hmm thinking the same

        • What's the link to the SunCorp one?

Seems light on details, terms, and I didn't find it on the website?

  • +4

Pass. Will need more than $200 to entice me to incur a notch on the credit file.

    • +10

      How about $201?

    • +1

200.01 would do the trick I say

      • ONLY DEAL in CASH. That's the ozbargain way. 200.05 it is then.

      Jetskiing with a lion?

    • +9

How does this negatively affect credit? Honest question new to this stuff

      • -1

More credit apps - lower credit score, for unsecured debt.
However, credit card churn with clean payment history is OK every 12 months.

        • So, churning doesn't require credit apps? Fascinating

      • +6

I churned 4 cards last year, my credit score didn't change…. I really don't understand how the credit checks work and how they impact your credit rating…

        • +2

It barely does unless you’re doing absurd amounts of enquiries. People worry over a few points fluctuating are stupid.

Everyone acts like they need 900+ score every day for life or something. Only time it matters is when you get a home loan and how often are you gonna do that in your life time

Just pay your shit on time and it’s always going to be in the green.

          • @jno:

when you get a home loan and how often are you gonna do that in your life time

Wouldn't that be fairly often given that ppl usually refinance every year or so?

            • +2

@wildstone: Are people really refinancing that often? You would think that would affect it more than a cc every now and then. But honestly i work at the bank and see peoples credit reports often and most of the time we dont care about credit enquiries, we prioritise defaults and anything you are hiding from us than how many applications for cc’s you’ve done. All that matters is good conduct with your payments etc

Edit: i personally churn whenever theres a good deal usually 1-2 a year and my report always floated around 800-900s and never has changed

            • @wildstone: I don't think people are refinancing that often… it's quite a lot of work putting together the application.

        • I churned 6 times in the last 12 months and my credit score went up.

        • +1

It's a mystery that these elite gave us, isn't it ?

      • A bit of my 2c

You can create an account on clear score to check your score and current cc you owned. Not sure how people have their score up with couples of cc, for me, i always paid up the due amount on time, and my credit score got pulled down once i have another cc.
One thing I noticed that when you have Zip pay, it wont be shown in the credit report, making me assume that Zip doesn’t check and report it under your name( good stuff for a standby cc)

"include promo code Family200 if you're family or a friend."
    Family or friend of who?

    • +4

      The OZB family :')

  • +7

Seems like a free $200. I'll take it. Thanks OP

    • Did everything needed according to the T&Cs. I suppose we see if this comes through in the next 60 days. The rates on the savings maximiser are pretty appealing.

  • Good to keep this card for international transaction without any AF. Credit limit requirement is low too so definitely feels like a keeper. Not sure how quick and easy the approval process is though. Has any one applied for this card before?

    • +2

Good to keep this card for international transaction without any AF.

How often are you making purchase that require international transaction? You need to be eligible the month before you make the purchase e.g. meet the requirements in March for no international transaction fees in April.

      No ING International Transaction Fees
when you shop online and overseas. Simply deposit $1,000+, like your pay into your Orange Everyday transaction account each month and make 5+ eligible settled card purchases (not pending) every month.

    • +1

Would you recommend this over the OG 28degrees card? I don't like how they are a fee (even though it's minimal) for bpay payments.

      • Their latitude app helps with bank transfer, no fee.

        • +10

it also helps transfer your personal details to 3rd parties now.

      • Not sure ing was charging for bpay. If you have ing bank account you should be able to pay off your credit card balance directly I believe.

        • They are talking about latitude 28 degrees card which charges 50c (I think) per bpay.

I have 28D card and never have any issue using their no fee payment system to pay back the credit card.

    • -2

ING's conversion rates can easily eat up about 5% of your money in the "fee free" conversion. Better use Wise if you are spending more than a few bucks in foreign currency.

      • +3

Not sure what you are talking about, it’s a VISA card so uses VISA’s exchange rate.

      • +2

ING uses the true Visa conversion rate. I use both and Wise can be slightly better rate at times, but also can be much worse rates than ING. At-least with ING its possible to know the exact charge with the visa conversion. I notice it is at night, likely when the rates are down, and as Visa only changes once a day it can be beneficial to use ING.

    • Just a word of caution about their international transaction fee rebate - you need to make 5 eligible transactions from either your ING debit or credit card in the current month to quality for the rebates for the following month. So if you're new to ING, make sure you make 5 eligible local transactions (as well as meet the $1000 deposit requirement) and only start making international ones the following calendar month.

  • What kind of purchases are considered as eligible? Any kind?

    • +1

"Eligible purchases does not include cash transactions (including cash withdrawals from an ATM or over the counter at a bank or cash provider, pseudo cash transactions e.g. gambling, mobile phone top ups and foreign currency and travellers cheques), any purchases refunded, interest, default charges, insurance premiums and other fees and charges debited to your Orange One Account, and any BPay transactions or transactions made which result in spending that exceeds the credit limit it any one month."

    • +1

You can go to coles/woolies and split payment 1c 5 times to meet the requirements.

It can get tedious to do this every month.

      • +2

Why do I have to do this every month? Isn't the reward a once off thing?

  • I’m with ING, can I apply for myself?

    • +1

Yes. You should not currently have Orange One Credit card. I did apply and got conditional approval. To receive the $200 bonus you need to have an Orange Everyday account. Hope this helps!

  • +7

$200 is not that bad honestly, Worth the credit enquiry IMO. Especially given no minimum spend. Not much fuss either.

    • Do you need pay slips etc?

      • To answer my own question.. yes.. payg are required..

  • +1

it didnt say in the website about this deal?

    • Because its a family and friends offer, most likely only shared internally

      • Ok, thanks , so no deal for me then

        • Why not? Just enter the promo code Family200 when asked. OzBargain is your Family and Friends!

          • @donotuse: I phoned the ing, apprently it's target deal was told , so no email received from ing then I am not eligible

  • +2

Instant decline on my application :(

    • Damn…

Are you an existing customer? / Have many other credit cards?

      • No / 1

    • +2

Yeah it (profanity) with your credit score now makes other things harder. I signed up for a St George card via one of these OzB and got declined. I fought it for over a year and got no where. Huge waste of time and energy and mental capital. I was decent income, no debt, plenty of assets, very little expenses. Not worth the hassel.

    • +1

I hear it usually happens when the system picks up a lot of churning. when was your last CC application and cancellation?

      • I think that's what happened to me. Churned 5 CC straight and now I get declined from new CC applications.

        • I think it really depends on how strict the banks are actually. I got declined by Citi and St.George 2-3 times each on different cards but still got approved by Westpac, ANZ and CBA. I think Big4 banks' criteria are much easier than foreign + small local banks.
For Citi after 3 tries one day I used a different email (all other info were same) and surprisingly got approved for a card lol so you never know.
I won't try St.G since their criteria is quite strict and there's no work around. Their cards are not that good anyway.
I churn 4-5 cards each year btw.

          • +1

@lloydXC: I've read that St.George has high decline rate unless you already have an account with them.

Start with an everyday account first and then after a week or 2 apply for the credit card.

  • does it have any rewards or any other benefit?

are there any no annual fee credit card with some sort of rewards or benefit?

  • Would this be good for a first credit card?

    • +1

Only if u can pay off your full balance each month. Otherwise you will pay interest, which is a very bad idea.

    • Only if you can't meet other cards' spending requirement.

This could be a good one to start with if you can spend $1500 in 90 days: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737001

Pay no international transaction fees for purchases you make overseas or online
Included international travel insurance, simply activate before you travel

  • Eligibility: Permanent residents or citizens only.

    • And from my pissed-off experience, you also need to be a resident citizen.

  • Boo.

I have to call them lame.

  • How does this compare to the Bankwest Zero Platinum Mastercard? I currently use this for international purchases and while travelling. It looks like they both have no international fees. I currently use ING everyday, so I jump through the hoops monthly. I don't use the Bankwest travel insurance since they cut the benefits.

  • +1

Anyone know if you can cancel this card after getting the $200? Not a fan of credit cards

    • +5

No, you are stuck with it for life </s>

      • +1

Sorry I should've been more clear, it was around fees. Had a quick look in the terms and couldn't see anything solid.

  • Is there a card out there with no annual fee or a small fee that offers FF points (Qantas or Virgin)? I was on a home loan package that offered credit card but have had to move to another lender to save on interest fees. Package doesn't include a credit card.

    • +1

For no annual fee, there is American Express Essential. There's not many no annual fee rewards one, the other ones I know are ColesMyers and Kogan. Curious if I missed any.

  • What are the eligible transactions?

  • Qantas points hacks are the only reason to get a CC. A free first class flight every year aint that bad

    • +3

Can you elaborate the hacks please.

      • +2
        1. Apply for card with signup bonus of Qantas Points.
        2. Make the minimum spend, making sure to pay off the balance in full every month.
        3. Wait for the points to get credited to your Qantas account.
        4. Cancel card.
        5. Repeat with another bank.
        6. Wait 12 months.
        7. Repeat with the first bank.
        • I wouldn't call that a hack. Just normal way to apply credit card, spend tge required ampunt to get the bonus points, cancel the card and move to next bank.

  • +3

This may be targeted because I can't see any terms and conditions anywhere.
