      yes in general true, but yeh needed for frail/elderly.. or those with difficulty swallowing (example motor neuron disease)

      The Amazon packaging it comes in, as well as likely the plastic packaging for the straws themselves inside the Amazon package is also a factor. Wouldn't be surprised if there is further plastic packaging involved behind the scenes too.

      Straws aren't the highest environmental cost compared to other things for sure, but everything adds up. Only worthwhile if you need it due to a disability that means you can't drink from a cup, even just talking bargain-wise.

          If you used them once. But you don't - there's definitely a crossover point where the environmental impact is less. Best is just sipping from the cup if you're able to.

          I'd imagine that 1,500 plastic straws is probably worse than a single bamboo, metal, glass, or silicone straw. And certainly much less expensive than this deal, being a bargain website!

              Why would you need 1500 or even 100 then? Better off taking one from a cafe for free, and you'll be good for years to come.

              If you're sincere, not sure whether these are necessarily rated to be cleaned and reused without you ending up ingesting microplastics.

    Straws all the way for me, they come sealed and even though the paper ones are useless, I only drink my drink at the end of the meal so it only needs to last about 1 minute, like the pimply faced kid above.

    I find that after using metal straws for a while these plastic straws have a weird taste to them. Could have been just a bad batch of straws that I had leftover, but now I mentally associate them with the unpleasant taste and try to avoid them if I can.

    I rarely sympathize with those who complain a lot about these sort of things but I cannot comprehend why so many people act as if using a paper straw is the end of the world. I've never had an issue once and if I did I'd just take the lid off and drink it normally.
