Spriggy - Increased Referral Benefit ($40 Each for Referrer and Referee)

13924

Free money! Increased referral bonus is live for June. Use the OzBargain referral randomiser below to sign up.

Spriggy is some financial app for parents/kids that gives them a physical prepaid Visa card so they can spend all your money. Love it or hate it, they're giving you $40 to try it.

Sign up, get a physical card, top it up ($10 min) and make a purchase on it to get the referral bonus.

They don't perform any form of KYC on your kids (obviously) so you know, you don't have to miss out if you don't have kids.

From the terms and conditions:

June 2023 promotion. Notwithstanding the immediately preceding paragraph, if the Eligibility Criteria is met between 1 June 2023 and 30 June 2023 (inclusive), for each Referred Member, you will receive $40 (rather than $20) paid into your Parent Wallet (or if the referrer is a Child, into your Prepaid Card). Each Referred Member will also receive $40 (rather than $20) paid into their Parent Wallet.

Spriggy is not a free service.

Mod 5/6 4pm: Referrals have been changed to PM only, as Spriggy does not allow sharing on deal sites, see comments. Please PM your friend on OzBargain to ask for a referral code.

      That spelling should be illegal.

      • Why? Should I tell my parents to change my name? 🙃

  • I like pie.

  • +11

Do not create 2 accounts (1 for you and 1 for your partner). My account got flagged due to same address and they now want address verification document and document for each kid's DOB.

They don't appear to any privacy policy link in their responses or email request so quite reluctant here

    • Correct! did the same, now the other account requires verification lol

    • Same here, they want a Medicare card showing Kids name and parent name.

      • Are you providing the documents?

        • +2

I will but will cover any unnecessary info etc Medicare card number

    • Lucky i have a few addresses lol

      • Post box?

      • Same could we use a rental investment as my wife’s address?

    • Same but it’s our choice if each parent handles a kid each. That’s what we do on the Kit app.

  • Thanks Ramu!

  • Denis, enjoy your $40.

  • Enjoy $40 jecec.

  • +1

    Thanks Oscar!

Knew that NAB debit card would come in handy (even though it has zero balance on it). I wonder if Ubank also works to cover the first year?

    Hopefully an easy $40.

    Thanks OP!

  • Daniel is raking it in. There are 5 thanks already, and there will probably be some that didn't comment. Don't think the referral system is all that random lol.

    • lucky Daniel. I got no one. 😢

    • Yep Daniel got mine as well, mans making bank

      • +6

Maybe there are a few guys name Daniel here

        • +3

The Karate Kid was a popular movie back in the 80's

    • I wish.

      • Ended up getting Daniel J 🤣

Maybe if all Daniel's unite we could take over the world? (don't read that if you're not a Daniel)

  • Zamri $40 coming your way!

  • Enjoy $40 Sarah!!

  • +1

Maybe a stupid question, but do they run a credit check? I plan to get a home loan later this year, don't want to affect my borrowing power.

    • +1

      They definitely don't.

  • Serena hopefully will be happy!

For once NAB is useful. Can't wait for my Star Wars Debit card.

  • I'm travelling overseas for a few months. Is there a way to get the card number remotely without having someone sift through my mail?

    • Nah, card details aren't revealed in the app at all.

I believe the trial doesn't start until you activate the card though, so it should be waiting for you in your return I guess?

  • Hi How to check if anyone successfully registered using my link in the app ?

    • Can't.

  • How to get the $40 referral and the nab 1yr free?

Which link i will use to open an account?

    • Use any referral link to sign up, just link your NAB account or card as your first linked account for it to be automatically applied.

  • Where to see you acutally have the $40 when i sign up. Sorry this is my first time using this app.

    • To claim your referral bonus* you’ll need to:
      - Connect an account and top up your Parent Wallet
      - Activate your child’s Spriggy prepaid VISA card
      - Make a purchase with the Spriggy card

  • Damm sAw this when it was 5 referrers. Didn't sign up and now it's over 400

    Boo missed out

    • Guess how many clicks on my ref link 😂

      • How many. I have 10

      • If you were first few then around 40click

      • 18.5 hours and got 0. 😂
        No love for me

      • +3

@easternculture: There’s getting a deal and there’s abusing a deal. You ruin it for everyone else.

            • +2

@bobwokeup: Pretty bad manner to assume that. I never abused them.
It was when we were allowed to post our referral links before it changed to random. Although the new ozb referral system is not completely random as it appears to favor original poster at least 5:1

            • +1

@bobwokeup: Coles / Flybuys dog food was a steal and it isnt abusing it. Some people wanted to buy 10000s of cans of dog food ;)

              • +1

@Turd: Whats this about dog food lol

                • +1

@easternculture: Basically flybuys was giving everyone $3 worth of points if you bought one can of dog food.
So that's like 300% profit on one item.

I should have just double or triple scanned the items lol but wasnt too dodgy.

So if you bought 1000 cans you would be getting $3000 worth of points. to use on future groceries.

                  • @Turd: Lol when was this

At the moment i have 15x points (3 stacking offers on flybuys) but cant find any decent offer like this to stack with haha

          • +1

@easternculture: @easternculture - sorry for the noob question, but I assume you have to keep your account active after 30 days to keep claiming the $40 referrer bonus? For e.g. I activated on 4th June, my referral activates and does purchase on 5th July, hence my 30 days has elapsed and on the 31st day I'm charged $60.

OFC a minor concern if you've got 10 or 100x referrals, but I'm not sure how many referrals I'll get through the OZB generator, but also wondering if it'll be worth it keeping the account active beyond the 30 days.

            • @nsingh21: Free 30 days from activation.
Once purchase is made, we still do not know when they will deposit the funds.
Then $5 per month (i assume billing is monthly).
If you have a nab classic account on nab debt card, link one for free 12 months + 30 day trial

              • @easternculture: According to one of OP's previous comments, the bonus was paid almost as soon as the conditions were met.

And billing is annually not monthly.

              • @easternculture: Thanks @easternculture, my assumption was that they'll bill annually since they explicitly state the fees as annual rather than monthly. $5 is just a backward calc to show how its a small amount when considered M2M, but I'll try and to reach out to them to confirm this.

Yeah, I guess getting a NAB classic account might be worth it for this purpose haha.

        • Wow! I need to up my OzBargain game. What was the old Macbank referral?

  • Thanks Sarah!

  • $40 coming your way Ron.

  • So can 1 parent get an account for a child and the other parent get an account for the 2nd child, at the same address??

    • We aren't. It is random and hidden

      • The "Distribution to strangers" term and "third party deal or discount site" will probably mean all referrals will be null and void.

        • I hope they have a plan on sorting out all the referrals I made to my local parents group I'm in after I saw this offer. They aren't strangers.

          • @cooni: They can easily just go by the time the deal is posted and cancel by the influx of new users from that. Hopefully you'll get to keep your previous referrals before that time.

            • +1

@RotundPolarBear: They may encounter a lot of negative people on the internet if they did this

              • @turk182: Doubt they care about the leechers and vultures on this site who only signed up for the referral bonus (me included).

                • @RotundPolarBear: That would be everyone who ever used the referral system. Why would they even offer it

            • @RotundPolarBear: I saw the offer, posted to OzBargain, and also posted to parents group.

              I'm sure others did too.

              • +2

@cooni: Might have been best not to post on here tbh, too many parasites. You can even see some people above who try to setup multiple accounts to take advantage of the offer. It always happens. People take the piss, Just ruins it for everyone.

                • @RotundPolarBear: I found out about this app here and then share it with people i know after.

                  Good for marketing I reckon.

                • @RotundPolarBear: No, I prefer to share the love. This site would be nothing if everyone kept deals to themself

                  • -1

@cooni: Dont think there have any intention to pay you, since you already declared 150 ticks, they probably know who you are lol

And @Adyb just signed up to ozbargain to make the comment above so looks like they have already made the decision

                    • @easternculture: Indeed sadface. That said, they can't just deny all referrals in the period because there were sure to be plenty that didn't breach any rules.

                      • -2

@cooni: They can track all signups from ozb.

For me, i clicked a link. Then copied it and opened it in incognito after resetting IP address.

Had a feeling something like this would happen

      • @Turd, He means post the deal on ozb is against t&c.
They can see all the traffic coming from ozb

    • +2

Posting of referral links are banned on OzBargain and are actively deleted by moderators

    • So will you be honoring the deal or not paying out referrals

    • +4

They are definitely entitled to pull the deal from here on, and perhaps send out a new email to say due to popularity they will no longer honour new referrals from date x, and close off the referral landing page. Although who knows, going viral could be a good thing too.

I imagine as an AFSL they will need to honour their promises for referrals to date. I don't think "oh sorry we pulled the deal retrospectively because it was published on a third party website" will quite cut it at AFCA. That reads similar to oh thanks for deposit, we changed our mind now and will keep the money, not cool in financial services and may mean the end of a venture.

    • +1

For the record, the people I referred are my family. They just coincidentally got me as part of the 'Referral Randomiser' which I do admit is quite coincidental but nevertheless they're not strangers.

Should be interesting to see if Rivva Pty Ltd honours these referrals and takes this as a learning lesson, or doesn't honour them and basically receives a fair amount of backlash (Bad reviews + other online backlash etc) which could very well sink their business in this tough economy. They could very well be 'Ozbargained' into oblivion if they make the wrong choice. Tough decision indeed.

      • Worst case scenario, they would limit the referrals to x number i reckon. Keeps everyone happy.

    • So you’d rather not get more customers from this post? Like others have said the referral link is never posted, it’s random so it’s promoting your company!!

      • Lets be real. No one here is going to be a customer. We're just here for the free money. No need for the Karen attitude

        • -1

Okay Kevin. Free fees for a year with NAB is a good reason to stay.

    • Here comes the mole.

    • I shared my referral link via whatsapp to my brother who signed up for his twins, is this consodered bulk email, spam, stranger or third party site?

Am I the one violating or is Spriggy the one violating your own terms and conditions?

  • +7

The terms state that to comply you "must not:

Listen here, Spriggy, we are the captains now.

  • Thanks Alexandra

    • -1

Still going. What are you talking about?

  • +2

Anyone know what's the minimum purchase to be eligible for the bonus? TA

  • It says $40 gift from Chanel on mine, not cash.
