Spriggy - Increased Referral Benefit ($40 Each for Referrer and Referee)

13924

Free money! Increased referral bonus is live for June. Use the OzBargain referral randomiser below to sign up.

Spriggy is some financial app for parents/kids that gives them a physical prepaid Visa card so they can spend all your money. Love it or hate it, they're giving you $40 to try it.

Sign up, get a physical card, top it up ($10 min) and make a purchase on it to get the referral bonus.

They don't perform any form of KYC on your kids (obviously) so you know, you don't have to miss out if you don't have kids.

From the terms and conditions:

June 2023 promotion. Notwithstanding the immediately preceding paragraph, if the Eligibility Criteria is met between 1 June 2023 and 30 June 2023 (inclusive), for each Referred Member, you will receive $40 (rather than $20) paid into your Parent Wallet (or if the referrer is a Child, into your Prepaid Card). Each Referred Member will also receive $40 (rather than $20) paid into their Parent Wallet.

Spriggy is not a free service.

Mod 5/6 4pm: Referrals have been changed to PM only, as Spriggy does not allow sharing on deal sites, see comments. Please PM your friend on OzBargain to ask for a referral code.

got a msg asking for kids name and medicare card. had it in my name before…

  • +2

They want proof of my kids name, trying to get out of all the ozb referrals.

  • +2

Same for me as Cave Fire and vodamerc.
What's disappointing is they want my Medicare card, Child's DOB and a utility bill. They don't say how they're going to use them, how long they will store them for, whether they will be securely stored and when they will delete them. Their privacy policy is vague.

As this is in breach of our Spriggy Refer a Friend Terms and Conditions, we will not be able to make any referral payments to you as part of the ‘June 2023 promotion’.

The Spriggy Refer a Friend Offer is designed so that existing Spriggy users can spread the word about Spriggy in the spirit of genuine referral.

We welcome you to continue to use Spriggy with your family so that your kids can learn about money.

    • +1

      Yup, busted.

    • Just got this too.

    • Yeah got this email too. Referred 2 RL friends (not sure if they signed up), and 3 clicks on OZB.

      • I had 9 OB clicks. Wouldn't have been sweet.

      • +6

2 of my family members signed up using my referral link and they got the same email. They haven’t referred anyone so they appear to be doing it based on date and time of sign up. Shame because I was going to stay with them for a year with the Nab deal but I’m just going to cancel straight away. At least the kids have some pretty cards to play with

        • Yeah I liked with Nab too, would have kept for a year to hopefully get some more referrals..

    • Received same email.

    • Would this mean we still get the $20 bonus?

      • +1

        Doubt it

    • Why don't we introduce ourselves, so we are not strangers lol.

    • they are just making this rules up on the spot!!!

  • +2

Just got an email from them: "We have identified that you have either shared or used a Spriggy referral code or link in a way that may be considered distribution to strangers, or posting on a third-party deal or discount site. As this is in breach of our Spriggy Refer a Friend Terms and Conditions, we will not be able to make any referral payments to you as part of the ‘June 2023 promotion’. "

  • +2

Looks like it ain't happening folks

  • +8

I shared the code with my actual family and still got the email. Negative feedback incoming. Also whats the best way to make a complaint?

    • +2

Go yell at some clouds for all the good it will do

    • Same here, my family members also got the same email. Although I did add it to OZB referral generator as well. I think once they identified the referral code through OZB, they just blacklisted it for everyone!

  • +2

    Just received this email:

Important information about your referral payment

  • not happening aye lads

  • +1

Surely ozbargain blanks the referring domain name?

    • I'd imagine so. But wouldn't stop an employee from spamming the referral link and collecting referral codes.

      • I'm sure its rate limited

      • +1

I think this is what has happened, I did notice my link suddenly had an unusually large number of clicks today even though there is already nearly 500 in the pool.

  • +2

Got the email. Canceled the account straight away. Thanks but no thanks!

    • +6

Did you deposit $10? Do we get our deposits back?

      • No. I didn’t deposit. But when you go through the cancellation it does say they will refund any funds within 14 days

  • What a waste of time that was!

What a waste of time. Cancel it right away.

  • +1

I got the same message.I just need to cancel but already put some money in the account. How to get the money back and cancel.

  • +3

Just got an email stating my referral is now void due to a breach of T&Cs… also looks like someone I genuinely referred also got it as well

    Pretty disappointing

  • +3

Clearly they dont want to pay anyone a referral bonus for this campaign, some people claim they referred people in real life, yet they still got the email

    Poor form Spriggy! Ozbargainers unite!

  • Hope I still get my Star Wars VISA 😤

  • +5

Time to teach your kids about bait and switch (:

Or to actually read terms and conditions lol…

  • Yup, busted.

  • i got this from them.

    I replied

    Dear @Adyb

We (ozbargain members) have identified that you have obtained our information in a way that may be considered click and bait which is in violation of internet marketing best practices and ACL code of conduct/ recommendations.

Please be advised that if my information is not deleted from your servers by COB Friday 9/6/23 with proof attached, you will be served with a cease and desist notice and a complaint will be filed with the financial ombudsman.

    Regards
    EC

    • +1

Thanks EC, I also have the same thoughts. Given how Spriggy have turned their back on us, its in our best interest not to have our personal data (email + mobile + DOB + address) held by such a company.

    • I noticed I got some new spam email the following day after signing up with Spriggy. Some service called "Interesting Facts". If others got this too, then yeah, it's Spriggy.

  • How to withdraw my deposit?

    • This is what is says when I went through cancellation. Do you think it’s safe to cancel before spending the $10?
We hope your time with Spriggy Pocket Money has helped making teaching the kids those vital earning, spending and saving skills much easier s
Before you submit your cancellation request, please read the following super important points:
      • Lodging your cancellation request now will see your whole Spriggy Family Membership cancelled at any time within 4 business days.
This means cancellation may be relatively immediate but can also take up to 4 business days.
      • In line with our fees policy, if you have $10 or more across your Spriggy Family Membership, the funds will be returned back to the source Connected Account/S.
      • As a gesture in good faith, Spriggy will also refund any annual fee/S paid within the past 14 days based on the date you submit your cancellation request.
Please consider this before letting us know how you would like to move forward

      • +1

        I wouldn't - I believe they'll keep your $10.
Laughable when not only do they not pay referral credit but instead keep your money.

        • +2

          instead keep your money

          Steal

  • +5

Please google "Spriggy" and leave a google review.

Also $5 a month for this garbage, lol.

    • +7
      • +3

You can also leave a review for the app in the play/app store

      • +1

        yup doing it now.

        • +3

Already from 3.9 to 3.6 star.
Lets go guys, 1 star is not too far

          • @easternculture: 3.5 now.
They replied to every positive comment, even up til yesterday - but now are silent on the dozens of 1 star reviews. That's not good business in itself.

    • They've purged the google reviews….. Can't see any one star from yesterday

  • can someone whack the mole lurking here?

  • How did you guys cancel? Just email them?

  • +9

    They messed with wrong community.

They lured people by offering refferal to get our personal details and then cancelling bonus. Unprofessional and dodgy

    • Give them a 1 star review, let's collectively teach them a lesson.

  • +4

Got the same email… Although I referred 5 people I know personally and they all signed up!!
    Really poor form!!

  • +4
    • Google will probably just remove the 1 stars in a couple days.

      • I don't see that they can. They want honest reviews and these are honest reviews.

    • +1

I was genuinely going to give the cards to kids to use, and may be open a NAB account, well no more.

If Spriggy does not want to spend some promotion money to acquire new customers, it says a lot about this company.

  • +6

Lol at Peter Smith 1 star review

Adyb was up to no good and started making trouble in my neighborhood

  • "We have identified that you have either shared or used a Spriggy referral code or link in a way that may be considered distribution to strangers, or posting on a third-party deal or discount site.

    So, no bonus for me…
Will close my account after this.

  • what useless turds

    • +4

      Yeah

  • Just got the email:

So no bonus payout after all, have linked to my NAB account as well :(

  • I just got the email also…. boo to them

  • +5

Glad I didn't deposit anything, though I will be sending easternculture's email too - this is unethical true bait and switch. Does any company not know that offering $40 will end up with people signing up - and do they want people to sign up or not?

    • +2

Yes we know it has been posted at least 8 times already.

  • +2

    Got the email.

    Reviews left.

    Cancelling.

    Screw em.

  • while we are all very annoyed at the fact this has occurred, does anyone think they have enough proof to determine who referred someone IRL and not from here?

Seems like they decided to just email everyone who signed up in the last few days

    • Only proof they have is if you clicked on the link from ozbargain, they know you visited their site from ozbargain.

I clicked on a mates link from elsewhere and still got the email. But I think he might have signed up via ozbargain.

      • I referred a friend IRL. Unfortunately got flagged as well.

        • Did you sign up via link from here?

          • @bongo007: I did. My friend didn't.

            • @Ruisu: Yes, same story here, you are the link to ozbargain.

Unless as someone else said, they just sent the email to everyone who signed up since the deal was posted.

  • Received the same email

  • "Thanks for contacting Spriggy.

We will get back to you soon, although we are a bit busy at the moment we have your email and will get back to you.

Please be sure you have provided us the Name, Phone Number, Date of Birth & Email address you use for Spriggy to speed up how we can help you.

    Wonderful and very secure…

  • +3

Given that these clowns are backed by a big 4 bank making billions, pulling the promo credit is a duck move

  • +1

Funny story, my wife received the email “Important information about your referral payment” but she doesn’t even know her referral link, so it seems like it’s been sent out to everyone.

  • Pathetic company!

  • +10

If we 'reasonably believe' that you have breached these Terms by distributing your Referral
Link by bulk email or in a way that may be considered spam, distribution to strangers, or
posting on a third party deal or discount site, or your referral to Spriggy is a result of such
violation, you will not be eligible for any current or future promotional, referral or similar offer
made by Spriggy or its related entities (unless we otherwise agree).

Spriggy reserves the absolute right to suspend, change, or cancel the Referral Offer or these
Terms at any time without notice. Referral rewards earned prior to any modification or
termination of the Referral Offer will be honoured unless they were awarded as a result of a
    violation of these Terms.
Spriggy - Refer a Friend Terms and Conditions (version 202301.3) 4 of 4
This Referral Offer is made by Rivva Pty Ltd (Spriggy) in its own right, and no referral rewards
are payable by Indue Ltd (the issuer of the Spriggy Prepaid Card and Parent Wallet).

    Last modified 5 June 2023.

There was no reasoning here, they just assumed everyone is at fault here. That is unethical, unprofessional and no way to conduct a promotion

  • +1

Enjoy the negative reviews on google @Adyb

Considering i check google reviews before i sign up to a company, im sure many others do the same.

  • +2

Everyone leave a bad review here too https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/spriggy

  • Looks like they must have contacted OzBargain as well, the referral system is not automatic anymore

  • Just left my review! Love seeing more folks here writing theirs too. Shouldn't let this malpractice go unpunished.
