Welcome to the ultimate guide of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions!

IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023:

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • This deal is expired and is effectively over at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

18/07/23: OlduBil has increased their top-up fees to 9.3% (up from 6.25%) stating "Dear customer, our global operations cost increased due to high inflation rate in Turkish Lira. In order to continue the service we provide you we had to change our top-up commission to 9,3%. We appreciate your understanding and support."

Updates:

  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Fixed the incorrect plan total amount, thanks to @6wolfy9
  • 27/06/23 1:30pm - Due to the sudden and large number of transfers from you guys, Wise is now giving a transfer date of 3rd July. Please avoid Wise if you can and go the Revolut route. I can confirm Revolut transfers are much faster within minutes (or hours at the latest). For those who have already initiated a transfer via Wise, feel free to cancel the transfer (or let it send anyway in case you want to buy cheap Turkey products and services or sign up to other cheap Turkey subs) and go to Revolut.
  • 28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer. - thanks to @netsurfer
  • 03/07/23 2:00am - Edited method, I'm so sorry for making all of you pay for an extra month for no reason for the 36 months plan. Please forgive me.
  • 04/07/23 6:30pm - Microsoft must have caught on, and are blocking OlduBil Virtual cards due to security issues (good fraud prevention). This is an easy fix, and THIS DEAL IS STILL WELL AND ALIVE! Here's what you need to do:
    • Log on microsoft, then go to Contact Us. Click "Contact us" to bring up the 'Contact us' window. For the first dropdown field "What are you having trouble with", select "Subscriptions and Billing". For the second dropdown field "What's the issue", select "I need help purchasing content". For the third field "Describe your issue", man up and say something. Click "Next" > "See contact options" > "Chat online" then you'll be connected with an agent instantly. Tell them you are not able to add your credit card and ask if there's a problem on your MS account. If they ask ridiculous questions, pretend it's all working fine and start a new chat.

Credits to @Scrooge McDeal, who suggested I make a guide on this awesome ALL TIME LOW deal! And you probably know me by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's gonna be good (let me know if someone else can do it better pls). Like Netflix and Disney Plus and literally every guide I've made, I spent a chunk of money out of generosity to test the current validity of this method (I tested transfers from Wise into OlduBil) as well as annotating screenshots throughout the sign-up process (see screenshots in the instructions section). From this testing, I believe this opens a new doorway to a variety of insane deals and prices we weren't able to previously obtain. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day. The 14 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺374,94 TL ($21.64 AUD, or $1.55/mth) and the 36 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺1034,72 TL ($59.68 AUD, or $1.66/mth). Note that despite the long term 36 month plan has a higher $/mth, it works out cheaper because if you signed up to 14 months, you'll be paying almost 3 times higher if you want to extend at the end of the 14th month.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • No VPN required
  • You must have no current subscriptions

Part 2a - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Wise (App or Web)

Wise fee: ~A$2.13, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Log in or create an account on Wise. You can use the Wise website, or the Wise app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

  2. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account via PayID (instant, no fee), POLi (instant, $1.18 AUD fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (business days only, no fee).

  3. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, click onto "Australian Dollar", then "Convert", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "continue" then "convert". Wise charges a 1.07% fee for AUD-TRY conversions.

  4. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, click onto "Turkish Lira", then "Send", then select "Same currency". Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Wise charges a ₺24.34 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). Click "continue", then "New contact", then "Someone else". On this page, leave the "their email" box empty, and tick "I know their bank details". For the "Full name of the account holder" field, type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and for the "IBAN" field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. Continue and in the "Review transfer details" section (see screenshot), double check everything is correct and then for the "Reference for TURK" field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Tick the confirmation box and then "Confirm and send". This transfer will only be initiated during normal Turkey business hours and takes around 10 minutes on Wise's end. My transfer took 2 hours to land into my OlduBil account.

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

Part 2b - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Revolut (App only)

Revolut fee: ~A$1.79, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Download the Revolut app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) if you don't already have it installed.

  2. Open the app and log in or create an account (if you don't have it already).

  3. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account via a debit/credit card (instant, no fee), Apple Pay (instant, no fee), Google Pay (instant, no fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (usually instant, no fee).

  4. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, select "Australian Dollar", then "Exchange", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "Review order" then "Sell AUD for TRY". Revolut charges no fee for currency conversions.

  5. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, go to the buttom tabs of the app and click onto "Transfer", then "+ New" (top right corner), then select "Send International". Scroll down and select "Türkiye" as the destination. Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Revolut charges a ₺30.15 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). For the transer method, select "Bank Account" (this is probably default anyway). For the Reference field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Click "Continue", then on the "Who to pay" page, tap "+ New" (top right corner). Select the "Business" tab. For the IBAN field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the BIC/SWIFT field, type in the BIC code you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the "Company name", type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and ignore the email field. Press "Add the recipient" then on the following page, enter the VakıfBank address (the one from Part 1 Step 3) and review the transfer and estimated arrival, then send it off to Turkey :))

HELP POINT using VakıfBank: TBC but very similar to Aktifbank (just different bank information) see above screenshots for process

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

      • Thanks mate, I've seen the update now. Bad timing :(

    • It’s weird that you’re experiencing the same expected issue as everyone else. But in case you didn’t read the top of the post before making your comment, here’s some helpful info:

28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer

  • Has anyone looked into the fees & charges associated with wise, revolut & oldubil? Im not talking about ISP outlined in the post. I mean account keeping fees, or fees for stagnant accounts etc.

I dont really understand how oldubil can operate as a business. I really dont want to be stung with some kind of fee be bailed up when i go on a holiday to istanbul lol.

    • They take a commission from each transfer you make, which is 6.5%

    • none of them are at a loss here. But Oldubil appears to be heavily focused on domestic and may close overseas players some time in the future like Ozan if they get in to any pressure so it is better not to keep huge money hanging there. If you can visit Istanbul, you are in a much better position anyway.

    • @Crunchbite hey there. No account keeping fees for Wise, Revolut and OlduBil 🥰

Leave it abandoned for as long as you want :)

Just be mindful of OlduBil. I know know how they behave so be cautious

  • This looks amazing !!

I’ve been burnt before trying to do this the old way, but I’m hoping to having a crack at this method.

If I create a new Microsoft account to try this, do I have to say that I’m based in Turkey ?

    • Nope. Australian accounts work too. @Shaquille Oatmeal

      • +1

Thanks legend.. I’m hoping to have a crack at this today

I’ve already setup a Revolutu card and OlduBil account

        • Apparently Turkey is still on public holiday, the money transfer won't work until tomorrow afternoon.

        • @Shaquille Oatmeal make the transfer tomorrow to avoid the weekend Revolut transfer fee

  • Just tried to transfer funds from Revolut. It is stuck at the transfer screen and the circle keeps spin. Is it normal?

    • @arctan did you fix it?

      • Yes I tried again and it worked. Just need to see the funds tomorrow in Oldubil.

  • I've noticed if you're with Up bank they have partnered with Wise to do international transfers, so you just link your Wise account with Up and do the transfer easily through the Up mobile app. Will report back on experience if you have the same bank (waiting until 3rd July).

  • Has anyone else solved the Mastercard validation issue when adding the payment method? I tried removing all of my old ones before adding the new one without any luck.
I'm guessing it could be an address validation issue but at this time i'm not sure (I tried many addresses).

    • To answer my own question, i tried with multiple addresses until one worked. I used a different generator than the one from the post.

      • Hey All,

Despite contact MS No-Help desk twice, I couldn't get this to work. What I did to get it working was to going into the Account management area and add a billing address first. I used:

Address 1: Ziya Gökalp Mahallesi Hürriyet
        Address 2: Bulvarı No:209/B İKİTELLİ
        Küçükçekmece
        Istanbul
        Turkey
        34306

You need to provide name and phone number and then when you go to add the Oldubil card, the name matches up and bingo. Other advantage is that then when you have logged out and log back in to Turkish site, cc is already pre-loaded, so click and start building your package. My kids have confirmed that our is working great now and showing expiry in 2026.

Huge thanks to @I Smell Pennies for all the work on the initial post and his assistance with helping out others.

Mmmm sounds like I can use this way to buy games from both steam and Xbox at the Turkey region. This is a really nice post.

    • +1

Can anyone confirm this works for purchasing from the Xbox Store?

I have a cart with $200AUD that would cost loss than $70AUD. But with the long weekend in Turkey can't really test this out until next week. For an example you can pick up Hogwarts Legacy XSX for ~$42AUD.

      • +4

I have bought a few games already using this method, mainly $30aud games which come down to roughly $3. Buy the game via Turkey method, go onto concol and it'll say you can install it as you already own it.

        • +1

Thanks. I've just transferred $30 to an an account to test this out next week. i've bought many games via CD keys sites from Argentina, Turkey and Brazil. But wow some of them are insanely cheap on the Turkish store.

        • Did you buy the Xbox games through PC(web or app) orXbox Console? Thank you.

        • Do you need a VPN to buy games from Turkey?

          • +2

@tianyujojo: I bought the games through the Internet links. Pretty much using the links provided in this deal and then just going to the games menu and search in the games that I want. No I didn’t need to use a VPN. Just use the links directly. Then use your turkey virtual card.

  • -2

I assumed oldubil only works for country that accept oldubil?

  • With the holiday does it matter if you choose wise or revolut, will 3rd July be too late to get this deal?

    • Plenty of time

      • Sweet. I’ll send $75 to Old Ubil now and wait and see. Still unsure about the PSN deal but this one seems easy enough, fingers crossed 🤞

        • You should be fine, just take it slow and easy

  • Just to give my experience, transferred via Revolut on 27th around 11pm and money still hasn't reached OlduBil.

    :(

      • Thanks. The (relevant) update was 28th which was after I transferred the monies which was on 27th.

All good, have to wait till Monday that's all.

        • +1

No worries at all. Just referring you to it that's all.

Most people who transferred after 9pm or so on the 27th would be having theirs delayed until 3rd July. Blame their public holiday haha.

          Wishing you the best :)

Oh, great post. My previous 36 is about to expire. Will have a go at it after the weekend (and Spotify).

    Thanks!

    • No worries, let me know if you run into troubles :))

  • I don’t have an Aussie number to register for oldubil. Any other suggestion?

    • any country mobile number should work, doesnt have to be australian.

      • No it doesn’t. If your country is not in the list, you can’t even sign up

        • Click on the flag and look up for your country, there are plenty of them.

    @I Smell Pennies
Thanks so much for this, i have created the Revolut and OlduBil accounts and just waiting for the transfer to process (Monday due Hol). One thing I did notice that you might want to add to improve this exceptional post is, Revolut do charge currency conversion fees if done on a weekend. I was charged 12.90 Lira (AUD$0.75) so not a biggie, but worth noting.

Also are you able to provide insight into how to add money to Revolut via any means other than cc. Only option available to me was cc. Is this a limitation of the basic membership?

    Thanks again.

    • +1

No worries. You could have made the transfer on Monday to avoid the weekend fee (keep in mind for next time).

Thanks for your suggestion. I’ll explore ways to add via Revolut, and if I find anything I’ll let you know @mattmel96

I've worked that if payments are to resume being processed from Monday business hours in Lebanon, that would be around 4pm AEST on Monday 3rd July

  • does anybody know if Xbox cloud gaming works on the turkey game pass?

    • Nope it doesn’t work. It worked just fine on my Australian Game Pass account, but since switching to Turkey no longers works. Says I need to join Game Pass. ☹️

      • I have a Microsoft account (region is Turkey) with a game pass subscription from Turkey and I can play cloud games in Australia without any problem.

I registered this account in Aus and let someone from overseas buy the xbox game pass subscription for me via VPN.

        • If I change my Microsoft account to Turkey (this change can only be done once every 3 months), how will this affect my Hotmail and OneDrive account? And Microsoft Rewards?

          https://account.xbox.com/en-au/AccountMigration

        • I'm confused. I want to sign up to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and then I should be able to play the cloud games that they have on their servers, on my Android phone? Is that how it works or is it only for purchasing games…

          • +1

@adrianhughes1998: Yes that is how it normally works. That's what I was able to do on my Aussie subscription. On this Turkish one I can't cloud stream the Gamepass games any more.

            • +1

@Ge3ks: Shit might have to skip signing up then :(

              • @adrianhughes1998: I am regretting this subscription.

I just signed my son up for 3 years using my accumulated Microsoft Rewards points, so it's an Aussie subscription, and everything works as intended. Cloud streaming, Games with Gold discounts, GamePass game discounts. None of this works for me anymore. The one thing I can do is play GamePass games on my Xbox.

                • @Ge3ks: In hindsight I should have just paid for 3 years of Gold in Australia and coverted it. Still a huge saving.

Then just use this virtual Turkish credit card for buying cheap games from Xbox Turkey.

        • I can confirm this too but for me it's not too big a deal. For me, Xcloud on 5G is just ok as it really depends on the signal strength of the area you're in. Mostly it's not really worth it imo as it is still too laggy & not really playable. True AAA mobile gaming is only really achievable with Steam Deck or the ASUS ROG Ally anyway. Plus now that I'm permanently WFH, it's a non issue. The Gold Live & Game Pass discounts is a bit of a bummer but thinking back on the last 3 years of GPU subscription, I haven't really bought that many games anyway. And even if I did, these games weren't necessarily discounted that much anyway.

In the end, for me, this is still a great deal - 3 years subscription is more than enough to play a lot of the big upcoming AAA Xbox exclusives eg. Starfield, etc without having to purchase anything.

      • That would be strange because this user here reported everything was fine. Maybe remove the Oldubill card?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13971034/redir

        Hopefully it works for me

        • Yep done that. Here is my response to that user.

          Just tested.

          PC -
Cloud streaming still works on the PC Xbox app, and Gold discounts are present on the PC Microsoft Store App.
But on a PC web browser I can't get the discounts from Microsoft.com or Xbox.com. It doesn't recognise my Gold or Game Pass sub.

          Android -
I use a Samsung Galaxy S7+ tablet and a Galaxy A73 phone. I can no longer access Cloud Streaming on my android tablet or phone. And my Gold or Game Pass subs aren't recognised. So no discounts. This is via the Xbox app, GamePass app or on a browser.

          Xbox console -
          Playing regular GamePass games works.
But I can't get any Gold or Game Pass related discounts. Sub is not recognised when attempting to buy something on sale.

Cloud gaming is not supported in the majority of countries, including Turkey: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/regions

      • Confusing cos you go to Game Pass and it says yeah you can do gaming online but you go to Cloud section and it says nope it's not supported for Turkey.

Oh well guess I can rest easy now knowing that I couldn't play those Xbox games on my Android phone via the cloud…

      • $5.26 AUD for a one month pass in Argentina for Xbox game pass ultimate…if someone can figure all that out….

      • This is interesting. I do have a Microsoft account (region is Turkey, XGPU was purchased from Turkey). With it, I can play cloud games from xbox app on PC or xbox game pass app on android in Australia.

        • +1

@tianyujojo, can you please explain it more ? e.g. get a new account via Turkey vpn then play in Australia without VPN or etc?

          • +1

@GoodDealDave: I registered my Microsoft account in Australia.

Gave my account to an online retailer and they bought the xbox game pass ultimate from Turkey for me.

Now I can claim gold games, have access to game pass discounts, and play cloud games via xbox app and xbox game pass app in Andriod in Australia.

I am not sure if they have used a VPN when purchasing the game pass ultimate. I do not need a VPN during the whole process.

All I can see from my Microsoft account is that my region is set to Turkey and there is a Turkey address in my address book. There is no Turkey payment in my account (The retailer must removed it).

            • @tianyujojo: What retailer is this?

              • @jayboi: It is a random seller on taobao.com. I bought the XGPU from them in March of this year.

I just received the email from Wise today which states they will no longer processing Turkey transfer. I tried to buy the games from steam today via Wise card which was rejected. If no wise, then Revolt is our only options.

  • Revolut now charging for exchange to TRY @I Smell Pennies FYI

What happens if you add 1 x 1 Month Game Pass Ultimate purchased with Aussie currency to the 14 or 36 months Turkish paid GPU subscription? Will that just add the extra month eg. so it's 15 or 37 months of GPU subscription and convert the GPU back to Aussie region?

  • Specific question but, would I (on PC) be able to play with my brother (on Xbox) same time with this Turkish account? I know its possible normally, but wanted to double check if it works on this too.

Waiting patiently for my Oldubill balance to update

Public holidays should be banned globally

    • You want global public holiday ban to be applied to you too?

      • -1

        Yeah I love my work

        • +1

So people from anywhere in the world should be able to contact you and ask you questions about your work even while you are on holiday? Good for you.

          • -1

@edfoo: I said public holidays should be banned, not all holidays. 2 weeks annual leave is enough.

            • @TheCandyMan2020: That's including Christmas and Boxing Day. Some countries don't celebrate those days as holiday, so people can contact you for work related issues too?

Regarding cloud gaming, is there any walk through or any recommendation?
e.g. new account rather than main MS account? or remove Oldubill right after, etc? Any firmed info for guys like me who're still awaiting bank transfer for signing up? Thanks.

    • +1

I think this problem just happen recently. I have heard many people (not from here) who bought their xbox game pass from Turkey in June could not claim gold games and play cloud gaming. Few of them solved the problem via Microsoft support but it was a complicated process.

        • +1

Thanks for sharing. Can you test if you have the 10% discounts for game pass users via a browser? And can you test cloud gaming on both PC and your phone? Much appreciated.

People who are not as lucky as you may have issues like the xbox gold memberships are not recognized even they have ultimate memberships. It is a problem reported by many people recently. MS support says it is a rare problem that happens when you upgrade your gold membership to ultimate membership.

can anyone cofirm if you can buy 1mo of australian ultimate while having turkish gold/pc/xbox?

@Ge3ks are you locked out of buying australian xgp ultimate even after deleting the oldubil card off MS?

@in-place could you test if playing cloud inside a pc browser works? or the android app if you have that?
ge3ks has it working on the pc app only

    • +1

Can confirm cloud gaming works in both Browser and Android

      • +1

I guess the take away here is to use a separate or new hotmail account for this subscription. It would be locked to Turkey region and it should work with everything including discounts and cloud gaming?

    • I tried to add a month of Australian Game Pass Ultimate to my Turkish GPU subscription but it would not allow it because it was a 'region mismatch'.

      • accorrding to various posts on leddit and ms forums, the 1 month of aus xgpu gift card may work, no real confirmation tho

        ms store is locked
but also 50-50 store worked here
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/750589?page=1#comment

i may have to test it later

other option seems to be contacting ms support

        • It was a gift card code that I tried to use.

  • Would this runin your Australian account say if you want to purchase Australian gamepass.

    • I have not heard of a bad story about this.

People did somethign similar two years ago and as far as i KNEW, had seen no issue.

Like whats wrong with it besides it being the place you purchased it from?

      • i purchased the yearly game pass from turkey last year where you had to change your vpn all worked perfectly and here i am back to get another 3 years this time, its worth the time the savings are enormous
