    Nice deal!

    • +4

Apparently not, more than 20% unhappy votes here. Then again based on the order numbers, 12k+ transactions per hr. Jeff going to be even richer lol

    • +5

This is undoubtedly one of the worst deals of the year, given the enormous number of people that have been billed, only to be told their transaction has failed at checkout.

IMHO, Coles ought to have known this would happen.

      They should be prosecuted.

      • +11

I had mine in the freakin check out and the deal expired whilst I was checking out so got charged the full amount even though the checkout page said $900. FFS!! I called after an hour waiting and they said there is nothing they can do…. this is not a deal this is a con!

      • Got to be quick, I was on it at 9.00am.
Depends on your speed but easier with Google pay on your phone and auto filling of cards. May even depend on your cards. I still got time to enter a security code from SMS and all.

At least it didn't charge you when there was no availability, getting a refund would be a pain.

        • -1

I got mine at around 9:20AM-9:30AM so there was decent amount of time to get it before it expired. I did try at 9:00AM sharp but I kept getting failed transaction (with no bank charge, luckily) so I waited it out.

          • +1

@Oztx: Yeah 15-000 clicks this morning is pretty mental.

      • -3

Sorry mate, this is a decent deal, way better than $2 cash back for $50 or whatever from the Cashrewards. I know there are some technical issues. I found session issues when connecting from my PC, and had to go through my bank verification as well. I had three transactions, one failed (pending), thats Okie, that kind of shit happens when there is a huge amount of transactions. I will wait a few days, it will go away. I have seen it happen before no big deal.

It's the official Coles Group & Myer Gift Cards Site.

    • +3

Yes it’s a legit site, previous deals

    • +2

      What about it looks scammy?

      • +4

I guess the fact it says "© Coles Group & Myer Gift Cards 2021" at the bottom of every page

        • +4

That's just Coles being shit 😂

    • +1

      i guess we should've listened… /s

    • +1

  • +2

can we use these to buy other gift cards from Amazon? Such as airbnb

    • Yes you can

    • All gift cards except for their own

        • +1

can you buy amazon gift card using those visa gift t?

          • +1

@mar1in: Through this deal? Or somewhere else?

I do not know whether you can use OnlyONE Visa gift cards as a payment method on giftcards.com.au, because I have not tried myself, plus it is very hard to get my hands on OnlyONE Visa gift cards these days to test it out.

Considering in my experience it is harder to use a prepaid Visa gift card online when compared with a prepaid Mastercard gift card online, I have my doubts it would work.

        • +2

Can't buy onlyone visa gift cards, but other gift cards work.

  • +2

Can we use it to buy amazon prime?

    • +9

No. Renewal or subscribing as new membership requires your credit card

  • great

  • Why 9am? The chance that I will miss out is close to 1 unless enough stock

    • +5

So the mass disappointment be at 9:05.

      • Lasted about over an hour possibly due to payment issues

  • -2

Can Coles Prepaid Mastercards be used as payment?

    • +1

I am assuming you are referring to Coles Mastercard gift cards, not the older Coles Gift Mastercards? (In fairness, they are both Coles Prepaid Mastercards…)

I have used a physical Coles Mastercard gift card as a payment method for a $100 gift card on giftcards.com.au in the past, but I have seen some other people say their attempts were unsuccessful… so I guess it is pot luck?

      • Yea the former. I'd guess it's the same as in-store then in which they can still be used to buy other gift cards other than more Coles Prepaid Mastercards (they couldn't be used to buy more Coles Prepaid Mastercards in the previous giftcards.com.au deals, right?).

  • +1

amazing deal BG. No need to rush into the supermarket and race for the last ones in stock.

  • +3

Max $500 per gift card so gotta add 2 to order?

  • -4

Where can I see the 10% off ?

  • now this is epic

  • How do you actually redeem these? And any particular requirements such as installing an app or valid phone number? etc
The FAQ page doesnt mention anything.

    • +1

On Amazon under Account (three lines icon) and Manage gift card balance

  • Has anyone been able to make multiple orders and still get the discount with these offers?

  • Good stuff, hopefully they have enough stock..

  • +3

Will this be like this where all different payment cards were failing for most customers? or have you done something to fix it?

  • One order per customer?

  • it is coles gift card portal so can i add coles reward card to earn point when i buy it?

  • +2

just be careful that in previous prepaid mastercard deal, it send the same gift card to mutliple orders.
Could happen on Amazon gift card as well, no one can be sure.

    • +2

With Amazon, Uber and Airbnb gift cards, always redeem immediately to your account.

      • Sometimes Amazon just ban accounts without providing any reason, like mine
That's why I never keep >$5 gift card balance.

        • Any update to this post?

          • @HardQuiz: No, they never give me any email/call back.
Every time I call, it's the same bull shit.
            I just give up.

  • +1

    • +1

they got told to curb inflation :)

  • What's the best way to buy these? 2x $500? 10x $100? Something else?

    • One order per customer. But not sure if they're gonna stick to it.

      • -1

How are they tracking one order per customer? :/

  • +4

I honestly don't buy that much from Amazon anymore, like small bits and pieces.

1k would last me ages lol

    • Why has it dropped off?

  • +1

Lots of videos games for me coming out with Armoured Core 6, Spiderman 2, COD and others so stocking up now, thanks OP!

People are seemingly incapable of helping themselves by reading the basic info supplied, and can only get through in life if they are fed directly like babies.
There were earlier posts making same silly complaint, and there are others after who went the extra step and purchased the cards without somehow noting they were paying full price.

        • You have to hope some of these posts are jokes, right?

    • +2

      Timmmah

  • thinking about buying these on a credit card. Anyone know if this come up as a cash advance on the credit card? Got the Virgin money credit card, and an ANZ credit card?

    • +1

I have latitude gem visa and it comes as normal transaction for me.

    • +4

I used my AMEX at this website in the past and it was treated as a regular purchase.

The MCC used for this website should be 5399 (Miscellaneous General Merchandise Stores), which is a generic MCC, not an MCC that is necessarily cash-equivalent.

The transaction description will mention that you are purchasing from Coles Group, which again does not really hint at the transaction being cash-equivalent.

I have not seen any reports from past giftcards.com.au deals of Virgin Money or ANZ credit cards treating transactions at this merchant as cash-equivalent, so you should be okay. There is a chance that either Virgin Money or ANZ have decided that this merchant is a cash-equivalent merchant since the last big deal on giftcards.com.au, but I do not see any evidence of Virgin Money or ANZ considering purchases of gift cards (which is the primary purpose of this merchant) as cash-equivalent. Honestly, I would be more worried if Virgin Money or ANZ will let the transaction go through in the first place, because giftcards.com.au is notorious for having transactions inexplicably fail.

      • +1

        Good intel thanks Wookie

    • +3

I have never heard buying gc is treated as cash advance when using CC. Being using CC issued by virtually all big 4 (plus others) in last 10-15 years or so and bought gc almost with every single card that I owned. Never got any cash advance fee.

      • +1

For a few months, CommBank and Bankwest treated transactions on Giftz.com.au (an online gift card portal operated by Blackhawk Network) as cash advances.

This should have been fixed earlier this year.

      • +1

I have bought many gift cards online and in store and ive never had it come up any different on any my credit cards.

      • generally no but it has occurred before

it was only certain credit cards and I think it may have been fixed by now

        been discussed previously on Ozbargain

  • Last time when I bought 15% off $200 Myer card, it said one per customer. But I was able to buy multiple in different transactions, so I don’t think they put any limit.

  • +1

Oh boy, expecting their site will get hammered by 9:01.

  • thanks for sharing very good !

  • It says one order per customer. So can I order something like 10 x $50?

    • Why not do 1 of $500?

      • So I can share it with family members

  • -1

Would be losing money if GC not used within 2 years?

    • Amazon gift cards never expire.

      • -1

    • +2

      what happened

You didn't read is what happened. It mentioned in three seperate places when the deal starts …

Big blue LATER TODAY at the top of this deal

      Offer available from 9/8/23 9am.

      And

      From 9 Aug 9:00am

      Q

      can I refund?

      No. T&C's

      Gift Cards cannot be refunded

  • Why would they do this?

    • +5

The sheer audacity of a business to discount a product to draw customers?!

    • The target audience of such promotion would be ppl not on ozb

  • it says max $500 though will it change?

    • Not gonna change. Just order 2 lots of $500
