Initially the deal was set to end on 21/08, but I noticed they changed it on Coles website

        • Thats why I got confused! I am sure I saw 21st somewhere

          • +1

@Zippy7: You definitely saw it correctly :)
I only amended the deal yesterday

        • -1

They didn’t sell enough because of all the Ozbargain neggers making people think twice about purchasing

        • Actually 21/7, good ol' Coles copy-pasting. Even when they changed the date to the 23rd, they still have it as /7.

  • Has anyone tried using them for overseas purchases?

    • Yes, didn't work for OF :8

  • +1

Just used 2x $250 card to pay for my Monash Health bill. Worked perfectly!

Hopefully they are not charged back!

  • -3

Anyone considered paying their electricity bill or other bill way in excess and then asking for a refund back to bank acct?

  • Boo, I'm getting transaction failed on all my cards now.

    • that seems to have been the best way to get through - I've made 4 purchases but the only way I got this working was buying on different cards. First I used credit cards but eventually switched to even my debit card for the last 2 orders.

Good run, nice little easy money earning. Come the next round though I'm not going to have as many options to use the cards on.

      • Hmm I might try my debit cards, worth a shot.

  • Can I purchase these. Use sniip and then pay via bpay into my Amex and/or Mastercard?

    • +1

      No.

Although you may see Sniip say that you can pay all BPAY bills through Sniip, that is not actually true. There are a number of BPAY biller types that are blocked by Sniip, as outlined in their FAQ:

I tried adding my BPAY Biller Code and it says, ‘Blocked Biller’, what do I do?

Each BPAY biller is reviewed by Sniip to ensure it is in a permitted industry. If a biller has been restricted by us, you will receive a ‘blocked biller’ message when you try to process the bill payment.

Due to the risk profile of certain billers, Sniip has initially restricted certain sectors.

      These categories include:

      • Remittance service provider
      • Charities and Not-for-Profit
      • Intermediaries
      • Pay-day lenders
      • Internet gambling
      • Casinos
      • Goods dealers
      • Foreign exchange currencies
      • Securities and derivatives
      • Managed investment schemes
      • International business operations
      • International students or travel products
      • Hiring and leasing
      • Banking and financial institutions

Any BPAY billers related to credit card statements should be captured under the last dot point and therefore be blocked.

Additionally, some BPAY billers (e.g. ATO) are not completely blocked by Sniip, but you will be blocked from using a Coles Mastercard gift card as a payment method. If you link a Coles Mastercard gift card to your Sniip account and then attempt to use it to send a payment to the ATO, you will get an error saying the biller does not accept that payment method.

  • Can anyone confirm, if can be loaded to the Wise account for the payment to other bank account in Australia? Trying to save some $$. Or any other way to pay to other bank account.

    • No.

    • It used to work, back a couple of months ago. But now it doesn't.

  • I found these good for council rates, or anywhere you can select the amount owed. Left over amounts are a pain to use, probably have to buy discounted gift cards to finish them off.

Alot of websites don't let you use multiple credit cards, so it's pretty bad for buying stuff online.

    • How do you use 2 cards to pay rates if say you owe $500?

  • OMG I'm missing 4 cards and 2 of my cards were already linked to a paypal account.

    • Yeah gotten the linked to PayPal message quite a few times. Reckon it’s a bug but probs worthwhile spending it in case you’re worried.

    • missing as were never sent?

      • Yeah, I found 1.. but one of the batches of 10 I bought they only sent me 7.

    • Yeah got that today as well. Just spend it. I think they're recycling old numbers.

      • I have the same issue and if they are indeed recycling old numbers, would the different date and cvv stop the previous user to use the newly issued card?

        • I believe what might have happened is the previous user used it all up, removed from Paypal but on Paypal's end it takes 24 hours before it gets completely removed from on account to another hence you'll get that message. Although I'm a bit paranoid when seeing that message hence I usually just spend it quickly.

          • @nightelves: Yeah I just immediately spent those ones. Hopefully there's no chargeback or other issue down the line.

  • For those who have purchased these cards using amex, cba, Citi prestige cards etc, do these purchases qualify as ‘supermarket’ spend to qualify for bonus credit card points? I’ve seen reports that they do qualify for amex prestige (although I’ve read previous reports saying they’re not). From personal experience, cba only qualify as normal spend.

    • Purchases of these cards qualified for ANZ bonus credit card spend.

      • Thanks for that. I was more referring to the merchant classification of these gift cards spend as some credit cards award bonus points if they are classified as supermarkets or groceries. I’ve read conflicting reports of whether these are classified as supermarket spend. I’ve used cba and they were not classified as such although the description was ‘Coles group’.

        • Yes it does. It's coming as supermarket for me on CommBank

    • +1

Wookie's wiki has the merchant classification for giftcards.com.au as 5399 - Miscellaneous General Merchandise Stores
On my Citibank Prestige this is not classified as supermarket spend hence I only get 1 point per dollar in total

Purchased 12 x 10 = 120 cards in total. Let me tell you what I've learned about their system, for future reference:

Nothing. I couldn't figure it out.

But here are the variables that I changed over hundreds of attempts over the past few days to get my transactions through, and the ones that I think actually matters.
    1. Name - doesn't seem to matter
    2. Billing address - doesn't seem to matter
    3. Phone number - definitely doesn't matter
    4. Email - seems to matter - there were times when putting a different email address with everything else the same lets me successfully purchase
    5. Credit card - definitely matters - no matter how many details I change, I just cannot use the same card to purchase more than 2-3 times in a day. Another thing to note is that I have more success with the major banks - ie. ANZ, Westpac, St George; and none of the small online banks eg. Me, Up or even BOQ, Macquarie worked for me.
    6. Browser - definitely matters - initially just chrome worked. Then chrome incognito, then safari, then microsoft edge. Had various success with each but there are definitely times when changing the browser with all the same details results in successful transaction.
    7. Network - seems to matter - had some success going to the local cafe and using all the same details in the same day for a successful transaction, and then again at the local McDonalds. Same with mobile network.
    8. Device - seems to matter - same details but instead of my Macbook I hopped on my phone, and subsequently my iPad, and got a few more successful transactions with the same details. May be just redundant with browser though because I did try a few different mobile browsers on my mobile devices.

What I 100% can say is that it's all the work of the website - your transactions are not being blocked by the bank. That is of course unless you try a gazillion times and the bank eventually flags them as suspicious transactions.

    • I figured out how it works.

Because you can only make 01 transaction per customer (T&C), your card because it will be blocked.

To have a successful payment, you have to change to a different IP address (use VPN) and different card. It will work.

I got my card blocked with "Transaction failed, please contact customer service." but once I changed things above, it works straight away with same name, address, phone number and email.

Edited: Remember to save the counting of your transaction, try to place 10 cards by 01 transaction.

      • +5

I dont think thats correct becajse myself and many others have used the same card multiple times in the same day to purchase

        • I used the same card on the same day which was ok, but on the next day, it's blocked. So, I think they have a delay before your card is blocked.

          • @LeVuHoang: Real hit and miss.

My citi prestige has worked flawlessly the whole week, multiple purchases on same day, with just email change (all other details the same).
My ANZ Qantas CC kept failing at the 2FA screen last week, but over the weekend has started working again. Was able to put through 3x purchases today with no issues, again with just a email change.

Even the email doesn't have to be particularly different (Gmail + IYKYK)

      • I've used the same card and same network to purchase over different days as well. Also I used some overseas cards and it just straight up didn't work. So… still dunno.

        • The supporter came back to me saying as per T&C, there is 01 transaction per customer. That's why my card is blocked.

          • @LeVuHoang: Potentially but then a whole lot of other people have this issue the first time they try to buy

      • Used the same Westpac credit card to buy over multiple transactions yesterday and today, all worked fine.

Only change I made after hitting 10 cards was to use a different email and different mobile number. Everything else was the same. YMMV

  • Since each card only has $250. How do I do the split payment for my rego that has got $458?

    • You can't, unless you can pay 3 monthly rego instead

    • +2

I pay for 3 months, then what's left I buy a discounted BWS card
Cos I know I can load them onto my account

Good for council rates, good for using through a broker for my wine but can't use it for online much unless you want multiple cards with small amounts I gotta remember to use
Probably can use for Woolworths discounted GC, no idea if they load onto account like BWS.

    • I think you can if you pay rego directly to NSW service

      • Same for VIC, split payment in person only.

      • How to do use these cards to pay for rego… Can you please explain as one card value be 250… so can you use another card after to pay for the remaining balance….

        • i use the reminder for something else, last resort would be woolies gc

          • @ivyholmes: No my question was is there an option after using the first card…we can use the second card for the remaining amount…. also when you buy woolies gc for the remaining balance can you get custom amount for the gc

        • Pretty certain you won't be able to use two Coles Mastercards at once, as most online places will only accept one Mastercard payment details at a time.

Yes, for Woolies gc you can enter a custom amount as long as it's between $5 - $500.

          • @Alinnia: Thank you guys for the feedback… Will try to pay for some bills and the rest use it for woolies gc

            • @ARUN365: Yes you can use coles mc only for online payment, the reminder you can use for woolies, sb, etc. i think woolies is easier since you can put 5.xx (two digit for cents) so you can finish it up full ballance

        • I pay 3 months, then I basically buy a wish or BWS gift card through RAA with 4% off with the remainder.

It's a bit of a pain with left overs, BWS allows you to load GC into your account tho! I'm not sure about Woolworths etc

    • Can you just pay $500 and have $42 credit on your rego (you could always ask for a refund).

      • Ring and ask?

I assume you can use these credit cards over the phone? So sometimes if you ring, they can process it manually for you.

  • Anyone know if "Paypal pay in 4" accept these cards?

    • +1

      Nop

      • Thank you. I'm guessing it isn't possible to load my PayPal account balance with these cards either.

        • "We only support transfers from confirmed banks, not cards, for adding money to PayPal."

  • -2

    10 worked easy with Westpac.

Easy enough to pay my Council rates, Registration & a few other things due.

Dropping two and a half grand, to basically save $160 personally for me isn't worth it.

I mean I just have to work a couple of hours overtime, and not have to stress about using gift cards.

But for some people, they're like amazing at tracking all this stuff or possibly have huge bills. I can understand because the process only took me like a couple of minutes.

99% don't have a spare 10-15k laying around, it comes down to timing aswell!

My council rates rocked up 3 weeks ago, my rego is due this week, I just got a new Westpac CC and have to hit 4k minimum spend blah blah

    • +14

I mean I just have to work a couple of hours overtime, and not have to stress about using gift cards.

YMMV but the satisfaction I get from literally laying in bed spending approx 30mins paying off bills that otherwise I can't get discounts on, expenses taken care of well into next year, all the while accruing 1000's of points at 3x rate by paying with AMEX kinda can't be beat.

These 10% off Digital Coles MasterCards are pretty much the deals of the year for me.

      • +4

The thrill of spending money to save money, while risking getting hacked and losing it all makes me feel alive

      • This -> “satisfaction”. So true, utility maximisation.

  • +1

Is there anyway to spend more than 10 on ATO portal and 5 on easy pay?
Is the limit per 12hrs or 24 hrs for both portals?

    • +1

idk about easypay, but ATO reset every 12 hours for me.

    • 12 hours on each portal, pretty strict on times from my experience. Only other bypass is to use a different payment reference number on easypay (Just tried it)

I also tried to put through a different payment reference on ATO portal, but seems to be 10 total across all reerences.

    • +1

ato portal a bit temperamental.. sometimes it lets 10, sometimes 9, sometimes less in a 12 hour period. I get the feeling it is actually 10 "attempts" per 12 hours ie if you try to do 11 in a 12 hour period, you will only get 9 chances 12 hours later.

      • So moral of story is to only do it 10 times per 12 hours, dont attempt more?

  • Hi all,
Quick questions, can this mastercard buy other gift cards at giftcards.com, ?

  • -4

    When do the cards expire?

    • +11

      hacker alert…

    • The cards I got expired in 2028.

  • I just tried it to top up my Go Card online (Qld public transport) and it doesn't work. Says authorisation failed or something like that.

    • Yeah doesn’t work for me either :(

  • -2

Does anyone know if these gift cards can be used for online Woolies orders? Where it says "Add a gift card" in the online payment section…is it any gift card or just the Woolies gift card?

    • -1

Woolies gift cards or WISH cards

    • +2

These are not treated as a gift card, but rather a prepaid Mastercard with value loaded onto it

  • +1

    Thanks guys. Appreciate your replies.

  • +1

For those with OVO Energy, if you cbf thinking of other ways to use up your remaining balance of a few dollars or a few cents, you may choose to top up in OVO with any amount.

  • -1

Can we use these to prepay utility bills, council rates, rego even if not due? If so, can multiple $250's be used for this purpose or there is a limit.

    • +1

Many comments about this above. Go to view all and do a word search.

    • +1

Just make sure you keep a record of all your cards and what you paid with it in case they decide to refund the overpayment to the original method of payment.

      • Wonder why they would do this?
Anyone tried with vicroads and council rates, any issues?

  • my amex that stopped working last few days.. is now working again and was able to purchase 10 with no problems.

  • As this deal almost ends, anyone going to buy some to keep for some time? Or too risky?

    • +2

I've kept some around for a while before but I think you're better off just overpaying ATO/utilities/rates.

    • +8

You can schedule them to be delivered at a future date. They are not activated until then.

      • Wow really? Might be able to buy heaps and keep paying the ATO then

        • Next time.

    • +2

I bought extra and converted them to activ visa.
Currently no free conversion. Cost is $1.
