Are there some discounted OW gift cards going? I've got this mental block that $300 is the trigger for this product.

    • +1

Ultimate gift card can be used in Officeworks. Stock some when similar deal is available again. As mentioned below, unfortunately Officeworks has already matched the price.

  • +2

OW already matched the price earlier this morning…

    • +1

Bummer! Thanks for the updates. I have updated the title.

  • +1

JB may do a price beat since their price is still $339, but maybe not 5%. (Can use discounted Ultimate GCs though)

I’ve decided to wait until Apple’s special event in 2 weeks and see what they announce!

Heads up that all AirPods charging cases are rumoured to switch to USB-C along with the iPhone 15. Might be worth waiting for that before looking for a deal if you want to futureproof yourself.

    • +2

Wouldn't bother me. I use wireless charging for them. But it is a good point.

    • Good point but the current USB-C to Lightning cable would ease the transition. This cable is included stock with recent iPhones.

JB HiFi have been at $339 for at least a month.

Why FB market place is flooded with these for under $200? Has anyone bought it from there and were they genuine at all?

    • +2

Definitely fakes - meanwhile FB blocked my genuine listing lol…

    • better buy these from trusted retailers like iTechno, Hoshbosh limited and Juicygadget

    • +1

I'd rather spend the extra money to ensure I have a genuine product otherwise you might end up with a knockoff from Temu for 10X the price.

    • +1

recently bought a pair…..lucky the seller refunded me.
I must say they go for 130 to 150 on FB. These are really good fakes. The serial works, box looks good, but upon comparing with my genuine one from apple store, you do see the difference.

They even pair up and show up identical in APP on iphone.
but the only difference is the noise cancellation. fakes wont be able to obtain that technology…maybe it's too expensive to add in that, otherwise would have been a sub 200 pair of airpods itself.

I am an expert now at identifying fakes i think….now looking at buying from amazon though…save the hassle.

My brother got his for $227

    • Lol whattt

    • I've attempted to acquire it at a similar price at least 5 times and I got a fake one every time. Luckily, I got my money back.

    • Did he purchase those AirPods or was that the receipt he was given?

      • Both. The AirPods are clearly underneath the receipt :)

        • Sorry, what I meant to ask is, was he the original purchaser of those AirPods? Anyone can get given that as a “receipt” for fakes.

    • oh wow, where did he price match from?

      • I have no idea lol. Forgot to ask him.

        • Can you go back and ask him?

    • +1

Who would’ve guessed! You share your bargain instincts with your family

  • +8

Just an FYI - a revised version of these with USB-C instead of lightning port will likely be released in early September, then the lightning port versions could go on steep discount as clearance, that's what I'm holding out for!

  • Why is the price of these still don’t go lower than Amazon’s $319 preorder price a year ago when on special??

  • +2

Yeah I wouldn’t buy these now unless you’re desperate. Like people have said, either wait for the new USB C one, or if you don’t care/use wireless charging exclusively, pick them up in 3 ish weeks when the existing lighting ones reach the bargain bin.

Down with lightning, all hail USB C

  • Just get them to pricematch 'WeeklySales' who have it for $290 - so you can snag them for $275.50
Under no circumstances should you buy them from Weekly Sales…

    • Do office works price match weekly sales in store??

      • They did for me last month

        • Same I got a few last month for $250 but that was when they had the Australian model number listed. They've now changed it to grey import

      • I’ve tried over the phone and in store, both times they declined due to the site saying direct import.

  • Price matched at my local OW and JB yesterday for $290 (WeeklySales).

  • Yep. In Geelong.

  • This should probably be posted as a new deal but Im new to all this ozbargin stuff and dont want to get flamed for an incorrect posting.

I managed to have office works price beat air pod pro 2s with the below eBay listing.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404480295312?epid=7050835696&has…

    Final price was $234.17

Totally agree that buying lightening is risky but at this price my concerns disapeared.

If there’s interest I can upload my receipt.

    • The link is dead lol :( - you must've gotten lucky because I've never heard officeworks price matching with an ebay listing

      • I managed to get Officeworks to match an eBay listing for a mesh wifi system that I wanted (TP-Link Deco x68) - a few months ago. Basically they just looked at the listing on my phone, saw that it was an Aussie retailer (not a private sale), that it was in stock, and that the serial numbers matched. They also added postage to the price of the eBay listing, naturally, but I still managed to get them to match the price minus 10%… I think it was around $350 at Officeworks, the Ebay listing was $280, so after the price beat it was around $266.

Ultimately, at least in my mind, Officeworks should treat certain eBay listings like any other online retailer - as long as it's a genuine store selling on eBay, it's in stock, not an import and the serial number etc match… I think that's how I managed to do it. And I think it depends on who serves you, I did that in-store at a quiet time and the guy I spoke with was super friendly. Other times I have asked them to match online and in-store retailers, and they've refused to do it, for random reasons such as "oh we only beat local businesses, it doesn't matter if you can buy the item online and have it shipped for cheaper"… A good reason why I really like using JB's online chat for price matching their products. They are super lax, they've matched dodgy as online retailers when I sent through the link, no issue. I managed to get a Bose Soundlink Flex via that method for $150 new, i.e. well beyond cost, after sending them the link to a random store online. All without needing to awkwardly ask in-store or be denied over the phone (not that I have ever been denied by JB online).

Anyway, I'm also in the market for the Airpods Pro 2nd Gen, but am struggling to find any good deals via genuine, legitimate stores. I really thought the lightning version would go down in price significantly… seemingly it's stayed the same, or slightly less. I don't mind the lightning connector - firstly because ultimately, I won't use these very much and will hence need to charge them infrequently, secondly because I have a 50cm USB-C to lightning cord anyway which is super portable, fourthly because I have a set of Sony XM4s (over ear) which are my workhorse headphones, and finally, I will very likely wirelessly charge them Airpods anyway. I upgraded from the iPhone 11 to the 15 Pro on release day, so am now almost fully in the USB-C ecosphere… my Macbook Air M2 is also USB-C, my diffuser is USB-C, my power bank charges at 50w through USB-C etc. So lightning is a pain, just slightly, but at the same time, if I can save $100+ simply for that slight inconvenience, I'll do it.

Let me know if you're in the market as well for these, and please let me know if you find any good deals. I'm hoping to get them for under $300, there are some on eBay selling for less than that, even sellers with 100% positive feedback from hundreds of reviews, but they're all private sales… often for prices like $240, which I'm sure you will've seen. It just makes me nervous! Why and how would someone be selling dozens of these for way less than other stores, as a private individual, and making a profit despite selling them below cost? Weird.

        • Oh dam I wonder if JB could've priced EB Games online that had the PS5 for as low as $609 with coupon applied. Also that's a long ass paragraph lmao. I suppose the risk with going with online stores if you never know if they're genuine or not. Then again, there have been rare cases of some getting fake airpods from Officeworks and they refused to refund. The 15% ultimate card they had going on just now can only bump down the USB C version to $340 but no more.

      • I noticed this the next day after buying.when I was in store buying I had a good chat to the office works staff member who turned out to be the manager. The general rule is. They will price match eBay if it’s a Aussie retailer and it’s listed as new in box or says sealed. E.g no private sale.

My advice would be go in talk to them about there policy and be nice about it. Then show them some eBay listings and say surely you can’t price match this one. See if they bite.

That’s all I did. The sadest part of it all was after all the negotiating my wife didn’t even like them because they were in ear design but I couldn’t walk away from the deal so I had to buy the pros for me and then bought some Gen 3s for her. Sadly could only get $50 off the gen3s. In other words I got the AirPod pro 2s for cheaper than the Gen 3s…….

        • Solid advice. Looks like you got lucky talking to the store manager. ebay listings are typically a no go even if its from a reputable seller. Might try that out in the future!
