      • But bridging visa is indefinite, so is that ok?

        • Yes I had a cousin apply for the Anz Velocity card and got approved on a bridging visa so guess you're ok.

I'll continue to provide a negative rating to any ANZ deal until they fix their application process which currently is done entirely offshore. Bear in mind that any data you provide will be processed by an external party overseas and you will be turned away at the branch if you need help with your application. Your application may get stuck for over a month and you might receive calls asking for the same information over and over again with no way to cancel. Ombudsman involvement may be required to resolve issues as local staff, branches and callcentre will not be able to assist you due to their "system".

    • +2

      Amen to that .. 😥 .. !

    • +1

Hmm, had this happen to me once some 3 years ago, ever since the process has been instantaneous (no secondary checks needed).

      • That's great, unfortunately it seems to be a raffle experience if your application is instant or has to go through the labyrinth of the offshore team with lost documentation and endless follow ups. I have been telling my network to avoid ANZ entirely for this risk.

    • +1

Mine got approved in 3 days from application a month ago

    • Mine have been super smooth since updating my pay to go into an ANZ debit account. Don't even need payslips anymore.

    • Yes me too they kept asking for payslip from week one to end of week 2 delaying the approval so to pass the offer date I believe that’s their strategy. Felt so bad with ANZ

      • it doesnt matter when the card is approved, its all about the application date

if you apply before the offer ends, all g
if you apply after the offer ends, bad luck

What is the annual income requirement?

  • +3

ANZ customer service has dropped to new depths.
Cant go to my local branch without an appointment now. Cant withdraw money from a branch. Branch only open 930 to 4 weekdays - so if you work you cant get in anyway.
Phone line is overseas call centre and wait times is 30 min to an hour.

Had an issue with this card - was charged a fee I should not have been. Took 3 phone calls over 2 days and 3hrs plus to fix it.

Current ANZ customer (Credit Cards for 4 years, moved our mortgage to ANZ as of the last month or two) and was just Rejected for this Credit Card. My normal ANZ Credit Card is the Rewards Platinium that I've had for about 3 years now and never missed a payment nor even had to pay any interest (always paid off right away).

No idea why they would Reject me, Credit Score is Excellent also.

I tried to call the general Credit Cards number and it says there's nobody to take my call.

    Annoying!

    • +2

Is your income enough to cover realistic living expenses for you and your dependants and all of your existing debt plus this new credit card? You need to calculate it as if all of your credit cards are maxed out and you are paying interest, allowing for further interest rate rises.

    • +1

No idea why they would Reject me, Credit Score is Excellent also.

They don't need to provide a reason, i wouldn't try to chase it up.

      • +1

Yeah I know they don’t, not gonna waste my breath asking them. Just annoying that I can make an easy $350 😂

Can someone please guide me towards a proper online guide on how these work? I've never had cards like this. Do I have to transfer money into it from my current credit card and then spend the required amount? If yes, then what are the "repayments" referring to? What's the minimum credit limit? What does it take to cancel the card?

    • This is no different to any other credit card. You apply, get approved, receive the card, then make purchases. At the end of the (statement) month you pay the bank back.

If by 'credit card' you mean a debit card, credit cards are different. Debit card = you spend whatever's in your bank account. Credit card = you spend the bank's money first, then pay them back later. I would not recommend getting any credit card unless you are familiar with how they work.

All info about minimum credit limit, repayments, etc. is here: https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/low-annual-fee-…

I have a debit car based on your explanation. Going to stay away from this deal then as I've never had a credit card and I don't want to spend hours reading on them. Thanks for the info mate.

        • User name check out !!

  • I literally signed up before the promo came out.

Going to withdraw app to get the $350 instead of $250

  • Damn, I just got approved for regular one with $94 annual fee and need to spend $2000.

  • spend $1,500 on eligible purchases within the first 3 months

    is gift cards eligible?

    • Yes

  • Is this the best gift card reward at the moment for new credit card with a maximum expense of 2000A$?

    • +1

No, the best deal would be the NAB velocity deal, spend $1000 and get 120,000 nab points worth approx $600 in gc.
If you meet the spend limit quick you can cancel the card before being charged annual fee

      • hey thanks for that i just checked it out. What do you mean by "If you meet the spend limit quick you can cancel the card before being charged annual fee"? U mean the first year 95A$ fee? How is that possible

        • +2

The annual fee gets charged in the first statement, if you meet minimum spend in first 1-2 weeks you should get the points a week after you meet minimum spend.

Redeem points straight away the cancel card all before receiving first statement.

Even if you end up paying the annual fee it’s the best deal at the moment, I got instantly approved. ANZ are useless at applications.
I wouldn’t bother applying unless it’s the black card offering 110k+ points

          • @Brick50: May be a dumb question. When you applied online, you got instant approval, but it takes a few days for the card to be mailed to you before you can use?
So technically a few days are lost in the first 1-2 weeks?

            • +1

@yanlianglee: You can use apple pay near on instantly through the app

          • @Brick50: Apparently the NAB points will be automatically swapped with velocity points for 2 to 1. So 60000 velocity will be circa 300A$

            • @Bullish01: You redeem the 120k nab points on the nab rewards store before they get converted to velocity points. I didn’t even put in my VFF number so no way for them to convert to VFF points. I chose to convert to flybuys on nab rewards for $600 fly buys dollars

Even if they did, you can sell velocity points for 1-1.1c on ozb classified so still worth $600-$660

              • @Brick50: Hey man thanks for the answer, if i spend 1000A$ in the first week of acceptance after how long will i receive the 120k nab points?

  • I already have other CCs with a total credit limit of $17k. Just wondering if there are other members here who got approved with that limit or higher. Thanks.

  • +1

What is considered $1,500 on eligible purchases? Sorry I don't use credit card but this deal seems to be quite good

    • pretty much anything except: cash advances, gambling of any kind, government charges (think ato)

      • Just wanted to mention that I believe ATO transactions are included as eligible. I made a $1900 ATO payment (and only that) on my credit card. If I look at my statement, it says a line:
"$18,100 eligible purchases required to receive Annual Fee Waiver of $87 on your next Annual Fee Date, which is dd/mm/yyyy"

That tells me the transaction does meet the criteria of "eligible purchase" for ANZ. I'm fairly confident that'll carry over to this gift card offer as well.

The T&C's also don't specifically exclude government transactions, as far as I can tell. They list a bunch of other stuff excluded stuff as you have, but not government.

I'll find out for sure when I receive the offer.

  • Was a pain to get approved for rewards platinum, but free money is money

  • Any chance a student gets approved?

    • Depends on how much you work and how many expenses you have. With a $6000 minimum credit limit, even though there is no stated minimum income level, I'd reckon based on ANZ's other cards that you'd need to earn at least $35-45k with minimal expenses. If you have a lot of expenses (e.g. 600pw rent) your income needs to be much higher.

  • If I have had the ANZ Rewards Platinum earlier this year, I believe I can still apply for this one considering it's a different product/category of the card. Can someone please confirm?

  • Someone needs to contact ANZ and ask if other rewards cards would require a cooling off period before being eligible for this one. Seems like a lot of us are unsure and no one had the answer!

      King kong on 11/09/2023 - 18:18
I Just called up and confirm that will be eligible for for the bonus g/c as this is separate product to ANZ rewards and FF

  • can i pay my ATO bill using this credit card?

  • All in one shop? How does that work for uber eats? Can you load the $350 gift card onto your uber eats account and obviously order many times rather than one huge $350 order?

  • Just got approved.

I have mortgage + 3x 6k credit cards open too , this will be my 4th. Was expecting a knockback to be honest.

  • Anyone known if i am epigible if I've had the anz low rate card in the past 12 months?

  • +1

Anyone know how we receive these gift cards? Do they email it to you after you have met the spending criteria?

    • They'll email/SMS you a link to claim

      • hope its not like last time and you have to chase them for it

  • How to activate this card?
I am not an existing ANZ customer.

I got the credit card delivered but there is no CRN or pin to log into the ANZ app.

    • Did you figure this out ? I am struggling too. No customer number received nor found in the paperwork I received. Trying to call the 133273 number but it keeps on getting disconnected.
      Any help is appreciated!

      • It was a nightmare.

Had to call 131314 several times until I got connected to the right agent who told me my CRN and telepin to login to the app.

Will never recommend this type of unstructured service again to anyone!

        • I know mate. What a frickin disaster. They send you a new CC but not the CRN number to link it. I am going to visit the branch tomorrow to fetch my CRN. :(

          • @ThePeterGriffin: I know I'm late to the party, but just going through this process now. I'm currently on hold listening to the same 20 seconds of 'Raspberry Beret' over and over, after going around in circles for the last hour. I haven't even used the card and I can't wait to cancel it!

  • applied today theb the system asked me to upload documents

    • +1

Yeah I had to upload some payslips last week, still waiting for something to happen after that..

      • so inefficient?

      • It's probably sitting in the queue. I called to follow up and they processed it straight away.

        • After I sent CommBank my payslips a couple of weeks back, they never even replied and the card just turned up. Thought maybe ANZ followed the same process but we'll see.

          • @ausmisc: In the pass they have always send a email saying that you have been approved for the card, last time(2 months ago) I called up and they checked my payslips and then approved me,

I applied for this card 5 days ago and haven’t heard anything yet

        • Thanks for the tip. They also processed it straight after the call for me.

  • i remembered last time they offered 500$ instead, but 350$ back still a good deal

  • From pointshack
“Worth noting that the gift card can only be redeemed at a single retailer. It has to be a single $350 gift card and is not possible to split the gift card across 2 or more shops”

    So a $350 Uber eats order/woolworths shop?

    • +1

Hm I read that as you can't split it across 2 or more different businesses. Like if you you want to redeem it at Bunnings, then you'll have to spend the whole $350 at Bunnings, but can still use the card across multiple dates/purchases.

      • yes

  • Offer is for new and approved credit card applicants and is limited to one offer per applicant.

Does it mean I have to be a new ANZ customer?
Or does it mean I have to not have had this ANZ Platinum Visa Card? (I currently have an ANZ First Visa credit card)

    • ANZ Platitum Visa Card!

  • It’s ripped off as they delayed my application.
Have applied for 2 weeks still keeping asking for one more payslip said missing. Why so different to other banks. So frustrated with this bank.

  • What a joke, they require 3 months worth of payslips, no thanks!

  • Do you need to be approved by September 30 (offer end date) or just finish the application by then?

    • have an application lodged in the system by then

  • i called anz regarding this specific point hacks offer and they said it is advertised incorrectly it should be $250 not $350

    • Or they were confused with their own deal?

ANZ: $250 cashback with annual fee
PH: $350 cashback with no annual fee for first year.

      • I asked specifically the point hacks deal - he said it was advertised incorrectly. There is a possibility he had no idea that there is 2 deals going on. I'm not sure. However, he did confirm if you held a normal platnium card in the past 12 months you won't be eligible even if it was for another offer.

        • they have no idea who or what a "pointshack" is, they will be referring "mistakenly" to their own deal

    • If you check the link/ Point Hack website, it is now offering the $250 credit back to your credit card account. I couldn't see any end date for this promo.

  • If we have applied prior to 30/9 but get approved afterwards are we still eligible for the GC?

    • It should be cause in the t&c it mentions apply by 30th Sept. I'm in the same boat as I applied on 24th Sept and just got approved!

  • Applied 25/09, conditionally approved 26/09 they asked for payslips again, called 27/09 and they processed while on the phone and approved application. Asked to perform online ID verification. Failed online ID verification, now have to go into branch… annoying but gone too far to back out now.

    • Approved after calling them, but can't see card on app. Was hoping to use apple pay before card arrives but looks like not possible

  • Hmm I have about $4.5k left of braces bill outstanding with my dental that I'm paying $350 monthly, maybe I should get this.

    • dental plan

  • anyone has difficult experience in calling ANZ's credit card team?

I called 131314 and then said "something else" after saying "credit card" then the call automictically said "due to current event, your call cannot be answered"

  • If the approval comes after the promotion end date, does the promotion still apply? I started the application several weeks ago

    • Want to know too. They are slow as hell

  • +1

I have met the spend requirement last week. Anybody knows how soon would I receive the bonus? and where can I see it?

    • +1

Messaged them via the bank app, got a reply after 5 days!

Once you've met the requirements, to redeem the Digital Gift Card, we will send the an: (i) SMS with a link to a redemption website with the Reward Code to enable the customer to continue with the redemption process; or (ii) Email with their Reward Code and the customer will need to click on the Redemption link to continue through to the redemption website.

      • That's good to know. Did you manage to check if you're eligible for the $350 g/c rather than the standard promo $250 Cashback on ANZ website? When I called up they're only aware of the standard promo and was told to get in touch with points hack

      • How soon after meeting the spend requirement until sms/email with reward code received?

      • Did you get the SMS/email yet?

        • no not yet, a bit slow

          • @OzBargainAO: Commented to stay updated, I am in a same situation now also

        • have you got it? 350 bonus?

    • have you got the bonus gift card?

  • Does it show anywhere in ANZ document (welcome pack, letter of offer emails, in the account itself, etc) that you are qualified for the bonus?

I wouldn't want to start spending on this card without knowing that the transactions will be going towards the $350 gift card bonus, and could have been spent on another card collecting rewards/award points.

    • No. Just a standard package/mail about your account. That's applied to virtually all cc applications. You just need keep screen grab of the promotion just in case.
