  • Oof now this is a deal!

  • Am seriously considering a $1500-2000 prebuilt for a rig to last me another 10 or so years and looking at builds from likes of these guys, nebula and enigma which all seem to have been getting good feedback from forum members. My last rig was powered by rtx2070.

Is now the time to jump back in? I’ve been ootl for like at least 7 years…

    • +1

the eternal question is always can you wait for Black friday . 2nd question is will BF have amazing deal?

obviously these seller are telling us price will rise, it is up to you to trust them or not

      • +1

i dont really remember seeing any pc deals for BF last year actually..though i really only started paying attention to these kind of deals this week lol

        • +2

i wasnt shopping for PC last few years as well, last year was also weird bec of all the mining thing going crazy/bust.
Regardless from my pov it would be a big surprise if we dont get any PC related deal for BF considering PC part generally "lose value" as time goes on and it is a such big shopping season.

However the whole dollar situation is something else.

I would suggest you picking up a AM5 platform with DDR5 RAM rather than Am4/DDR4 if possible though, considering that means you will be able to upgrade much easier in the future.

This is end of AM4 (since AM5 is already out) so i would not recommend anyone going for it unless you know what you are doing 100%

  • +11

Why do you always use the absolute worst motherboard on the market? it's somewhat expected for a cheap build like the 799 3060ti, but for this one, a MB with only 2 ram, a single M2, and no space for a WiFi card breaks the whole deal! At least, have an upgrade option.

    • +7

Reasonable call on upgrade, we've added the MSI Gaming Plus which is one of the few available in quantity as this generation's availability winds down as 7000 series gear scales up. The base motherboard is purely a cost/value and availability thing.

    • +1

I agree on the no M.2 slots but the ram… most kits only come with 2×sticks. You're not gonna miss out on much there. I'm using a rog B550-a and F4-3600C18Q-32GTZN 4× sticks… can't tell the diff between 2 or 4 really. Only filled the 4 because i could

      • +3

It's not the speed/perf difference, but ideally I want 32gb ram and I don't want to pay an extra 109$ for a 16gb 3200 ram upgrade, as I can easily get these half the price somewhere else, if I have 4 Ram, and 2 M2, I can buy the PC and upgrade later on by adding (instead of replacing)

    • +2

Agree, I pass on all techfast deals mostly because of bad mobos. The other stuff you can replace yourself but being stuck with a low end mobo makes the 1-200 savings not worth it.

    • The new upgrade option has something annoying from MSI

MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus [ATX] Motherboard ($119.00)

      1x PCIe 4.0/ 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E1) 1
      1x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E3), supports x4 speed 2
      2x PCIe 3.0 x1 slots
The supported specification depends on installed processor.
When installing PCIe SSD in M.2_2, PCI_E3 slot will be unavailable.

Essentially, if someone wants to use a WiFi card on the PCIe slot, they can't install a PCIe SSD in the 2nd slot of M.2

thats pretty sweet… though i just cant do ddr4…

    • What's wrong with DDR4?

      • -3

ddr4 3200 spec came out 9 years ago… my kids i5 3rd generation runs it.. i cant buy a new PC running such old spec.. if im buying a new PC it needs to be ddr5. though to each their own..

        • That's a bit of a silly way to look at it. DDR3, that would make sense. But DDR4 is still a crapload faster and still holds its own. How often do you upgrade your ram? Over the past 9years…. maybe once, if no ever. DDR4 is cheap and will still be around for years to come. You'll upgrade windows faster than ram

        • +2

yeah, if your buying pc in 2023 ddr5 at least but lots of negs here, guess they buy new comp each year

          • @botchie: I dunno how some people can afford to upgrade their pc every year or a top-end gpu every time a new series comes out. All for only a few fps more (if it's for gaming)

            • @teddiebear: look its a hobby for some, some buy new car every 3 years and lose buckets of $$, each to their own, I like to keep myn for few years at least but when I was younger I hardly had any spare cash for an upgrade

        • +2

I'd love to know how your kid is running DDR4 in an Intel i5 3rd gen since 6th gen is when DDR4 support came out.

    @luketechfast

Hi Luke, my PC arrived today (Order: TF4869256202) can't start up.

Only ram light flashing when I plug in the power cod and press switch on buttom.

Other than that nothing else is working - even the fan.

It seems to me like a PSU issue.

Could you please advise??? Or can you PM me a phone number to contact you??

    • Do the fans spin? make sure your plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard for video out

      • no, fan is not working.

nothing is working apart from the ram RGB light

    • +1

I've PMd you and you'll get a call shortly too.

      • thanks Luke,

Zac called me. He believes its a motherboard issue.

Hope it will get resolved soon

  • +2

This is not the first time I purchase PC with you.

Last one I purchased (2019) was having similar PSU issue when pc arrived.

How come has same issue again ?? :(

    • +10

How come you think this is the best method for gaining support?

      • +2

I'm not sure I understand this question, asking in a open forum would mean that the issue is brought to the attention of other potential customers, meaning their issue is more likely to be resolved as if it weren't it would reflect negatively on the sellers business.

        • -1

Exactly. No one is perfect things happen. He should approach the business through their offered support mechanisms. The first action should not be trying to publicly shame/ berate/humiliate them. If this is the first they are hearing of this customers issue its a bit unfair isn't it? I read the above and all I see is a 'karen' stopping their foot demanding special treatment.

But you know - it works so people do it, and they got call.

          • +2

@Elijha: Whilst I can somewhat agree with your argument, In this case I don't think the other user particularly shamed them? The user first commented that they were having issues and requested a line of communication, their subsequent comment stated that it wasn't the first time they've had an issue with a purchase from techfast. As a customer, they're simply using whatever means they have access to, to address their issue.

Could they have first googled and and contacted techfast more privately? Yes - but that would mean one less public review on someone's purchase experience with techfast, Further to this there's even a recent forum post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/796656, where another user (up to you as to whether you consider it an overreaction) has complained about the lack of response from techfast via official channels - a different user even commenting that ozbargain/facebook are faster channels to get a response from.

The above comments don't particularly come across to me as rude or aggressive/whiney, and so I still don't understand why they're being berated. They're just using the available means (and seemingly best means) to have their issue resolved - something that should be supported as everyone else here but luke are also potential customers. And if it takes a negative review to have their issue summarily addressed, then I'm all the more for it - again as a potential customer.

        • Exactly I'm looking to get a PC soon and support is a key consideration so I'm following this closely and see nothing wrong with posting issues here. It's how issues are resolved

          • @chk: @chk. You might be keen - but thats the flaw with this method. You won't see how it is resolved. They are not going to show you how expertly they do the trouble shooting here, nor necessarily explain the problem - they will (as they have done) take it offline. Techfast won't come back and say 'were awesome all solved' because that won't be read well. Instead you (and they) have to hope the poster comes back and updates everyone and they may not. People generally don't go around saying how good things are. And that then leaves this post open ended with I believe a negative connotation to it. (now this thread has replies on it so he/she/they might just be more likely to do that).

Now there may be a deeper issue here. Techfast might have difficult avenues of support, or poor support - or a production issue - I don't know. But that's not the argument initially put here by the poster. It was the 'I have an issue service me now' without any indication they had attempted to contact them directly, or really any depth of information that they could possibly respond with a real solution. That 'triggered me'.

            • @Elijha: fair call, for me this is only 1 example, I've been following these threads with interest from various sellers so that's my motive in all of this, I am still on the fence which who to go to for a pc

      • +2

Probably because it gets the fastest response.
I'm in the same boat. Machine arrived but is unusable as it is constantly resetting itself. Sent an email yesterday morning. Hopefully Techfast will respond soon.

    • -1

Why wouldn't you call them to ask about a problem? What a bizarre method of reaching out for help lol

      • +1

They have no contact number for you to call.

        • -2

          1300 898 956

          Or

          [email protected]

That took me literally 3 seconds of using google.

          • +4

@Ruddaga: Have you tried this number yourself before posting?

I actually did, this number 1300 898 856 is for another company call cruise fast or something

          • +1

@Ruddaga: That's a fake 1300 898 956 number I think. It's for CRUISE FIRST your one stop shop for cruising. Maybe it's CRUISE FAST? Not sure.

  • I would really appreciate if anyone can help here. I've seen heaps of deals recently but I'm only interested in a rig for machine learning stuff and not gaming. My budget is around $1500-$1800 and 4070 TI seems to be the best option at this price range. What would you recommend to change/update in this setup or maybe even the other ones posted by Nebula: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/798731

    Thanks in advance.

    • +6

The nebula is a much better deal, you'll get AM5, much better MB, 32GB of DDR5 5200 ram, slightly better CPU, and 3 years warranty for an extra ~200$
I am in the same market but waiting for a good deal on a 4070 or anything around 1400

      • Though if I remember correctly BPC had an even better 4070 TI deal.. though not sure if it's coming back

        • Thanks mate! Why AM5 is better? Also, which motherboards give the chance for future proofing? Or even a dual GPU setup in the future? And what other things should I be focusing on: power supply maybe (at least 750 I think?), cooling system?…

          • +4

@mc7alazoun: all future CPU (from AMD) will be on AM5 platform, until they switch to AM6.

There will be no new product for AM4 platform, so lets say 3-5 years later, you want to upgrade your PC. If you get AM4 now, you are limited to just get whatever best AM4 CPU AMD has (which is not that much better than the one here 5700x).

But if you are on AM5, you can get a CPU just released by AMD.

Also AM5 require DDR5 RAM, which again will be the future.

Saying all of these, to keep price down, the Motherboard offered in prebuild PC are generally very basic, so its ability to be upgraded is limited.

I would say you want a b650 Motherboard for future proofing (these are AM5 with DDR5). Ideally mid-tier not low end.

Dual GPU is quite out of fashion these days. i would not suggest building towards one. you also need much better MB to support 2 GPU.

Power you want at least 750W for a normal PC. If you want dual GPu, you are going to need 1000+ easily (each graphics card need somewhere b/w 250-400 W)

            • @jenesis33: Legend! Would you recommend the rig by Nebula? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/798731

              • +4

@mc7alazoun: All i can say it is good value however there will be a few upgrade i feel it is must have.
                1. CPU cooler, stock cooler is just not good. I would pay for the upgrade to AK400 at the very least, if not AK500.

                1. SSD size, i dont know about you, but my current PC use about 2TB of storage. So for me 500GB is a joke and no where close to enough.

There is an argument which can be made to just buy the 500GB SSD and buy a new SSD yourself and put it in. it is really quite simple. But how much storage a person need is really up to you. I would suggest get the upgrade to 2TB.

Rest parts are basic (like MB/RAM/PSU) but will do its job. With the 2 upgrade, it will be over your budget. I still think if i were you, i would go for cheaper 4070 build to stay in budget rather than stretch for 4070 TI

Also AMD CPU are not as good as Intel when it comes to multi core and productivity related tasks. It can match Intel for gaming, but you said that is not your concern.

So maybe save the money on GPU (go for 4070 no TI) and get an intel based build instead like 13600KF or "to be released soon" 14th gen intel.

            • @jenesis33: kudo👍…may be write more often ?

May be upgrade-path & future-proofing are myth formulated to get MORE-gamers to pay more than needed ?

              • @ab c: i think it comes down to value/what you get.

Like everyone know Intel 13th gen is end of road (14th gen is pretty much same) and 15th gen will use new MB. we can still recommend ppl buying into 13th gen.

However the cost difference b/w AM4 vs AM5 is relative minor, so it doesn't make sense to me at least buying into AM4 right now.

For example Nebula build is relative similar priced with AM5 platform. i would say that is a better deal.

      • @ozbozb: regarding your comments '..waiting for a good deal on a 4070 or anything around 1400'.

May be list the parts…be-realistic ? Thanks

  • What's people's experience with 7040ti? I am looking to run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 at decent ghaphics setting.

  • Can we have upgrade options for tower cooler and onboard wifi for the motherboard please.

        Hi team,
I deeply apologise for this, and thank you so much for resolving it.
Rest assured, we will ensure it does not happen again.

      • Easy now tiger

  • Hey Luke,

Weird question, do you have a PC case that would support possibly 4 or 5 HDD's (minus the one that is included in the deal)

    • Dude. Dump the hdds

  • Great deal really. Good job guys. This would satisfy any gamer who was happy with 1440p and 60hz .

Ultra/high all the way on nearly every 2023 title .
4k with a bit of tweaking and upscaling as well

Would recommend upgrading to a 2tb SSD though
