Trade-in an Eligible Mobile and Receive a Bonus $300 Discount Coupon for a Google Pixel Series @ JB Hi-Fi

3520

Assuming you have some device to trade in, JB Hifi via the SquaretradeUP platform is offering a bonus $300 coupon for the Pixel series. Not sure if it's meant for Pixel 8, but the code works for a Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 series. Campaign Period: 12 Sept 23 - 27 Sept 23

For example - if you trade in a phone worth $160, you'll get:

  • $160 JB Gift Card that you can spend on anything as your trade-in credit
  • $300 Discount Code on a "Pixel Series" phone

Assuming you were spending it on a Pixel 7 device, you'd pay $699 (JB's listed price) - $300 (bonus coupon) - $160 (JB GC) = $239

Given JB is matching the Google Store deals, the prices below are what you'd pay post $300 discount

* Google Pixel 7 Pro 5G 128GB for $899 - $300 = $599 price now back up to $999
* Google Pixel 7a 5G 128GB for $749 - $300 = $449 - ask JB to price match Google Store and pay $349
* Google Pixel 7 5G 128GB for $699 - $300 = $399 price now back up to $899

Copypaste from the bonus trade in coupon section:

Trade-in orders cancelled during Coupon Promo, will be charged the full Trade-in value of the JB Credit eGift Card on their nominated Credit Card, regardless if the JB Credit eGift Card has not been used.

There is a limit of 1 coupon per Trade-in order.

Simply follow these 4 Steps:

  1. Get a trade-in valuation of $1.00 or more via the JB Hi-Fi Trade-in website.
  2. If you accept the valuation, and then complete the Trade-in process, you will immediately receive your JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit eGift card via email.
  3. In addition you are able to select the bonus coupon offer and we will send an immediate email containing your unique one-time bonus coupon code.
  4. Apply both your Trade-in Credit eGift card and bonus coupon towards the purchase of the eligible device.

    • Why? They’re only supposed to charge the trade in value right? Or did you trade in something worth $300?

      • In my case, they charged the trade in value immediately after they approved my application, not after few days.

        • Yes same here, but they’re only charging you the trade in value and not the $300 bonus value. This makes sense cause they’ve issued you a JB gift card for the trade in value already,

Just do a $20 trade in on an old laptop and never send it in. That way is just the same as buying a $20 jb voucher but you still get the $300 bonus

          • @evasive: I may not make it clear.

I trade in pixel 6 and got gift card of 230. I also got $300 pixel discount code in email. However, JB told me the code is expired. Send an email to square trade, get new code at second day, went to In, and expired again.
Send an another email yesterday and still not respond. And this morning 230 deducted from card. I plan is use 230 and 300 plus $169 to pruchase pixel 7 , then post the pixel 6 to square trades, and no money charged square trade. I do not need pxiel 6 once I got pixel 7.

The square trade website clearly mentioned that 7 days to post phone, only charge the trades in value if they are not received the phone after 15 days.
            Today is day 2

            • +4

@lyltc520: It’s a $230 authorisation hold, which they charge immediately and tell you this upfront. If you send the device in within 7 days, the $230 charge is lifted. If you don’t send it in, the $230 charge stays. That’s how it works. Because you have been issued a $230 jb gift card that they cannot take back.

Now, in order to get your $300 bonus voucher working, click the link/image for it in the original email they sent and a new one will be sent to your email that works. I and many others followed this process without issue.

              • @evasive: The new code is working. But the JB put the price back to 999 instead of 699. And ask me to pay $469 instead of $169. They cancel the transaction and try again, but the code and gift card already used .and can not use again. Lol.

Now after 30 minutes, they still try to fix it.

                • @lyltc520:

The new code is working. But the JB put the price back to 999 instead of 699. And ask me to pay $469 instead of $169. They cancel the transaction and try again

If you saw the price was $469 why did you still continue with the order and use gift card and the code?

After you've got it both refunded, I suggest you go on live chat and explain to them your issue, and ask for them to price match either their old price ($699) or price match lavatech ($649).

Online is a lot easier to order and you will instantly know if the code works. You can still choose click and collect even same day if you order early.

                  • @CodeXD: I told them to check the price and she asked the manager to cancel the transaction and process it again.

But I saw her use another physical JB gift card and apply it to the transaction, and my invoice showing the phone is $399 and minus the $230 gift card, so the final price is $169. I think she can not use the 300 discount code and trade in the gift card again as those already used in the first transaction.

So after discussing with her manager, she lowered the phone price to 399 and used a new gift card on it.

                • @lyltc520: Just get them to price match lavatech for $649. Simple.

Your code will work as long as you don’t pay and checkout, otherwise you’ll need a new code and for that you’ll need to email square up if it won’t generate you a new one with the link in the original email.

Seems like Telstra has the Pixel 7 for $699 if you cannot get the Lavetech price match.
    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/g…

Edit: they will not accept this as it needs Telstra ID.

    • I am T customer as well. They honored the 699 for me finally. So the cost of pixel 7 = 169+ two-year-old pixel 6.

      • I tried but without any luck. How did you manage it?

  • Anyone has any luck got JB price matched Lava Tech's pixel 7 price of $649 today?

  • Anyone has a screenshot for pricing matching at $649 for pixel 7? Thanks

  • +1

    They aren't matching Lava Tech's 649 for Pixel 7

If anyone did, please share the screenshot, so that we can try.

I did yesterday for 649 - and was told, they cant honour the 649 price today.

    • +1

I just bought one a moment ago, matched against Lava.
      May depend on the rep?

      • In store or online?

        • In-store
Prepared the trade-in and pixel voucher for counter payment

          • @LaGallina: Would mind share the receipt? Really appreciate that.

          • @LaGallina: I am on live chat with an agent at the moment. He asked some sort of proof. Hope you can help. Thanks.

      • Can you please give us the receipt screenshot please, if you don't mind. Thanks

        • +2
          • @LaGallinaTuruleca: Thanks a lot. Really appreciate. Will give it a try.

          • @LaGallinaTuruleca: Thank you very much. Now the online chat guy is asking for receipt number so that he can check. Unbelievable. If you mind I definitely understand. You can DM me if you don't mind. Just the receipt number. Appreciate it very much.

            • @bbking18: It's the Newby post limit that's got me :/

              https://ibb.co/kqxz78j

              GL

              • @LaGallinaTuruleca: Thanks so much. But I didn't get it. The agent I spoke with came up with something else. At first he said it involved trade in then he said his manager said no. So waste of time. He could have just refused straight away. Why asked for proof if not intending to price match. Never mind.

    • I was just told by a support agent that they would if I could show him some sort of proof that someone got it at $649 today.

      • Even after showing the invoice/receipt to them, they are not matching it now, some bizarre and peculiar behaviour shown by these live chat agents. Maybe they had too many requests and now just denying to match this completely.

        • Always tricky with online, I always try to go to the store if it has to do with JB

          • @LaGallinaTuruleca: I found instore is tricky too for the past. It all depends on who you spoke with. And it is not like if didn't get from first person I could turn around to find another sales person to ask for the same thing.

        • I also didn't get it. The agent I spoke with came up with something else.

          • @bbking18: Pixel 7 128GB at Lava Tech went up to $699 now

            • @Teenytiny: Haha, gave up already. Even at $699 JB won't price match them. They have a lot of excuses. Bottom line is that if they don't want to do it they will update their T&Cs to justify it. I was told they didn't even want to match Telstra's price $699. I was told all agents were told not to match Lava Tech and Telstra. They even advised all their stores. Although I am entirely sure if it is true.

              • @bbking18: Say you had issues with the squaretrade voucher and missed the JB sale when it was $699, they should price match that.

                • @CodeXD: It is not that simple unless I had obtained the price match basket sent to me before running into problems with squaretrade voucher. They were aware of trade in voucher problems.

                  • @bbking18: Why do you need a price match basket if you were going to buy it for $699 when JB deal was on? It was already listed at the price.

                    • @CodeXD: Don't understand that as well and didn't argue with them. They said that price unfortunately was over (their words). I guess if they want to refuse they would find reasons. They asked if I saw any other lower price otherwise the best they could do is $929.

    • Price match basket expires same day they provide it at midnight. So the only active price match baskets would have been provided by JB today.

      • Yes, I know. But I can always try.

  • oops, accidently unpublished my own message.

Is there anyone who was given a price match at $649 for pixel 7 before yesterday but didn't use the basket to checkout due to problems with square trade vouchers? Can you please DM me? Really appreciate it. Missed both pixel 6a and Samsung deals recently.

In the past, ozbargain community has always been very helpful.

    • How did you go with this?

      • No one contacted me with an expired price match link at $649.

However, another very nice person got me a price match link yesterday at $699. However, failed to receive trade in code.

  • Maybe try it in store? I'm heading to store later to see if they allow to price match.

  • I just did my trade in, I get an email that says 'click here for pixel coupon'. It just redirects to jb hi fi website and when I add pixel to my cart there is no $300 discount, any idea how to fix it?

    • +3

When you clicked the link for pixel coupon, you should receive another email with the code.

      • Thanks found it, what a weird way to do it haha!

    • +2

That must be the first email, there will another email after that.

  • +1

anyone try to stack with the 30off coupon? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800957

    • +1

Clearly says: "Cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon"

      • Doesn't mean it won't work!

        • Not sure what part of "Cannot" means it will work. Do however report back after you try and let us know in case there is a glitch on their systems and it works :-)

          • @Borg: They don't stack. You win this round!

            • @CodeXD: I know as clearly says: "Cannot be used." :-)

              • +2

@Borg: What it says and what the system accepts can be two totally different things.

There are plenty of hacks even on ozb where users have tested things and found it doesn't work as described to our advantage.

If you never try you'll never know.

              • @Borg: thx mate, I hold my trigger then…haha

    • someone tried already, doesn't work https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800957 and

  • Hi, i followed all the steps, got the $300 coupon applied, so pixel 7a: 749 - 300 = 449, and when I apply the gift card from the trade up during payment it was accepted but the total amount did not change… the give card has 150 on it.. what's the deal?

    • +2

Don't know why that did not work, but you should price match the 7a with Google Store for $649. then apply all the coupons.

  • Has anyone asked if the voucher will work for a pixel 8 pro?

    • +3

P8 is not out yet and this "$300 Bonus" deal ends 27th Sept.

  • Can I trade-in my Iphone 14 pro max 256gb for $1200 and receive $300 bonus credit? = $1500
And use it in Iphone 15 pro max 256gb for $2200. where $2200-$1500= $700(extra to pay for upgrade)
and use 15%Ultimate GC on $700= $105 off and that will cost me $600 for an upgrade?

  • Managed to get a match on the pixel 6 for $699 (lavatech) on my third in store rep, after trying online, and also calling up the hotline…so might just be worthwhile calling around until you find someone willing to do it for you

    • +2

      You meant pixel 7?

      • Yep sorry meant the 7

    • Lavatech are sold out so one wouldn't be able to price match there anymore for the Pixel 7 128GB.

      • +1

It's still showing as 2 units left? Otherwise you could also try price matching Telstra (will need to sign up with a Telstra ID)

        • Oh yeah, back in stock now! Nice one.
See below Telstra is not an option.

UPDATE: I asked if they would match Lavatech and said no as Boss has given instructions not to match them now!

          • @Borg: As above, just gotta call up individual stores and try until you get a rep happy to do it. In my case it was third times the charm

  • +1

Just to summarise what seems to have happened with the square trade $300 bonus coupon codes. (Details in all the comments)

Last Fri/Sat, codes issued started showing ‘expired’, replacement codes were being issued manually on request.
Then on Monday (18th Sept) morning someone at square trade reset the system, causing all codes issued prior to Monday morning, even the manual ones, to be marked as ‘expired’.
But the system reset also caused all the promo email links to be reset to “not issued” state.

So, if you were lucky enough to have used your bonus coupon code prior to Monday morning then you can get another code by clicking on the promo email link again.

Manual codes issued after Monday morning would still be active and you can also click on the promo email link again and get another working code.

Maybe we need a giveaway thread for those who do not need their second code.

(PS: DM me if you have one to spare. )

  • Telstra still showing 699 for pixel 7. But not sure if JB match it.

    Yes, you do Telstra id

    • You might have luck in store if you can show them that you have Telstra ID.

      • I asked and they said no as it requires membership (Telstra ID). Likewise online.

    • I tried, they refused

  • Just got a email from Google one
    649$ pixel 7 free del
    Is that good

  • +1

Google Pixel 7 Pro 5G 128GB is back for $899 on JB's website.
Just used the $300 trade-in coupon and trade-in phone gift card to get it for $599 - trade-in value.

    • $887 at officeworks for anyone who wants to bother pricematching to save $12

      • +3

And if you bargain hard and/or get a nice sales person, you can get it even cheaper ;)

  • +3

    Thank you Op.
I traded in my 10-months old Pixel 7 and I managed to upgarde it to Pixel 7 Pro for just $169 (negotiated price $869 less $370 trade-in, less $300 bonus, less 15% paying the balance $199 with the Ultimate gift card).

    • Is pixel 7 better than pixel 7 Pro. Many reviews suggest that 7 is better - on size, and battery.

      • +1

Pixel 7 Pro is much better than Pixel 7. Camera, screen, battery, etc.

    • Cheers mate!

  • +1

Does anyone know if I can trade in an apple watch and will receive the $300 voucher. I just spoke to someone instore and they suggested that only a trade in phone will work.

    • Just check yourself……the link is there, "Go To Deal"!

      • I meant the $300 bonus towards the Google pixel phones!

        • Did you find answer to it?

        • +1

If you trade "anything" (on their avail list) you get the $300 bonus.

          • @Borg: Hey one more question could you pls answer

"After entering trade-in details, how does actually this exchange of old product happens? Do we need to post ourselves?
Can the delivery address of new product and pickup address of old product be different."

            • +1

@Arsh31791: Mmmm, best check the FAQ ;-)

In short. The Trade in is between you and Squaretradeup (you send it to them)
The purchase is via JB and you can pick up or have it delivered wherever.

            • @Arsh31791: They will send you AU Post sticker, so you pack your trade-in item and post it to the provided address.

              • @bob19: Thanks for clarifying, They provide that AU post sticker with our new Pixel order on our address? Or does it come separately
