Trade-in an Eligible Mobile and Receive a Bonus $300 Discount Coupon for a Google Pixel Series @ JB Hi-Fi

3520

Assuming you have some device to trade in, JB Hifi via the SquaretradeUP platform is offering a bonus $300 coupon for the Pixel series. Not sure if it's meant for Pixel 8, but the code works for a Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 series. Campaign Period: 12 Sept 23 - 27 Sept 23

For example - if you trade in a phone worth $160, you'll get:

  • $160 JB Gift Card that you can spend on anything as your trade-in credit
  • $300 Discount Code on a "Pixel Series" phone

Assuming you were spending it on a Pixel 7 device, you'd pay $699 (JB's listed price) - $300 (bonus coupon) - $160 (JB GC) = $239

Given JB is matching the Google Store deals, the prices below are what you'd pay post $300 discount

* Google Pixel 7 Pro 5G 128GB for $899 - $300 = $599 price now back up to $999
* Google Pixel 7a 5G 128GB for $749 - $300 = $449 - ask JB to price match Google Store and pay $349
* Google Pixel 7 5G 128GB for $699 - $300 = $399 price now back up to $899

Copypaste from the bonus trade in coupon section:

Trade-in orders cancelled during Coupon Promo, will be charged the full Trade-in value of the JB Credit eGift Card on their nominated Credit Card, regardless if the JB Credit eGift Card has not been used.

There is a limit of 1 coupon per Trade-in order.

Simply follow these 4 Steps:

  1. Get a trade-in valuation of $1.00 or more via the JB Hi-Fi Trade-in website.
  2. If you accept the valuation, and then complete the Trade-in process, you will immediately receive your JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit eGift card via email.
  3. In addition you are able to select the bonus coupon offer and we will send an immediate email containing your unique one-time bonus coupon code.
  4. Apply both your Trade-in Credit eGift card and bonus coupon towards the purchase of the eligible device.

  • Just tried to see what my dyson was worth. It doesnt ask for any serial numbers or whatever.
Didnt complete it but eems like if you didnt have a phone that you actually wanted to trade in, you could go this option?

    • Traded-in an XBox One X and wasn't asked for a serial number. Only got $90 for it though could easily sell for $200+ on eBay.

  • This is a great deal.
I've got a damaged Pixel 5 the kids use. They are offering $5 trade in, so with the trade in bonus I can get a Pixel 7 for $394. Christmas present for my son sorted!

    Google Pixel 7 5G 128GB for $699 - $300 - $5 = $394

  • I can trade in my Galaxy S23 for $600 and get the Pixel 7 Pro for free basically …. that's more than I paid for it in the last Jb Hi-Fi trade in deal… lol

  • The values are pretty silly for some. Pixel 5 in top condition is worth $40. A PS4 slim without any scratches and a controller is worth $50.

    I dun think so.

    • I recently sold my pixel 5 in perfect condition on FB marketplace for $350. Feel like this deal only works with some phones

  • -2

Does anyone know what JB-Hi Fi's return policy is with the trade in. If I don't like the Pixel and want to return it, and have already traded my old phone in, do they refund the original price before the trade in bonus (for example $899 for the P7Pro instead of $599)? Is it refund of your credit card or just store credit?

    • How do you return an unboxed phone?

I didn't they allowed change of mind for opened phones.

    • -2

I can see where he is going. No need to open phone. Get discounts, buy phone and return. If full refund, the $300 is cash. For old phones with $1 value, it's a pretty good tactic

    • They will refund to your original payment method.

So no, you won't be able to get the $300 back in cash.

  • I'm trying to go through the process now, where does the bonus trade-in amount come in? Is it only after going all the way through the process and receive an email about your trade in?

    • Yes Both the $300 code and the trade-in gift card are emailed straight afterwards.

  • Do I finally upgrade my Pixel 5 to a Pixel 7 Pro? The 5 has never done me wrong, although the battery life after a couple of years is definitely not great

    • +2

I made this exact upgrade less than a month ago. I actually miss a lot about my pixel 5.

      Pixel 5 pros:
      Smaller and more compact
      Fingerprint reader is super fast
      Very good battery life
      Phone is very light

      Pixel 7 pros:
      Noticeably faster processor
      Much better camera
      Face unlock is nice
      Longer software updates

Just know that the under glass fingerprint reader on the pixel 7 is garbage if you use a glass screen protector. There are several google approved ones that work a bit better but are more expensive but I've yet to replace my crappy one.

  • +2

Why is the Pixel 7a more expensive? Isn't it meant to be cheaper than the Pixel 7?

I'm considering - strangely - trading in my Pixel 7 for a Pixel 7. I'd end up $50 out of pocket, but I could use a $10 Perks credit, so I'd be spending $40 to get a new version of my own phone…is this crazy

    • Brand new battery and new warranty so not really crazy.

    • Because right now JB is doing a promotional sale for Pixel 7 (with $300 off)?

  • P7P 256gb gone…. :(

    • So what then with the $300 bonus credit?

  • Can u then return the pixel for credit to buy an iPhone?

  • +1

Just traded in my Pixel 6 ($200 credit) and got the Pixel 7 for $199. Seems like a no brainer as it's about 2 years old already and the battery is not great anymore.

    • +1

How time flashes! I still remember when the Pixel 6a was out, and it's all over on YouTube praising how unexpectedly the camera is on the 6a. It was just like few days ago. And now we are talking about Pixel 8 series. Slow down, time!

  • They don't accept my Oppo A52 :( my wife's S21U $330 and $269 to upgrade to the 7pro, tempting

  • +3

Pixel 4a is not in the trade-in list, hmmok

    • Right?! And there's much older phones there

  • +3

Anyone wonder what happens to all these old phones?

Do these companies send them to 3rd world countries like India and Africa and sell them for double what they pay us lol?

    • They get sorted by condition, and then it depends. Ones in perfect condition get sold as 'refurbished'. Ones that are workable are often donated to charity (e.g. domestic violence charity). Ones that are crap get recycled for lithium, etc.

  • Pixel 5 in great condition for $50. Not sure if its worth giving up the unlimited high quality storage for P7.

    • Perhaps you already have Amazon Prime membership? It includes unlimited photo storage at full quality.

      • Dont think Amazon Australia has that.

        • Yeah it's a paid service like Google One here in Australia

        • It does, for photos.

Videos have a limit of 5GB with options to pay for higher storage.

          • @sridhar: I have amazon prime AU and I do not see the unlimited photo storage mentioned anywhere. Looks like it is only 5gb for Australia?

            5 GB complimentary storage
All Amazon customers get 5 GB of storage for photos and videos

            https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…

No mention of unlimited photos for prime at all on AU site. Think it is only applicable for US/CA.

            • @CodeXD: Here's a screenshot from my email: https://d.pr/i/XZIDqM

It works fine for me. I uploaded 13k photos already.

              • @sridhar: Is your membership on amazon.com.au or amazon.com?

                https://www.amazon.com.au/Amazon-com-Amazon-Photos/product-r…

There is a review indicating it is not available to Amazon AU prime members.

Looking to replace Google Photos and was tempted by "Unlimited Storage" for Prime Members - MISLEADING - Not available for Australian Prime Members. Very disappointing!!

                • +1

@CodeXD: My Prime membership is at .com.au.

My Photos sub (I took the 1 TB plan for videos) is at .com. I subscribed after I hit the video storage limit. It was/is still unlimited and free for photos. But looks like you have to log into .com and then avail it.

                  I used the same login.

                  • @sridhar: Did you recently active Prime trial for Amazon Canada? It includes unlimited photo storage and it may be basing it off that.

    • The unlimited storage has been cancelled?

      • Not for P5 and under. You get unlimited high quality storage but not original quality.

My pixel 1 is still going and saving my photos.

    • Pixel 5 with some screen damage $5 heh

    • I saw a small hack where a user kept his Pixel 5 and move all his photos from his Pixel 7 to his Pixel 5 automatically using a script, then he was able to trick the system and benefit from the Unlimited storage ^^.

      For $50 I'll keep it,

or sell it and buy 2+ years worth of Google One storage with the money

  • I have a S8 with cracked glass front, will that be accepted?

    • Just did this - did not ask any question about condition. $1 + $300 received.

  • When I follow the link, the only bonus coupons that are showing are for Samsung Galaxy Z phones. Is there a link showing the Google phone bonus?

    • I want to know this too. Not seeing where it says Pixel 7 and assume am missing the obvious somewhere?.

        • Ha.I was about to reply that I found it and you posted at the same time. On the Pixel page, there is the "DON'T MISS OUT ON THESE!" link. One of the two relates to the Trade in for the Pixel. I was missing the obvious. Thanks for that.

        • Yes, this FAQ entry is what has be convinced, no chance for Pixel 8

  • so Jbhifi are telling me that they dont accept pixel 4a 5g which was only released few years back? These companies never fail to surprise me!

    • Unfortunately, Pixel 4a no longer update by Google - last guaranteed update August 2023. It is considered as obsolete by Google and will have limited re-sell value. :(

      https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/4457705?hl=en#zippy=…

      • They didn't say 4a, they said 4a 5G, which is still supported/updated, not quite obsolete yet

        • Until November 2023!

          Pixel 4a (5G)

          November 2023

          • @bobokingdom: And the pixel 5 is on there and it finishes up a month earlier in October.

I don't think the time when support runs out has anything to do with whether the phone is on there

  • +1

I am heading out to Bali on the 08 Oct so the $399 I paid for the Pixel 7 Pro, (trading in my almost 2 year old P6), will come down again as I will be able to claim TRS refund.

I won't be bringing it back with me anyway so the gift just got cheaper again.

    Winner.

    • +1

Is that phone for use in Indo long term? If so, you need to register it through their custom office. I have not done this myself but looking at this website, it seems best to do it in the first 5 days so you don't get slapped with tax.

      • I will make sure I get onto that.

        Cheers

  • Does this bonus $300 voucher only apply if I trade in an eligible Phone? How about the other categories?

  • +1

Ok never mind, finally found what I'm looking for.

The second last FAQ entry at the bottom, makes it a bit more clear that the $300 bonus credit, not only seems to expire at the same day the promotion ends, but also seems very specific to which devices it'll work on.

It seems very unlikely anyone will get a discounted pixel 8 out of this and I have zero interest in the 7

    Oh well :(

I'll keep my S23 256gb from the Samsung trade in deal, Pixel line is not for me.

    Also worth checking https://youtu.be/m8KNY3MaXvg?si=9xVSTqroaDTnZ2WO

    • +1

Why link to this if you own a S23 256GB which is latest Samsung device worth +/- $1199. Would anyone seriously consider trading it in for a Pixel 7 not to mention the trade in value only being $650?
The second video you posted. Quick FF to the The Verdict for quick final overview.

      • I wasn't thinking about trading in S23 for Pixel 7, I was only thinking I might return S23 to Samsung and getting this Pixel 7 deal for a bit lower overall cost. By comparison videos I can see S23 is absolutely a superior phone.

    • Galaxy S23 should be compared to Pixel 7 Pro as thats the equivalent price between the ranges, not Pixel 7 standard.

      • But Pixel 7 Pro is still kinda meh if speaking about the overall performance, Google simply needs a newer chip.

  • Is Pixel Pro 7 a good upgrade from 6a?

    • Yes

      • Thanks! I upgraded from Pixel 4 to Pixel 6a using the same deal last year. So tempting to make another upgrade now.

  • about time for me to upgrade from s9 plus to pixel 7 or 7 pro 128 GB, I would be missing memory card storage and again a curved screen if I like 7 pro in-store :)

  • Anyone completed the trade in and not receive email with credit? I only got link return vouchers $300….

    • I have the same problem - email received includes a link to the Pixel $300 offer, however when I select it it takes me to the trade in page stating the barcode has expired?
Did you get your problem sorted?

  • Just took this up, new Pixel 7 should be here via uber within the hour, got $50 trade-in on my S10+, might've stretched the definition of "no cosmetic damage" but worst case scenario I still got a Pixel 7 for $400.

    • Minus the uber cost

      • lol true

    • I thought about doing the same but an S10+ is worth $200+ if sold online reasonable condition? Can't justify trading it in. Perhaps email them to cancel the Trade In and they will charge you the $50. That way you still get the $300 voucher (don't you)?

      • yeah they can't take away the $300 coupon code, but can only charge you the trade-in value. I'm thinking of just selling my wife's old phone on ebay instead as it may sell for over $360 they're offering.

      • Mine's not really in reasonable condition, the rear glass is cracked pretty badly. I expect they'll reject it, then I'll get the glass replaced next month when I'm in Malaysia where it'll be cheap, then sell it or keep it as a spare…you can never have too many HomeAssistant wall panels =)

  • Does this apply to pixel tablet?

    • No, if you go to the pixel 7 product page, scroll down to DON'T MISS OUT ON THESE! and there is a banner for the $300 trade in bonus.

      Nothing on pixel tablet page.

  • +1

Perfect. I still have the iphone XR from the Coles deal posted here a while back, got for $180 with my team member discount (they also refunded me for both phones after they only delivered one so we are cooking here) trade in value is 180 on jbhfi and have already recieved my coupon and pixel discount.

    Ozbargain the goat

  • Just bought a 6a for 490 a few months ago, right before the price dropped, but it's showing 150 valuation on the site. Not the best, but means I could upgrade to the 7 for 100 lmao.

  • Never done this before, but does anyone know if I can buy the new device, transfer all my data from my old one and then send it in in time?

    • +1

yeah you could do that in less than a day, they need to get the phone back within 14 days

    • You can receive your new Pixel phone before ever having to send off the old phone. In fact I waited like 3 weeks to send off my phone which was longer than the amount of time they said I was supposed to send it in by.

You initiate the trade, they give you the voucher(s) and then you simply buy the phone and then send in the old phone a couple days/weeks later.

  • +1

got the pixel 7 pro for $239 for the wife after trading her s21u 256gb for $360. I wonder if I can just sell it on ebay instead and just let jb charge me $360? lol

  • Thanks OP, upgrading missus phone now to the Pixel 7 Pro at a 66% discount…

    • These $1 trade-in value + $300 bonus deals really disclosure how much these Android phones overpriced at the beginning.

  • +1

Just got mine via Uber, phone is dirty, and screen is completely detached from handset, new in the box! Not a great first impression.

  • What happens if you go into negative?

    $699 - $300 - $450 (value of trade in) = -$51.00

    • +3

then you just have $51 remaining in your trade-in gift card

  • +1

got the 256GB 7 for $459 (with wws ultimate 20x EDR points) in Sydney westfield and it went pretty smooth.
