Trade-in an Eligible Mobile and Receive a Bonus $300 Discount Coupon for a Google Pixel Series @ JB Hi-Fi

3520

Assuming you have some device to trade in, JB Hifi via the SquaretradeUP platform is offering a bonus $300 coupon for the Pixel series. Not sure if it's meant for Pixel 8, but the code works for a Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 series. Campaign Period: 12 Sept 23 - 27 Sept 23

For example - if you trade in a phone worth $160, you'll get:

  • $160 JB Gift Card that you can spend on anything as your trade-in credit
  • $300 Discount Code on a "Pixel Series" phone

Assuming you were spending it on a Pixel 7 device, you'd pay $699 (JB's listed price) - $300 (bonus coupon) - $160 (JB GC) = $239

Given JB is matching the Google Store deals, the prices below are what you'd pay post $300 discount

* Google Pixel 7 Pro 5G 128GB for $899 - $300 = $599 price now back up to $999
* Google Pixel 7a 5G 128GB for $749 - $300 = $449 - ask JB to price match Google Store and pay $349
* Google Pixel 7 5G 128GB for $699 - $300 = $399 price now back up to $899

Copypaste from the bonus trade in coupon section:

Trade-in orders cancelled during Coupon Promo, will be charged the full Trade-in value of the JB Credit eGift Card on their nominated Credit Card, regardless if the JB Credit eGift Card has not been used.

There is a limit of 1 coupon per Trade-in order.

Simply follow these 4 Steps:

  1. Get a trade-in valuation of $1.00 or more via the JB Hi-Fi Trade-in website.
  2. If you accept the valuation, and then complete the Trade-in process, you will immediately receive your JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit eGift card via email.
  3. In addition you are able to select the bonus coupon offer and we will send an immediate email containing your unique one-time bonus coupon code.
  4. Apply both your Trade-in Credit eGift card and bonus coupon towards the purchase of the eligible device.

I just did it for $5. Asked the rep for the best deal and lowered it down to $675. Got $370 for the trade-in of Pixel 7 that I bought from FB marketplace for $350. After all this, I now have a new phone with a warranty :).

      New Pixel 7 Snow: $699 - $24(asked rep for best price) - $370(Pixel 7 trade-in) - $300(JB HiFi Voucher) = $5

      • Which rep? Online?

    • Or you can add another $200 and get Pixel 7 Pro

  • +9

You're not getting my S8, the greatest phone ever made.

    • +2

My S9 died years ago but my S7 Edge from 2016 still lasts more than a day on a single charge…the old Sammys were pretty good

  • got my a33 for 399 last year and they're offering 80 for it plus the 300 which means i only lost 20 bucks on it, is it worth jumping on this deal? i feel like that would be worth it

    • +1

I guess it depends if you want what they are offering now.

$380 off the phones listed at the top of the page is great, as they're cheap but if they do let you do the Pixel 8 somehow, but the rrp is pretty high…. well the savings kinda vanish there..

380 off very high rrp isn't so helpful, who knows

    • -1

You are losing $20 bucks on ur existing phone with all coupons considered and buying the phone at full price by trading that existing device, I don't see any deal in it there for you 🤔

  • +3

There is a limit of 1 coupon per Trade-in order.

So can I make two separate trade ins and get 2 x $300 coupons plus trade in value of each device? Can they then be used together on the same purchase?

    • Following :)

      • +1

I believe you can do 2 trades and double up on coupons. I don't think you can use on same purchase later/stack.

    • Would also like confirmation on this.
I've got a couple of devices sitting around

    • +1

Hi Tried, to do a second order under my name for my wife so I could collect both phones at the one time but after putting in a different email when I entered my ID and click next after verification is said an order is processing, maybe it may work after an hour or so or after they've processed the order, this is what happened to me anyway, cheers.

      • Please update. Possibly looking at doing 2 orders. But might have to use the Mrs details on the other.

  • That moment when JB tells you your current phone has no value and should just be recycled…

    • +11

Apple does it worse. "We'll recycle your phone for free." Fk outta here

  • Hmm, interesting if i out in a galaxy S9 it does not ask for condition, just says $1. But if I put in a galaxy note 9 it asks for condition and they won't take it as it has cracked glass which is understandable I guess. But does that mean they accept a S9 even if it had say cracked glass?

    • Idk but they do the same for the S7 which I have one which has cracked glass and doesn't boot… I'm going to screenshot the whole process in case they try to screw me. I don't care about the $1 but if they tried to reclaim the $300 coupon is what I am worried about.

  • It's seems great way to change my s20 which has some signal issue. But Google still block the usb hdmi… Deal breaker :/

Not sure if it's meant for Pixel 8, but the code works for a Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 series. Campaign Period: 12 Sept 23 - 27 Sept 23

Pixel 8 release date is Oct 4th, if this campaign ends on Sep 27th then I guess they are intentionally excluding P8; probably a ploy to clear out P7 stock before the P8 hits the shelves. But this would be amazing if I can use it towards a P8

BTW I can’t see this $300 bonus offer on the squaretradeup or jbtradein pages, where is it ? I only see a $500 and $300 off bonus offer for Galaxy Z phones.

    • +2

Yeah it's unclear if the "egift" code expires or not. Feels likely that it is to clear out old stock

    • +1

You can only see it once you received the email about redeeming a coupon

    • Thanks.
I have a P6 Pro, trade in value is $275, with the bonus $575, which is actually better than what I can get for it on eBay (after shipping and seller fees). I would have traded in my phone if the P7 Pro had a better ($300 off) discount like the P7 or I could use it towards a P8, but since that seems unlikely I’d probably give this a pass.

      • Doesn't the discount apply to the p7 Pro?

        • The $300 trade in bonus does, but the existing base discount on the 7 pro is $100, while the 7 is already $300 off retail.

    • BTW I can’t see this $300 bonus offer on the squaretradeup or jbtradein pages, where is it ?

My question also. Keen to jump on this, but not before I'm sure I'm getting the extra $300.

      • +1

It's actually in the pixel 7 product pages

      • It's also in the terms and condition

    • Maybe not updated yet but it's mentioned in the pixel 7 product pages

  • Worth trading the Pixel 6 for $200?

    • Depends on if you want to upgrade to a P7. A used Pixel 6 is selling for under $450 on eBay or around $400 after seller fees. But with this offer you can get $200 + $300 = $500

      • +1

A really doubt you would get $450 (sell price) for a 2 year old pixel 6…. maybe $350? Regardless, you're right, $500 (so $199 for p7) is a great deal if you were looking to upgrade.

        • +3

I sold mine a few weeks ago on eBay and got around $320 after all the fees.

  • +1

Worth trading in a pixel 6a for $150+300 to get a pixel 7 for $250?

    • Given you can buy a pixel 6a for ,349.

      Yeah.

  • +2

    This is the way.

  • My trade in value for pixel 6a is $150. Bought for $600 in August 2022. After their $300 gift card . It means i get $450. Losing $150 after one year of use . Thats a pretty dam good deal for me to upgrade to new pixel 8

    • +2

There's no certainty you can get pixel 8 in this deal

  • Does the trade in have to be a phone can it be anything else i noticed from reading the bonus trade in section it doesn't mention phone? I don't have anything phone to trade in only a ps4 pro would that work for the bonus $300? Thank you.

    • +1

Anything works as long as you can get $1 trade-in value

  • +1

FYI under FAQs for difference between eGift card and bonus coupon.

"The Trade-in eGift Card can be used at the time of purchase for any product in-store or online.
The coupon code can only be applied to specific items nominated by JB Hi-Fi.
Both have to be redeemed at the time of purchase and cannot be used after the sale.
The Trade-in eGift Cards have no time limit Vs Promo Coupons are for a limited time only."

    • "The Trade-in eGift Cards have no time limit Vs Promo Coupons are for a limited time only."

So the monetary value from trade in, is kinda like real cash, but the bonus $300 may expire.

We need someone to tell us the date their $300 is valid to.

    • Out of curious.

Can I use the bonus coupon instore?_?

  • +2

Uggh! A dollar for galaxy S8+

  • +1

    Has anyone trade-in yet?
I checked their webpage and shows bonus is only for samsung?

    • Done. I traded in an old PS4 Pro for a $48 eGift card + a $300 credit for Pixels series products. Already paid for a Pixel 7.
It may sound a bit silly though, but when I chose the option "Power cord is missing" they evaluated it as $0; and when I chose "Controller is missing" it was evaluated as $48. I just don't understand how the PS4 Pro is deemed total garbage when the power cord is missing. Seems a little funny to me since it's just a quite common power cord the PS4 uses.

Anyway, I got the PS4 Pro for roughly $100 a few months ago, so this is really an awesome deal!

      • When you get to the final trade in number, it says nothing about the bonus credit… do you just plough ahead and they send it to you? Nothing is on the website about this deal?

      • +1

Same can be said from your end, if the power cord is so common, why don't you have one? Might be worth seeing how much PS4 is worth with power cord and compare it to how much a power cord is.

      • Do you know if your $300 promo bonus has an expiry and if so, what the expiry is?

  • Too bad I couldn't find my old device from their list :(
I was looking for the option for the Huawei P30 Pro.

    • +1

      Same… Stupid world hating Huawei

    • Apart from the no more updates on the P30 pro. I wouldn't jump on the pixels. More a sideways upgrade than a solid upgrade.

      • Yeah I would probably agree with you if my P30 Pro was still in use. In fact, my old device has been sitting in the drawer for a while I was going to get my daughter a new phone. Anyway, I ended up trading in an old PS4 Pro for $48, for the sake of that $300 credit :)

  • This is tempting, i can trade in my Samsung 4 watch for 80$ and after 300 disc, get the p7 for 319$ only.
This way i get to keep my pixel 5 as well!!

  • Do you have to send the trade-in phone to them? or can we keep it and sell it at a higher price?

    • They will charge you for whatever amount they decide for your device. However, I am not sure what will happen to the $300 store credit though, perhaps someone with better knowledge can shed a light?

      • I think you get to keep the credit but they'll charge for the phone trade in value.

        • But this doesn't sound quite right….Let's suppose they decided to pay me $1 for an old phone, after confirming I received the $1 eGift card + $300 credit towards Pixels products. If I don't want to send them the old phone, they will charge me $1 and let me keep the store credit? That means, basically it did not cost me anything apart from a few minutes for the registration and just get the $300 voucher for free? That doesn't sound quite right….I don't know, I am not saying you are wrong, just couldn't figure it out LOL

      • "They will charge you for whatever amount they decide for your device"

        What does this mean?

If I send them a phone in really good condition that they say they'll do for 250, can they then say "nah it's not that good"and not give me as much?

        • The question here was whether we have to send over the device. So it's not relevant to what you just said, mate.

          • @DBW: Sorry I think I get you now.

If you trade in phone for 71 dollars, use that credit and the 300, they'll charge back the 71 if the phone doesn't turn up?

            • +1

@hamwhisperer: If I am not mistaken, this is why they ask for my credit card for pre-authorisation for the amount they quoted for the device. I haven't tested it, and may not test it. If someone knows what's exactly going to happen, please feel free to comment :)

              • @DBW: Makes sense to me.

I have no plan to deceive them anyhow, the $300 almost def doesn't look usable on Pixel 8 and the 7 runs too hot and is curved, so I'll avoid it.

  • Was waiting to see if I would receive the $500 promo code for the S23 to trade in my S22 256GB but it's looking grim. They were offering $440 for it which would've made the S23 sub $100.

This may be the way I go down given JB is offering $400 trade in for it - brings it down to $200.

  • +1

Lets hope this sticks around in 4wks time for the pixel 8

    • +1

I doubt it. clearing out 7 stock.

      • +1

They did a $300 bonus offer last year for the Pixel 7 release.

Also Google did a $250/$300 cashback offer on the Pixel 7 Pro, so I am pretty confident we will see similar offers for the P8

    • What's to stop the trade in, but not buying new phone yet?

      • Well I need the phone I have still, until I can upgrade to the pixel 8

        • Ahhh, I think you're out of luck for sure, based on dates in the op.

But I do have a spare phone that matches, I could trade in, get my gift card for jb and my 300 bonus, I just wanna know if it expires and if it works on pixel 8

  • +1

Tempting to nick the kids Samsung Tab A to get a P7P.

  • +1

Seems only recent (within ~3 years) devices are eligible. My pixel 4, from late 2019, is not on the list.

  • +2

Bit confused how you get the bonus $300. Went through the trade in for my S21 and was offered $280 but how do I get the extra $300?

  • +3

So basically if I trade my current almost 1 year old pixel 7….I can get 350 trade in plus another 300.. therefore $50 for a brand new pixel 7 in a different colour?

    • +1

I'm on the exact same boat. I think I'm gonna do it

  • Does the trade in need to be in working order? Could I find a cheap broken pixel 5 for instance and trade that in to get an extra $300 off the pixel 7 pro?

Edit: I checked to see and they ask the condition of the phone during the trade in process with damaged phones worth less (or $0). Doesn't look like it would be worth it.

  • Just in time: Samsung stopping software support..https://www.rmupdate.com/2023/09/06/no-more-software-support-for-these-six-samsung-galaxy-smartphones/

I am wondering, is it better to pop in the store and do the transactions from there?

    • +2

Second that. Is it possible to walk in with your old device and get it all sorted there?

    • Same, would like to know too!

  • Do you need to give away your trade in phone prior to getting the gift cards? Please suggest if anyone knows.

I would need new phone prior to giving away old phone, as I need to transfer my content.

    • Both the $300 code and the trade-in gift card are emailed straight afterwards.

You have 7 days to return whatever you trade-in. They email you the postage label and info as well.

      • +1

        Great, thanks. That really helps.

      • Does either of those expire?

        • Can't see any info on expiry but I would reckon the $300 bonus expires once the promo finishes (Sep 27th) but the trade-in GC shouldn't expire.

"Your trade-in credit doesn’t expire. Once you receive your trade-in credit eGift Card, you have 7 business days to send us your old device. If after 20 days, we haven’t received your old device back, we will charge your credit card for the value of the trade-in credit provided."

          • @dins: Yeah I read the FAQ and came to the same conclusion. The bonus expires at the end of the promo, so it can't be used on a pixel 8

            • @hamwhisperer: I bought the pixel 7 and will use that to trade in for pixel 8. There definitely will be bonus trade in available for it at release if not a few months later.

      • +1

Is dropping my phone off to a local JB an option rather than mailing it?

        • either is fine

      • What happens if I decide to keep my device? Would I be only charged with the trade in credits? Or there is other admin fee?

I could sell my device to get more money back to pay for the trade in credit.

  • Pixel 7 vs S23, which phone is better?

  • Cheers OP! 🍻
