Spotify Premium: 18 Months Individual, 243 days Duo or 206 Days (~7 Months) Family ~A$47.81 @ Spotify Egypt (VPN Required)

3110

This deal is similar to my post last year, but results in a cheaper outcome: circa A$2.66 per month for Individual or A$1.18/month per person if you have a full Family group of six people.

What you will need before starting

  1. VPN with Egypt Server: ExpressVPN, CyberGhost or Surfshark (or another if I am not aware). CyberGhost has a 7-day free trial.
  2. New or lapsed existing Spotify account (can be Australian)

Step 1: Cancel your existing premium subscription to Spotify and wait for the current billing period to end, or create a free account if you don't have one

Edit for step 2 below: users have reported that they have only been able to redeem one gift card (some have said the 12 month has worked but not the 6 month, or vice versa. Note: I have removed specific links from this step because users have reported issues redeeming these gift cards.

Solutions found by other users:
1. Users have reported that the below method works for Spotify India instead
2. If you have already purchased a code which is not working, contact live chat
3. Purchase 3 x 6 month codes instead

Step 2: Purchase 1 x 12 Month Egypt Spotify Premium Gift Card] and 1 x from G2A (alternatively, 3 x 6 months) or another site with Egyptian Spotify gift card. Note: Price quoted in title is based on current total price of the two gift cards linked here, however the price may vary depending on where you purchase it.

Step 3: Turn on your VPN and set location to Egypt. Note: Many VPN providers do not have an Egyptian server.

Step 4: While VPN is activated, go to your 'account' here and click 'Edit Profile', an option to set your country to 'Egypt' should appear (this option is greyed out if you have still have an active premium subscription). If it does not appear, check your VPN is activated correctly. Save your changes. This will now let you redeem Egyptian gift cards.

Step 5: Click Redeem and paste your gift card codes that you previously purchased in Step 2. You will see that the confirmation message will mention '12 Months Premium' and '6 Months Premium' being redeemed. Once you have redeemed both codes, here you will see EGP 499 and EGP 300 respectively in your order history. If you attempt to redeem more than 18 months, you will get an error stating that you cannot redeem more than 18 months of premium in advance.

Note: Stop here if you wish to keep your account as an Individual account. If you wish to convert your 18 Months Premium to 243 days of Duo or 206 days of Family, continue to Step 6. If you stop here your account will remain an "Egyptian" account. Please note, if you do not continue to step 9, this will mean video podcasts will not work on your account.

Step 6: Go to "Account Overview" and click on "Your Plan". Now click "Subscribe" at the bottom. You will now see "Your Plan" with EGP49.99 / month and the next billing date will be 18 months from now. Beneath the summary, you'll see a payment gateway show up with some Egyptian payment options. Look beneath them and you will see "Change country" in the footer. Click on it and select Australia. You will now see $12.99 per month and the next billing date has been reduced to ~12 months from now. This is due to some sort of conversion rate between countries. Do not proceed yet.

Step 7: At the top, click "Change Plan". On the next page, click on Premium Duo or Premium Family. Confirm that the new billing date is approximately 243 days from now (for duo) or 7 months (206 days) for Family.

Step 8: Choose PayPal as the payment method and follow the prompts to finalise. Your PayPal won't be charged until the date stated in the summary.

Step 9: After confirming, your account will be Australian, so choose your normal Australian address for the Premium Duo/Family as you normally would, and tell your "family" members to enter the same address.

      Yep repeat the process

      • Excellent, thanks!

I read in another post you need an active vpn to use egy gift cards

  • +1

thanks! i've now got the 7 months of family plan. once all of this is done, is there any way to pay for more egyptian gift cards and extend the 7 months. twice now I've had the premium family stopped and it kicks everyone off it so they have to be readded and it's annoying for everyone involved

    • Unfortunately you’ll have to re-add everyone. Doing this process ends up in your account staying Australian, so you can only redeem Australian gift cards unless you lapse the account and repeat the whole process

      • Is there an Egyptian (or Indian) payment option like we had with Türkiye in Oldubil?

Seems thats all thats holding back converting to a family plan withing moving back to Australia first.

  • +2

Worked perfectly! Thank you OP, really appreciate the effort you put into this.

  • +1

Here here! Thanks OP, worked perfectly for me also. Used ExpressVPN. Only gotcha is some of the family members forgot the email address associated with their Spotify account and had a heck of a time trying to figure out which one it was and re-join the fam account.

  • Just doing the maths comparing 2x individual 18m subs at $47
Compared to getting 1x 18month individual sub at $47 then converting it to a duo to get 243 days.

Am i wrong here or is it actually cheaper per person to get 2x 18m subs each

    243 days = ~8m (each) so 16months of sub
    $47/16m = 2.93$ per month each

    or
    $47 *2 = $94 / 36m = $2.61 per month each?

Did i get the math wrong ?

    • I think you’re right, to be honest I think the value here is in the family sub or individual, but someone tried out the Duo so I added it to the headline

  • +1

Much easier to make it work compared to turkey. Thanks for sharing!

  • Does anyone know if my fam overseas can be a part of this fam plan?

    • +1

They just need to use Australia vpn when they join and enter your address

  • +2

Eneba is much cheaper than G2A and more reliable since you can use discounted Prezzee gift cards to swap for Eneba gift cards which avoids all fees and potential payment problems. Note this requires setting up mobile 2FA on Eneba.
    12 months
    6 months
Also can stack 3.5% cashback from Cashrewards, final price ended up being $34.27. Thanks OP!

    • FYI for those reading this thread - it is no longer much cheaper. I paid $66 today not realising the change.

  • theres currently a 3 month free premium offer.. if you set up a new account and accept that can you still redeem 18months gift cards on top?

    • Is the 3 months Australia or Egypt? If Australia… no - because then you won’t be able to redeem Egyptian gift cards

      • 3 months egypt.. then accept the codes on top.

        • Yes but you can’t stack more than 18 months - so just get 15 months codes

          • +1

@siberry: thanks thats what i was checking. so the 3 months count. i wasnt sure if it was 18 months total or just cant apply 18 months of cards. ill probably just get 12 months and then when the 3 months have passed ill put on the 6 months then.

    • To accept the 3 month free premium offer, you need a valid payment method that matches the country (ie. Egyptian CC)
I tried, and it wouldn't take a prepaid MC, nor would it take my Wise card.

      • thats good to know. i guess accept the free 3 months then cancel the subscription and wait for that to expire then follow the above instructions to convert to eqyptian account afterwards..

        • Hey Bobby, I'm not sure you read my comment correctly.
I'm not sure how you were able to accept the 3mth free premium offer. Because when I tried to accept the 3 mths free, it needs an egyptian payment method (my cards are Aus issued and Spotify gives an error about card issue country not matching).

Please enlighten the community how you managed to get around this.

Because my kids were impatient, I ended up buying Spotify GC from Amazon India (1x12 and 1x6) and then applying to my Spotify India a/c, then had to change country to Aus in order to convert to Premium Family. If you buy from Amazon India, it ended up being ~10 cheaper than via the g2a website.

          • @Zippy7: i havent yet. the plan would be to accept the current free 3 months offer with a payment card attached in native currency..eg Australian…. then when those 3 months expire to follow the instructions on this thread and turn it into an Egyptian account later…

  • Great deal and set up the 18m individual successfully. Has anyone else had a problem where podcast video suddenly doesn't work anymore? Any solutions?

Googling looks like egypt spotify didnt support video until recently but should now?

  • This is marked as expired - was this just an automatic thing or has it stopped working?

    • I’m not sure - I didn’t mark it as expired and haven’t heard any feedback of people not being able to do it…

    • Our system automatically marks deals older than 45 days as expired. On the deal submission form it states:

If the expiry date is not specified, our system will automatically expire the deal after 45 days (90 days for freebies). Please report this deal if it is a long-running deal that shouldn't be expired

This deal has now been marked as long expiry.

  • Not sure why this was marked as expired - I was able to get Premium family just last week.

    • Yeah I don’t know either. I didn’t do it and I can’t see who did

    • +1

It is now marked as long running

    @siberry, you’ve gone famous mate!

    • This is such a privilege 🤣

  • +1

Anyone else having issues redeeming the codes? I got the 6 month one to activate, but it's not accepting the 12 month one with error 'something went wrong. Please try again or go to our support.' Using CyberGhost VPN, changed region to Egypt, using gift cards from G2A.

    • Did you change the country in your profile to Egypt before doing this?

      • Yes followed all steps (thanks for great instructions btw), but just one code worked and not the other.

        • I received the same error and unable use my 12 month code. Did you manage to get to work in the end mate?

          • @Tech45: No, not yet. But I received this message when I contacted G2A asking about whether there's an issue with the code: 'Dear buyer,
            thank you for your message.
If you haven't used a VPN, try it or change it to another one and then try again. This is not a mistake on our part.'

            • @Ihansama: Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll have to lodge a PayPal claim and wait.

    • you may want to try the codes again with Egypt VPN and profile changed to Egypt. After a month, the 6 month codes are now magically working

      • Thanks heaps, it worked now.

  • +3

Same issue here, 6 month code works, 12 months doesn’t.
Contacted seller but they were just blaming the vpn, how come 1 code worked then if its a vpn problem.
    Seller not interested.

I guess its like the old saying, if something is too good to be true……

Have logged a case with PayPal but dont hold out much hope.

You live and learn I guess.

    • Which seller?

    • Did you try redeeming the 12 month first and it didn't work, or you did the 6 month then couldn't get the 12 month to work afterwards? Some others reported the inverse problem to you (12 month worked, but not 6 month) so trying to make sure I get my facts straight for the post

    • you may want to try the codes again with Egypt VPN and profile changed to Egypt. After a month, the 6 month codes are now magically working

  • Why not use India? The gift cards are cheaper on G2A. Is there any difference in the process?

    • In theory it should be the same. At the time I did this I think Egypt was the cheapest

  • I redeemed this on my personal account a few weeks ago without a hitch.

Now trying to do a family member. Got on my Surfshark VPN (Egypt - Virtual), successfully changed country to Egypt, but trying to redeem the 2 x G2A codes, and both return a message: "Something went wrong. Please try again, or go to our support." on spotify.

VPN is definitely working… could it be that Spotify has blocked Surfshark?

Edit: Also tried using Cyberghost 1 day free trial to no avail…

New edit: 6 month code activated with the Cyberghost…but 12 month still saying Something went wrong… hopefully it just takes a bit of time to become active…

    • Hi dammit, I've updated the post - someone was able to contact live chat and have the 12 month code applied, and also another had success with 3 x 6 month codes 😊

  • Also struggling with the 12 month code. Paid using credit card so can't make a claim.

Perhaps you have to purchase only 6 monthly codes from now on?

    • you may want to try the codes again with Egypt VPN and profile changed to Egypt. After a month, the 6 month codes are now magically working

  • +3

Looks like the 12 month code purchased from https://www.g2a.com/spotify-premium-subscription-card-12-mon… link in step 2 is currently not working.

I've been communicating with Gaming4You but so far they have not been able to resolve it.

    • +1

      Same here

    • Thanks for flagging - I made some edits just above step 2 to warn of the issue at the moment… I'll continue to make edits if others figure out a solution or diagnosis for the problem

    • I successfully used 12 and 6 month codes yesterday, but I did it with India.

    • Same here :(

    • you may want to try the codes again with Egypt VPN and profile changed to Egypt. After a month, the 6 month codes are now magically working

  • “Dear buyer,
    thank you for your message,
Please note use of VPN may cause the key not to be accepted / the redemption process not to work.
We recommend to try to use the key without, if you have VPN. Should you reside in a different country, the code is not intended for and wish to use the key from abroad, we recommend to consult Spotify support for help with adding the key.“

    • +1

Ok, just got the same response - can we request for refund?

  • +2

Just tried this also around 2 hours ago, Gaming4You 12 month and Ultimate_choices 6 month codes didn't work for me. On PureVPN Egypt. Contacted sellers and trying to get help.

    • So the 12 month worked for you but not the 6 month?

      • No codes worked, I am out $49 :(

      • +1

@siberry appreciate your efforts with this, could you amend the post to delete the G2A seller links perhaps, or put a very clear warning? As people are still buying them, and getting stung by invalid codes.

        • +1

Good call - thanks for the suggestion. I removed the links from the post now and also mentioned that others have had success with Spotify India instead, in the interim until we figure out why this issue is happening

          • +1

@siberry: Nice one, thanks! I’ll report any breakthroughs with either activating my dud card or getting a refund- so far no luck

  • Also to add, I thought I'd sign up to ExpressVPN trial and neither codes work.

    • +1

Didn’t work on surfshark or CyberGhost either which is a bummer. I’m down $32Aud but luckily the 6 mth one activated. Im wondering if gaming2you sold a dud gift card number or if Spotify is blocking it. Seems there is no way to check.

      • I don’t think it’s a dud number - unless there's a dud batch - as it has affected a number of us

    • Is this with your country set to Egypt in your profile?

      • Yes, Egypt is set in the profile

  • Just followed the process and was able to add a 12 month code but not the 6 month code. 12 months of premium for $23~ is still an awesome price. I'll try adding the 6 month code in the future I guess!

  • I'm also having the issue with adding the 12-month card - using CyberGhost. No issues purchasing the 2 x gift cards initially, and the 6-month card was redeemed perfectly. Just the 12-month card throws up the error message 'Something went wrong. Please try again, or go to our support.'

Has anyone been successful in resolving?

  • +1

I've edited instructions to warn of the issues people are currently reporting about redeeming the gift cards. Has anyone buying from a different seller?

Or perhaps trying 3 x 6 month, so that we can figure out if you can redeem more than 12 months of gift cards still? My hypothesis is that Spotify might have reduced the maximum pre-loaded time from 18 months to 12 months.

    • No, the information in the gift cards section of my Spotify account says 'you can only stack 18 months of Premium time on your account', so I don't think that's the problem. I did think about stacking 3 x 6 months, less cost-effective then 12 months but still good value. I might try and will report back. In the meantime, I'll seek a refund for the 12-month gift card.

    • It sounds like either you can't add more than 12 months OR you can't add more than 1 gift card at a time now. This post suggests that you need to either cancel or wait for it to expire to add another. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Subscriptions/Gift-card-You…

      • +1

I successfully added 2 x 6-month gift cards separately (about 30 minutes apart). I haven't tried a third one yet to get the full 18 months - waiting to hear back about a refund for the 12-month card first. So I don't think the issue is adding more than 1 gift card at a time.

    • I was on free Spotify and throwing error messages for trying to load 12 month card, so it’s not just a max 12 mth issue.

could it be that Spotify is blacklisting VPN ips and validating that when trying to redeem 12 mth cards ?

  • +2

Update - I have confirmed that adding 2 x 6-month gift cards works for a total of 12-months. Appears to be an issue with just the 12-month card.

    • Odd, I added a 12 month gift card 5 hours ago but the 6 month didn't work. It may come down to where the cards are purchased from too?

    • Let me know if you manage to get the refund on the 12 month and successfully redeem a third 6 month. That would be a decent work around. Thanks for this update!!

    • Thanks for this, after reading all the comments I successfully added 2 x 6 month (from Gaming4You). I bought and activated them one at a time, PayPal wouldn't let me check out the third time probably because too many requests from the same website.

Converted to 7 months Premium Family - saved $100. Thanks OP! :)

  • +1

For anyone trying now, I was successfully able to get 12 and 6 month codes working for India with the same process. It was also cheaper on G2A.

    • Did it also convert to 207 days on Australian family on the last step (if you did that step)?

      • I didn’t do that last step so not sure

    • +1

@Rarak just gave the 12 month code for India a go using PIA VPN and it's not working now.

Thanks for the heads up though. Thought I would comment just to let others know that India is also not working for the 12 month code now.

I didn't try the 6 month code. Good luck to whoever tries 😅

    • @Rarak I tried the code again and it worked now. Also added another 6 month card and worked as well. Thank you.

      • Nice one!

  • I'm in the same boat as a lot of people.

Surfshark Egypt enabled. However, the Egyptian gift card from G2A isn't working…. :( If anyone finds a fix please let me know.

    Thanks.

    • you may want to try the codes again with Egypt VPN and profile changed to Egypt. After a month, the 6 month codes are now magically working

  • Does anyone know a vpn that has a physical server in egypt? maybe that's the issue…

    • People are reporting that some of the 6 months work but not 12 month. So perhaps you can redeem 3x 6month, but I haven’t heard anyone confirm that yet.

Alternatively, a user reported that the same method works for India, with a 6 month and a 12 month gift card.

      • @siberry

I just tried the India 12 month code on PIA VPN to India. It did not work for me.

Thought I would give others a heads up in case they are thinking of trying this.

        • I used the seller gaming4you who had good ratings.

          Used express vpn trial

          • @Rarak: I got the code from the same provider. Maybe Spotify is levelling up… 😅

      • +1

@siberry I tried the India code again and this time it's worked for me.

        • +1

Thanks for the update. Maybe it was a temporary outage by Spotify?

  • I've bought a 6m and 12m. Both don't work.

I'm too invested now to give India a try

    • you may want to try the codes again with Egypt VPN and profile changed to Egypt. After a month, the 6 month codes are now magically working

  • +2

I’ve looked closely at Gaming2You’s feedback on G2A, and there is more than 28 negative ratings left for Spotify Egypt codes not working in the past 7 days alone. Seller has gone quiet now I’m asking them for a refund; blamed it on that you have to be in Egypt in person and a vpn won’t suffice - and G2A themselves won’t help or get involved.

Unfortunately I paid direct with credit card, rather than PayPal, which I think makes it a bit harder. But has anyone managed to do a chargeback thru their bank for things like this?

  • +2

Same stuff the 6 month one worked but not the 12 month one annoyed that the seller won't even reply to my questions on G2A just say it's a scam at this point.
